I've tried Corner Bakery food in person and for catering, so have definitely had their food a lot. They have a pretty good soup and sandwich combo for around $8. Pretty worth it in my opinion. I tried one of their flatbreads, and would say it's good, but the size isn't really worth the price. For catering, they do it pretty well. All the food comes nicely and they are pretty good on delivery. Usually get a lot of their sandwiches and the sandwiches are decent. However, definitely not my favorite. A sad decline. I haven't been to a Corner Bakery since 2019 and met a friend there today for lunch. I cannot recall a deeper fall from grace for any other restaurant. The portions were meager and the quality of food was less than you could make at home for a fraction of the cost. I had the "Uptown Turkey Avocado," poorly named and over-priced. A passing glance of avocado + a sad few slices of pressed turkey meat (a single layer on about half the bread) with one slice of bacon along with a wilted side Caesar. It was a sad excuse for a sandwich and not even a meal. My friend had a simple bacon avocado scramble and the restaurant was out of potatoes as a side dish. This is one of my go-to study cafes around Westwood. I love coming here to buckle down with my laptop and notes while I'm eating. Although the WiFi can be spotty, I usually have tabs opened prior and I'm good to go for an hour or two. I typically stick to the Choose Any 2 for $8.99. It's a great deal and you can select from a variety of hot panini/sandwich, pasta, salads, or soups. Recently I had the Chicken Carbonara with bacon, chicken, peas, and cream sauce and Harvest Salad with chicken, walnuts, green apple, and blue cheese-- yum! It was definitely enough to satisfy my appetite and take some home. The salads are premixed so they're not customizable, the pastas aren't authentic Italian- but for the price of the combo it's pretty sweet. Tip: 10% discount for showing your student ID! Lastly, I've always had such nice service here. Raven and Enrique were the two workers I noticed taking orders, bussing tables, running food, and providing friendly service to everyone when I was there today. Hats off to them! read more

Twelve of us went there for lunch on a Sunday. Surprisingly, we didn't have to wait long for them to set up a table to accommodate twelve of us. The order taker was knowledgeable and prompt. And, we didn't have to wait long for the food to be delivered to our table. The food was okay. The sandwiches were made with juicy meat and tasted good. Unfortunately, the soups could have been better. The chicken noodle soup was more like chicken broth. We had one bill for 12 people. They managed to overcharge us for a soda. Had a 35 minute break between appointments so we made a dash toward "Town" and this place is really close to the UCLA campus. Nice front doors! Modern and clean! High ceiling! Easy to read menu! I, feeling brave, ordered the meatball panini. Stephanie(My Wife) ordered the chicken salad. Both orders were ready in about 10 minutes. The meatballs are certainly not what Grandma Martino used to make. Not a great meatball but not bad either. Actually they are no longer "Balls" as they are sliced up in the sandwich. There is some sauce in the sandwich but most of it is in a small dish for dipping. I liked this because the sandwich was not at all messy like most meatball sandies are. I think some Parmesan would have really helped here, the small amount of provolone didn't quite reach out. I really liked that the sourdough bread was thin and lightly toasted. Not filling up on bread and tasting the ingredients is good. Got a small bag of chips with it. Stephanie's salad was ok. Did not have an inviting appearance tucked down there in that deep bowl. I have been to this location several times and left disappointed each time. I always have high hopes each time I walk into the door but the food is never up to par. I've tried the mac and cheese twice and although it is claims to have three cheeses in it, it is not at all cheesy. The vegetarian panini was greasy and made me feel gross. I ordered the egg bowl, with tomatoes, avocados and bacon, and a side of sourdough toast. It came cold, with the tomatoes tasting very bad. Bacon was crumbled into the egg bowl, but nothing was gonna help this tasteless mess. It looked like someone just threw the food in the bowl. My toast was cold, with no butter or jam. So we came two days in a row because we were in the area and both times different staff. Both days no one says hi, you stand at the register waiting for someone to acknowledge you for a good 5 mins. Our first day they forgot our pasta and then they started cleaning like they were closing and when I looked they closed at 4pm and it was 3:55 and still no pasta the young girl said "it's coming no worries". Finally got my pasta at like 4:03 and sure enough the shrimp was ice cold I was scared to eat it because the kitchen I watched them clean it up then magically make it in a few seconds. Second day all different staff same no acknowledgment of us standing waiting to order. They forgot our sandwich and gave us soup we didn't order. Went to use the bathroom and the floors are STICKY! My boots made stick noises on the floors. Hair in the sink like someone just cut their hair. We saw the employee come out right before walking in you would think she would have cleaned it some. The turkey avocado sandwich is amazing and is what brought us back the second day but the owner needs to overhaul the staff including the manager because they are clearly not doing their job or their employees wouldn't ignore you and they wouldn't continuously mess up orders. Visiting this place about once a month for breakfast. Loved the caprese panini however now it's been discontinued. Why would you discontinue such a wonderful sandwich? Anyway since they don't have the caprese panini I did order the California veggie panini, not that great, also was served cold so I guess it was waiting for the server to be picked up. Service is good, but they need more servers on weekends as it gets busy. Still can't complain about the value as I always get specials in my email, like 2 full meals for only $9.99. Such a bummer. The bread was completely untoasted, totally white, gummy, and kinda wet. It's a shame cause the actual caprese inside was seasoned well and pretty tasty. Ended up just turning it into a salad. The register service is still out as of June (that makes 3 months judging by other reviews) so it's still cash only. To be straight with you, the customer service is very very mediocre. The workers asked what I wanted. I told them, and they gave it to me. Nothing special. But one thing was amazing at this place, the loaded potato soup. When I tell you this soup was amazing (and cheap), I mean it. Stingy with portions as of late. I've been here a few times and normally just get the chopped salad which is a salad I really enjoy but it seems that they're quality of food service has declined in that portions are smaller and foods are not true to their menu descriptions. I got the chopped salad again and the portion was significantly smaller. I could count the number of bacon bits in my hand, the dressing tasted watered down making the salad soggy, and there were very few pieces of avocado in my salad. Furthermore, my friend ordered the anaheim scramble which claims to be "topped with avocado" and looks to have a whole half of an avocado in their advertised pictures and boards when the order arrived with literally one single slice of avocado no larger than 2 inches in length. We also ordered the tomato basil soup which was very salty and tasted like canned soup with 4 very soggy chunks of crouton. For drinks, I had the truffle mocha and was very unimpressed. This review is for the catering department only. They cold called me a while back at work and asked if they could bring in several items to introduce me to their food. Never one to turn down a free meal, I said yes, please! I've known about CB for several years and have always loved their products. However, I had never been to the Westwood location. They brought several sandwiches, salads, fruit and baked goods for everyone in my office to sample. It was such a tremendous hit, that I immediately opened a house account for the numerous breakfast and lunch meetings, monthly breakfasts, etc. we have here at work. I've now ordered from this store half a dozen times with both small and large scale orders and everything has been truly excellent. Today I got last minute notice of a meeting happening and someone asked me if CB would be able to handle with less than two hours notice. Catering Manager Walter Rodriguez said no problem whatsoever! I love it when people make things happen like this. Everything is fresh and perfectly arranged. The delivery is on time and very professional. You really get a lot of food for they money. Which is reasonably priced. A few times now they've brought something special for just me to show their appreciation for my business and that goes a long way with me. Some I've eaten all to myself since I'm a cookie monster and others I've taken to the awesome staff at PoshPetCare where my dogs are in day care during the week. After each order, they give me a follow up call to ensure I'm pleased and in general just really go above and beyond. However, every once in a while you get lucky and someone is just wiping down the tables & cleaning up the plates as you stroll by. I think this part could be more efficient, but these guys are definitely working hard. For some reason, I like the soups at Panera more, so I tend to get salad at Corner Bakery. I remember having a panini at the Grove several years ago and not being offended, but my recent lunch salad made me kind of sad. It was a Santa Fe Ranch, and it came with roasted chicken, corn and tomato salsa, cheddar cheese, tortilla strips, and lettuce. I ordered the ranch dressing on the side. Maybe this was not the thing to get. It was a sad-looking salad, especially when I took it to go in a little plastic box. It reminded me of airplane food, but I'd definitely take a salad from CPK ASAP over this mess. Nothing about it was good. I suppose, though, that Corner Bakery serves a purpose. The prices are okay, and the service is fast. I can see the place being useful to UCLA, and judging from how busy it was on my visit, it does well for itself. The bf & I came here, lead by our desire for the sweet crisps, and left with 2 bags of those plus a Pesto Cavatappi and Chicken Carbonara subbed with marinara sauce instead of the creamy carbonara sauce. The caesar salad is always a hit (as mentioned in previous reviews of two other locations). And I am now a big fan of Snickerdoodles. In general, I am a fan of the Corner Bakery establishments but one thing I've noticed at all the ones I've been to is that they are not big at cleaning their tables off in a timely manner. While the bf and I waited for our to go order, the whole middle section of the restaurant was nothing but tables of dirty dishes. And it's like this at the one I usually go to at Irvine Spectrum when trying to eat outdoors. I mention the dirty dishes, yes. I may seem anti-chain in some reviews, but I actually really like this place. I used to come here once a week for breakfast with my girlfriends. They open at 7AM and you'll find the place filled with UCPD officers, UCLA maintenance workers, and crazy girls like us who get up early for good breakfast. The paninis and salads are great, and I like the soups, too. If I had to recommend one thing, it would be the Swiss oatmeal. Seriously. It will change your life. I crave it every so often and I'm sad they stop serving it at 11...... my friends and I used to go JUST for that for quite a while. Chilled oatmeal soaked in yogurt with almonds and berries, it's just magnificent. I'm not a huge fan of the cold sandwiches, the ones I've had are pretty small, dry, and too much bread. The "frozen lemonade" I ordered once was just lemonade with extra ice. Service is decent, but for a while, it would be almost guaranteed that one of our dishes would be forgotten. I've brought pastries to work with good reviews... their baby bundt cakes are the best. Service was really fast and they were friendly, too. Now with their food. Their salad was fresh and refreshing. They put a lot of dressing though. One downside, their shredded cheese was a little bit hard ... I didn't enjoy it that much :( Their pesto chicken sandwich tasted really good, BUT their bread was cold and not fresh. I've tried their pesto chicken panini before and I'd say their panini is much better (hot and fresh). In conclusion: This is a decent place to go when you feel like eating sandwiches or paninis. Probably 3.5 stars, or more, if you factor in the very patient, friendly service. I like sweets, have usually always enjoyed their muffins. A year ago, they brought me in with a new bbq pork flatbread. And that was pretty darn good. Proper amount of sweet and tangy. That is still on the menu. To be sure: my dining companion loved his chicken carbonara. It was a hearty portion but not the regular giant bowl. That would likely have injured him or anyone else. Bundled as a Combo, he got a side Caesar Salad, too. (Fresh and crisp Romaine, solid dressing without overdoing it, croutons and parmesan) I went with soup and salad. My Caesar was considerably larger, and also good. Nobody is going to claim anchovies are anywhere near this salad, but it still went a long way with the fresh greens and simple prep. My soup was the tomato basil and this might sound weird but here goes: It was good, but I didn't like it. Maybe a bit too acidic, or possibly too sweet. I dunno, it warmed me up on a night that's temp had begun to drop. But, flavorwise, well, not for me. They were out of the Tortilla Soup, which was my first choice. I didn't see any bread for sale. Yes, cakes and sweets etc. But I recall a time when Corner Bakery would have several types of bread for sale. Those days are gone. This Corner Bakery stands above the rest in location, ambiance, service, and quality of food! My favorite lunchtime order is the half panini, half soup combination. Always the roasted tomato basil soup. I used to always get the California grille panini - roasted peppers, mozzarella, spinach, and other vegetarian goodies - but now I discovered a new fav: the chicken pomodoro panini. The chicken breast tasted a little.... generic.... but it went well with the mozzarella, pesto, and sun-dried tomatoes. I also love to dip my potato chips in the soup. Way better than croutons! This place is usually a hit or miss. The restaurant advertised the Asparagus Pasta Primavera as the best "quasi-Italian" meal since Olive Garden left Westwood. Sigh. Upon its delivery, I was served a clump of cold macaroni, peas and overcooked asparagus. I returned the meal back to the manager and said the Asparagus Pasta Primavera was undercooked. He questioned it and didn't seem faze by it. He then said the new order would be "10 minutes and I would have to check back". To my dismay, he said he would instead deliver to my table. At this point my lunch guests had already finished their food. The second portion was horrible. The meal was burnt and has no taste.
