This is one of the best dim sum restaurants I've ever been to. I've never had dim sum fresh to order and the difference is night and day. Sure it took a little longer to make but if you're someone that cares about flavor and truly loves food this is the place to go to. Food: Xiao Long Bao was filled with soup and was steaming hot. Their pan fried dumplings were crunchy and full of juicy pork. Spicy wontons were chewy with tender meat. We finished everything and I couldn't be more happy. Service: lady was very nice and was quick to help on whatever we needed. You could literally see her make the food and come serve it to you. Price: we got 5 dishes + soybean milk for $32.00. Classic scenario. You're out, hungry, and craving dim sum. What's the issue? It's after 3pm! That was the exact sequence that took place last night. Half the group was craving dumplings, the other dim sum. We were thinking Lunasia but they closed in 20 minutes. Maybe 101? It wasn't in the direction we were heading. We happened to be right by this gem: Dim Sum World!!! What a hidden treasure. Every bite was an unexpected joy. Unexpected only because of the wide array of items (pho, beef rolls, and dim sum). Typically you don't get the flavor quality from a place with as many choices as this. The staff was very friendly, generous, and welcoming. Also cool is the quirky and modest feel of the restaurant. Very much a "to-go" set up, you can easily sit and have a great dine in. One of our favorite parts of the night were the "get this beer a girl" glasses we drank our water out of. Classic. Definitely check this spot out. We ordered the soup dumps, chive, buns, and a couple of other items. Each was flavorful and well priced. We fed 3 for $25 including tip and had a few left overs. I don't understand why yelp only allows 5 stars. This place definitely worth 10 stars!!! This is a nice small little place on the corner. Inside it's small so it can get packed if during busy times. Service is great. The nice ladies consistently kept checking on us to make sure we were okay and refilling our water. Highly recommend octopus xiao long bao. It's a restaurant. Can't say much more than that. One dish came out still-frozen in the middle and the amount of oil dripping from the fried rolls, even before biting into them, was not appetizing. This is a small shop located very near East LA College (it's on the street not inside the center). We came here solely for the Chinese food, so we have no idea about the pho. Anyway, it has probably one of the best Xiao Long Bao I've had outside Din Tai Fung (not surprising as owner said she used to work at Din Tai Fung). The XLB are slightly sweet with a hint of peanut/sesame oil. Only thing I'd recommend is to let customers mix their own soy/vinegar and to provide ginger. The Pan Fried Dumplings were also delicious. The Beef Noodle Soup is also tasty- it has a lot of preserved veggies and is especially tasty when you add the chili oil on the table! Will definitely come back. read more

Found this place driving by when I was getting my COVID test. It stuck out to me because it's called Dim Sum World but when you drive by they have PHO in big bold letters in the window! I thought it was strange. Looked it up and funny thing is.... they don't offer any traditional dim sum here, just things you would find at your usual Taiwanese restaurants like juicy pork dumplings, beef noodle soup and beef rolls but they also serve Pho! So random. Anyway, tried all the popular dishes my favorite were the squid ink juicy pork dumplings and the spicy wontons. Delicious! The Dan Dan noodles were okay . I like my noddles nice and chewy. The NBC and boat dim sums I've been to are bomb because they have the little cart they bring to your table. This place does not have that. It's tiny and offers a homemade vibe, but that's ok because you get good service from what appears to be the owner. I order some pork buns, they come out fast, warm and huge. For a buck fifty each, you can't go wrong. I dive in, a little bland but not bad. I then order juicy pork dumplings. Takes a bit longer as they are made fresh. Okay. Smash, sizzle! Suddenly, the cook emerged from the kitchen to present the food. She was covered in rashes, both on her face and arms. I'm not one to judge, but that doesn't seem sanitary. Absolutely great find! Their mooncakes are something to die for - so well baked on the outside, and beautifully filled on the inside. I loved their salty soy (Xian dou jiang) I have yet to find anything similar elsewhere. One thing I quite missed having back home is the salty soy and I'm so glad I found a taste of home here! This is a delightful, tiny gem of a dumpling and stuffed pancake restaurant. Super clean with an A health rating posted by the door. The lovely older couple running this little place are from northern China and so friendly. The lady hand makes all of the beautiful steamed and pan fried dumplings. These were some of the most flavorful, non-fatty, and delicate dumplings I've ever had, either in the US or China. My son and I can't stop raving about this place and we'll definitely be going back soon. We had the fish soup dumplings steamed, with their beautiful pale green wrappers, super flavorful and juicy. Also had the spicy wontons with that perfect ma-la sesame-chili-peppercorn flavor you'd find in Sichuan. Grilled lamb skewers with cumin and spice like street food in Beijing...no fat on it, terrific, only $5 for 4. Pan fried pork dumplings beautifully crafted and plated with black sesames and green onion sprinkled on top...delicate with amazing sesame savory flavor. And large and very tasty lamb stuffed pan fried pancakes ("mutton pancakes" on their sign), totally savory and delicious. Our iced coffee and milk tea, while not very large, were perfect. I preferred this experience to Din Tai Fung, more authentic, tasty and fun. Highly recommend! read more

A friend and I grabbed dinner here on the fly. This is a very quaint little spot run by a mom and pop. A little weird concept because they do Chinese food and Vietnamese food-- We only had their Chinese stuff so I can't speak for the Vietnamese food they have. The food was pretty good! My friend and I had their xiao long bao, Sheng Jian bao, beef wraps and fried rice. Xiao long bao - pretty good! Not the best I've had but definitely liked it Sheng jian bao- I don't have a lot of places I've been to compare this to, but I enjoyed the flavors thoroughly I won't comment on beef wraps because I'm not a huge fan in general. Fried rice is pretty standard but very good as well! What really wins is the service. The owners are invested and want to ensure you are enjoying the food and your time there. Very attentive! They gave us some free snack things (don't know what it's called) on the house and that was very nice of them. Wish them success! read more

We wanted to try this place as it has many good reviews but unfortunately we were disappointed with the food. Both with the amount that you get and the taste of the XLB and shumai which is not your typical tasting XLB or shumai from say sit-down dim sum restaurants such as nbc, Atlantic seafood, and the now closed Ocean star. Service is good and the food was prepared fast. The only thing we got that tasted good was the beef wrap, it just was very small. On the other hand, the prices were reasonable but I guess considering the amount that you get that makes sense. Too bad, we wanted to like this place. We stumbled on this restaurant with plenty of parking in the back. We were disappointed that so many of the fancy black & green bao were not available. However, we were blown away by the food quality. Even the mist burning simple dishes (Cantonese rice rolls) just tastes fantastic. The lamb skewers were tender, not salty & flavorful: I did not expect that. The presentations are all meh: tastes unexpected. Even the ,eat pie (looks like it was fried too long ago, but it was not) is like the best Chinese burger. Wow... I had to wait 20 minutes for the food and pay in cash. I am glad I did. I really loved the beef item alone but when I dipped it in the chili oil the wontons were soaking, I loved it on a whole new level. also don't be swayed away by "spicy" label. the spice only gave me a slight tingle on the tongue, very manageable. This place is a cute little shop on Atlantic it was super super yummy I would highly recommend getting the juicy fish dumplings! It is an explosion of flavor in your mouth. This is a Shanghainese dim sum shop. You won't find your HK dim sum here. Pan fried bun, beef wrap, octopus ink dumplings were good. I was so tempted to try their pho because I never had Vietnamese pho in a Shanghainese restaurant but I was too full. Decent place and prices are great. Every once in awhile I crave pan fried soup dumplings, but the good ones are tricky to find because they need to have a crunchy pan fried bottom and still retain its juices. Their regular soup dumplings are also on point. This small mom and pop joint in Monterey park meets all my expectations. They also have delicious home made dumplings, 50 for 20 dollars. Also it's the season zongzi and they have delicious shanghai zongzi for 3 dollars. I am definitely coming back again soon! read more
