Breakfast of champions, ya know? CHOCOLATE CROISSANT. This lovely piece is perfectly baked golden. You know how to tell quality croissants? Its flakiness. Tell me the last time you peeled away layers of delicious butteriness off a croissant. Reminiscent of a bakery I visited in Cannes, France. You won't find this quality from a donut shop croissant because theirs will come frozen, thawed, then baked. Greasy? No, it's butter. Basically the essence of a croissant. COFFEE CAKE MUFFIN. I like a soft, fluffy muffin, which is what I got. Bonus is the mildly crusted muffin top. On top of flavor, the muffin top is what sets this muffin apart. DoLy's muffins put the store bought muffins and donut shop muffins to shame. I discovered DoLy's years ago and used to drop by every once in a while and grab a dozen for my staff. I just had a horrible experience there this morning both of the ladies MARIA and LISA were yelling at me right when I walked in for me to leave if I don't purchase anything as I was on the phone walking in. I think it was because I am African American the person before me who walked in and sat down they didn't say a word to. All they said was "people come here and just cause trouble and wonder around." This is the type of business deserves no grace or support. Do not come here. Visiting from out of town, walked past deciding to buy a few pastries to take back home. Entered at 11:55 on Monday, we were met by a woman with white blond hair in her mid 40s-50s and asked to see if they had a large box available to put orders in while we picked out items. Picked out items, went to the cashier at 11:57. They started ringing up our items. At that point we see right next to the cashier, Happy Hour is from 12-1pm weekdays (aka a clearance sale for the things they were unable to sell in the morning for the last hour before they close.) It was at 11:58 at this point and we realized on our own, we were 2 minutes from the Happy Hour time with no notification or help from the blonde woman cashier. She had finished ringing everything up at this point and we try to stop her and ask if she can apply the Happy Hour and she flat out says, no. My experience here was good! Service was good - nothing special and the atmosphere inside is super cute and cozy which is a huge plus. There's a good amount of seating for how small the place is and lots of natural light. I ordered the bagel sandwich that comes with your choice of bagel, jalapeño, cheese, egg & meat to-go. It was delicious and I would order it again! Will be coming back here on morning commutes in the future. read more

I had just grabbed my coffee from around the corner and was looking for a pastry for breakfast. I grabbed a ham and cheese croissant ($5.50) and made my way back to the hotel. For whatever reason, perhaps the interior decorating, I had really low expectations. I expected the croissant to be soft and stale, but was pleasantly surprised when I took my first bite and hard that loud crackle. Wow, this is a really solid croissant! I disagree that it's better than you'll find in Paris, where the butter is just better than what we have here, but without a doubt, this is one of the better croissants I've had outside France. This will undoubtedly be a return stop for me next time I'm in town. read more

I tried this place out after reading positive reviews about the bakery. The parking for pick up is free and right next to the shop. I preordered the cupcakes. They were ready on time. The cupcakes are the very BEST I have ever had! The cake was between regular cake and angel cake. The frostings were very good, AND there is a wonderful surprise in the center of the cupcake. I was craving some cake and regret not getting the lemon poppy seed muffin. Instead, I got a cinnamon twist (this wasn't too bad though a bit bland) and 2 flavors of macarons: the salted caramel and raspberry. I bit into the salted caramel and caramel spat out the other end. Luckily I was aiming into a bag. Never had any liquid or sauce leak out of macarons before, and I couldn't finish the macarons. The raspberry one just tasted artificial. Would have preferred the filling to be of raspberry jam but it's some type of cream. Texture was really chewy - maybe too much. Before any of you call me a macaron snob and that I don't know anything about them - I've had plenty in France. I felt like I wasted my calories and tastebuds for those macarons. If I decide to come back, it would be to try a muffin, but I'm pretty disappointed overall. read more

I wanted some kind of breakfast sandwich type of food, plus something sweet. This place came up in my search, so I decided to try them out. During my research, it showed that they had macarons, which I was excited about. But when I got there, they didn't have any macarons...so, I ordered their Cream Puff instead. Cream puff looked like an ordinary one, but it had a crazy amount of cream filling! It was really decadent and tasty, but not amazing though. I ordered Cajun Chicken Sandwich for my breakfast. I asked if the sandwich can be made on croissant, and they said yes. A staff brought it out to me in a paper bag once it was made. She realized I was eating in, so she brought it back on a plate for me. It was quite large in size, which was great. I somehow thought it will be on hot/warm toasted croissant but it was cold. Later I discovered that they can make their sandwiches in hot-pressed panini style upon request... Oh well. It had a generous amount of chicken, not really spicy but had a small kick to it. Veggies were very fresh with nice crunchy texture. Even though it was cold, it still was nice and buttery, very flaky and fluffy. I was full after having half of the sandwich, so I brought the rest with me and had it for lunch. I enjoyed the sandwich, very tasty, well crafted, good quality and very filling. A wonderful little bakery in the downtown Long Beach area. I've only tried their pastries and they're always really good! They also have a happy hour (1 hour before closing, currently runs from 11am to 12pm) where pastries are all 50% off! It's such a good deal! I mainly get their Coffee Cake muffin and it's pretty moist and very yummy. The coffee taste is strong and it's something I wish other places made! It's my favorite. Blueberry muffin is good too, but there are less actual blueberries in it than I would like. Definitely come here early if you want to see the full selection. They don't make a whole lot of each per day (Maybe like ~8 per pastry?) so if they run out it's gone for that day. read more

I would say this place has a small "mom and pop" feel to it. They don't have air conditioning. It's not really a place that accommodates large groups. Most of the tables are for two, and the tables are small, so anything over that would be tight. They offer baked goods mostly, but you can get breakfast or lunch. Because they close at 3PM, they do not serve dinner. I ordered a sandwich combo which comes with a side potato salad and green salad. The staff are friendly. read more

Hey guys, I just wanted to shout out this quaint little bakery. I found her on yelp because I wanted a good scone. Ran in for a scene and came out a fan! My kids and I love just about everything here. But, my recommendation is by far...the Blueberry Muffin OR THE LEMON POPPYSEED!! Omg. These fluffy, sweet, fresh muffins are by far the best muffins I have ever had. They also have chocolate chip, banana and coffee cake. Okay, so next on my list is the crescent with raspberry. I don't know who makes the pastries onsite but they are magicians. Every pastry is perfection. I've never been a fan of muffins but your muffins are moist and has the perfect crumb every time. Even after 3 weeks in the freezer, it defrosts into a PERFECT muffin with no signs of change. I can't make it over there often, but when I do, I always stock up. Their croissants are absolutely HEAVENLY. I serve them for breakfast when guests come from out of town. Just lightly toasted in the oven. Monday afternoon must be the wrong time to come here. While they had plenty of muffins in the display case they only had a few macarons, all the same flavor (green tea) which I'm not crazy about. So I guess no macarons for me even though this was the reason I stopped in. They had 4 flavors of cupcakes so, not wanting my trip to be a total bust, I decided to get one each of three flavors. My interaction went something like this: I'd like to get three cupcakes, please. One chocolate mousse, one vanilla bean and one lemon-rapsberry. (she grabs a container) One chocolate? Yes. One chocolate mousse and a vanilla bean and a lemon-raspberry. (she puts a chocolate one into the container) And what? A vanilla bean and a lemon-raspberry. Vanilla? Yes. (she puts a vanilla into the container) And which one? A lemon-raspberry. (points) This one? (sigh) Yes. Short attention span I guess. I also got an iced latte which was very strong and very bitter. I didn't care for the flavor of the coffee at all and only drank half of it. The cupcakes were all moist which should be commended. The lemon-raspberry cupcake was far and away the best of the bunch - very lemony flavor with a hint of raspberry. The chocolate was okay but the flavor faint. The vanilla was blah; the cream filling in the center and lack of flavor likened it to a twinkie. I obviously missed out on what everyone saw worthy of high ratings. DoLy's Delectables looked like a win... I mean c'mon the play with the "L" in DoLy is already a win in my book. After walking a couple humid blocks I arrive in the more industrial part of town. The metro train is just outside and a couple of construction projects going up - that's the view! Yet, I have learned it's not what's outside, it's what's inside that matters most. Hey, like life itself! I enter to a very warm greeting, of course I'm assuming she's DoLy, but I didn't ask because my eyes were on her breasts, jo-king, joking, eh I couldn't resist the Dolly Parton joke. Anyways, I look at the menu and order the house coffee and a toasted bagel omelet. I later add a cream cheese muffin. Um did I really bite into a jalapeño in that omelet? I'm not a jalapeño fan, so picked out the remaining. Haha oh well all that matters was everything was fresh, very affordable, and most important... delicious! All wins! In the end, I highly recommend DoLy's Delectables, but since they have short hours 6am - 3pm, just note the bakery goods are way more plentiful in the mornings. I read a couple reviews regarding lack of service and I'm perplexed with their experience. Since my first visit, I've been back for a Strawberry Smoothie and Chocolate Chip Cookie. A relaxed spot to cool down from the humid Long Beach walks. DoLy's actually has outlets for your cell and a gender neutral bathroom if you must! Love Between Two Cookies Oh, those melt in your mouth cookie-like shells and delicious filling!! My heart races from fructose overload and the sheer thought of downing a whole box within 10 minutes of purchase. ::Enter...Doly's Delectables:: && The Gluttony Continues... Parking can be confusing for first timers (like myself) but the pay lot right next to Doly's is $1 per 30 minute unless you can get the parking guy to let you in for 5 minutes for free. Anywho, back to my macaron experience. I give it a good 3.5 but my overall Doly's visit was a 5!!! I cruised on over to quickly grab some goodies and go. My stay was a bit lengthy since the couple in front of me were picking out some macarons as well (I swear I stood there for 15 minutes as they took their precious time- a lot attendant shift change happened while I was in there). When I finally had a chance to order I asked a few questions, bought a passion iced tea & macarons, got directions (life savers), and headed out. Here's a short rundown: Salted Caramel- Nice & flavorful but not my thing Pistachio- Good but the pistachio flave isn't my fave here (&& I love pistachio macarons btw) Strawberry- One of my favorites; has a light strawberry essence Pomegranate - Same color as strawberry (come on now); with similar features as the strawberry with a little hint of tang Grape- Wasn't a big fan of this; I'm a little bit of an anti-grape flavored person because they don't taste ANYTHING like the real deal Passion fruit- Booo, I usually love passion fruit but the filling had an "egg-y" flavor Tea- MmMm...refreshing! The cookies were the fabulous chewy type, though I grew a bit found of the crisp shelled smooshy centered ones. Each cookie was consistent and delicious but I really didn't like the filling to any of them. It's more on the runny side. I let my batch sit for 5 minutes before indulging to enjoy them the way they should be but the centers melted. With that said, they're still good and I plan on coming back to feed this monstrous macaron craving. FYI- their about the size of a half dollar. I came across Doly's after searching on Yelp. The pictures of the macarons looked delicious so I knew I had to try it out. The macarons are delicious and I tried 12 out of 13 flavors. A dozen was $15. Not too bad at all. Service: The staff was very nice and patient. It was kind of hard to decide what flavors to choose from with the selection that they have. Top flavors: Tiramisu, Vietnamese coffee, blueberry, key lime, strawberry. Other flavors: Lemon raspberry, passion fruit, pistachio, toasted almond, PB&J, pomegranate, mocha madness, salted caramel. If you've never had a macaron it's quite hard to describe. It's light and airy, yet dense with a little bit of chew, then it's also creamy and has a slight crunch at first. Basically, these were some of the best macarons that I've had! *Suggestion: Get a little sampler like I did of all the macarons and try them all to find out your favorite flavors! Enjoy! read more

Mmmmm French macarons.... *drool* At $1.50 a piece, it's half the price of Bouchon Bakery and pretty darn good. PARKING Metered or parking lot (need to pay). The lot directly to the left of DoLy's Delectables charges $1 for 30 minutes and you need to leave your keys with the operator. SWEET TREATS *French Macarons - $1.50. Flavors: raspberry, coconut, orange chocolate, salted caramel (this one was the best) *Cupcakes - $2. Only tried the caramel pecan; the cupcake itself was moist but I wasn't impressed by the frosting, I ended scraping almost all of it off and picking off the soggy pecans. I wanted to try more items because everything looked great, but I needed some self control because it'll make the next trip here worth the wait. Service was super friendly. Only suggestion would be to put little signs for the different flavors because we had to ask what each macaron and cupcake was. There's free wifi, but I didn't try it out.
