I used to go to the in Mira Mesa then moved away and would stop by to grab donuts if I was in the area. Then I would also stop by the Scripps Ranch location when I take my kids to doc appointments. And just recently heard of this location and it's closer to me so it's worth my 35 minute drive. read more

When I walked in they were in the process of making new scones and doughnuts so I know they make fresh stuff throughout the day. They also had a large selection! All of it looked good! This is my family's go to spot for all holiday breakfasts and they always have great, higher quality food. The only downside is that the Apple fritters (my mom's favorite) and other specialty doughnuts are never ready by the time we get there. Today, my brother and I went over at about 7:20 (1:20h after they open) and they still weren't ready. That was the only thing my mom wanted for breakfast on mother's day and this happens almost every time we go there. I feel like it's difficult to make a donut stand out from other donut places because of the sheer fact that donuts are so basic. However, I will say that I've had some BOMB donuts in my lifetime and this isn't the place to go to if you want to be blown away. I've had a breakfast sandwich here and different types of donuts and the flavor is what you'd expect. Nothing exceptionally good or bad. Just whatever. The first time I entered this place I had a weird feeling that I was unwanted, after a while I decided to give it another chance. So today I went in, the main guy was already helping Someone so I was patiently waiting my turn. I noticed a girl behind the counter sitting doing nothing but I figured she might be on break.... After a minuet a women with three kids comes in and the lady behind the counter decides now she wants to work and skips over me to help them. Normally I would let it go but I had to get to work on time and said "excuse me I believe it was my turn" and she turns and says "oh okay" and just keeps on ignoring me. I turned and walked out. Favorite donut place in San Diego so far. Their donuts have a very thin "crust," a thin layer of crispiness that seals in the doughy goodness inside. I've never had such good dough in a doughnut before. I could complain that the jelly donuts don't have enough jelly filling, but I keep ordering them because these are the only jelly donuts in the world that have such yummy dough. This is also one of the few places at which I enjoy the cake donuts - again, they've got that thin crispy outer layer that seems to seal in the freshness of the dough. Their old-fashioneds and crullers are super buttermilky - the flavor really stands out (in a good way). Service is always very friendly and polite. They make you want to stick around.
