Razor thin crust pizza is not normally my thing but East side Pies does it well enough that you don't feel as guilty eating it. That said, the crust is cracker crisp thin, so if thats not your cup of tea, go elsewhere. Garlic knots are alright. Very soft bread that's not what I would think of it a knot. They lay down the garlic in thick heaps that is enough to ward off a vampire. Wouldn't get it again though. The pizza toppings are fantastic though. Buscemi is my favorite: a little heat, deep flavorful chunks of sausage, depth of roasted veg. Mizza is a meat lovers dream come true but has a bit too much going on that its hard to tell whats what. My kids thought Papa Johns was the best pizza until I told them I wouldn;t order it anymore. I was tired of it. Then they went for Dominos. The price is right. Then I got tired of that... and I forced them to try GOURMET pizza again. Their tastebuds are evolving I hope! Well they are! They love East Side Pies. They love the Mizza. Ordered a pizza last night via DoorDash. DoorDash driver delivery was fine, but the pizza itself was a huge disappointment. The pie was barely cooked. The sausage was pale grey, veggies raw and the cheese just melted. No color at all. Pretty gross. I ended up having to bake and broil it just to make it edible (made a huge mess.) Same with the cheesy bread. The crust was previously cooked and then the cheese barely melted on top. And they forgot the salad dressing. So much for taking the night off from cooking! It's nice to pop into ESP to get a quick, affordable slice or two. I've always enjoyed the food here, but on my most recent visit the taste of the pizza was lacking in flavor. The crust tasted like the buffet pizza at Mr. Gattis. The meat and cheese on the sausage and pepperoni slices didn't "pop" with flavor as in past visits. I hope this was just an off day for them. We recently moved to Austin from NYC and my boyfriend could easily be described as a pizza elitist. Unfortunately we were super let down with our first TX pizza experience! Now don't get me wrong we weren't expecting a Brooklyn slice but we were definitely underwhelmed. The crust is paper thin and crust almost like a cracker, and I think because its so thin you can't really put much sauce on it so it felt pretty dry. We got sausage with peppers and onions, the topping were good but the whole thing was pretty bland. You mainly got flavor from the sausage which wasn't really crumbled it was like they had made a sausage log and then cut it into chunks. Wednesday is pizza night at our house. We ventured farther from home and we discovered ESP during the pandemic. It's been about 6 weeks in a row now & we will not go anywhere else in Austin. Why? Perfect thin crust. Just the right amount of cheese. The red sauce has a nice fullness in the mouth. Last week, we tried the jerk chicken for the first time, paired with pineapple. Nirvana! Tonight, I noticed I could change the sauce. So, with a bit of Argentine nostalgia, I asked for chimichurri sauce instead of red sauce. Kept the jerk chicken-pineapple combo. I AM NEVER EATING A DIFFERENT KIND OF PIZZA EVER AGAIN! My mouth is still dancing the Tango. Thank you, ESP for making me look forward to Wednesdays. read more

Wow ! I know Austin has good pizza but tonight, based on a recommendation by our hotel bartender, we decided on East Side Pies. We did not know what to expect so we relied on Yelp and they did not disappoint! The online ordering was a bit of a hassle because it would not take our hotel address so we called it in. An order of (2) pies, nothing fancy and man did they deliver ! The delivery person was so nice and even brought us paper plates and extra napkins which we didn't even think about until he mentioned it, so thank you ! The pizza is thin and so fresh very NY style like and the ingredients are apparently all natural from local farms in the area which is great. Keep up the great work guys! Don't change a thing and keep doing what you do. Ohhh yeah, the fact that you are all very nice doesn't hurt your business either ! Went here for a late lunch today, and ordered a Mundi. My wife wanted olives and artichokes on her half. They made a mistake and put the olives and artichokes on the entire pie, so they made a second pie that was a normal Mundi! We got 2 pies for the price of one! Delicious pies, NY thin crust style with tasty sauce. Real roasted garlic. Friendly and pleasant ordering, and fixed their mistake without and told us about it before the pies were done. Definitely high on our favorite pizza list. Lots of vegetarian options. read more

Let me start off by saying that I hate pizza. I like the toppings, but I despise the bread and the tomato sauce. There is never a time in my life when I want pizza and I am as stubborn as a mule about that. These guys? They're so kick ass that they changed my opinion on pizza forever. How in the heck did they do that?! Let's start from the beginning. I was out on a date and the guy suggested we get pizza. I gave him a look and reminded him that I hate pizza, but he kept pushing the issue. He pulled out a menu and told me that East Side Pies has really thin crust and they have options other than tomato sauce. I wasn't excited, but I looked at the menu and saw they offer pesto and black bean sauce as options. So far, so good. My date kept picking tomato sauce options, though, which was starting to annoy me. Dude, I told you I don't like tomato sauce! Eventually, we settled on the Duval. Yes, it had tomato sauce, but it also had delicious toppings that I love. I decided to just venture out of my comfort zone, but I was still trepidatious. I was paying for this, after all, and what if it was gross? Then I would have paid about $20 for something I didn't even want to eat. We picked up our pizza and the smell was mouth-wateringly delicious. Pizza had never made my mouth water before, so that was a good sign. I couldn't wait to get home and dig in. I started with two pieces and the pizza actually looked appetizing. Very little crust, very little sauce, lots of yummy toppings. Could this be the pie to change my mind? I took my first bite and thought, "Is this heaven?" I devoured my first two slices and went back for a third. I really wanted to eat more, but my date only had two slices and I figured it wasn't very becoming of me to sit and eat the rest. Damn, that was some good pizza! (I'm still sad that I didn't take any leftovers. What the heck was I thinking?!) There are so many options I want to try - Nacho, Nacho Veggie, Half Nelson, Mojo, Olivia... I really need to stop reading the menu. Any restaurant that can get me to change my opinion on a food I have always hated deserves five stars. I tip my hat to you, East Side Pies. read more

When I pay 22.50 for an 18" pizza, I expect these things: 1. High quality ingredients 2. LOTS of these ingredients all over my pizza 3. The pizza to be cut into pieces 4. It to come in a gold-plated box 5. The pizza to leap out of said golden box and do my laundry. Okay, well the last two may be pushing it, but I mean, that's pretty damn high for a pizza. I might wait max. 5 minutes if I don't call ahead. Most important thing you must note is that they do not sell pizza by the slice here. They are a delivery/to-go business. Stopped by Eastside Pies on my way to a friends and picked up a pie that I'd phoned ahead for. The pizza was piping hot and ready when I arrived and I was so hungry from not eating all day, that I scarfed a piece on the road. Not the best idea, as a mizza pizza is loaded with meat and therefore loaded with grease and it was dripping down my arm and chin as I drove. The crust is cracker thin and the toppings are abundant, but somehow, the crust did manage to support it. My friend enjoyed it as well. Be warned, the large is truly large! East Side Pies is one of my favorite pizza places in town, so when junior opened up near me, I was thrilled. The garlic rolls are fluffy and big, coated with parsley and a generous amount of garlic. While they are delicious the day you pick them up, they are also delicious the next morning when you pair them with scrambled eggs. I prefer veggie pizzas and cheese pizzas and East Side has the best selection of both. There is the moon tower, packed with every type of cheese you can imagine. The best veggie is the Guiche which is loaded with spinach and goat cheese. They have other veggies that represent the eclectic and expansive list of vegetarian-friendly ingredients they have, like avocado and roasted eggplant. The crust is thin and soft and the sauce is good. Pizzas are expensive, but most gourmet pizzas in Austin are. However, keep in mind that the pizzas are pretty big and come with a hefty amount of good quality ingredients. Unlike the original East Side Pies, this one is take out and delivery only. Also it is really hard to see from Airport Blvd! They need a sign at the corner so you can see that they are tucked down a side street. When you are driving, keep an eye out for a one-story building recently painted dark green. read more

I am currently enjoying a super delicious Buscemi (sausage, onion, jalapenos, peppers, cilantro). You can also purchase by the slice. This location is currently "to go" or delivery only, but they are in the process of expanding and constructing a dine-in facility next door. This location doesn't have dine-in space and I can't speak to their delivery service, as we live within walking distance. The big pies (18") are great for groups and though ESP style is different than the pizza place over the road, they're one of my favorites. The Guiche and The Moon Pie are worth trying. My friends and I ordered on Sunday evening for pick-up. When I got there, my order appeared on the screen but my pie was MIA. They looked into it for several minutes, but it hadn't accidentally gone for delivery nor was it in the kitchen. So. They explained it would be about 10 minutes for them to re-make my pizza. No problem. They apologized and offered me a drink while I was waiting, even though I told them it was no biggie. When my pizza came out, they threw in a salad and a couple brownies. I jokingly asked, "how did you know my girlfriends were coming over for Downton Abbey?" to which they piled on more sweet treats! I was perfectly satisfied with their apology for losing my pizza. I thought they really went above and beyond by giving me food on the house. Kudos for their great customer service! read more

Nope. I did not like east side pies. We ordered 2 pies for delivery and were quoted a 45 minute time. Ah hour and 15 minutes later, we call back to check on the status of our pies. We were told, without any apology that they were "really busy" and that our order was on its way. 15 minutes later, a full double the amount of time we were quoted, the pizzas arrived ice cold. Wilty cracker crusted ice cold pies. It seemed like the toppings might be nice quality if you got a fresh pie... My advice to a business is to not offer delivery if your product will not hold up. Vegetarians rejoice! Something new for us to eat when it comes to pizza! They have some great veggie pies, hands down. My personal fave - Sharon's pie. It's a curry spinach mix instead of red sauce, with thin red potato slices and broccoli. I add roasted garlic and it's just perfect! I also really love the Moontower with cherry tomatoes and roasted garlic. I mean seriously, how many "veggie" pies can you eat in a life time, this is a refreshing new take. For the non veggie lovers, they've got all the classics and some really interesting topping choices like green chilies, goat cheese, salami pepperoni etc. In general, very good pizza one of my fave places in town. Good red sauce and light cheese, but it's just right for this thin crust. Excellent service that's consistent and friendly. Try the garlic knots. Cons: They have sort of a small delivery area. I'm at Lamar and Anderson in the Crestview neighborhood (5-7 mins away) but that's outside their delivery area. They do half pizza orders, but they have to be of the same sauce. This is really annoying since I go for the spinach sauce and my boyfriend always goes for red. They don't offer personal size pizzas, so if you differ on this you have to get two mediums. I live in georgetown and don't make it to Austin very often, but I had to get my passport done today so of course I went to yelp to find lunch. I walked in and was immediately greeted by a super cheerful woman who explained all the different knots, rolls and slices that they had. I was in a rush so I just grabbed a cheese slice, garlic knot and a soda, all for under $6! The crust was soooooo thin, it almost melted in my mouth. The garlic knot was also to die for and it helped that they give you a side of sauce to dip it in. Nothing but fast food pizza appeared in my search except for East Side Pies. East Side Pies? Hmmm, I wondered how I managed to pass by Airport Blvd at least 1000x in the past year and missed it. Chalk it up to age and blindsidedness. They normally do not deliver to the office park I was at but made an exception. Colin, the guy who answered the phone and took my order was super friendly and helpful. I got two large pies 18 inch ones (same as real NY pizza), one with chopped beef sans any other topping, the other with veggies and assorted goodness like feta cheese and red peppers. Delish. Perfect crust. Read, "real crust", not that puff daddy bakery dough appearing as pizza crust that Austin Pizza churns out. EXCELLENT job. Well done! read more

This is the sort of pizza you would expect to be served at Epoch, ie nothing you would want to put in your mouth. The crust has a saltine cracker consistency, and the rest is downhill from there. With pizza the BREAD is the thing; if the bread's not right, trying to fix it with toppings is like putting lipstick on a pig. The good news is that if you want a good pizza, House Pizzeria is only two blocks away! House's pizzas are better the next day out of the refrigerator (a good test for pizza BTW) than East Side Pies are fresh out of the oven. House's vastly-better pizza costs about 1/2 what East Side Pies costs, go figure. read more

To me it seemed to much like it would just be a cheesestick, but I was wrong. Everything about this was tasty. I had the Moon Dingo pie. It was amazing how much better you can taste all the cheeses and mushrooms without a heavy tomato sauce to mask. I look forward to trying another of their multiple non-tomato based pizzas. I also ordered a regular style tomato based pizza. It too was really great thanks to great toppings and well cooked thin crust. Nothing fancy here but I'm giving it top marks anyway. Rather quaint exterior located literally on the wrong side of the tracks. Patrons comprised mostly of the hip bohemian crowd with tattoos. Small tables and counter if you wish to eat in although it seems more conducive to carry out. From behind the service counter. Bruce greeted me with a genuine smile. Even gave me a history of the place. For the record, I'm a native New Yorker and not overly fond of thin crust pizza. However, this joint far exceeded my expectations. Fresh pies came from the oven while I was there around 8 PM. No orphan slices waiting to be sold here. Giant pepperoni 2 inches in diameter populated my slice. Delish. A little oily but I like it that way! And the most interesting garlic knots I've ever tasted. Exquisitely soft, more like a roll than the traditional knot. Maybe a Southwest thing but it worked for me and my fourteen year old daughter. Slices were fat and one was sufficient for me although I ordered 2. No worries that means I know what's for lunch tomorrow! If you're a pizza lover and ever fly into Austin, Texas do yourself a favor and stop by this place. Plus four stars for the awesome Greek salad (and white balsamic vinaigrette!!!) - hits the spot every time. and for the variety of delicious/unique combinations of tasty goodness. my favorites were the Guiche and Olivia. minus two stars for causing too many unenjoyable REPEATED trips to the bathroom for myself and anyone else I've fed ESP pizza to. after a dozen+ ESP pizzas i cannot figure out why (yeah, i'm a bit hard-headed) ESP's pizzas just do not agree with me (or anyone else I've fed them to). the ingredients seem awesome, wholesome, and damn are they tasty! i've eaten these ingredients in other meals, so i doubt there's an allergy/sensitivity thing going on here. plus, what're the odds that multiple people would have the same allergy and not know about it? i have to wonder if there's a cleanliness/cooking issue with the kitchen... which is a sad suspicion to have because i really love ESP pizzas but dare not eat them as who the hell has time to hang out in a bathroom all day?? moral of the story: eat ESP pizza if you're constipated - you won't be disappointed!! read more
