Eddie's is a simple and affordable diner with no frills. The food was actually better than I expected, albeit nothing you couldn't make at home. I ordered the vegetable omelette with avocado, which comes with a side of grits or hash browns, and toast or biscuits. The toast and hash browns were whatever, but the omelette was really satisfying! The place is tiny, seriously, but we stopped in on a Monday morning around 8 and had no problem getting a stool at the empty counter. I'm sorry but for me personally I really don't feel this place. It's not that great. The coffee is okay. the food is okay. The service is OKAAY. Parking is hard to find. It is cash only, for me I think that if you require cash only you've gotta have a reason ( amazing food, ambience, powerful social media presence). So idk what their hook it. The mugs are cool but that's kinda where it ends. Everyone that I takes me here swears by this place but I think it's just nostalgia for those that grew up in the area. First the older last wanted to fight with me about being next in line (and the person she wanted to give the seat to kept saying, "No, they're next!" They don't use butter which means all those eggs, toast, sausage are cooked in oils-- some of which are grossly hydrogenated. On the other hand, if you are hung over, this will help with the cure. Support your local dairy and your health and ask that they use natural butter over artificial and cheaper replacements. I was trying to understand him and asked him to repeat himself like one time. He got mad because I did not understand him and told me why don't you just come down here since you don't know what I'm saying and hung up on me....my boyfriend also said they have toilet water coffee. I just don't know. Eddie's is down the street, which makes it a neighborhood breakfast joint. I love supporting local business, and love that it's open in the morning. I refer to this place as the Hipster Cafe because this place always seems to be crammed full of River Cuomo wannabes/groupies. Food is decent, quick, and cheap, and certainly less packed than the Pork Store or some other breakfast place in the Haight on the weekends. Eddie's Cafe is one of the last, performing breakfast exactly as it should be! Cozy little cafe, with an eclectic collection of coffee mugs that make you feel at home. Beautiful flowers on every table and regular guests browsing the morning paper. I had the pancakes and bacon. Pancakes were thick and fluffy. Perfectly browned on what could only be a well used grill. The bacon left more to be desired. Not sure if it was turkey bacon or made in the microwave, but it was dry. Eddie's was recommended to me by a local to the area. I found the cozy mom and pop atmosphere to be charming; the coffee mugs brought a smile for this early morning grump. Overall I had a wonderful experience, but I have to give it four starts for two major reasons: 1) it's cash only! They do have an atm on site, but still... it's 2017 and 2) one of the male servers made some comments about my size and how all of the food had been eaten- I'm sure he didn't mean for it to rub me the wrong way, but it did. read more

I went to this place about a month or so ago. It is a cute, hole-in-the-wall cafe on Divisadero. I treated my brother to breakfast here. The food was decent for the price you pay. The service was decent, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and seated immediately. It is a busy restaurant and we got our food in a timely manner. My brother ordered a waffle and hash browns and i ordered pancakes and hash browns. The seats were pretty crammed together soo i could here other people's conversation. But all in all I enjoyed the food, so I plan on eating here again. read more
