Me and the family have been coming here for years. We live in the neighborhood. The food has always been decent, but recently the service and food has gone down the shitter. We watch the owner come and go collecting quarters from the machines and what not, but mostly leave the store to the workers. The food is OK and just like everywhere, prices have gone up since Covid hit. We've been regulars, but have decided we've had enough of the annoying Christian radio they play. They have even put up a new sign with their hours that says "In God We Trust" at the top. Fantastic cafe isn't so fantastic! I came here after I landed about 1/2 hour before closing since they were always good in the past. I ordered a burrito and double cheeseburger. Not sure why, but they opened another burrito from another Togo box, scraped off all the stuff, except the refried beans, and then made my burrito with that. I wanted to argue, but not sure what the California laws are regarding food, since I just moved here. Several bad things about this place. First is that the food isn't great. I ordered an omelette with hash browns. The omelette was bland and as simple as something maybe a 12 year old would make. The sausage had an odd flavor like maybe it was going bad and the hash browns were mushy. Just not good. Next was the lady who started vacuuming and tossing floor mats around me like it was after-hours! It was mid-afternoon and she ran an old, loud vacuum right next to me while I was on a phone call completely oblivious to the customers! Great food and great service. Staff was very attentive and helpful, they brought the food straight to the table and gave us complimentary chips and salsa. The food was delicious, the whole family enjoyed it and ate all of it. We tried the Philly Cheesesteak, which was meaty and melty. The Jose Burrito with asada and a Chile relleno inside! Yum! Just finished a most unfortunate dinner from Fantastic Cafe off Studebaker. While I know that this is nowhere near a "good here for the amazing food" kinda place, this is the first time that I can say we were given just bad food. After eating a quarter of my beef dip sandwich, I just decided to toss the rest it was so bad. I never received my side order which I paid for and didn't realize I was missing until I got home. Wow I've been there a few times and they never disappoint you. The cooks are fantastic the food quality is excellent. The prices are average but the quality for the price you can beat. I spoken to the manager Jose and he is a very pleasant man he challenged me that if I didn't like something to let him know and he would not charge me for it so far I've had to pay for all my meals.
