Went hear for a standard oil change. Took 10 minutes! Beforehand I noticed my break light and the squeaking of my breaks was horrendous. They told me my pads were worn way way down. I stood their and waited for them to show me...yes I was about a centimeter from hitting the rotors. So glad I can in here. The head mechanic (Asian) was super friendly and helpful. I have no issues with this place. Took a total of 40 minutes and I was in and out! Unlike me clean car wash these guys actually know what their doing. read more

Here's the story. My family and I have been a customer of this Kwik Kar for about 10 years, since we moved to Texas. We always had a really great experience with Bill who used to be the mechanic until he passed away and the location got bought out by new owners. My inspection was out. I went into the shop to get my oil changed full synthetic high mileage (came out to be $73- go to walmart. The money saved is worth the wait.) So the new (?) mechanic (tattoos, versace glasses, light colored eyes) comes to me to tell me whats going on with my car (engine light is on). Even though he is less than personable (fine, I dont really expact that from a mechanic) he seemed to be genuine regarding the status of my car. So they do a "free" smoke test (Im sure they were hoping to make me buy a high ticket item service as the result), and found that I need a PVC valve replaced (or so he said, I had never been told that before). Now, that is all fine and dandy until he tells me that in addition to the nearly $300 service I MUST have before he will pass me for inspection, that I ALSO need new front brake pads. That my "front brake pads are LESS THAN 10%." Now, I am a student with very little income and changing break pads is about $150 aprox. I left for the day with just the oil change (student) and had my brother check my breaks when I got back to the house JUST to be sure I wasnt going to die from brake pads that were less than 10% left out of 100%. Guess what... THERE WAS OVER 60% LEFT!!!!!!!! Lies and deception. The real kicker is that he had the nerve to 1. lie to me about the status of my brakes (CLEARLY a safety issue) and 2. say he wouldnt pass my inspection if I didnt have the brake service done (that I didnt even need!!). I will NEVER recommend this car shop to anyone because they clearly cannot do business with intergity and honesty. And I DEFINITLY will not be having anything serviced on my car there because Im the type of customer that, you know, DOESNT LIKE TO BE SWINDLED. *****UPDATE BELOW: 1/4/16********************************************************************* The DISHONEST and ABRASIVE mechanic was FIRED! WHOO HOO! This location offered me a free oil change as an apology for my experience above. I went in today and got the oil change and a break light bulb replaced (which they did not charge me for). I am not sure who the CERTIFIED MECHANIC is on duty and am not sure if I spoke with him directly (I was not introduced to anyone who called themselves the certified mechanic (nor am I really sure if there is one on duty) but the guy I did speak to when I went in today was very nice and professional. If I could give a zero I would I normally go to brakes plus but since they were back on 08/5/19 I went to Kwik kar for an oil change and couple days letter my radiator is leaking fluid and car running hot I then took it back to them on 08/2819 just to be told it wasn't them that didn't my car has 170,000 but I've never had a radiator leak in fact brakes plus told me my car was in top shape in that department never go to place they are a bunch of unprofessional pushing uneducated mechanics they will mess your car up and say they didn't do it or blame it on your car negative rating for me!!!!! read more

Everyone there was polite for the most part. This was my first and last time to visit this location though. I didnt get much detail about what they looked at on my vehicle besides them saying they changed my oil and checked my washer fluid. Also they didnt give me a price breakdown on what I was getting so when I went to pay the $129.00 bill for a simple oil change was outrageous!!! I was used to paying 65.00 from my normal place. Well, I came in for an inspection. They told me I needed four new tires. I decided I would have them do it. It has now been 1.5 hour, and they have yet to start on my tires. When I finally went up to ask, I was told they need a special tool to put on tires for my wrangler and it would be another 30 minutes before they would even start. 2 hours before they could begin to put on my tires? They couldn't even tell me, so I would have been aware? I regret not going somewhere else. NO stars if possible. read more

BEWARE !!!! CROOKS AT THIS LOCATION !!! SCAM ARTIST I took my car in for State Inspection. They failed my vehicle and said my front breaks needed to be replace. They offered to replace my front breaks while I wait for $149.00. I was on my lunch break otherwise I would have let them install new breaks. I took my vehicle to Breaks Plus in Denton the following Saturday and they took all 4 tires off and questioned me on why I wanted to replace my front breaks. Then when asked why they are charging you get a response of, "so what do you want me to do about it?" I know they were going to charge me for Mobil 1 synthetic, when they began to refill the oil they began using the Mobil Super Synthetic. I asked the manager about it and then he goes into his speal about Mobil synthetic being their house oil. It only took a second to compare Mobil 1 vs. Mobil Super Synthetic to realize I was being cheated. Me and my wife came for a state inspection, service was fast no issue with the actual service but the man who checked me and my wife out was very rude. Not sure what his name was but he had a black jacket on with some numbering on the left side. Just real short with the 3 customers I sat and watched him interact with. I have used this Kwik Kar location for my last 2 car repairs and I will be a repeat customer. Kwame and Omar are great and go above and beyond to make sure you leave a satisfied customer. My first visit was for brakes, I knew that I needed rear brakes and thought I may need front ones too. I was quickly greeted when I arrived and they were able to get my car on the lift right away. The mechanic came in to let me know that I did indeed need rear brakes but had sufficient on the front. He even took me out to show me the difference in what need replacing versus what I had more time. The work was completed quickly and my brakes work great. I went back today for another repair and was absolutely amazed at the level of care and information provided. The mechanic once again went above and beyond explaining what needed to be done and SHOWING me the issue. For the first time I feel like I got what I paid for AND paid for only what I needed, This is rare as a woman (at least in my experience) going into a repair shop. I went in this past Tuesday to get my State Inspections done and I'm really glad I came here! Got in around 11am and had the usual 3 people in line in front of me and had to wait about 30 minutes for them to even get to my car for the emissions test for State Inspection. No surprises there... I was greeted by a Miguel (Latin name but an Asian guy - go figure) and he was really nice and thorough with what I should expect. Told me to expect an hour wait and guess what - it was exactly an hour wait from start to finish. What was really surprising was that he didn't give me lies telling me I needed to fix this or that, but he was very honest with me and true - he even vacuumed my car floors after the test which I didn't ask for, but was very appreciative for him doing beyond what was asked of him! (That's great customer service!!!) I was then processed for payment by a gentleman named Ryan who was also a knowledgeable guy (we talked about the change in State Inspections and how Texas gov't saves millions of dollars a year changing to a 1-sticker program, which blew me away with his knowledge) and after I paid my bill, I was leaving the garage at exactly an hour from the time I had arrived. I don't know about the other workers in this place for I have not dealt with them, but this guy Miguel and Ryan were one of the two most honest mechanics I came across who dealt with my car with the utmost care and treated me with dignity and respect. I don't know why this place gets some bad stars (must have been really bad experiences or maybe some rotten apples) but in my most humble opinion, I would come back here and work with either of these two guys again any day! I've talked to someone late afternoon yesterday 6/5/2019 and learned that there be a wait time for at least 2 hours for a wheel alignment-so decided to bring it in this morning 6/6/2019. I went there this Morning around 8:35 a.m. for a wheel alignment- guess what I was told again that I am looking at 1 and 1/2 to 2 hours wait. Already frustrated, I decided to come back home. Since I needed the alignment bad, I called them up today around 1:00 p.m. to see if they can accommodate me. They said yes if I can bring it in within the next 5-10 mins, they can put my car on the rack right away for an alignment. I rushed and made it there in 4-5 mins. Now here comes the worst part- the guy was being totally indifferent about my state of mind, and had the gall to told me I have to wait... no politeness, no apologies, no nothing but to say that its a first come first serve based service station. I just had a feeling they are playing games with me. I wouldn't suggest anyone go there- I surely won't. They lose business from me. They keep changing management, and I wonder why! DON'T DO IT! You will regret it. I purchased a synthetic oil change ( $98) and received more problems then ever anticipated. After the oil change. My car was leaking oil I took back and was informed the mechanic was a newbie and placed a stripped plug on my oil pan and they stated was fixed. Well, still leaking. I returned, they stated purchased a plug that belonged to my car and now should be good to go. Well, still leaking. I returned, now they stated nothing to do with my oil change (or anything they had touched) my car was leaking from the main gasket between the transmission and engine! I should take to Dealer because this is big problem! I had already planned to take to dealer and did so. Per dealer the car was leaking through the drain plug and Oil filter cap o ring. WOW! We called to inform them they stated owner will call us and still have not heard from the owner, MO. Now $390. Later my car is not leaking. read more

This place is crooked! Took our car here that had recently had everything repaired that could cause it to fail inspection. Everything was good, all tests passed, NO CHECK ENGINE light on! THEN I took it here to get inspection certificate. Again, no check engine light on when I parked it. They told me it would take about 20 minutes, it took 45. While it was in the service bay I saw at least 3 different people doing things with it. The mechanic (who turned out to be the manager) came back and told me our car had failed. I asked why. The first thing he said was that the check engine light was on. Wrong! I told him it wasn't. I said, "Show me." He replied that he couldn't because he had cleared the code. I asked why he did that without showing me. He didn't really have any explanation for that. Said that I asked for an inspection, so that's what he did, which wasn't an answer to my question. I asked him again why he didn't show it to me. Again got no actual answer.Then I told him I didn't think he was being honest. I also asked him why it had taken more than twice as long as he had said at the outset. He claimed it was because he was the only one that could do it in their shop, that he was the only one who "touched" it. Um, I saw three different guys out there "touching" it. Another lie. He ended up thrusting the papers at me and saying, "No charge." I believe he lied about a code showing up and reset that item to cover his tracks, So I immediately took the car to our mechanic who hooked it up to their computer. Kwik Kar had indeed reset that item. Interestingly, our mechanic told us that it was against state law for them to clear a code or reset items during an inspection. My husband later called and talked to the guy (Baldwin Deen) who did the inspection and asked why he cleared the alleged code since that wasn't legal. He had no answer and claimed not to know the law. Really?! If you're the manager at a place that does state inspections wouldn't you know the law?! Then he claimed one of his mechanics did it. Really?! He said he was the only one who touched it!! Also of note: In spite of what some "reviewers" on here claim about them not trying to upsell them, we had gotten some minor things done here for our other car in the past and they ALWAYS tried to upsell us. I will never again go here and will tell everyone I can what liars they are. read more

This place will charge you for an oil change and not change the filter. If you HAVE to go there you best check to see if the oil filter is new. Multiple times they pulled this scam on me. I'm sure they now clean the outside of the old oil filter before they bring you back the keys and charge you for a new one. Better yet I would scratch the filter with a screw driver first to ensure its new. But it's easier to never go there. Never. read more

I was aware that my front brakes and power steering needed service per dealer recommendation from prior oil change, but I choose to wait (due to cost); so I was not surprised when Kwik Kar advised me that I needed front brakes and power steering fluid. I informed shop that I could not offer at this time (same as I told dealer), but shop found coupons for me and I was able to have brakes replaced and power steering flushed all at a price I could afford! read more

I've gone here a few times and they always push for additional services fairly aggressively. I went in for a state inspection a few months back and was assured my brakes needed replaced. I didn't notice a problem driving, but I made note of it and said I'd wait. I went in today for an oil change and the same guy had the same tune. He stated that it was dangerous to drive and would almost certainly need rotors too if I didn't get them replaced ASAP.... but this time his price was higher. I decided I'd put it off long enough and agreed... I managed to walk up to my car in the shop just as the employee was about to pull it apart and I ask him if I needed pads: "No way... were they squeaking? Why do you think you need these replaced?" I called over the guy who insisted I needed them and his only reply was a shrug. I watched as I had them stop the brake job and put everything back together and overheard the same guy who'd outright lied to me look at a poorly done repair and say "It's not my car, what do I care?" I paid for my oil change and I won't be back. People like this are THE REASON people don't trust mechanics. read more

Oil Change was not done incorrectly and had to have another mech fix it; requested refund and was denied. I had an oil change done at Kwik Kar in Frisco. They informed me that I needed brake pads badly so I took my vehicle to another mechanic, who then told me that oil was leaking all over my vehicle and whomever performed the oil change did so incorrectly with a defective filter. I then called Kwik Kar who essentially accused me of lying to them (although I have frequented Kwik Kar in the past at different locations and have never had issues) and said I needed to get the filter number of the filter they installed and bring it to the office where they would look at it. I informed them the van was getting work on the brakes and I could not bring the filter to them. I requested a refund as was reasonable considering I had to pay another mechanic to fix their mistake. Additionally, the manager did not want to speak to me to deal with the issue and had me speak to the tech who then lied to me by telling me he was a manager. Finally, when I spoke to the manager, he said he would not provide a refund but would give me a free oil change the next time, which I believe to be unreasonable considering I don't want to have them perform any more maintenence on my vehicle due to them not being able to perform in correctly and due to how they treated a customer. They did not provide the service that I paid for and therefore, I am owed a refund for the services that were not provided. read more
