My parents and brother regularly have dim sum in OC and LA, so it was a pleasant surprise to find a hole in the wall/legit dim sum in Phoenix. Also, let's be realistic. Is this a 4 star restaurant overall? Of course not. Is this 4 star hole in the wall Chinese restaurant that is sorta ghetto but the food is good due to scarcity? You betcha. 99% of the servers and patrons are Chinese immigrants and it was great to have so many dishes from my childhood like pork spare ribs, pork buns, and har gow. Just dont expect the cleanest restaurant or even a nice smelling one. I mean, they store the plastic wrapped dessert cart right next to the open fish tanks of crabs, lobsters, and geoduck. Just come here with right-sized expectations and know that although dim sum goes till 3 pm, a lot of stuff can run out before noon especially on the weekends.

This place is a Chinese staple in the west valley. Don't know how I haven't written a review as I've been here countless times for dim sum, dinners, and celebrations. Came by with my family on a Sunday evening for dinner. It wasn't prime time dim sum hours so there was no wait and plenty of seating available. Took a gander at their extensive menu and went with crab and fish maw soup, Hainanese chicken, walnut shrimp, fried crispy tofu, braised tofu, scallops with black bean sauce, and the soy sauce egg noodles (from dim sum). Everything came out quickly as usual and tasted great. Service is improved as they have started boxing up your leftovers. We were laughing from the surprise of this step up. Good place that needs no further explanation. See you all there!

Visited Great Wall Cuisine while in Phoenix. First off, it's only fair to say this review can't compare to my in-laws' famous and highly rated upscale Chinese restaurant -- which also happens to carry Great Wall as part of the name. That said, expectations adjusted, this spot delivers a solid yum cha experience for Arizona. As you pull in, you'll notice it's located in an unassuming strip mall. Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect -- controlled chaos, with traditional steam carts rolling through a packed dining room filled with large family tables. The service is hit or miss, and with dim sum you often want your favorites right away, so sometimes you just have to wait for the cart to come around. Tried a variety of dishes. The Cheung Fun has always been a favorite of mine and it was decent. The Shumai, Har Gow, Char Siu Bao, Lo Bak Go, Taro, and of course Dan Tat (egg tarts) were all good. I think I'm officially done ordering Wu Gok though -- that one didn't do much for me and probably won't be on my list next time. Almost forgot, you can't have yum cha without Gai Lan, and as usual it was good -- honestly a dish that's hard to mess up. Overall, the best dim sum I've had so far in Arizona. PS -- thanks Joyce W for the recommendation. Saluti

Great Wall is my favorite destination for dim sum. I dropped in to get a few small plates for lunch, and it made me regret going a few months without having visited. It's always delicious. This place isn't much to look at. The outside is super unassuming and the interior is passable. They've definitely made some cosmetic improvements to the place, but if you're hoping for a more ambiant experience, this isn't for you. Great Wall has built its reputation on consistently yummy, authentic Chinese food, not aesthetics. This trip, I opted for a few of my favorite staples. Their jalapeño fried wings are always fire. They are larger wings and drums, so you always get a good amount of meat on each piece. The batter is fried nice and crispy, but the chicken itself is moist and delicious. The pork and shrimp shumai are another favorite. I will get at least one order of them every single time I go, no exceptions. The third dish was another pork dumpling steamed and then pan fried a bit for a delicious texture. Not pictured was a shrimp dumpling that was full of flavor. The real ones know when you go here, you have to ask for or help yourself to their chili oil. You mix it with a little red wine vinegar and it makes the best dipping sauce for all your selections. Also, Saturday and Sunday lunch service is the best time to go for dim sum. It's busy, and that means the dim sum carts are replenished often with hot, fresh options. For four reasonably sized dishes, I paid $33 and change, plus tip. I took home a box of leftovers, so I would say Great Wall offers great value for your dollar.

I love dim sum and live in the east valley. I wanted to go back to Great Wall since it's been a few months since I last visited. What I love about the Great Wall is the variety of dim sum is incredible. The amount of dishes that come out on carts is like a roving buffet. Once seated it feels like the carts all swarm and you can literally have food on the table within minutes. The siu mai is the largest in the valley and one of my favorites. As in most Chinese restaurants, fast and efficient is synonymous with good service. There is usually very little conversation with the service staff but they get you what you need. This place is probably the best in the valley for dim sum and I would gladly make the drive out west.

Early 2026 we came at 4 pm to try the food. We learned that the weekday dim sum service stops at 2 pm. We ordered 5 entrees and enjoyed an excellent meal served by really nice waitstaff who had a great sense of humor. We enjoyed the excellent service and the meal. We had Snap Peas, Bamboo Shoots and Shiitake Mushrooms; Sweet and Sour Chicken; Fried Oysters; Shrimp Egg Fu Young in a very nice sauce, and "Boston Lobster" (aka American Lobster) sautéed with Ginger and Scallions; and Chili Oil, a pot of Green Tea and white Rice. The huge dining area was empty when we arrived. Many diners arrived about 6 pm.

    17. Sesame Balls are one of my favorite desserts. Growing up I would eat a ton of them especially at family dinners.

My favorite dessert growing up. Dim Sum is a staple as a family to eat here as a treat every once in a while. The service is wonderful they always talk to my children and greet them. It's a restaurant I grew up in and my family association dinners as well as Chinese New Year celebration dinner has been here every year since before I was born. As an American born Cantonese we haven't found any place that is authentic here in Phoenix aside from Great Wall. We celebrate here often. It's our favorite place as a family. The decor is always impressive and the environment reminds me of when I was little running around looking at the fish inside.

My granddaughter asked to eat here before leaving AZ. I must say that I was a little suspicious since I didn't think she liked Chinese food. Haha. It was like being in Hawaii with the Cantonese style food. Chow fun, dim sum and full regular menu too. It was all good.

Food: 3 stars - Ordered 2 small lobsters (2 small lobsters for $40), walnut shrimp ($23), deep fried crispy tofu ($17), snow pea leaves ($29), 1/2 roast duck ($22), and beef with Chinese broccoli ($22). We also ordered hot tea to drink for 3 adults. The preggo wife was craving Chinese food so we made the drive and made sure her cravings were satisfied. We ordered for 5-6 people even though it was just me, my mom, my pregnant wife, and our 17 month old toddler. We don't mind leftovers and wanted the variety as we do not come here for dinner very often. My gripes - the deep fried crispy tofu was not crispy, the walnut shrimp batter needed to be more crunchy, and the roast duck skin could have been crispier too. We paid almost $190 (after tip) for 6 dishes. Are they including a tariff tax? Service: 4 stars - got seated quickly as they were not busy. Some servers spoke Vietnamese so it was nice to be able to describe the dishes we wanted in Vietnamese and have them understand us to help place our order. The food came out quick and when we were finished, they packed up our leftovers for us as well. Ambiance: 4 stars - throughout the years, this place has definitely improved as they grew and became more "mainstream" if you will. This used to be a "hole-in-the-wall" kind of spot that did not bring in a large variety of patrons but with the growth in the area and popularity of dim sum, they have been able to clean the place up quite a bit. The front doors could use an upgrade though. Overall: 3 stars - the quality and value of food is always going to hold the most weight in my ratings for a restaurant. I have eaten here for dim sum many times and may return to give a separate review for dim sum service. However, this dinner service was good, but not great and far from perfect. I think a 3 star overall rating is solid for a place like this during dinner service. I wouldn't come back often or regularly but would recommend if y'all are craving those traditional Chinese dishes.

Went for dim sum brunch with friends and left so full. the pricing was reasonable and there were plenty of shrimp options (big for me because I'm pescatarian). I will say that if you're vegetarian, you can put in an order for more veg-friendly options, otherwise, you may not get a lot to eat. I loved all the shrimp dumplings, but also tried the radish squares for the first time which were so yummy. Remember to ask for chili oil if you like a little heat! And you have to finish your meal with a hong kong style egg tart and one of the sesame balls with red bean paste. The service was great. No frills, and super efficient. Make sure you grab as much as you want when the cart comes around.

I ordered from the cart, somewhat point and taste. I had the salt fried shrimp, the shrimp dumplings sticky rice in leaf packets and the calamari. It was a lot and more than ample for two. The shrimp were huge and fried shell on head intact, which was fine with me, but for those who don't want to eyeball their meal, take heed. But they were crisp fresh and delicious, and salty. The calamari were fairly tender and freshly fried and salty as well. The star of the show, for me was the little shrimp dumpling. Encased in tender opaque skins, and packed with shrimp. I'd order those again. The sticky rice packets were filled with savory and seasoned ground meat, I think pork. Which i usually avoid, but I was committed. It was excellent ! A meal that can be purchased at your local grocery store...well, that is close to what we are talking about. It came out without any serving utensil. WTH? The Mongolian beef was more like pot roast and fatty. It certainly was not what I would consider spicy. Ambiance is VERY casual. There are regulars and they seem to be like family, so that is cool, once you have been accepted in the circle of trust. Maybe I am spoiled, because we tend to get very good Chinese in Las Vegas, due to the "Whales" coming in to gamble. Maybe this considered fabulous for Scottsdale, but certainly not what I was raised to expect. Now, it has been few weeks since my nephew and I tried this place. I wanted to let it breathe before posting "hot". To be fair. We were offered some dumplings to apologize for the wait. We declined, because I was afraid of what they may taste like. I asked for the check and the lady resisted saying that we hardly touched the food and she did not want to charge. This also was nice, but my ENTIRE working life has been in the hospitality/customer service/food service industry. They have bills to pay. They prepared the meal. They provided the service. They deserved to be paid. She apologized once again and said that they were using a new cook. I thought that I might be unusually over-critical however, my nephew, who resembles a trash compactor went away saying that there would be way he would ever get food from there. I wish this place well. Maybe there needs to be a better front of house/back of house dynamic. I can think of many things that would help.
