This restaurant exceeded our expectations tonight. We decided to have a family night out with our 4 and 5 year old so we chose to come here. Service was exceptional! The chef had an amazingly contagiously cheerful personality. He even performed magic tricks for our kids; they were so entertained :) They also accommodated our request for a healthier hibachi option. Our waiter was also extremely attentive and polite. This is a new restaurant in the area. I went there recently with a couple of friends and we had a great time. Excellent food, great service, and a really neat atmosphere. We didn't sit at the hibachi tables but when I go back I probably will because it was so fun to watch from afar I want to watch up close. The food was very good, the drinks were good. Not sure why this place gets such good reviews. My experience with the service and food were pretty bad. First let me start with our waitress who never smiled once and had to be reminded to bring us utensils. She clearly doesn't care about her job acting as if it was bothersome that we were asking. Our Teppanyaki server seemed nice and entertaining but clearly had issues with getting 7 people's order straight even though it was written down for him. He had to look at the orders at least 10 times and still got it wrong. The person next to me ordered filet well done but our sever gave him his first and it was clearly not done. He set it aside per our severs instructions and replaced his order with filet from everyone else's orders which meant everyone else for shorted their filet with smaller portions. I had filet and chicken and my husband ordered just filet but got the same amount of steak that I did. When everyone at the table tried to let him know the orders were not right he got defensive and accused us of not believing we were served filet. That was not the issue but regardless he was adamant he did nothing wrong. My husband requested no onions in his fried rice which most severs accommodate no problem. The server must have felt lazy because he left out the onions AND carrots for everyone else...didn't bother to add them in. The bowl was still sitting on the cart untouched. My final criticism was about the sever using his cooking tine to stuff the leftover food pieces and eggs shells in the disposal on the grill and then proceed to use the same fork to cut everyone's meat and vegetables on the flattop grill. Totally unsanitary! We will try another Teppanyaki place...despite the good reviews this place was disappointing. read more

Horrible service, started out by having to wait 15 min to be seated, even though I had made a reservation more than eight hours in advance. Was then seated in the corner table and waited another 20 min to then be greeted by our chef. The food was not the best that I have had at a hibachi restaurant before. Came here with friends one night for hibachi and had the worst meal. First they start off with salad. The dressing was watery and had a weird taste. Next came the soup, which tasted like barely flavored water with two mushrooms in it. Next was the meal, we all ordered seafood and all of our food was way over cooked. The fish, shrimp and scallops all were over done and chewy, being huge seafood fans, non of us could even finish our meals! When I mentioned to the server that everything was over cooked, she stood there just looking at me, then walked away not saying anything! She came back brought the checks and walked away again. Been here a few times and their food is great. Aji sashimi (Spanish mackerel) where the bone of the fish comes with the plate and later fried. They also have Hamachi kama cooked (yellowtail collar). Yum,..I can't rave nearly enough about this excellent Hibachi restaurant. The sauces are perfection and the food is always cooked just like you ask. The cooks are fun for all ages,.. yes they actually squirt sake in your mouth! I would say it's a great special event restaurant but we eat there often enough that it is just a favorite. read more

We usually only do hibachi steakhouses on special occasions because they're good but it's hard to justify the money. That's all changed now. This place has excellent service, funny original and entertaining chefs and the food is wonderful. I left feeling satisfied and excited to come back next weekend. Thank God for you. A place I can eat sushi without having to make it myself. I had to inquire whether the pickle roll was made with an American pickle or with a daikon radish because, well you know, it's Texas. It is in fact a real pickled daikon radish in flower mound no less. And they served it with a side dish for mixing my soy sauce and wasabi. And fresh pickled ginger! They have real age dashi tofu. And the tepenyaki fried rice was actually cooked correctly. I couldn't believe it after my experience in Southlake. Granted every time I go I'm the only one in there. I hope they stay in business but I know flower mound has a reputation of not liking good food. But if you don't know what good food is I'll tell you that this is it and please go try it so they don't go out of business. It's fresh and cooked properly. The Japanese food hasn't been texafied. Side note if you only like charro beans, queso and barbecue this is not your place but please Texas broaden your horizons and see beyond the Texan flag to taste what the world has to offer you. read more

I come here often, as I live in Flower Mound and the service is always amazing. The food is great and has really good flavor. When I come in the manager and servers recognize me even after just the first few times and are very sociable. I recommend this place to anyone who likes hibachi and also great service. I just wrote a review of one of the worst Japanese restaurants I went too. Then I realized I didn't write one for this place yet. Although the service was great, the sushi was a joke. Ordered a set with nigiri and sashimi. Every piece of nigiri was topped with either mayo, oyster sauce, spicy mayo, or some other sauce. They ruined every piece of nigiri they served. I didn't see the point in masking fish with these sauces. Isn't soy sauce good enough? Or at least something that compliments raw fish without making taste like a fast food poke shop dish. What's the pink sauce on the salad? They made a creamy dressing with ketchup. I did order an Americanized dish, a spicy salmon roll that was actually spicy. That was a plus. Besides that? Nope. Not a sushi bar worth trying again. I heard great things about their lunchtime chirashi though. But for some reason the different people I spoke to said try the chirashi at lunch. read more

The food is good. As other reviewers have noted, the service is poor and very slow. That is probably my only complaint. I had the teriyaki chicken hibachi and a philly roll and my fiancé had the salmon hibachi and we both really enjoyed our food. I read reviews that said people got sick from consuming seafood from this place which made me apprehensive but my sushi looked and tasted very fresh. It was actually one of the best rolls I've had in the DFW. The other food is a slightly lower quality than larger chain style hibachi restaurants and so is the presentation, but it's still delicious and the restaurant is clean. However, the service is terrible and incredibly slow which makes me question whether or not I'll return. After the chef came, our server disappeared and I had to get up and look for her for drinks, our check, etc. She was not very attentive. It is a small restaurant with only 3 hibachi stations but it seems like there were only 2 servers for both the dining and hibachi areas which were both full at the time. We also had to wait a while for the hibachi chef even though our table was full. If you have a lot of time this is a good place to go, if not or if you're impatient this may not be a good choice. read more

One of the girls took the card inside and came back after almost 10 mins.. the very next morning,someone has used my card in a Houston area gas station.. I am glad the Citicard caught this and alerted me immediately. My boyfriend and I arrived at the restaurant at 8:55pm for a late Saturday night dinner. This was our second visit here and our last. We were not greeted upon arrival, and it took us telling the hostess "Table for 2 please" to begin the dining process as the hostesses did not say a word. We were immediately seated in the dining section and were one of two tables in total in this section. After being seated, we reviewed the food and drink menu and after 20 minutes, we realized that nobody has come by to take an order for drinks or be helped in any other way. We watched multiple staff members gathered in groups around the bar talking and watching what was on TV above the bar. After concluding that no staff members had any intention of helping the paying customer that keeps the doors open, we left, hungry and disappointed. Found a bug in the middle of our Hanaya Tower Sushi after we had eaten half of it. Brought it to the attention of the staff and, after asking if we wanted to remove the bug and finish the plate, they took the plate away. Technically speaking, hibachi is a table-side grill. When they cook in front of you, it's called teppanyaki. A friend who ate sushi hear had stomach problems afterwards. I'm not keen on going to a place where there's a risk of getting something from the food. read more

I have never written a bad review about a restaurant. I am very disappointed in the service here. We sat down at the hibachi tables and ordered quickly and everything was going good. We ordered food and drinks and 15 minutes late we still have not received our drinks. A family of 5 comes in and sits at the table with us and orders drinks. They serve that family's drinks before us after we have been waiting for 20 minutes. After that we got up and left. I do not recommend. read more

Kind of pricey for the quality. The location is really great, but my lobster was overcooked and my scallops were raw in the middle. I was visiting some families in Texas this week and decided to stop by for dinner after watching a movie nearby. It was the most pleasant experience I have ever had. I came on a Friday night and the place was so lively and it smelled superb! The atmosphere was amazing the place was really nicely decorated. It was simplistic, but had a really nice atmosphere for pictures. The services from the servers and the chefs were also very delightful. The chefs were all very engaged with the customers and the servers were all trying their best to meet the customers every needs. The food was also beyond excellent and prices were also so reasonable for the huge portion given. It was definitely worth the money spend to have this amazing food and service. It was like finding a hidden gem in Texas. The experience was worth it I will definitely come back if I were to visit Texas again. I regret not being able to live in the neighborhood and making this restaurant my go to, but if you do live in the neighborhood definitely give this place a try. You won't be disappointed. read more

We ordered takeout from Hanaya for the first time. They are very close to us but had not tried them yet. Our dinners were delicious! We ordered sweet and sour chicken and the General Tzo's chicken. Each came with fried rice and a small side salad. Both chicken dishes tasted delicious and they have some of the best fried rice in town. The small side salad is only iceberg lettuce with some carrot shavings but because the rest of the meal was excellent, the salad doesn't matter. I definitely recommend them for takeout.
