We've gone to Hisui Sushi for years. The food is good and a fair value. The ambiance is ok - a little stark but that's ok. The reason for the three stars is solely based on our experience yesterday. Otherwise I would may have given 4 stars. A little back story - we've spent a lot of time at Mercy Hospital downtown Sacramento in the last two weeks. My 89 year old dad fell and broke his femur and hip and had surgery. He's going through physical therapy in the hopes of getting him mobile and home again. Needless to say, we've been exhausted and our holidays are cancelled. It's been a very stressful time for our family. After leaving the hospital yesterday I suggested to my mom that we go to her "favorite" sushi restaurant. This is one of two restaurants that she purposely ordered food to go during the pandemic in order to help keep them in business. She is a person that does not go out a lot but when she finds a place she likes she is super loyal. By the time we got there yesterday it was around 1:45 and we were starving since we skipped lunch because we were at the hospital. Our waitress was not very friendly and when we placed our order she said it was "last call" because they close at 2:00 p.m. I guess they do that to prepare for the dinner crowd. I glanced at the clock on the wall and it was about 2:03. I was surprised that they sat us and I wish that they hadn't. We had no idea that they closed at 2:00. We both got Bento boxes and a glass of Chardonnay. The restaurant emptied out pretty quickly from the time we ordered and when we got our food. We were half way through our meal and my mom said let's split another glass of wine. I asked the waitress for one glass of wine that we would share. She went away and said, "I'm sorry but I can't, it's our policy". She said, "I told you it was last call". I said that I thought it was meant for food. At this point it was about 2:30 or 2:40. The manager and waitress stood there and stared at my mom while she finished eating her Bento Box. I was extremely uncomfortable. As other customers were leaving the manager gave them a hearty thank you and goodbye. It did not sound sincere - more of a "thank goodness you are leaving" sort of goodbye. We paid and I was half way out and turned around and my mom was standing there talking to the manager. I went back and told him I thought that we were treated poorly. My mom told him that we go there a lot and he basically said sorry (with a shrug and a slight roll of the eyes). He cares less whether we come back or not. It was super disingenuous. I've refrained from writing reviews during the pandemic. People are stressed and times are tough. As a small business owner myself (technology), I truly understand what it takes to run a business these days - a lot. This service was horrible and beyond just being "stressed out". I know my mom will go back but I won't. I'll head over to Mikunis. Maybe a little pricier but I've never been treated poorly there and their food and service is consistent. I can't imagine them ever staring at us to GET OUT or not pouring a glass of wine for two senior ladies to share so they could hurry and clean the restaurant. The manager really blew it yesterday and if this were my restaurant I would be very concerned about reviews like this because I bet our experience isn't isolated. read more

We came around 3pm. This place was super busy but we waited only 8 minutes. The service here is exceptional, our waiter was great, respectful and knowledgeable about the menu. They were able to super modify my roll to my liking. We didn't have to wait long for food either. I'd definitely come back! read more

Just had the unlimited Sushi lunch .. and it was horrible. We tried different things and only 1 or 2 were edible other were so bad that we had tough time finishing. This is not the first time we went in for lunch but never had I ever had such bad tasting food. The rolls were loaded with rice. The Nigiri meat tasted bad. I expected better quality especially after they increased the price. Will not go back if they keep serving this quality food. The service was 5Star the team was really great. read more

We went here on Friday for the all you can eat. Prices were at $19.95 for 1 person. The selection is small compared to what you get on other buffets like 10 rolls, 10 different types of sushi and some appetizers. It was not busy due to the c-virus going on. We ordered some handrolls, and other rolls. The salad was good as well as I enjoyed the dressing. For the price it was not bad and they serve Gunther's ice cream as well. Hmm the sushi rolls tasted just like any you get at a buffet which is okay not too bad nothing out of the ordinary that stands out. Service was okay and friendly, we got our food in a timely manner and spent an hour there. The owner came by and see how the food was there as well. read more

The food here is good and fresh, Service was quick since the place was not too busy. Our server was very helpful with recommendations. I enjoy the food. The only annoying thing was that bell coming from the kitchen that kept rung too many times it bothered my ears. Otherwise, I would have given you another start. Please let the cooks know. read more

Been here twice - both times, the sushi was phenomenal. It is a bit on the pricier side, but it's similar to the pricing scale out in the Bay when it comes to sushi. You can also tell that the owner cares as he was overseeing and communicating with his staff on service. Overall, worth the 20 min drive, and would come here again. read more

The Tuna Sliders were delicious!! The asparagus is lightly and perfectly fried. There is no rice or seaweed, just the tuna for a "wrapper " and all below the toppings is crab. It was delicious!! I've wanted to stop in here since i saw the notification that they had opened. Then after scrolling through the photos i saw they had oysters and knew i had to try everything. So i finally stopped in with my best friend we had drinks i had the hot green tea and he had water, then to start we of course got he Oysters which were excellent I could of had at least three more. I had the DK roll which is scallop, crab, shrimp, avocado, salmon, masago. This roll was very delicious could of had two more of them. And the other roll i had was spicy Dream that one has spicy tuna, crab, avocado, deep fried, masago, and no rice. And my friend had the beef udon which he stated was very delicious. I will definitely be back and will be trying more of the rolls and definitely will be getting more oysters. read more

Today we stopped into this new-to-us-spot in Folsom for lunch and went with the all you can eat lunch menu. I was pleasantly surprised with the large variety of options on this menu for the price of a sushi roll anywhere else! Normally at most AYCE places you are sacrificing quality for quantity but not at all at Hisui! All the rolls were fresh, delicious and quick to come out to us. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is one of THE BEST sushi restaurants I've ever eaten at! I recommend the firecracker appetizer and the Golden Gate roll . (Imagine me putting my fingers to my lips to kiss them and throw it up in the air, Italian-seal-of-approval-style.) The staff were all very welcoming, helpful and kind. You can tell they really work as a team and understand that when everyone helps each other the outcome is an unbeatable customer service experience. There were mere seconds until we were sat, hardly anytime for our plates to be cleared or water to be filled and next item to be ordered. Overall, we had an amazing lunch and cannot wish to come back again soon. Next time, we are bringing more folks to partake in this awesome experience! Thanks so much to everyone that helped us today. Service is medium paced, you get your first round of orders pretty quick, second round a little slower and if you're going for a third or fourth round it's even slower. You can order up to 5 things at a time, so if you're hungry order all 5 the first round. Good variety of sushi and appetizers to pick from for an all you can eat. Taste is up to par to the other well established sushi places around the area. Atmosphere: Very clean and welcoming! Great for families and dates. Perfect noise level for a restaurant where it is loud enough to hear the person you are talking, but not awkwardly quiet. Service: Super friendly. The waiter we had was informative on the menu. I've been here multiple times with a small group for the AYCE. Everyone agrees that both the food and service are excellent. The manager runs things very very smoothly - I run a restaurant, a very different type of restaurant, but I try to run it a similar way. As a leader, not just a boss. He can be seen helping out wherever its needed. Very friendly also. Our servers have been incredibly friendly each time we've gone and are very attentive. The whole crew can be seen helping with each table ; a very friendly and team work oriented environment. Fish is fresh and most of their items besides the obvious(pickled cucumbers, etc) are freshly prepared. Salmon is of great quality. I must have ordered the salmon nigiri at least 8 times. Note: I believe our server today was Josh, and on our previous visit was Brian(?), If I remember correctly. They both did a great job! As far as sushi in Folsom goes, the quality can't be beat here, and the price(19 per) is incredible for AYCE considering that. read more

I really wanted to like this place, should have done Ala carte and spend the AYCE money one roll may have been a better choice but instead we did the AYCE and was very disappointed. Cheap basic rolls, small selection to choose from and you are also reminded by the waitress that if you don't like it, you'll have to pay the extra leftover. We each had five choices to pick from each round and let me tell ya... that was our only first and last round. Didn't finish it, all rice and no fish. Like I said basic and cheap quality. This place is in a little mall. There is plenty of parking. The service was great. It was fast, helpful and kind. The food came quickly and was very tasty. Nice sauces and fresh. We ordered the Zig zag, the Prisoner and Spider rolls. Our only complaints were that the deep fried items were not freshly cooked nor hot like some of our regular places do so it was cold and chewy. Also the ginger was a pale yellow brown and we did not care for the taste. We will definitely return here but would love to see them do their fried items for the rolls fresh and that would make it the 5 stars we gave. read more

I was with a friend checking out the 99 Ranch next door and she said this place has all you can eat sushi for lunch. $16.95 was the price and you order from a special menu. The interior is pretty nice and we got a good booth. We had a server that spoke perfect English and explained the all you can eat option. You get a choice of appetizers and rolls and a dessert as well as some fish served nigiri style. We tried a bunch of things, like the chicken skewers, pot stickers and different fish as well as a few rolls. I had a salmon skin hand roll that was pretty good. One thing I'll say, is the fish to rice ratio isn't so good .... Lots of rice with thin sliced fish. I guess that's what you might expect with all you can eat priced at $16.95. I suppose for the price it was OK, I just don't wanna eat so much rice. We liked it fine, but probably won't make a point to come back here. With a drink, tax and tip ... $25 was more than I wanted to spend for lunch. read more

First time back since covid and could not have been more pleased. We did the AYCE and were stuffed in less than an hour. Service was impeccable and the sushi was fresh. Was it the best sushi ever? New sushi place? Yes please! We came in to a busy restaurant in its first week. It was Saturday evening at around 6. The place was really busy. We sat at the sushi bar. Our energetic and cheerful waitress said hello and dropped off a small complimentary edamame bowl. We really like garlic edamame, so we ordered that with our drinks. The waitress came back with our drinks and took our food order. Then dropped off our garlic edamame. It was really good! It had a kick to it, as it has some spicy peppers mixed with the garlic. I liked it, but it was a bit too spicy for my fiancé. We ordered a couple rolls, including a rainbow roll and the Cache Creek roll. They were all very good! I've been to many sushi places, and know good rolls from bad, and these were good! We've been back many times since our original visit, and have never been disappointed. They have really fresh fish, so nigiri and sashimi is always good too. We also really love the chicken katsu! I'm happily giving this place 5 stars! Great food! Great people! read more

Some things never change. Service is hit or miss depending on your server. Pretty annoying more times than not. Manager is running around doing everything instead of being a manager. Note to manager: don't try to be a server, then disappear then come back n try to be a server again. Super annoying. We had 3 different servers in 1 hour. Managers have never fully figured out how to manage the place dating back to 2016. There's people running around everywhere it's day 1 every day. My best friend ordered two rolls (I forget the names) and the presentation was great but the food was okay. I ordered a beef udon since it sounded good. In my opinion, it was okay.
