This is my go to Chinese fast food restaurant. Before we even get to the food quality part, let me remind you how cheap this place is compared to Panda Express and other fake Chinese fast food chain stores. The amount of food they give me for a 2 item combo (~$8), I can eat it for lunch, and save some for dinner and still be satisfyingly full. So usually I only get 1 item combo for ~$6.50 and not finish the whole thing all at once. Noodles and rice, holy cow it's juicy and delicious. As for the entres food, I have tried more than half of the items they got there. Only the BBQ pork was kinda a let down, because I don't like fat or unflavorful meat. But honestly, it's much better than the typical BBQ pork people eat anyways. The rest of the food here is excellent. That's all I can say. Customer service is awesome here too. Hong Kong Express has become a staple on those lazy times after work that I don't feel like cooking and want something fast and cheap. And to be honest, that happens often enough, that they always say, "Hey, good to see you again!" (Kinda embarrassing). Now that we are moving tomorrow, I would be upset with myself if I don't give HKE the shout out they deserve. I first discovered HKE when I had a potluck party and needed a party platter FAST! The food was good, the service was great, and the price was amazing!!! I usually don't expect much from a Chinese takeout, but they really are good! I have ordered most of the items on the menu, but my favorite is plain white rice with the House Special chicken and beef broccoli. They load up the food - the Styrofoam filled to the rim and overflowing with the Chinese goodness. I've been coming here for years now, and it' still my favorite Chinese fast food place ever. It's a bajillion times better then Panda Express, which in my opinion, caters to "American" tastes (too sweet, yuck). Here it actually tastes real. I always order the one item combo- chow mein and BBQ pork with the LARGE container of hot sauce. They used to give the large containers without you asking, but now they switched to small ones so if you don't ask you'll be disappointed (if you like spice that is). Sometimes I order an egg flower soup too. Orange chicken here is good, and the broccoli beef you order for the broccoli, not the beef. They used to give ginormous portions back in the day. Now it's gotten smaller, but it'll still fill you up. Plus this place is pretty cheap. Also this place is CASH only. Don't expect to bring a large party here - take out is best. The broccoli beef looked good but my broccoli want cooked well and the beef was not chewable because it was all fat. For a quick Chinese dinner it was surprisingly good. Got the 3 item combo and got plenty of food, enough for leftovers. Orange chicken was good, broccoli and beef was good, although it was more broccoli and 3 pieces of beef, and the mushroom chicken was my favorite of the three! The Service was amazing the two ladies that were behind the counter made me feel very special and welcomed and let me try a lot of the items. Didn't feel rushed at all like Chinese places like these do. I have only one thing, which is why I gave it 4 stars, is that their portions were a little off. I got A lot of Orange Chicken and Broccoli- Beef, but for my last entree that I ordered they put it in a small box that only fit 4 very small pieces of chicken and 3 little mushrooms. I remember when this place actually did serve $1 chinese food (and I'm not talking about the rice). Now it's moved up a few quarters but the amount of food they serve you has not changed. They seriously load up those styrofoam containers until they barely close without the top flying open. Order a two item combo and you pretty much need a dolly to bring the tray back to your table. The owners here (a Vietnamese guy and a Korean woman) are fantabulous and know many people by face (they never actually get to know your name, but they'll treat you like family). I'm full Chinese and I still love going to hole in the wall quick serve Chinese good places. What impressed me here was the customer service. I came in and was greeted with a smile from one of the young gals and she made friendly conversation. So often I go to eateries and the young kids are full of attitude. The noodles were perfectly tender and flavorful and the fried rice was so good. Its pretty hard to find a Chinese food place that has the rice and noodles done so well. The orange chicken had a really good flavor, it wasn't a ball of crunch and no flavor like a lot of place usually are when in a hurry. The atmosphere is very much like a home and the staff is super nice and friendly. When it's busy it is pretty crowded but worth it! So is trying their Thai tea boba! Love this place and our family come here a lot pretty much every weekend. Before our trip to Disney we stop here grab our lunch. Service is great all the time; this establishment is owner by Cambodian/Chinese man. Definitely family owned; food is great too. They give out huge portion for the price there always hooking up.
