Being from the Midwest I was a little surprised to pay 12+ dollars for three wings and fries. While waiting for my meal which was prepared to order I saw several orders go out the door, so apparently pricing is in line for the area. Fun fact: I was actually introduced to this company via Yelp! I recently went to Badge Day and they happened to be one of the vendors! The staff was so much fun, friendly and made me want to see what the store was all about. They had both cauliflower and chicken Korean fried chicken. I got two of the Jesse Boy fried chicken plates with jasmine rice. As I expected, it was out of this world. I got one regular and one spicy to see the difference and the spicy one is kind of like a sweet and spicy but not too sweet nor too spicy. It coats your tongue very nicely! My second visit I was able to sit inside and I took my daughter. This time I ordered the Jesse Boy fried chicken bowl with a side of fries. The bowl came with a salad which was to die for. I've been going here for years, the food did use to be better, but it's still very good. The thing that really upsets me is that they charge for soy sauce, aïoli, any of their sauces- they give you one sauce, no matter how much you buy. Then, if you ask for extra, they want to charge you for it. It's been going on for a while and it really pisses me off. If you order one of the large meals it's like $30... Five pieces of chicken and a side require more than one of your little stupid plastic ramekins of soy sauce. My order of the Original Vegan Cauliflower Bowl did sweat in the box since it took me a while to get home via public transportation, but I loved every second of it. The bowl is seasoned to perfection with the right amount of rice-to-cauliflower-to-greans ratio. I'm not a fan of radish, so that's the only part I didn't eat. The Aioli Dressing is actually not vegan, so I opted for soy sauce instead and it was way too salty for my liking. I enjoyed my meal w/o it. There's no more seating. All the chairs are packed up. You can order inside and definitely do pickup, just no dine-in. I really hope Jesse's opens up a ghost kitchen near mí casa. I had been waiting to try this place and wish I had waited a lot longer. I ordered the Korean fried chicken bowl. Can't remember the last time I was happy about the lack of chicken in a dish. Whatever the hell was in that bowl tasted more like cheap sushi than fried chicken. And that wasn't aioli, it was mayonnaise. 1/2 the rice was crunchy. The other 1/2 was chewy. Great little spot. I went with my friend before we went to a comedy show and it was a good way to start off the night. Walking in you are immediately face to face with the menu and the cashier. There isn't any seating inside the establishment, but we asked and the employees allowed us to take a table outside and some stools. It was very nice of them! I got Fried Cauliflower and Fries. I'm not even vegan, but the cauliflower was a light alternative to typical tenders. Good flavor and portion size. Not overly oily so you don't get sick of it. Wow. Wow. WOW. I had been following Jesse Boy for a while and actually recommended them to a friend last week before I'd even got to try them. I went with the spicy fried chicken burger, cauliflower and spicy wings. I ordered via Door Dash and it arrived pretty promptly and everything was still hot AND crispy. What a great little take out spot in East Hollywood! I first learned about Jesse Boy when they were just opening and someone came around to the Cinespia line with flyers and free coupons. He was super friendly and the menu looked delicious, so I made a note to try it out. I don't know why it took me so long, but we finally decided to place a pick up order last Friday night. I had the chicken bowl, spicy, and it was de-li-cious. I ate all of it, even though I had intended to only eat half, and not to eat the rice. But it was just the perfect proportion of rice, salad and chicken so I experienced the whole thing. I got spicy which while it had a small kick, was nothing crazy and did not take away from the flavoring/sauce of the chicken (I was worried about this). Will definitely be back! read more

Before coming to the store, I have previously met the amazing staff of Jesse Boy in a couple of yelp events. I love their enthusiasm and the pride they take in the food they serve. Although I love the food and friendly staff, it took me awhile to visit their brick and mortar store. Until that day finally happened and realized that I missed out big time for not coming any sooner. I had the crispy chicken bites on a bed of jasmine rice with a side of greens. I have tried their vegan fried cauliflower before. It's so good that ordering it is a MUST for me. I already had quite a handful on my plate but it's good that the store lets you take only a half order. As expected, everything was amazing! It's addicting that I'm planning to revisit soon. This fried chicken and fried cauliflower joint is the best in Hollywood. I've been here over 10 times and the way it tastes is the same every time. Big pieces of cauliflower with a light coating of batter and the chicken goes neck and neck with one another so each time we go it's no debate: get BOTH. They are equally amazing and pair nicely with the half salad, half rice option to give your body that extra veggies it needs throughout the day. This place is super consistent and i give them props for that. I've passed by Jesse Boy a few times and their smiley faced radish logo had me curious about which Korean food they were inspired by. They put their own spin on Korean style fried chicken. I went with the chicken strips, extra strip, spicy style with fries. The sign inside said to ask for free radish so I did. My quaran-teammate got the cauliflower, spicy with half fries/salad. When they asked if they wanted it vegan. "Isn't it already vegan?" They have a separate fryer that has absolutely never had a chicken in it. I'm not a vegan but I respect that they're that committed to having their vegan selection be as vegan as possible. It was not necessary for my QTM. We were both expecting the spice level to be overhyped and it would fall more on that sweet side that most KFC places lean towards-which is disappointing. However, JB's spice level is in that Goldilocks level where it was spicy enough to be tasted/felt but not so hot that it caused me to stop. We liked it so much we went back, same order and our order was...bland. Curious, I called to ask if the recipe had changed because the heat level was noticeably absent. The chef called me back and said that the peppers do change but they would forward it to one of the owners. I got a call a few days later from Ajay and after speaking with him he said how my order probably got the mild on accident. To make up for it, he sent me a 25 dollar e-gift card as well as being told of their Diablo sauce. I'd say my first Korean fried chicken experience was most definitely a success thanks totally in part to Jesse Boy! The location is great just off of Santa Monica Blvd and Vine. It was 7:30pm on a Wednesday night and there were plenty of empty parking spaces available. If you are anything like me the anxiety of trying to find parking in LA can lead me to avoid places with bad parking situations. Luckily Jesse Boy was easy in and easy out. Next, the service was exceptional. I was greeted quickly and with a smile. That's always nice to see and often more rare these days. I ordered the mini Jesse Boy bowl with spicy fried chicken and was offered a sample of their agua fresca and sat down. I immediately got back up because a sip of that delicious drink was not going to cut it. So I ordered the full size for a reasonable $3. One of the co-owners, Ajay introduced himself to me as well and said that a dollar from my agua fresca was going to be donated to a charity as well. I sat down and got my food. I knew after the first bite that I had a winning dish. All of the flavors came together perfectly. I will warn you though, the spicy chicken was pretty spicy for me. It's not the hottest thing in the world but for someone who enjoys a little kick, it was hot. Their menu is really simple: Korean fried chicken wings, tenders, sliders and some fried cauliflower thing that just never makes sense to me (I don't go out for fried cauliflower, like ever-- does anyone?). In any event, I'd been here once before and thought it pretty tasty, a little greasy, a 3/5 stars affair, but I was hungry and ready to give it another shot. The wings, which folks rave about, were sold out so it was to be chicken tenders again... You get 3 meaty all white-meat bad boys on a bed of jasmine rice along with a slice of lemon, some semi-spicy alioli and ponzu sauce. The tenders are hot and crunchy and good as they prepare them as orders come in (so expect to wait around some). The alioli and ponzu sauce are serviceable and allow for you to vary up the flavors as you munch through the boxed meal. At $13+ before tax and tip, it's a little pricey for the meal to my thinking, but you get quality ingredients attentively prepared. Overall? My gut wants to give this 3.5 stars but you cannot so I'm being nice as the staff here are nice too-- a 4 it is. Worth trying! read more

This place is OK! I have had better KFC. The good thing about this place is the chicken tender. Big, crispy and has some flavors. The spicy KFC wings was pretty spicy but that's just me. The fries and rice is just like any normal fries and rice had some kind of sauce on top maybe soy sauce but nothing exciting. I got a free Fresca for the check in. It was ok had better. I was suppose to get pickled radish but I'm guess he forgot. OR that slices of radish on top of my entree was the pickled radish that did not taste like it was pickled. My friend Cheryl suggested this place for a late lunch today. We have been on the fried chicken sandwich tour, Chick fil A, Dave's, and now here. It was excellent, the staff was very friendly and efficient. I got the single Jesse Boy mild chicken sandwich, with fries and a side of fried cauliflower. It was truly delicious, the thin fries were perfectly crunchy, hot and well seasoned. The chicken was really good with I thin spiced crunchy batter. The cauliflower side ($3.50)was equally mind numbingly delish! One tiny detail I noticed was the bread seemed a little stale, just an observance (not enough to merit less than 5 stars) I checked in got a complimentary strawberry agua fresca. Jesse Boy is another Korean fried chicken (KFC) popping up amidst the fried chicken craze sweeping LA right now. As a huge fan of fried chicken, I actually prefer Asian fried chicken over the rest because it's lighter and you don't feel sluggish and lazy for the rest of the day. I ordered the Spicy Korean fried tenders with fries. Many KFC spots use some sort of variation of soy glaze on the chicken. The spicy had a decent amount of heat but not enough to mask the flavor. It's the kind of heat you notice but not enough to sweat or decommission a toilet the next day. The chicken was pretty juicy. I would've liked more of a savory flavor to balance out some of the sweetness from the glaze. Overall it was tasty and affordable so I'll be back! Wow this place ranks right up there in places I really want to succeed! Super friendly owner and nice cozy space to hang out with a friend or two. I ordered the Koream fried cauliflower and their sesame street salad. The fried cauliflower was cooked to perfection with a nice sweet and sour crunch; I ordered it spicy and did they deliver. They also gave me a side of Diablo sauce to kick it up a notch but the spicy-level it was cooked at was already on point. Spicy enough to slow you down, but not enough where you don't want to eat anymore. It works in your favor, too, because then it makes the experience eating it last longer. Also you have the option to go pure vegan with this dish where it's cooked separately from the chicken in vegetable oil or you could get it deep fried in the chicken oil for more flavor. Speaking of chicken, my friend got the chicken tenders and the portion size was generous enough that she only got through one made-to-order piece before we left. She also got the fries and they were as the owner described: the perfect mix between McDonald's and In N Out fries. Each fry was so crunchy and had enough potato still in it to satisfy. Also the watermelon agua fresca was nice and refreshing. I loved that this place had both chicken and vegan options. Parking was nice and easy during lunchtime when we went, too. My family and I absolutely love this place. It's my 2nd favorite hot chicken place in LA. I always get the spicy tenders with the spicy oil and their other sauce. This place has such a unique flavor compared to other chicken places i've tried. I love the spices they use and just the overall meal. My only two complaints would be the fries could be better and I wish there was more seating available to eat there. It's a pretty small location though, so I hope they expand someday.
