K-bop is one of my most FAVORITE places to get Korean food onward campus!! I have a Korean-American roommate who says k-bop is way overpriced for something you can easily make yourself, and although that might be true, for those of us who can't whip out delicious Korean food like that Kbop is the place to go! My favorite dish before was the beef bulgogi bowl. But I am now vegan and when I asked them about any vegan options they said there was only tofu kimbop without fish cake or Mayo, tofu bowl without teriyaki sauce, or tofu bibimbop without the egg. I got the tofu bibimbop without the egg (and without roots cuz I don't prefer those) and it was delicious!!! Came here for lunch today. Thought I'd go to Pho Thai Son, but decided to try something new. The restaurant was small but bright and pleasant. I ordered tofu bibimbap. On the picture menu, it was shown with a ramekin of sauce on the side. I'm sorry to say that what I received did not match my expectations for bibimbap. First, as I began mixing up the bowl, I noticed that even though there was a nice helping of tofu cubes, there was also some beef bulgogi in the bowl. I'm an omnivore, so this wasn't a big deal, but come on. Next, the rice was not piping hot. I've always had bibimbap with hot rice - all the better to mix with the runny egg. Finally, there was no ramekin of sauce; it was all in with the rice, and was sweeter and less spicy than I like - plus, it was a frighteningly bright red-orange hue. To top it off, the bowl was garnished with spring mix. Several of the leaves were dark and slimy. Whyyyy? I can pick them off; so can the cook. A woman dining near me also got bibimbap during my visit. Her bowl was so hot it was steaming. Maybe I just got the bottom of the pot. Oh well. read more

Me and my wife came for the flavor and we found it. We had the seafood ramen and pork Raman as well as a K-Bop bowl with chicken. All three were delicious! Both broths in the ramen amazing! Everything was fresh and tasty! In side had good seating for a place so close to campus! We needed a place like this in Austin! Thank you! read more

It's definitely one of the better places near campus. It's a substantial amount of food for the price that you're paying. I wouldn't go if I wasn't near campus, but I think it's a great college stop! read more

I absolutely love the food and customer service at the San Marcus location. I've never actually had the food from the Austin location but what I want to say is this: do not accidentally order from the Austin location if you are meaning to order from the San Marcos location because you will get yelled at. I was told that because I didn't pay for my food that I " didn't care" when I made a genuine mistake after getting off of a 12 hour shift at the hospital. I understand and I am sorry to KBop Austin for the inconvenience, but if you want to lower the frequency of mistake orders please answer the phone with "K-Bop Austin" and/or have customers pay over the phone read more

What used to be Emo's Kitchen is a newly renovated Korean restaurant! It gives off a Korean "boonshikjib" feel with very cute interior designs. Food was overall really good! We got the Tuna Kimbap ($7) and Dduk Boki ($9). Kimbap was surprisingly a huge portion and dduk boki wasn't that bad either. I'll probably try another Kimbap next time. Service was super fast and owners were so friendly :) They even gave us a complimentary soda! read more

BEST KOREAN FOOD IN TOWN!!! I'm from Houston and brought my family who was visiting from California and we were super excited to find some Korean food! Omg!!! Best food ever!!!!! It was like 12 of us rolling deep into this awesome little gem, they had soooo many delicious dishes! The shrimp kimpops are sooooo tasty and the Ramyun was super good with cheeeessseee and kimchi! The Thai tea here is by far the best I've ever had. Best of all the customer service was amazing. The owner was super awesome and treated us with the best quality service ever! Went here a couple weeks ago, it was a little busy but food came out quick. My order got messed up but they were sure to fix it and refund the difference. Haven't had a good kimbap roll like that since I lived in Korea, it was fresh and a really good portion size. Y'all this food was so good. Droooool. I had the bulgogi bowl and all the flavors and textures were superb. It was a pretty big portion (I ate it all cause it was so darn good, my friend on the other hand took like half of it to go). It came with a generous helping of meat, a fried egg (with runny yolk which I love), soft crystal noodles, rice, and all drizzled with savory sauces. The rice at the bottom caught all the yummy juices of the top ingredients and ugh it was so good. This place has seating along the big booths or along the tables at the side. I don't believe they had WiFi and if you're a Ut student the campus WiFi doesn't seem to reach this area aha. They had a lot of other options of Korean foods that I'd be curious to try. Food: This is more of a korean fusion restaurant. They serve popular korean dishes such as bulgogi, katsu (both pork and chicken), jigae, ramen, etc. and add a unique twist on them. For example, the bulgogi was served in a bowl with rice and glass noodles--a little too greasy, and is topped with a fried egg and a special sauce. Overall, the flavor of the food is as good as it gets, but the portions are slightly smaller than average. The pricing ranges from around $7-$11. Ambiance: K-Bop has completely remodeled the interior (and exterior, I believe), giving the space a very clean and modern feel to this restaurant. It is rustic themed and has lots of natural sunlight coming into the space (aka: good for instagram pictures). There's also plenty of seating area to accommodate both small and large parties. However, the restaurant is small and might be crowded during peak meal hours, so don't be surprised if you're elbow-to-elbow with another party. I noticed that there was a lot of bumping around due to the narrow layout of the restaurant, which made me slightly uncomfortable, but it didn't really lessen my experience! Service: The workers are quick on their feet and the food comes out quickly. This is a self-service restaurant (pay at counter / self-seating). Also, don't forget to clean up after yourselves! Drinks: I didn't purchase a drink, but I noticed that many people ordered bubble tea and seemed to enjoy it. For those who don't want to purchase drinks, water jugs are placed on every table along with plastic cups. The water is flavored with fresh lemon and mint, but I believe you can ask for plain water if you'd like. Tl;dr-- Although the portions are on the smaller side, I truly believe the food is made with quality & served promptly. Plus, you don't have to tip at the end of the meal. The atmosphere is really clean and inviting, and you can tell the business cares about the sanitation and cleanliness for customers. The food here is great. However, today I made an online order and I've always ordered online thru their website! Their website clearly states that's the Dduk Boki has noodles in it, and I also got extra rice which was $1. When I received my order, I didn't have any noodles in my entree, and I didn't get my rice either. I contacted them, and they said they couldn't give me a refund and theres nothing they can do because it was an online order (which I have no clue what obligations they would have because of that), and that apparently the take out order of Dduk boki doesn't have noodles.... read more

I have really high standards for Korean food so I'm unfortunately going to be very critical of this place. It's definitely Korean fusion and catered more towards Americans than anything. The restaurant itself looks like a typical NYC food spot, it's small and packed but if you go when it isn't too busy, it won't feel super cramped (obviously). Everything is more or less self-service Korean style. You get your own table, go up and order your food, they call it out and you go get it, and then clean up after yourself after you're done eating. I've tried a couple of things on their menu like the bulgogi fried rice and ddukbokki (spicy rice cake) and some of their kimbap. The fried rice was not bad, but nothing spectacular. Just average. I didnt think their sauces were particularly yummy either. The ddukbokki was probably tje best in my opinion. It was spicy enough and they alsi made it sweet to add to the flavora and there was a good balace to the two. They add cheese on top so try to eat it fresh instead of to-go because the cheese will kind of harden. They have an egg and stuff too so it wasn't just cabnage and rice cakes (unlike some other restaurants). The kimbap was meh. As in it wasnt worth it for me and I probably won't buy it here again. They put way too much rice on the outside and it takes away from the taste. It just makes you full, and i definitely didn't pay for just some rice and seaweed. All in all, this place isnt horrible but it wasn't great. I'll may or may not come back because it just didn't seem like anything special to me. read more

K-Bop is one of those restaurants that makes me crave Korean food all the time. I love their food! On a side note, I am not Korean so I can't comment on the authenticity. Portions are reasonable to the prices and the location; I usually get the bibimbap. I hope they expand one day because it is always so crowded. It would also be greatly appreciated if they closed later in the night. The owner, or at least the tall Korean man, is one of the nicest people I've met. K-Bop is a good quality place to get your everyday Korean fix. Located next to Taco Bell Cantina on Guadalupe, this small place is serving up some pretty good Korean food. The atmosphere is filled with tight-knit spaces, K-Pop music from Youtube on Auto Play, decorative walls, small table settings and a smell you can't resist. The speed of service is pretty quick to, averaging about a 3-5 minute wait (depending on what kind of food you get). The last time I went here, I got a Bibimbop, and for $9, it was not too bad. The bowl was big, it was quite filling, gives you lots of ingredients to mix together, and they all have a great taste! One thing I appreciate is the various pickedled vegetables inside (like cucumber, carrots, bean sprouts, etc.) Also, kudos to the free kimchi on the side, I definitely need my kimchi fix every once in a while. If you plan to bring a group, don't bring a group too big, maybe like 6 max is a good number. Just be ready to be sitting shoulder to shoulder (almost for this reason). Give it a try today! I really like this little Korean restaurant. The bright yellow just screams COME INSIDE! Inside is tiny with not a lot of setting so I would not come here to catch up with a long-lost friend. Just eat and go. But being in the middle of college town it is the right place to get a quick bite to eat. Our group ordered the kimchi fried rice, ton katus and soon doo boo jijgae soup. My kids had the ton katus which was way too sweet for their taste. My soup did not come out at the same time as the other two dishes so I kept eating off my husband, who got the kim chi fried rice and its DELISH! The rice is topped off with egg and sauce. SO when my soup came out it was worth the wait. The soup comes out sizzling. (posted a video) It had pieces of seafood with soft tofu. Also had a side of rice with fried seaweed toppings and a fried egg. Besides the loud kpop music from the TV, this place will satisfy a Korean food craving. read more

Cute little Korean spot near campus! I ordered the bulgogi kimbap and I was shocked at how large it is. I'm used to very normal-sized kimbap so this was really filling as a meal and I was full on just the kimbap alone. I like that they have a great variety of Korean food options for a pretty standard but reliable menu. The spot also feels more like a Korean restaurant with self serve water and kimchi as well as long picnic-style tables. It is a bit cramped here, and loud during lunch hours, but I think it's a great place to come for lunch if you're on campus. read more

I have eaten Kbop twice a week since I discovered it, the first time I had a tempura pork dish with gravy that was not really my style. I probably would have given it 3 stars. The second time I got the bulgolgi bowl and OMG this thing is platinum. First off it's a huge bowl of rice, glass noodles, bulgolgi, an over easy egg, and slathered in sauce. I ask for kimchi and mix it in too and this thing will blow your mind. I have brought my friends here too and they are like WHOH. Trust me, go to KBop and get the bulgolgi bowl. read more

It's interesting that this location is taken over by another Korean establishment. I just hope it lasts on the drag! Inside is really tiny but cozy. Don't be afraid of sharing your table with other strangers. You feel like you're in a kpop music video with the music blasting loud and folks speaking in Korean over the counter and in the kitchen area. I ordered the Kimchi kimbap, Spicy chicken bowl and taro smoothie. The kimchi kimbap although generous in size, was standard and not very impressive or memorable. Even the kimchi didn't taste very fresh. If anything it overpowered the whole kimbap. The spicy chicken bowl was surprising. I actually enjoyed this dish and thought the proportion of meat was decent. As for the taro smoothie, I will never get again. It's so heavy with cream and fake powder flavors that I could barely drink half of the cup. I felt bad for wasting especially since I love taro but not this time. Even the cashier said it was her favorite and I believed her. Never again, it was gross. I actually wouldn't recommend any of their bubble tea drinks since they make it with powder. read more

The DdukBoki was more like a ramen dish with a lot of soup and noodles.. the tonkasu has a strange mushroom gravy sauce but tasted okay. Stopped by with a friend for lunch and ordered the cheese kimbop to-go! The portions were pretty filling and worth the $8 in my opinion, and I ended up eating the leftovers for dinner. Very satiating yet light and non-greasy/doesn't make you feel gross afterwards. The cheese definitely tied in all of the other food bits nicely, but I would probably order a different flavor next time, such as beef bulgogi. It was kind of difficult to eat each kimbap in one go and they did fall apart easily if not eaten with chopsticks. What I had: APPS - Fried Dumplings: they were fine, a little bland, and the dough kinda chewy and oily. The sauce was also a sweet chili sauce with carrot which was an unconventional choice for dumplings, and tasted kinda processed. KOREAN SUSHI - House Kimbop: the rice was not great. It wasn't fluffy, it was wet and compact, just ick. I couldn't really taste the mayo, I couldn't taste the fish cake (which was disappointing), I think all I could taste was the "texture," the crunch of carrots and radish, as it was overwhelmed by the bland rice. - Don (Pork) Katsu Bimbop: this was better! But mostly because of the mayo/eel sauce cabbage slaw that accompanied it. It provided a needed extra flavor and a pleasant texture to distract from the disappointing rice. But also, the katsu was good, not too dry, but the radish and rice generally dominated. I might try the bowls here in the future, but I don't think I'd try anything else. However, the past few times I've gone there or got delivered the food has been missing items or even just completely wrong. For instance no kimchi in the Kimchi jjigae. Now it's a more hip, trendy Korean joint that serves Korean food that is more Americanized, which I guess was a good business move on their part, considering Americans are less intimidated and come in to eat. I've gotten the spicy chicken bowl and the pork Katsu here and both are simply okay. Satisfying, but I've had better. The katsu's sauce is decent and the rice bowl had too much rice in it and not enough meat. All in all, it's convenient and quick if you're craving Korean food. They have lemon water here, which I quite enjoy. I've never tried their boba tea but it looks alright as well. Very limited seating and will have to share a big table with other people usually. My new go to for comfort food. I've never had dduk boki or ton katsu but I've always wanted to try them. They did not disappoint. Three kinds of pasta in a spicy sauce? They've got my number. And the unique flavor of the katsu has me going back for more. I've just discovered them during COVID so I can't speak to the indoor service. But their service in the middle of a pandemic? Excellent!
