First time here and the food was not bad. They have a variety of selection. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and the price was 18.99 per adult and 1.80 x age for kids. It was one of the better buffets in the SGV. However, do not expect good service from this place. The server gave us the bill 10 minutes after we were seated. I was like WTH?! we barely started eating our first plate! It took forever to get someone to refill our drinks. The servers decided to stand there to chi chat instead of paying attention to their customers. Went to Kami because online it had crab legs and shrimp tempura my favorites. Went there for dinner costing about $24 and they said crab legs and shrimp tempura is not on the menu anymore. So why do they still have it on the internet. Very deceiving because I went by what the internet said. Now food was just mediocre at best. Don't waste your money. It was the worse buffet I have ever eaten at. They have the worse customer service. We weren't there for more than 40 minutes when they were already trying for us to leave. The place was dirty and the food was horrible don't get fooled by the 5 star reviews. This place is delicious at a great price and because of that they do get packed and even have lines coming out into the parking lot. So if you have a large group in the evening or weekend be sure to call ahead to see the wait time or just expect to wait. Their food options are typical of Asian buffets, nothing stands out. This place is located at really good location! Right by the 60 freeways!! So came here Monday around 6:30pm to try their buffet and it was ok. The food was ok. Good: - Service is pretty good - didn't have to wait too long - a lot of selections (seafood, meat, veggies, desserts) Bad: - the plates were wet or some were still dirty even though they were in the clean pile - some food had been cross contaminated for ex. Fried banana had fish smell because people used the same spoon to get the fish and the fried bananas. - some food were not off - just bland or super salty - desserts were all dried and not super fresh - this place is huge and it gets really crowded. You sometimes have to fight for your shrimp/crawfish/king crab because the person in front of you might get like 10+ crawfish/king crab and leave you like one small piece.... it's a buffet... I ate dinner here with my sister and where do I begin. We walked in and the air was filled with a urine scent. I was alittle worried but still gave this place a chance. The food trays were empty and what was left was absolutely disgusting. Meat that was all fat and salt, chicken that tasted sour, crab legs that wouldn't open and smelled fishy, and sushi that was warm. We sat down with 2 plates each. After taking a bite of kimchi that tasted like Chemicals I saw a rodent running across the room. I tried to tell the waitress but she ignored me. We immediately went to the manager named GRACE. GRACE was very aggressive and ferocious. She claimed I ate 16 plates of food which is not humanly possible. "You ate 16 plates of food I saw you." "Your kind wants a free meal". "Go away I don't care if you saw a rat". GRACE refused to give us a refund for 2 practically untouched plates. My sister went to the bathroom feeling sick from the smell at the front register. The toilets were covered in caca. The floor was flooded with piss and blood was on the toilet paper. I can't believe this place is still open. Truly an out of body experience. read more

So, here's the most awful experience of my life... it's my mother's 60th birthday. And she wanted to invite all her friends to her favorite buffet restaurant, in which she's been going to for the past year at least once a month. So, we reserve for a party of 60. But on the day of, 67 people arrive. One extra 8 person table (in A HALF FULL RESTAURANT). The staff and manager know that I'm paying for this meal, but instead, they go to the birthday girl and complain to her about the extra table. Mind you, the majority of the people invited are at or older than my mom's age, so evite and phone calls can be dicey, but seriously, ruining a woman's birthday party over an extra table at a HALF FULL RESTAURANT??? So fine, we take an extra table. And with 67 people, the party runs about 2 hours. (which for the amount of people, is not bad. And I must reiterate- the RESTAURANT WAS HALF FULL!!!). As a side note- the food was not fresh (seafood was definitely past its prime, and the oil used to fry the food was old and stale). But fine, we ate and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves (except the birthday girl because the manager kept going over there to complain to her about how noisy we were [it's a buffet for goodness sakes], how people were not seated at the table because we kept walking to other tables to chat [again- it's a buffet for goodness sakes- does anyone at a buffet stay seated???], and to complain about us hogging the tables again [the restaurant WAS HALF FULL!!!]. Long story short- worst customer service EVER! The wait staff, headed by the manager, belittles their customers (thinking many of us don't understand Chinese- and it may be true, I saw many non Asians at the restaurant), provides little to no customer service (the meal for my party of 67 included a drink and many people did not get one or was asked for one), and then goes and deliberately ruins the day for the guest of honor (they knew it was a party for my mom and that I booked and paid for it, but instead of coming to me, they went to her. If that was not deliberate sabotage of someones special day, I don't know what is). I hope the owners of this restaurant see this, because I will tell you that you have lost 67 customers who live around your restaurant. I heard many of the comments as well as the party guests. Your staff was not even trying to hide their snarky comments. Honestly this is by far the best Asian buffet in the San Gabriel area. Food isn't salty, oily and loaded with msg. I didn't have to leave and chug down gallons of water. The sushi selection amazing huge and delicious. The Chinese food was pretty good as well. Not too oily and cooked at my right taste :) (most Asian buffet is horrible and taste like frozen food). I enjoyed the soup selection :) I love the chicken soup with ginseng. Yummy. I rather come here during lunch hours rather than dinner. Super packed. I love the prices. It's not overrated. For a $10 buffet place, this is better than decent. In fact, this is better than Zen Buffet. The shear variety of hot and cold food there is amazing - the line seems to go on unto infinity! :) While the quality is only OK, but like many other low-end Chinese buffet place, the service and presentation are both lacking. I had fond memories of Charlie Browns from years ago. Although their quality and business had turn downhill for the past 10 years, the shadow of what it was still firmly embedded in my memory. We came here for Christmas lunch. There was about a 30-40 min wait but it went by pretty quickly. They have a pretty large sushi and sushi roll selection and it was pretty fresh. I had the salmon and tuna sashimi. The salmon was pretty good but the tuna did not taste fresh at all --I had to spit it out. Eeek. There was a fairly big selection of cooked clams, crab, mussels, oysters, snails, and crab legs. Other than the seafood, everything else was extremely mehh. The teppan grill guy over cooked the noodles and all the meats. Small dessert section. The worst part was, we all had stomach aches while we were there but my mom got food poisoning when she got home and ended up throwing up the rest of the night. I decided to come here for lunch on Saturday around 2ish and surprisingly this place was pretty packed. I had to sit in the section that was to the side of their main dining area. Pricing for weekend is $18.99 per person and it's good for the entire day. They had crab legs, blue crab, mussels, clam, crawfish, squid salad, Whelk salad, Korean short ribs, whole whelks, a bunch of sushi, salad, soups, desserts, ice cream and a variety of fruits, but one thing I've not seen at a buffet is rambutan. I have never tried it before so I decided to give it a try and it tastes pretty good similar to lychee and longan. This place definitely has a real good variety of items for the price and especially the rambutan. They also make sure all the dishes are refilled constantly so that's a really good sign. I'll definitely come back again just for the rambutan! read more

This was my first time at Kami and I thought it was going to be the typical asian buffet, but oh was I wrong! I came here on a Saturday night at 7pm with a party of 12. The wait was about 30 mins. They do not take reservations as this place was crowded! The food was fresh and had a large variety. There were sushi rolls, sashimi, soup, hot foods, seafood, cocktail shrimp, and a make your own noodle plate with a man who cooks it fresh for you. The best thing there was the king crab legs! Very sweet and not fishy tasting. They also have a chocolate fountain and lots of little pastries. I gave this place 4 stars only because the servers would not pick up our plates. this is a mostly Asian buffet....but the food selection is great...the have all types of Asian food. They even have Mongolian bbq, sushi, crab legs. The food was great, it was really tasty. I really like the chow me in for some reason. The Cajun shrimp was also good. I had California roll, spicy salmon and some other type of California roll and they were all real good. Breaded shrimp was good. The crab legs were tasty. The steak was also real soft and really seasoned well was really good. Overall I really like the food and the food selection. I would give 4 stars but the customer service wasn't really great. we where about an hour and half and not once where offered a refill of water. They didn't even bring water to us we had to ask for some. But if you can get around that u should come try it out. The place is huge too. read more

The food was decent, some dishes stood out more than others. The fare was very similar to other Chinese Buffets. There were a few dishes that stood out and others that fell flat, but that could change depending on the cook. The eggplant in oyster sauce was good, the coconut dumplings were delish, the white fish in soy sauce was also good. The grill was good, it was so good that there was a long line which took about 10 minutes to get my food on the oven (don't forget to bring $1 for a tip). Some of the dishes were heated on ceramic plates so I don't think they kept the heat. They weren't necessarily cold, but they weren't hot either. There were a lot of people on the day that we went (Wednesday) during lunch hour, but we didn't have to wait at all, so there are enough seats. If you can get seated by the windows, it's a decent view. For $9.95 (excluding drinks) it's a good price, but it didn't really stand out more than any other buffet, except for a few extraordinary dishes. Definitely worth a visit. read more

The rice was hard, the fish choice was limited to basically only salmon, and the hot food had no flavor. Lunch with friends at Kami today. This is my second visit since they opened a few years ago. The buffet is extensive with a wide variety of dishes from salads appetizers my dishes to desserts. I started with the chef cooking crab shrimp beef onions mushrooms peppers and noodles on the grill for me. This is my favorite part of the buffet. After finishing the above I enjoyed a plate of traditional sushi, sashimi, and poke. The staff is constantly replacing these as they are taken by the guests keeping the most popular ones fairly fresh. My next trip I picked up crab, shrimp, clams, mussels, and fish. My seafood plate. A variety of preparation techniques made this an enjoyable plate. I followed this with the Chinese plate of dishes like orange chicken an beef and broccoli. My last pass was for desserts of ice cream with Spanish peanuts and chocolate sauce. There are many other desserts than this from cookies, cake, puddings, flan, and fondue. I skipped the plentiful fresh fruit and salad sections of the buffet. All this will have me skipping dinner tonight for sure. The staff was attentive taking away emptied plates and refilling my glass of water. This is a great deal for a lunch meal at around $14 including tax. read more

Great buffet place if you on a budget or if you do not know what to eat. Lunch time on weekdays is $11 per person! Great steal! Where can you really find a place like that? Food is decent;nothing special. The only thing I normally get is the squid sushi. Eating a plate (8pcs) of it already gets your money worth. They have a great selection of Chinese food (dim sum,fried rice,noodles,soup) to sushi to Mongolian food. However, if you want some Korean food, the only thing you get is Kimchi. I'm honestly not sure why this place is so busy all the time. The food here is mediocre at best, and not the freshest. It surprised me that they had a pretty extensive selection of sushi rolls, sashimi, and crab legs. Their sushi section also carried escolar sashimi, which is something I have never seen in any buffet. The quality and freshness is not the best though; some of the fish definitely had a slight fishiness to it, and the rolls had heavily seasoned rice and sauces to keep me from tasting any ingredients. The hot foods section was small and uninspiring; none of the food was piping hot. The fried foods seemed to come from frozen bags since none of it was very crisp or even seasoned. The fruit tasted like dirt, and their soft serve tasted incredibly watered down and powdery. Aside from the food, service here at least was redeeming. They were quick to accomodate our needs, and were attentive and quick about clearing any empty plates on tables. My party was seated right by the door to outdoor seating, and the servers that came in and out made sure that we didn't get any cold air rushing in by closing the doors after they went outside or came back in. Parking is fine, but you may need to wait to find a spot during busy hours, or park in spaces by the motel in the same lot. I only come to this place whenever family dinners are decided, and never out of my own free will. If you can live with yourself being fed without particularly liking any of the food offered, you'll be fine. Otherwise, definitely try out another place! read more

Always be wary of buffet sushi. Mixed batch of new and old food.... Nuggets were cool, took three pieces of chicken, 2 were fresh, 1 was old. Just observed while writing this review. The audacity to put a tip jar on the Mongolian cooking station when customer just asks a random question and and the "cook" gives him mad attitude. Clearly don't wanna be there seeing as he got his headphones plugged in while cooking lol. Just saw an OG take crabs from the tray with his bare hands. SON LOL!
