It was very easy to make a reservation yesterday on Open Table as the promised a nice 100 points for dining at Krua Thai. We did indeed dine there in their very small restaurant that was virtually empty. We were seated at a tiny table that did not have sufficient room for our appetizers and entrees although the food was fairly good so we left a nice tip. This morning, the restaurant canceled the reservation to keep us from receiving Open Table points even though we did indeed dine there. Upon contacting the restaurant, we were told there is nothing they can do and suggested we try it again. As history has a tendency too repeat itself, that is probably not a good idea. Our last meal from here was great, so we ordered again. Cream cheese tassies. What a treat. Crab and cream cheese and scallions in pastry, what's not to like. Their Pad Thai makes the whole house smile, so delicious and tasty that everyone has a bit, enough to share. Blue Pea is actually a pop-up run by RAW Sugar Factory, which means that when you go to RAW Sugar Factory, you can order either brunchy/lunchy items or more traditional Thai dishes. It only took a couple of minutes for food to be ready (a HUGE plus, because parking is expensive in the SF area). I ordered the basil stir-fry with shrimp, and thought it tasted amazing! There was just enough level of spiciness to balance out the sweetness of the stir-fry sauce they used. I also got a pretty generous portion of shrimp and veggies at a very reasonable price. The pineapple fried rice was my favorite out of the two dishes ordered. The portion size is decent for 2 people to have a bot of everything to try. The food was very fresh and beautifully presented. We got really great seating and were happy with the entire experience. Golly, this place has changed hands yet again as 525 Valencia has become a revolving door for ethnic eateries. Let's see, it was a traditional Indian restaurant predictably called Maharaja for at least six years in the mid-naughts and then it focused more specifically on the cuisine of Goa when it became Gajalee. I liked the lightness of the food then, but I guess dishes from Goa did not go with the local hipsters who gone up and left. It subsequently turned into a decidedly mediocre Mediterranean spot for a brief time, Valencia & Kebob of the convenient "(neighborhood) & Kebob" chain. And now it's an Asian fusion place called BLUE Pea, at least in the evening as it turns into RAW Sugar Factory during the day when they serve breakfast and brunch plates. Huh? My head is spinning. I came here simply because it looked like there were a few dishes that I could order without the guilt of violating my flexitarian diet. The best duck coconut curry I ever had. My favorite dish on the menu. The duck was very soft and tender. Love the seasonal fruits, adding some sweetness to the dish. Everything else was just okay. Got the garlic noodles over shrimp, fried rice over fried chicken as entrees. Noodles better than the rice because its just egg and rice, stir fry together. As for appetizers, really like the chicken wrap, flavorful. The taro samosa was okay but one of my friend thought it was way too sweet. Also got the jalapeno calamari, on the sweeter side. BLUE Pea is the "dinner concept" of RAW Sugar Factory, a brunch restaurant in the same location (and formerly known as Brown Sugar Factory). BLUE Pea offers delicious thai fusion cuisine. I highly recommend the BLUE Pea Duck, which comes in a red coconut curry sauce - delicious! The Tuna Poke was good, but a bit too sweet for our taste. Same with the jalapeno calamari - not as spicy as we would have preferred and too much sweet chili sauce. This is NOT a cocktail bar, as Yelp suggests. In fact, they do not have a liquor license, so they only sell wine, beer, and low ABV cocktails (mostly based on sake, soju, wine, and triple sec). The cocktails seemed overpriced given the ingredients - most were around $13. On a Saturday evening the wait isn't too bad, and after dinner hours (e.g. after 9) there's often no wait at all. Parking in the area is challenging, so leave time to find a spot. read more

We came here on a Saturday night for a quick bite to eat, and were seated immediately. All of us were craving some pad see u so we ordered 3 of those with chicken. When the food came out, the smell made my mouth water because it smelled that delicious. The pad see u was flavorful, and not too oily like I've noticed other pad see u usually have. I would say that it does need a little more greens, but I enjoyed all the noodles. Apparently this place is basically a ghost kitchen now, and the lack of food quality makes that clear. I decided to order a green curry as a standard baseline for judging a Thai place. My friend ordered the "plummy duck". I ordered my curry with salmon and I specifically asked for it spicy, which the server acknowledged. Well the plummy duck came out over 5 minutes before my curry, and I watched my friends reaction. He wasn't too happy, it was literally swimming in duck sauce and the duck pieces were kind of dry and chewy. I tasted a piece and it seemed like maybe at some point it had been decent but it was clearly just thrown onto a plate and microwaved. Obvious by the way it was dried out and steaming. Just awful, especially for $22. Finally my green curry arrived, with a side of rice. The rice was basic rice cooker fare, which is fine. The green curry was as watery as it could possibly be, which isn't necessarily a problem if it was tasty but it was bland as hell, AND super sweet! Not a hint of spiciness or even any semblance of any complex flavor. The vegetables were obviously from a bag of frozen mixed vegetables. This meal had never even seen a knife I can assure you. It was funny to read someone's five star review here that the green curry was "full of yummy mixed vegetables from peas to string beans" yeah you can buy a bag of those for a dollar lady. People like you are the reason they can get away with this garbage. Did I mention it was sweet as hell? Disgustingly sweet. The only slight saving grace was the salmon, which although unseasoned in any way at least wasn't overcooked and still had some juiciness to it. Went here on a Sunday afternoon and absolutely loved the place! It was really easy to get a table and we got seated quickly and we're able to order pretty fast. The dishes we got were also very flavorful and small enough that it was pervert for a lunch side meal.
