We def wont get food from here again. 1- when the food arrived, the Rice was missing 2- the avokado rolls didnt seem fresh (and there were actually a few rolls that didnt even have avokado in) 3- majority of the food was cold 4- i wouldnt choose the 'veggie' option here as the only veggies they seem to have are carrots and broccoli The reason I give it 2 stars is because when we called to say the Rice was missing, they were pretty quick in bringing it out again. This is probably my favorite restaurant for Asian Fusion in the Mission. I've been here a few times before and decided to host a private event here for 20 people and we were very IMPRESSED. We got our own private room in the back and the table set up was beautiful! The venue is newly renovated, chic and clean. It was open bar and our guests were delighted with the wine list and the soju cocktails. The food was delicious and we had so much food we couldn't finish it all. We had a dedicated staff of three and we never had to raise our hand for anything. They were attentive, helpful and always happy. We had a great time and will definitely come back again! read more

My friend wanted to come here to celebrate her birthday. I was fascinated because San Francisco is well known for Asian Fusion restaurants. Judging from the Yelp reviews and after scanning the environment, I thought that this restaurant looked promising. ENVIRONMENT - 4/5 Rate Blue Pea is located on Valencia Street by 16th Street (parallel with Mission Street). The settlng is somewhat small but very modern and attractuve. There are a lot of chairs and tables, great for small or big groups. The setting definitely fits in the category of an Asian Fusion Restaurant. The bathroom was clean and everything looks sanitary. JALAPENO CALAMARI - 4/5 Rate I always have a thing with calamaries for appetizes. They were delicious. It was more sweet rather than hot. They were deep fried very well and presented very nicely. Although, the portions were quite small. A little bit more wouldn't hurt. GARLIC NOODLES - 3/5 Rate Our waiter highly recommended the garlic noodles. I always had a great experience with garlic noodles. I ordered this dish with fried chicken. The presentation looked amazing. The fried chicken was very tasty but slightly dry in some parts. However, the noodles were just bland. There was no taste to it. I was kind of disappointed with the wonderful colors and presentation but lack of taste. The noodles itself were cooked perfectly though. SERVICE - 4/5 Rate Service was good. They checked in from time to time, our waters were refilled many times, and our orders were accurate. My friend and I had reserved a table for this place, but in the end it didn't seem necessary, because there weren't very many people in the restaurant at all. Of what we ordered, I would rank the samosas at the top, then the curry noodle bowl, and finally the garlic noodles. The samosas were crispy with a smooth inside, however the taro flavor too subtle. The cucumber salad was a fresh touch, however nothing seemed very unique. The curry flavor of the curry noodle bowl had the perfect sweet and spicy balance, however the chicken was somewhat tough and the vegetables seemed to just be thrown on top. There was a heap of raw onions, raw cabbage, raw bean sprouts, and a haphazard half of a hard boiled egg. The noodles themselves were slightly too mushy for my taste. The garlic noodles tasted plain, a VERY intense garlic flavor, and same complaint about the noodle's mushiness. The decor was nice, an attempt at modern decor. The restaurant had more of a cafe vibe than anything, especially because the music was pretty throwback. I was annoyed with the ceiling fans, and I'm sure others with long hair were as well. But that's more of personal preference. The servers were courteous, polite, and prompt. No complaints there. Overall, would not necessarily recommend for a nice evening. It's better as a casual lunch, however priced a little high for my experience. read more

I strolled in here on a random Sat with a group of friends because I was able to snag a reservation like an hour before we showed up. The food was pretty good, I got the Khao Soi and asked to sub for the thick rice noodles and they obliged! delicious and decently priced and they had great service. Blue pea is an easy and unassuming place for a casual thai dinner. Their menu has all the thai classics (pad thai, pad kee mao, spring rolls, etc), prepared quite well and at reasonable prices. I'd even venture to say that blue pea is a better dinner choice than farmhouse - given how expensive farmhouse is for marginally better thai classics and some overpriced signature dishes. Another positive for blue pea is that it's rarely packed. If you're in the heart of the mission looking for an easy dinner spot, blue pea meets the bar. read more

During the day time, they are Brown Sugar Factory. And at night, they are BLUE pea. Alan, one of the partners, told us over dinner that they made this distinction as some people don't believe breakfast people can do Asian foods. I didn't try the breakfast/brunch, but I tried the Asian dinner and omg this was soooo good. Most of the dinner foods are family recipes and they'll bring you back to your childhood. Friend and I tried the calamari, duck, and pork chop for this evening. All three were knock-outs. Calamari was perfect combo of crispy and chewy. Duck was cooked beautifully and came with a beautiful curry. Pork chops tasted like thit kho like my Vietnamese family makes. Restaurant just recently opened so it wasn't crowded at all, but they deserve the success! The food, service, and pleasant music in the background make this place so nice. Blue Pea - Asian Fusion dinner concept. Operated by the same team as Brown Sugar Factory. The owners have been part of the SF restaurant scene for a long time and finally unveiled a new concept for their new venture. I've come here for dinner several times after it first opened in March. They have an interesting menu. Appetizers, Noodles, and Entrees - all of which have Pan-Asian influence. Samosas / Curry Puffs (sweet taro filling) and Fresh rolls with avocado and red leaf are a must try here. Curry Puffs are the owner's family recipe. Poke Bowl - fresh sashimi, Japanese seaweed and ginger. I recommend order it with Blue Pea rice (literally "blue rice" - the color naturally comes from blue flowers from Thailand) Garlic Noodles - intense flavor with generous garlic and fiery jalapenos. Don't expect greasy / buttery garlic noodles like many other places make. Crispy Pad Thai - Crispy noodles stir-fried with sweet and tangy sauce and jumbo shrimps. The dish reminds me of Mee-Krob (Crispy Noodle in Thai). It is a different take for Pad Thai. Call me old school, but I still preferred the original Pad Thai more. Overall, great food at reasonable prices ($$). Wine and beer (on tap and bottle). Cozy ambiance. Come try Blue Pea before the words get out! I am sure they will be very busy soon. read more

The food doesn't blow your mind exactly but it is quickly prepared comfort food. Pad thai: 5/5. I remember it being light and satisfying. My only complaint was there wasn't much shrimp added for the extra $3 to switch to shrimp, but still I'd recommend shrimp over the other proteins. I would definitely order again since it's also moderately priced and is a perfect weekday pick-me-up. Garlic noodles: 3.5/5. I remember feeling OK about it. The garlic was fresh and raw which has a bit of a kick to it and combined with the oiliness, it felt a little heavy. Pad see u: 3/5. I got this with chicken and am not a fan. It's a bit oilier than the pad thai and tasted heavily of soy sauce. The chicken was a bit rubbery as well. I wouldn't order this again, but on the other hand, some person on ubereats claims this is the best pad see u, so, maybe it's just my taste! I'm open to trying other things on the menu too because they're fast and they usually have quiet seating. If you are confused when looking for it, Blue Pea is inside RAW Sugar Factory. We went to BLUE Pea for a friend's birthday. (Note: he is Yelp Elite so I knew he did a lot of research on the restaurant - he said it was good but underrated). Indeed, we arrived at 6 PM on a Saturday, and there weren't too many people. The interior was very clean and cute, and the menu had creatively named items like intoxicated noodles (spin on drunken noodles) and pad c u. We ordered a bunch of items to share: Avocado Fresh Roll (love the avocados, although would've liked some shrimp / meat in there) Tango Tango Curry Vegetarian hot pot (essentially just a pot of tofu... not really something I would eat as a dish by myself) Intoxicated udon noodle (we couldn't resist - I really liked the unique blend of Japanese/Thai) Crispy pad thai noodle (which reminded me of the Asian crispy noodle snacks I used to eat as a kid) Blue pea's duck (the duck was very tender - definitely the best dish of BLUE Pea) BLUE Pea also had yummy sake - a little sweet and wheaty. I took my family here last month, and we all greatly enjoyed our experience at Blue Pea. We started with samosas, which were a perfectly crispy-spicy-sweet start to the meal. The cucumber salad that comes paired with them almost outshined the samosas though; in retrospect, I should have ordered more of the cucumber salad as a side! To drink, I got a glass of watermelon sangria that multiple people at the table described as a perfect recreation of a watermelon Jolly Rancher. While alone it was quite sweet, it paired perfectly with my entree: the Drunken Noodles with tofu, which had quite a kick! Others at the table highly recommended the Tango Tango curry and the Peppery Beef. This is a perfect spot for a wide variety of tastes. They are incredibly accommodating to vegetarians and vegans, and since I was eating vegetarian at the time of our visit while the rest of my family was decidedly not, no one had to compromise with the plethora of options available at Blue Pea. read more

I don't have a low spice tolerance, but I still found this dish to be SUPER spicy, to the extent that the spice overwhelmed the other flavors of the dish and made it painful to get through. Limited outdoor seating only. Staff is wearing proper PPE. There are only six tables. Three are on the sidewalk close to foot traffic, which I would not recommend. Another three are on the street, which is further from passerbys. Service is slow, but polite. We had the khao soi and the pad see ew. The Khao Soi was very unique and absolutely delicious. The curry was fragrant, and the noodles were chewy but substantial enough to hold on to the curry. The chicken was tender. The fried noodles offered a nice variety in texture to each bite. Just received delivery from Blue Pea, first time. Pad Thai - yesterday's fried tofu reheated - not edible....likely fried a few days ago? I'm not sure I just know it's not cooked today. Also has soggy, overcooked vegetables. My order was right after they opened today, I think they just sent me left overs from yesterday - for some of the ingredients. The green curry, with chicken - is about 1/4th oil, never seen anything like this. Also overcooked vegetables. Other weirdness like peas that were frozen which isn't bad, but these taste freezer burned. Sometimes you just get unlucky when trying new restaurants. Came at 915 and they said the kitchen closes at 930. I said ok we made it but were refused service because they said the kitchen closed. After a bit of persuading they finally let us order but only to go .. anyway the menu that I was excited to try out didn't even exist. So long story short the menu you see here is not updated. Being new to the bay area, this is one of the best places that I have dined at. The place is small and cozy and has a nice background music going. Nothing too great but not bad at all. We skipped the starters and went straight to entree. We chose the spicy string beans which was extremely tasty. Of the salad options, we tried the blue pea salad with crispy tofu and this was a little bit of a let down. We also had the Panang curry and the vegetarian pot to go with the pineapple fried rice. Everything brought to our table was satisfyingly flavourful. The one must have dish would be the Panang curry. Overall, Blue Pea is a place I would definitely visit again and suggest to my friends to try out. read more

The owner/manager who took my order was very nice, and service here is great! I had originally received a different order, but the manager reached out and asked me to come back the next day and she would remake the order for me. She did, and gave me free beers as well! The service here is great, and the food was really good! The tofu is fried in the Pad Khee Mao in a way I haven't seen before, so it's crunchy on the outside and soft and flaky on the inside (and trust me, as a vegetarian I have eaten tofu EVERYWHERE). The fried oyster mushrooms are a really good snack to munch on with a cold adult beverage, and the green curry was my favorite part of the meal. My boyfriend and i went here for a date night, we'd never been before but a friend recommended it to us so we thought we'd give it a try! Overall an awesome experience, the service was great, they weren't too busy so the waiters were super attentive and helpful with suggestions from the menu. We started with the Zangria off of their happy hour menu which was homemade and really good. (Happy hour is 5:30-7:30 and the prices are amazing, only $10 for a pitcher of the Zangria!!) As far as the food goes, we got the jalapeño calamari to start which was delicious and not too spicy. I got a coconut curry noodle bowl which was some of the best coconut curry i've ever had, and my boyfriend got something with curry and chicken which he said he really enjoyed too. The menu is super diverse and they have lots of vegan/vegetarian options as well as meaty options, so they can really accommodate everyone. Our total with tip was somewhere around $65-$70 which isn't too bad for a few drinks, appetizers, and 2 entrees. We will definitely be coming back! read more

We got the jalapeno calamari, taro samosas, pad c u, and the blue pea duck. Food came out pretty fast which was nice as we were starving. The calamari wasn't too spicy, had a slight wasabi taste, paired with a sweet mayo, super crunchy. The portion for this isn't that much though. The taro was sweet with doughy cover. We didn't get the garlic noodles as someone hated garlic in our party (crazy right, who hates garlic????). The duck however was absolutely delicious, very rich, creamy and flavorful, the meat cooked tenderly. Pad c u was pretty standard, nothing too special. Came in a party of three on a Friday night, and they conveniently stuck us in the back so the stroller wouldn't get in the way. Nice ambience; good crowd, but not too loud. Bathroom was large and clean, but weirdly dark and frustratingly lacking a changing table. I tried the... DRINKS Mango Tango (sweet and very beach-y; mostly tastes like mango puree, which I like), and a lychee-soju drink (forgot the name; strong and pretty one-note once the ice started melting.) Both drinks were served with two gummy bears impaled on a stick alongside a piece of fruit, which was cute. APPETIZERS Drunken Fries (the dried shredded pork was great, though there could have been more sauce/toppings for the amount of fries) and the Crispy Wings (weirdly served all skewered together, and more sticky than crispy, but good!) ENTREES Crispy Pad Thai (oddly sweet; I wouldn't have guessed it was a version of pad thai if I wasn't told, but I have a sweet tooth so I liked it), the Blue Pea Pad Thai (to compare, and because the waitress recommended it; very ooey-gooey and much heavier than the crispy version, but good), and the Tango Tango curry (solid curry, nice amount of heat but not too spicy, but not particularly memorable.) Best Thai in San Francisco!! This has been our go to spot during COVID and it's both affordable and delicious. My go do order is the chicken pad see eu and it always comes saucy with the chicken perfectly seasoned. Side note: you know it's legit when they actually care to cook the meat separately instead of just throwing on dry flavorless chicken. We've also tried the pad thai and the pad kee mao which are both flavorful and yummy. read more

We had a big group here for dinner and they were pretty accommodating. Chicken wings here were better than expected (well seasoned and crispy) and I definitely would recommend 2 order for a big group. The calamari was good and the dumplings were not worth it. Most of the noodle and curry dishes were of a good size but not super memorable. I would recommend the seafood curry and not bother with the blue pea rice. read more
