Chicken fried steak, white gravy, yams, green beans, wheat roll--combo plate.
    Diana R.

Waitress only came by when we were almost finished with our meal but she was semi-friendly. Had chicken fried steak--it was Super crunchy and over fried but not chewy inside which is what really matters! Well seasoned and white gravy complimented it well. Green beans were very bland which is unusual because I always get them because I always love them so disappointing today. Yams had no marshmallows so that was off as well but still sweet and nutty with pecan bits. Wheat roll was cold and hard on top also disappointing but lathering it in Butter helped off set the dryness.

I never come to Lubys but my mother takes my daughter all the time. Well I finally took my daughter since we wanted fish for Friday. She walked me through how everything worked and service was great though the line, the cashier was very sweet. I wish I got her name but all the workers were very welcoming, engaged in conversation and extremely helpful. If you are wanting something that gives you a home cooked meal I suggest Luby's. My daughter is a Luby's fan so we will be back again!

This to go order was very delicious. We were happy with our meals. We decided to try again after a couple past not so great experiences.

Can I just say I died and went to Heaven! I literally thought all the Lubys were closed down. I was just in far west S.A. and my eyes stumbled upon a Luby's sign. I thought to myself I'm sure that's an abandoned building, but my curiosity got the best of me as I circled my way around to check it out. To my surprise, it was 1 of the 5 remaining Lubys. But wait there's more..... I discovered that they serve turkey and dressing all freaking year long. My life is complete. Got drive thru and made my way home. Ahhhh what a wonderful day it t'was.... :))))

When my sister in love suggested @lubys_249_sa for dinner, I thought there weren't any still open. Good to know that 1604 and Bandera have one. There was quite a line and so it's popularity hasn't waned. Glad they're getting a good crowd to keep its doors open. So many hot piping dishes to choose from! Dad and I shared the Grilled Tilapia with mashed potatoes, mac & cheese, cornbread, and a cup of chicken & rice soup. My husband had the Fried Fish with salad, mashed potatoes, roll, and corn. Good food and easy on the budget.

I came here recently with my wife and her parents. We decided to celebrate Father's Day a day early to avoid crowds. I hadn't been to Luby's in some time, so it was nice to revisit an old favorite from my youth. I decided on the Luann platter with roasted turkey as the entree. My two sides were corn and cabbage. I picked the jalapeño cornbread to complete my meal. I passed on the stuffing as I was trying to avoid too many carbs. I really enjoyed everything about the meal! It felt like Thanksgiving in June. The turkey was nice and moist, and the cornbread actually had some spice to it. The plate had the right amount of food. All in all, it was a good and inexpensive experience. Given to the proximity to my home, I will definitely be back!

    Luby's website for this location

Before beginning this trip for a birthday dinner, I checked the Luby's website AND called their phone (210) 695-4494 to verify that they were indeed open. Both the website AND automated answering system specifically said that they would be open until 8 pm on December 24. So you know, December 24 is my now 79 y.o. Step-father's birthday. I drove from Lytle TX to La Coste TX to pick him and my 80 y.o. mother up from assisted living. We then drove the 28 miles to Luby's. We pulled up at 5:05 pm. Paper sign taped to the door says they closed at 5:00 pm. Banged on the door. A very nice young man Terrance came and answered my insistent banging on the door. Terrance got an earful. I know it wasn't his fault ... but I strongly urged that he pass the level of my severe displeasure to his manager. I don't have any problem with closing early so your employees can spend time with family. But when you're too damned lazy to change your website AND your automated answering system AND I made a 65 mile round trip for nothing ... I have a damned problem!!!

To go regular size Luby's fried fish.

I knew better but... I ordered to go from Luby's on Bandera and 1604. Where to start? Shrinkflation has the fried fish so thin and small now, like a Luann portion but not halved. In one photo you can see that it's a little hollow! Same great taste, but it will leave you wanting more... like a full portion. The cabbage was still a bit raw but also overcooked, they still keep the broccoli in huge tree sizes, but it was good. The jalapeño cornbread had to be from last week. In the pic you can see the delineation from soft to rock hard. The tartar sauce was still good, but overall, a very disappointing meal. If this quality and the prices don't improve, I'm afraid Luby's will fade away as another great San Antonio dining experience that dies a slow and excruciating death.

    He loves his jello.

From the moment we stepped into 6 Klicks Cafe, the vibe was immediate--warm, welcoming, and real. Not forced, not corporate. Just genuine energy. The kind of place where you already know you're about to eat good before you even see the menu. The Food I ordered the grilled chicken marsala, and they didn't just throw it on a plate--they presented it. Everything looked intentional. * Chicken cooked perfectly * Sauce was on point * Mashed potatoes? Had me wanting the recipe after one bite * Green beans with sausage and onion--straight comfort food I also tried the chicken tenders, fries, and Texas toast--everything was done right. Crispy where it needed to be, flavorful across the board. Portion size? Let's be real, it felt like they made the plate for two people. ________________________________________ ‍ Service Service was top-tier. * Greeted immediately * Server knew the menu and helped us decide * Drinks came fast (shoutout to that blackberry tea ) * Food came out in under 10 minutes No waiting, no confusion, no "let me check on that" energy. Just smooth. ________________________________________ Atmosphere This place has identity. It's not trying to be trendy--it's authentic. You can feel the story behind it. Family vibe all day. ________________________________________ Price vs Value Not the cheapest--but worth it. We walked in without a reservation, and I really appreciate that they were able to accommodate us with outdoor seating. The patio had a fun, upbeat atmosphere and was a great place to spend the evening. The drinks were generally very well made, once they were prepared correctly. The food, however, was just okay. I had the cheeseburger with an egg, and while it was decent, it wasn't particularly memorable. The standout was definitely the fries, especially paired with the spicy ketchup. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was the service. Since we were seated outside, it felt like our table was forgotten. We sat for at least 15 minutes without proper plates, napkins, or silverware and had to ask multiple times before everyone was taken care of. We never had enough water glasses for the entire table, drink service was slow throughout the meal, and at one point I walked to the bar myself because my Old Fashioned had been made with agave and was far too sweet. I also had to track down our server just to get the check. Overall, I appreciate that they accommodated a large walk-in party, and the atmosphere and drinks were enjoyable. However, the combination of mediocre food and inattentive service left us disappointed. I don't think I'd return, as it felt like our table was simply forgotten once we were seated outside.

The first issue was using the InKind app. We spent about 10 minutes trying to figure out how to use it because ordering ahead wasn't working, and none of the employees seemed familiar with the process. One employee was patient, friendly, and genuinely tried to help us figure it out, which I appreciated. After finally placing our order, we were told it would take about 15 minutes. Instead, we waited roughly 40 minutes, and didn't receive our food until 11:00 p.m., right at closing. I understand we came during the last hour before closing, which is why I specifically asked if we had enough time. If the kitchen was backed up or our order was going to take 40+ minutes that late in the evening, I would have completely understood. I just wish we had been told that up front instead of being quoted 15 minutes. By the time we received our food, it was closing time. Thankfully we ordered it to go, because if we'd planned to eat there, we wouldn't have had the opportunity. When our food was finally ready, the bag was already ripping because something inside had leaked. The employee noticed right away, grabbed two new bags, and repacked everything, which I appreciated. We ordered quite a bit to sample the menu: the Cali Chick (lettuce wrapped), Hot Chick, Buff Chick, Little Mule, Totchos, onion strings, sweet potato fries, and a Teriyaki Chicken Caesar Wrap (which we haven't tried yet, so I can't comment on that one). Unfortunately, the food we did eat was very disappointing. The lettuce-wrapped Cali Chick was a mess--the lettuce was so wilted it couldn't even function as a wrap. The onion strings, Totchos, and sweet potato fries had all lost their crispness by the time we got them, and everything was lukewarm or cold. The Little Mule ended up being our favorite burger, while the Hot Chick definitely delivered on the spice. Ironically, the sweet potato fries were my favorite side, even though they came in the smallest portion. Our total was over $100 before the InKind discount, and I honestly wouldn't pay full price for this meal. The quality just didn't match the price. I don't know if the kitchen was short-staffed or if something else was going on that night, but waiting 40 minutes after being quoted 15 minutes--especially with almost no one else ordering--only to receive cold, soggy food was incredibly disappointing. I do want to give credit to the employee who helped us. He was polite, apologized several times for the delay, and even repacked our order when he noticed the leaking bag. Unfortunately, the overall experience and food quality just didn't live up to the price. Based on this visit, I couldn't justify spending over $100 for the experience we received. I hope this was just an off night, but it was disappointing enough that I felt it deserved a 2-star review.
