Looking for a sushi place to eat during lent on a Friday is not the business. After striking out on my three go to places for sushi this evening, I decided to give this place a try. They had the shortest line out of all the places I went to. Mioki is a small restaurant in a little plaza. Very limited seating and the waiting area is small. There were families ahead of me therefore I put my name on the list and waited till I was seated. Once I got seated I ordered the salmon teriyaki dinner, a salmon skin roll, and hot tea. They did throw in a green bean tempura appetizer and a slice of pineapple for dessert which was on the house. Both were good. Moving onto the food. The salmon skin roll was great. Just the right amount of salmon skin and rice. The salmon dinner was good, flavorful and tasty, which came with two big pieces of fish and rice. It also came on a hot sizzling plate when served. The only downside that I would say is the salmon to rice ratio didn't make sense to me. The cup of rice was an extremely small portion for the salmon that was served. Anyhow, Will definitely go back to this place. The only two reasons why I am docking a star was cause of the rice ratio for the salmon dinner and also the waiting time. When I got there the sushi bar had two people there. After waiting for 25 minutes for only 1 person and to get sat at the sushi bar did not make sense to me.
After my most recent visit to Mioki, I have to downgrade my rating. While prices remain reasonable and fish cuts are thick, the fish was not fresh at all and I was pretty disappointed with the quality. I had the 9pc nigiri set where the fish smelled fishy and was watery/mushy. Not sure if the quality has gone down overall or if it was just a bad night to come for dinner....
4.5, but since we cannot give half stars, boosting to 5 stars because of the service and complimentary plates. First time at Mioki Sushi was on Saturday, May 31, 2025. We (Pal, Sisa, Auntie Selvy, DJ, Mom and me) were driving back to Fremont from Salinas and Sisa told us that she was looking online for Japanese restaurants because she was craving sushi. The final decision was to go to Mioki. Located in the Walgreens Plaza on Decoto Road, we easily found a parking space just steps from the front entrance. I was instructed to go inside, peruse the menu, and come back to the car to let everyone else know if I thought that Mioki was a good place to have dinner. Upon entry, I was immediately greeted by a friendly server who gave me a couple of to go menus to give to the family out in the car while I sat at a table and also checked out the menu. It took only about a couple of minutes to give the green light to come inside for dinner to everyone in the car. This was shortly after 8 PM. There were not many tables occupied, so we were seated without delay. We came in at a good time - the dining room quickly filled up shortly afterwards. The venue, made up of a single dining room with a tiny sushi bar at on corner, was fairly clean on the evening of our visit. The hallway to the restroom, though, serves as a storage area with stacked boxes of supplies against the wall. Initially, I was afraid to enter the bathroom because the floor outside of it and leading to the back door was pretty dirty with accumulated black dirt along the bottoms of both door frames. To my pleasant surprise, the lavatory was clean and looked remodeled. Both times that I went in there, the toilet seat was up. The second time, I used it after one of the sushi guys who was the culprit for leaving the toilet seat up. At least I could hear that he washed his hands. Below are what we had for dinner: All Green Beans Tempura ($9.95) - Upon seating, we were given two orders of these fresh, piping hot and crispy tempura green beans...on the house. They were delish. Beef Sukiyaki ($18.95) - This was Mom's order. She was very happy that she tried this dish here. She appreciated that the broth was super hot. She did think that the the salad was drowning in dressing, though. Pal, Sisa, and DJ ordered rolls for their dinners; Rainbow Roll ($15.95), Disco Roll ($15.95), Rock & Roll Roll ($8.95), and Double Rainbow (17.95), all of which came in large pieces. DJ especially enjoyed the Double Rainbow - he had never seen a Rainbow Roll with the raw fish on top and inside the roll before, so he had to get it. Auntie Selvy and I ordered the Deluxe Bento; Salmon for her and Beef for me ($24.95 each) - I asked to substitute the sashimi with a California Roll for my Bento and my request was happily granted. The lack of cucumber in it was a bit disappointing, though. Our waitress assured me that the beef was absent of fat. Thankfully, yes, it was lean. The Bentos are big meals, even large enough to share between two persons. We did need to ask for the gyoza sauce, though. Salmon Kama ($10.95) - Two complimentary plates of this Kitchen Appetizer were also served to us. We were blown away by the generous freebies. Heads up if you order this - there are LOTS of fish bones! Perhaps Mioki doesn't offer any desserts to order as we were not asked if we wanted to see a menu for sweets. As we finished our meals, we were served two plates of pineapple, free of charge. We had a very enjoyable dinner. Service was very friendly & generous and the food was good and big in portions. MIOKI SUSHI left a great first impression on everyone. We will definitely be back! If I lived nearby, I would mos def go during the weekdays to take advantage of the $1.99 LARGE HOT SAKE!!
Great bang for your bucks here! Came here solely for their deluxe sushi set ($45 per person). It came with the typical salad and miso soup, BUT the best part is UNI was also included! No bitter aftertaste so huge plus. Can't say everything here is the best quality... I can say they are generous here though. We received a couple of additional items which added to the experience. Solid 4 stars for me. I appreciate how their focus is more on the customers than making the place looks nice and fancy. Recommend small groups only!
My second time trying Mioki Sushi, I got the tempura vegetables alongside the tempura veggie udon soup which was subtle. The tempura itself was wonderfully crisp and the sauces complemented the dish beautifully. We also tried the beef sukiyaki prepared with a touch of spice to suit our taste and it was delicious. The ingredients felt incredibly fresh and the generous portions made it well worth the price. Tiffany, who greeted us at the front was exceptionally graceful and attentive adding to the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Overall, the space was clean and had a pleasant inviting ambiance.
Mioki Sushi is my all time favorite Sushi restaurant. Anytime my husband & I are visiting Fremont we try to make a stop here. Say it with me yall the DYNAMITE roll is exactly that! Between the Dynamite roll, the fried green beans & the complimentary Pineapple slice at the end of your meal, it's a beautiful trifecta that keeps us loyal to this place. The service has always been great even on nights when they are super busy. It's not huge inside but it doesn't feel overwhelmingly crowded. I hope nothing but the best for the business. Highly highly recommend!
Came here on a Saturday night. Restaurant was crowded, but only waited about 10-15 minutes. They have a good selection of sushi. Service is always good and attentive. The ambiance is casual yet lively. We were given an appetizer on the house while there. I ordered the following: Salmon Nigiri 1/5: Was very chewy yet I had to work to bite and swallow it. Probably the worst Sake Nigiri I have had in the past 10 years. Albacore Tuna Nigiri 1/5: Same texture. Chewy yet had to work to bite and swallow it. Not as bad as the salmon, but not good either. Mission Hill Roll 4/5: Bizarre, but the salmon on the roll was better than the nigiri I had ordered. This was good, and enjoyed this roll, but already ruined by the bad nigiris I had earlier. Overall, I judge how good their fish selection is on a simple Sake Nigiri. This left a bad taste in my mouth which ruined the rest. Giving 2 stars for the service, but the fish could have been much better. I visited this restaurant about a year ago, and it was much better in the past. Disappointed.
One of my friends favorites for neighborhood sushi. Stopped in for lunch today to check it out for a second time. Food is more like three stars, but the service and value add another star. I didn't feel like the fish on my roll was the freshest, but the portions are generous and the service is some of the best you'll find anywhere.
Great spot for decent sushi at what I consider great prices as well. Not too sure if it's just because Fremont is less expensive when comparing to SJ/PA/MV area. Price/Sizing 4.5/5 - Rolls are decently priced at around ~14-20 but the plus mainly comes from them being pretty huge rolls with decent quantity. A lot of places tend to either downsize the rolls or the amount you get, but that was not an issue here. Bentos as well are nicely sized for what I consider fair prices. Service 5/5 - On point, Waitress was mostly at the front where she can see most of the tables and was able to monitor if any tables needed anything. Did not have any issues getting any water refills/help as needed. Flavor wise 4.5/5 - Didn't have any complaints in terms of freshness or taste profiles. Maybe did not entirely enjoy a roll we picked out but that's more of a problem with me than them. Chicken Teriyaki bento was juicy throughout, which I think can be a problem at some places when they overcook it and it becomes dry, but tempura was probably the only issue I had, as it seemed kind of so-so/average. Otherwise, location is great, plenty of parking and not to far off from dessert options.

It's been awhile since I came here. It's also been remodeled since the last I come here so that shows how long ago it's been. Place looks roomier than last time. They have bench and chair tables. I liked the new decor. It got crowded after lunch. Service was good. Came here for lunch on a weekday for hubs bday with two of my girls. The food came out pretty quick. Everyone ordered a bento box. Food was all good but portions are a little less than other Japanese restaurants we have been to in the area for lunch. Good flavors on my salmon teriyaki. Salmon Shashi was pretty fresh. My hubs beef teriyaki was good but I prefer the beef a little charred for a crispier texture. Sauces on the salad was good. Chicken teriyaki was good, too, but like I said, a little more charred for me. The gyozas were good but has a lamb smell to it. Prices are decent but have been to places a little cheaper for more in the area. I would rate this place a good 3.5 stars. Would come here again if someone asked me to but will go to my favorite places than here. [30/100] read more

Really awesome sushi spot to send off a beloved co-worker! The interior was small and cozy, probably not great for parties over the size of 8, but for our party of 4 it was perfect. The service was fast, drinks, and appetizers came out super quick. The Sushi was awesome too! Super fatty, flavorful, and most importantly filling! Definitely coming back here, the next time I drive into the office. read more
New favorite sushi spot in Fremont!!! Went around 8pm and they were busy! Make sure to plan ahead :) We ordered 2 rolls- RD roll (if you want assorted fish on your sushi get this!) & Alaska roll (one of their new rolls, thick cut salmon on top with some lemon at the top for some zestiness)10/10 Appetizer- assorted tempura (breading was perfect not too thick, Can actually taste the veggies and shrimp) Bowl- Sake don (freshly cut salmon over seasoned rice!! So fresh!! The cut was thick as well) I was def impressed how thick/big the sushi rolls were, it was only me and my bf and we couldn't finish everything, definitely filling!! A majority of folks come here for the fresh salmon sashimi donburi. I like raw fish in specialty rolls, as big slices feel too slimy. Just my preference, don't hate. More for everyone else. Had Monday dinner with a friend to catch up. Super cold that night! I'd feel the winter chill each time the door opened and I was sitting at the furthest table inside near the kitchen. Mioki is a tried and trusted home style Japanese establishment that regulars frequent, judging from the filled tables and constant order pick ups. Complimentary tempura green beans don't hurt either. My normal order consists of salmon teriyaki with mixed tempura and a roll. I thought my combo dinner was kind of pricey at ~$17 but then I heard the teriyaki platter sizzling and realized just how large the portion is. Green bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions enhanced the color and taste. Combo includes standard miso soup, salad, and rice. I got the Mission Hill roll: crab, shrimp tempura, and avocado inside; fresh salmon, lemon, tempura crunch, and special sauce outside. My friend ordered a rainbow roll and shared the Mission Hill. Yup, white tuna still tastes like chicken! Sashimi is fresh and a decent size. The ladies serving us are kind and refilled tea often. I was almost worried I'd get too much caffeine. Glad to finally cross this off my bookmark list. read more

Mioki sushi was my break from all the fancy sushi spots in SF. It was a bit far of a drive from SF, so how does it stack up? I got the sake (salmon) don, which gave me a huge bowl of salmon sashimi for a little over $20. The sushi was fresh and super tasty. So if you love salmon, you definitely have to get this one. I also tried the Crazy Roll. The portion was decent sized and came filled with ingredients. It didn't wow me but it was filling. Also my meal came with miso soup and salad. Overall this is an awesome sushi restaurant in Fremont and I would totally come back again. Though not the mind-blowing sushi experience that you'd get in top tier restaurants, it's a definite good bang-for-the-buck kind of restaurant that I'd like to see more of in the Bay Area. read more

Usually pretty decent sushi and my go-to local spot. I'd say they're normally a 3.5/4-star joint but there was a bit of a hiccup on my most recent visit. I came for a solo dinner on international sushi day and ordered a mixed sake/hamachi don with nigiri orders of o-toro, uni and ikura. I knew something was up when 30 minutes passed and I still didn't get my soup or salad. My waitress came up and asked if I'd gotten my soup/salad and told her no so she brought them out right away. 15 minutes later I get my nigiris. By the time I got done with all that food, I was pretty much full and was feeling ambivalent about the mixed don. Finally my waitress came out and asked how my food was and I told her it was great besides that I didn't get all that I ordered so to just cancel the rest. She was pretty apologetic and very sweet about it. On to the food! Ikura- 5/5. No strong after taste. Just your usual decadent roe. Uni- 5/5. Wow. These were spot on. Rich, creamy, melt in your mouth goodness. O-toro- 2.5/5. The fattiness was decent. What bothered me most was the cut of the fist. It was very stringy. Something I'm not used to when ordering top-shelf cuts of fish. Anyways, I'd say they they're usually better than this. Maybe cause restaurants had just fully started fully opening since the pandemic and it was slightly busy (maybe 70% capacity). For the most part tho, I'd still come back. read more

WOW! Absolutely loved this place. There is a wait, and they don't take reservations for parties less than 6 but I think the wait is definitely worth it! I think the restaurant is nice and cozy, very small but neat and tidy. Pros: -More fish than rice portion!!! Makes the price worth it! -The sushi roll choices are delicious, different, and unique! All 4 rolls that I ordered were very flavorful -HAPPY HOUR for 1$ sake! -Complimentary pineapple dessert! -Super friendly staff Cons: -Busy! Prepare to wait! We waited for about 20-30 mins, I don't mind but some people get impatient and just leave. -Because they are busy - service can be slow and a bit inattentive. We asked for our sake 3 times until it finally got to us. We asked for water refills and it came in a little while after we asked. We didn't mind because we understood how packed the place was! Overall: Food is great! Will definitely come back when I want a sushi fix. Worth the wait no matter the time it takes. read more
Ever since I found Mioki it has been my go to sushi spot in the area. I usually need two rolls at other sushi spots to get full but here I can eat one and be content because the pieces are bigger. A PLUS! The fish here is fresh and there are many options. The london roll tastes fresh with a nice zest of lemon citrus. The crazy roll and godzilla #2 are always in my and my bf's rotation so I would recommend. I've also tried their dragon and red dragon roll which I also really like. Honestly I haven't had a miss here yet. Ordering- There is online ordering and sometimes they have 10% off on weekdays if you order online. You can also call in. They are often busy so a 30-45 min wait is normal, I would recommend calling ahead. Tip- ask for a stamp card because after 10 rolls you'll get an 11th for free ($12 & under). I've gone through several already because I just can't get enough of their sushi! read more

Ordered the half and half don for takeout. I chose Salmon and hamachi with white rice and a side of salad. Delicious! Thick slices of fish which I appreciate for the hefty price. This was around $34 with tax. I went around 5:30 PM on a Monday and it was almost full. read more

My new favorite local sushi spot! I haven't been to the restaurant yet but I have been ordering takeout through Uber eats. This place offers great prices and food. The portions are pretty generous. The sushi is solid here. Fish tastes fresh and rolls are delicious. I enjoy the red dragon, the lollipop roll,Tokyo roll, Godzilla and a few others that I can't recall. I've liked all the rolls I've ordered. The bento boxes are okay, they're good but nothing special but other than that. I'm a happy girl! read more

It's located in the McDonalds and Walgreens plaza right next to the taco shop. Came in for lunch on a Monday afternoon and was seated right away. The restaurant isn't too big so I can imagine it gets filled pretty quick! There was only one server however I never had to flag her down and she always made sure my water was full. The food came out in a timely manner and the portions were just right for lunch! Overall it was a good experience and food was yummy! Will come back! read more
Found this gem on Uber eats when I was craving sushi. Really loved the sushi rolls we ordered but don't quite remember the names. They did have fresh salmon on top and eel inside which was refreshing and the other I believe was shrimp tempera crunch roll. These rolls are great for two people and plenty of food. We ended up eating the rest the next day and sushi the next day never tasted better. I would probably skip on the mixed tempera as there was nothing special about it. I do however recommend the green mussels if that's your thing. You get 4 per order but they are meaty and filling by themselves. I will be back once my sushi craving comes back and honestly writing this review is starting it already. read more

FOOD was good. Had the Raymond roll because I don't like raw. Alaskan roll was good if you're ok with raw salmon. Chicken karage was good too! INSIDE small place. Counter seating available. Tv was on playing football. Cool avocado seed growing by the front door. GENERAL parking lot is small. Food was good. I would eat here again if i was in the area. read more

This place get packed quick on a Friday night. It's located in a plaza therefore there's a lot of parking. The place is extremely busy even though we came at 5PM, we were lucky enough to get a table however since it's so busy it took awhile to get the servers attention. My boyfriend got the sake don while I got the J Roll. We also shared the soft shell crab. The soft shell crab was really good- the crab was very crispy but also the crab was big enough where there's a good portion of crab meat inside. The portions of the raw fish were huge, we were so full and that's rare for us at sushi restaurants. We usually have to order multiple rolls to be full. As you can see from the photos, the sake don came with a lot pieces of sashimi. The J roll was huge and the fish was really fresh. The waitress gave us complimentary fried green beans since the it was so busy. Overall I'll definitely return but maybe at a less busy time read more

A definite hole in the wall type place! Located in a some what sketch plaza. The sign was not lit when we came for dinner so it was a tad difficult to find. Parking is decent, but hide all valuables on the trunk for safety! Service was great! They only serve sake and beer so I passed on alcoholic drinks for the night. They have a great selection of your basic hand rolls, rolls, sashimi and entrees. I loved my Paris and Pookie roll! The fried green bean was great and the miso soup average. They did fort our miso soup so it was on the house! No wifi, bathrooms are relatively clean and same goes for the eating area. Overall, I will definitely be back to try other entrees!!! read more

This was just okay. The baked sushi rolls were not spectacular. There are better options in my opinion. Also low key disappointed in the non-sushi dish we tried, the niku donburi lacked flavor and content. I wasn't expecting it'd be filled with eggs like an oyako-don. I'd say I'm willing to give this place another try but maybe post Covid for in person dining. read more

I've been coming here on and off for almost 2 decades, and 3 ownerships. I haven't been in with the new ownership which probably took place within the last 18 months. With my sushi consumption dwindling to new lows since this shelter, mostly due to my reluctance to participate in the take-out format for sushi. I am one of those that doesn't like my sushi to sit. Even when I used to eat in, I would usually only order enough to eat within a minute or two. Then repeat the process. With sit downs not being an option as of late, I was forced to order take out sushi. So I still don't know who really runs this place now, because all the transactions have been brisk and mostly over the phone. But it does seem very family oriented, just like the other previous incarnations. And lots of take-out orders so it looks like the customer base is still in tact and the quality of food and service hasn't taken a dive. So good for them. Tako Sunomono ($6/2*) Good knife skills here. Thinly shaved english cucumbers and tiny diced octopus. I liked the cut on the cucs but felt cheated on the super tiny dots of octopus. They should just slice it thin for better mouthfeel and chew. And the dressing was too tart and too much of it. It was so tart, that a simple bite made you squince you nose and eyes. Needs to find a better balance. Kappa Maki ($4/4*) Tightly rolled and compact. Thin julienne of cucumbers again show off their legit knife skills. No complaints here. Saba Maki ($4/4*) I love cured mackerel from sushi bars. And I never see it in roll form, so this was a nice surprise. Their mackerel is decent with a noticeable cure. And to have it rolled along Nori was a nice treat. Sushi Combo ($26/3*) This seemed a tad pricey to me, but it is a decent amount of food. With all the rice, it adds up and fills you up. This box had 1 Cali Roll (meh 3*), 3 slices of thick and fatty salmon sashimi (4*), and 5 common fish nigiris (3.5*). The nigiris were generous sized cuts, easily 2 biters. Nothing knocked me out as the offerings were super basic, but nothing disappointed as well. So a return is quite probable. Can't wait to be able to sit the bar top again and set up my own Omakase ride. That'll determine whether how much of regular I'll really be. read more

So it's been a while since I've last been here. I came here to do take out during the shelter in place and was amazed that they are following social distancing and safety rules. I noticed that they have separated dirty pens and clean pens For when you are signing your credit card receipt. I ordered Sashimi and they taste so fresh. What's cool is that they threw in salmon Kama For free which I feel is their way of appreciating customers. My favorite is the Hamachi and salmon sashimi. read more

If you like real sushi its actually cheap. Lots of places fill the rolls with rice and has no actual fish flavor or fish. On average the ones I like with salmon and tobiko as well as eel are about $16 each. What really matters here is the freshness…
