Certain dressings are low to no sugar, lemon herb vinaigrette (1g) is my go-to, and you can get gluten-free non-gmo for a few extra cents. You're going to pay more here than a regular cafe for a salad of the same size, but the build your own greens or quinoa bowl options come with choice of 5 items and runs about $9.95, with tax and the SF mandate, it's $11.20, that is if you don't add specialty ingredients--however, they do have a large selection of toppings you can add within the cost. My favs are Brussels sprouts, glazed carrots, golden beets, quinoa. The quinoa bowls as well as salad boxes are hearty, and they can easily last you easily 2 meals. Comes with a small slice of grain bread, yum. Of course, there are an array of meat-eating choices too, even sandwiches, so there's something for everyone. Get here early, they open as early as 10:30, so you're not in a Disneyland Thunder Mountain-sized line, especially if it's a business meeting, and you're growing ever so impatient at having to watch and listen to people hem and haw over their toppings of choice. They have grab-n-go options in the fridge case as well, but you'd still have to wait in line. This place is across from my office and after being left unsatisfied many times I stopped going. I received a gift card there which is how I found myself back. I made basically a Caesar salad with Tofu and dressing on the side. When I got back to my desk, I could clearly see the lettuce had brown spots and was wilted and mainly clear in color. I took it back and told them the lettuce was old. They offered to quickly remake another with different lettuce. I got back and I have 2 slices of avocado and 6 sm cubes of tofu (which is $3 extra) and a heaping pile of lettuce. Salad not mixed at all. For $15, you expect quality and consistency. To charge these prices, I expect them to live up to their name of "Mixt" or they should change their name to "Un-MIXT Browns with Small Portions of Things on Top". read more

The line was pretty long but it moves really fast as they have a bunch of folks making salads and meals behind the counter during rush hour. My salad is always consistent so I have no complaints about it and I'm always happy with it. The staff here isn't the friendliest but they also aren't rude or anything bad. They're just efficient at what they do which helps make the line move quickly so you're not waiting forever. If you still hate lines, you can always order ahead for pickup via their website. Ok, I'm done with Mixt. Training is a big issue and the experience is always frustrating. It had been long enough that my previous frustrating visits were a foggy memory. I ordered the Ritual and my salad maker was clearly confused while making it. As he was packing it up I asked if there was tofu (included in the Ritual) because I was pretty sure there wasn't any in it. At first he said yes, then examined it and ultimately threw a few pathetic pieces on top. Once I took my salad to go and opened it up I realized he also completely missed the avocado and mango (and it's not like they were out because I saw them in the prep area). With the two best ingredients missing, I was left with a boring $13+ salad I never would have ordered. I don't want to go somewhere I have to eagle eye everything (like putting chicken in my vegetarian salad). If this were an isolated incident it'd be one thing, but visit after visit has left me to conclude that Mixt just means mixed-up. read more

It had a different taste, not your normal salad. It had Mangos, which turned me onto this salad. If you are allergic to peanuts, I suggest you stay away from this! So grab your coworkers and have a little Mixt Greens date, laugh at the people waiting in line as you pick up your food. They have a long line for a reason: very fresh ingredients for salads. If you're okay with waiting in line, the lines move up fairly quickly. Expect to pay about $8-12 bucks for your salad, depending on if there's meat in it. Their Maui is delicious if you love seared ahi tuna, but if you want to eat that every day or quite often, you better give up your daily grande frappuccino, because the costs do add up! Recently, I've been building my own salads, you pay $7.95 for the basics, get about 4 toppings without meat. I usually go for the buttered lettuce (I haven't seen this type of lettuce at the other salad bars around), goat cheese, eggs, avocado, and add on the cilantro jalapeno vinaigrette. The portion is decent for lunch as long as you choose the toppings that will last. I prefer their dressing selections than Foccacia, about 10 choices compared to 5. However, if you want a large salad, I feel like Specialty's and Foccacia pack in more food in the box than MG. That part depends on your preferences in salads. read more

Super fresh ingredients, lots of choices, good serving size. Deceptive marketing practices! My friend and I came today, May 6, 2016, to take advantage of the buy 1 get 1 free salad. After paying for my salad, I realized they overcharged me. I tried speaking to the cashier and the manager. Unfortunately, both were apologetic but unhelpful in resolving the issue of being OVERCHARGED. In the fine print for the ad (see picture), it says the value is capped at $15. I got the beetnik $9.95 salad plus extra meat $5 which makes it $14.95. They only gave me credit for the $9.95. Very annoyed and frustrated because Mixt Greens is clearly at fault with their written and spoken communication! Your language is not specific enough. Love the HUGE salads you get here. And $8 for a custom salad is not bad at all. You get a huge selection of things to choose from, including many great vegan protein sources (marinated tofu, nuts, and beans.) If you just want one of the pre-made salads, I suggest the Siam (again, add the tofu!) One tip: order your food ahead, if you can. The line here is always long. Even though the employees work very fast, you'll spend at least 10 minutes from the time you walk in the door 'til you leave with your amazing salad. As this Mixt location is only a block away, many colleagues and myself have been a patron for awhile. It's been great to see how successful they've become, however it has been unfortunately at the expense of one particular service component which is rudimentary and fundamental. This has happened to us numerous times, including myself for the 3rd time today in the last few months. Over the last 6-8 months, we have noticed that key ingredient(s) (ie- avocado, chicken, apple, cheese, etc) are missing from our order. I'm talking about ingredients that Mixt has designated as part of their pre-determined salad options, not a design-your-own or tailored/modified salad. The ingredients are always fresh and the process is efficient, maybe too efficient now. Seems their employees are under pressure to produce the fastest output possible, which might be the driving factor to the issue highlighted....missing items. The salads are large, the options are varied, and the service isn't terrible, but the price you pay (often $15 or more for a salad with meat) often leaves me feeling a little sad. There's also sometimes inconsistency between servers: there have been a few times where the salad I got contains a really low amount of some ingredient, or it hasn't been mixed properly. I think this is probably a consequence of the fact that they're rushing to serve a lot of customers quickly (it gets crowded!). After weeks of jealously seeing my coworkers prance into the office with their Mixt lunches, I decided to take the plunge and try out this office cult favorite. Walking in I was a bit overwhelmed, I would of never imagined the sheer amount of options you could have for a place that just makes salads. They seem to have almost every ingredient possible and you can choose from their classics or jump into the deep-end and build your own. After much consideration and thought, I went with a coworker favorite -- The Cowboy. Taking a bite was like being whisked away to the dawn of the wild west... In all honesty, this place delivers on taking something as boring as a salad and creating it into a real meal.
