We ordered some takeouts from here and were disappointed with what we got. We got Linguini Al Pesto and Spaghetti Bolognese, both of them were very bland. Portion was generous, you can eat it in 2-3 helping. So with $15 each dish, you're paying for quantity and not really quality. The Chocolate Cannoli was equally bad and flavorless. The only good thing about our takeout was actually the complimentary garlic breads. I could live off that garlic bread. It's so tasty with fresh garlic and herbs. Very fragrant and delicious. Based on our experience, I would only recommend the Garlic Bread and nothing else. read more

Stumble by this place last night in lake city and have to say the place is welcoming. As I walked in, our group was greeted by a few people. Place was busy and wasn't long before we sat down. Everything was clean and service was wonderful. We had a family style dinner for a group of 4 and managed to leave with extra food Togo. We started off with cheesy garlic bread and spicy gambas. Then for dinner we had the 20" spicy sausage pizza with mozzarella crust, spaghetti's with meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo with bacon and the Italian Sausage Pomodorin. What a delish find!! Earlier in the day, we had been in our favorite nail salon, Peony, parked in front of Modena. Later we needed dinner, thot....Pizza. So we ended up choosing delivery from Modena. Pizza and green salad. Traditional crust with lots of garlic-yummies Marinara, Italian sausage and cheese. Loved the crust thick flavorful, sausage was very good and cheese. First time in forever it was all mozzarella, as it should be! We both really enjoyed and under $15. Must try items are spicy penne pasta (sooo good), house salad (always super fresh veggies) and crispy pepperoni pizza (try it with stuffed crust and a side of marinara. I ordered using yelp's Eat24 app- an app i really love. When the delivery guy came, I asked if there was a receipt for me to sign, like I have signed many times before. This is also where you can add tip. He said no. I apologized that I didn't have cash, so I bid him adieu. 2 minutes later, I'm notified that $4 was charged to my card without my consent. So basically, the delivery man decided to add tip on his own, and deduct an amount of his choosing from my card, without my consent. Luckily Eat24's customer service is so good that they took care of this.But it was still a very tacky and unfavorable first encounter with this restaurant. read more

We love Modena and will probably be back but the order we just picked up had many issues. Ordered the antipesto pizza specifically for the pesto base, we got a tomato base?????? No pesto to be seen at all. Also paid extra for garlic crust which is definitely absent from the pizza. Also ordered the Mediterranean salad, which would be amazing if it included greens (to be fair greens are not listed on the menu, but who honestly just wants to eat raw onions/peppers/tomatoes?) and the peppers taste slightly.... off (maybe moldy?) so all in all pretty disappointed with the whole meal. Ordered here from Slice. Ordered half sausage anchovy and half pepperoni, as I always do when trying a new place if they allow half orders as a baseline to see how I like the pizza. First time I was given artichokes instead of anchovy, pretty disappointing but oh well, the restaurant apologized, offered 25%off a future order and Slice offered $7 credit. So far just fine, nobody's perfect. Next day I figure I'll give them a shot at redemption while using up the discount and credit since it's a cheat weekend on keto for me so I didnt want to wait forever to use those up and wanted to give Modena a chance to make good on their error. This time the pizza was NOT EVEN CLOSE to what I ordered. As you can see in the photo, this time "half sausage anchovy half pepperoni" (input using the guide on the app that clearly shows which half to put toppings on and everything) translated to a full pizza of "sausage, pepperoni, mushy Canadian bacon and white sauce". This time they offered me a 10% discount on a future order...??? Like why the hell would I come back again after twice failing in a row and offering less of a fix than the first time? I accidentally gave them the wrong address. (I know i know). This review is only so I can remember how the pizza was for myself next time, but take away what you will~ Veggie pizza with garlic crust - Delivered pretty much cold.. and we don't own a microwave, so we had to suffer. Garlic crust way pretty tasty! Pizza average overall. First time ordering here, new to the area, definitely looking around a lot more before coming back. It was kind of cheap though, so there's the benefit! I might try it again when I have a microwave or if the oven is set to 350 ahead of time. Or if all the other pizza in the area is even more of a let down. Ordered a Hawaiian through Grub Hub with "lots of pineapple" the pizza arrived with hardly any pineapple. In fact, several pieces only had only one piece of pineapple. I called immediately and was told my next pizza would be free of charge. Two weeks later I try and make good on the offer and now they claim they were only giving me the topping for free. Don't be fooled by the location of the restaurant and it's size. Walking in, we could already tell from the smell alone that this was going to be a fantastic dining experience. The owner of the restaurant was at the front desk and was very welcoming and helpful to us first timers. He walked us through the menu, and even had a laugh with us about how much food we ordered lol. They don't have servers at the restaurant but their kitchen staff doesn't make it seek that way - They cook, serve, and entertain. This family style restaurant will woo you over with their fresh ingredients and their tasty dishes. The first thing that arrived at our table was the salad. Very bright green veggies, paired with their light blue cheese dressing (they have other dressings of course). The taste set my appetite just right. We were so glad to find that our pizza would come shortly after as well as our pastas. They even gave us complimentary tiramisu which was just to die for. Modena isn't far from where I live and it was a happy surprise when I saw that it had opened. First time visit I stopped in tonight and ordered a meatball sandwich to go. It was excellent. Good meatball sandwiches are hard to find in northeast Seattle and I'd compare their version with the best in town. You have to specify if you want it with a top layer or bread or open faced which is nice for some people. Toppings were a little sparse and not very evenly distributed. Rather kind of just tossed on to the pizza. Quality of the ingredients was average. Salad was fresh and good size. I was looking for a place to get some pizza on a Friday night and decided to give this place a shot as I was driving by. I'll get right to the point...this is the best pizza I've had in Washington and perhaps the entire West Coast. From the way it was prepared, to the way it was presented, it was made to absolute perfection; not too saucy or overdone in the slightest. It was downright amazing. For dessert I tried their tiramisu and it was equally awesome. Also, a large portion for the price. Not only was the food excellent, but so was the service. Yelp really needs a zero star option. I ordered a special through the Modena website. It said to type in any extra toppings/instructions. I did. They got it wrong. I called immediately to let them know and was yelled at that my request was complicated ( I merely asked for pepperoni and extra cheese on two of the three pizzas) and they refused to fix the error. I let them know I'd call my credit card to dispute the charges and she complained that I was getting a great deal and should be happy. She hung up on me. Then, she called back and said she was coming back to pick up the pizzas, rather than fix the one (out of 3) pizzas that was incorrect. I can't wait for her to get here. I'll update with what happens. It's a shame. It's good pizza, but it seems that this is new ownership who would prefer to alienate the customer base instead of fixing a minor error. I would recommend staying away. There's lot of good pizza in the area, you might want to try someone else.
