Firing on all cylinders this cozy corner Italian restaurant has some of the best authentic pizzas I've ever had. We were fortunate enough to get a reservation for two on Saturday night and we're promptly seated. They kindly found a bottle of Prosecco, which was not on the menu and honored our request for a glass. The menu has a really enticing list of vegetable appetizers salt with pastas and some meat courses as well but the pizza I believe is the star we had braves leaks which were cooked to perfection along with a lemon pasta. Where are you could taste all the subtle flavors in that. Lastly, we had a pie w pomodoro , anchovies garlic and burrata added as it comes out of the oven , super bright flavorful . We had Friday evening reservations for 4 people, and overall our experience was very poor. We were seated at the outdoor "heated" patio (what our reservation was for). The space itself was very tight and did not feel like it was heated at all. The lemon tree decor was pretty. Our waiter appeared to be very attentive at the start, but we quickly realized he was there to upsell us on everything. We were given tap water (more on this later) and chose a bottle of wine to share. The wine list itself was not well curated, as it did not have enough wines at each price point. I would guess about 75% of the wines were over $200. When the waiter came to take our wine order, he said the bottle we chose was not available, but that he had another bottle of the same type that would cost $5 more (and was not on the actual wine list). Out of principal, we kindly asked if he could sub that bottle for the same price and he declined. We ordered the bottle anyway. In terms of the food and wine experience, the wine was served a bit too cold, and the waiter did not open the bottle in front of us (typically a huge red flag for wine service). We ordered two pasta dishes and two pizzas (the clamshell and the margherita). One of the pastas came out within 10 minutes of ordering, and the two pizzas came out a full 10 minutes after that. The 2nd pasta dish never came out at all, and the waiter didn't acknowledge it until we asked him where it was. I can't speak for the first pasta dish or clamshell pizza, but the margherita pizza left a lot to be desired. The wood fired aspect was too overdone and took away from the actual taste of the pizza almost to the point where it felt like we were eating ashes. The manager did eventually come to the table and offer his apologies about the 2nd pasta dish and gave us the option to have it brought out (and take it off the bill). However, at that point, we didn't want to wait and declined. The waiter brought out our check and the 2nd pasta dish that never came was left off of it. However, the restaurant charged us a $2 per person fee for "filtered" tap water. This was mentioned with an asterisk on the bottom of the menu, but we had assumed that would have been a buy up option. The waiter should have been more forthcoming about that. Overall, we had a very poor dining experience and would certainly not recommend this place. read more

Popped in here for a 2 person reservation at the bar. It's located at the edge of Little Italy, and they have a small but busy spot. Wood fire pizza ovens open to see as the people work on the pizzas in front of you. We had the appetizer of a littleneck clam pizza - the crust is super-thin at the center and bubbles up at the edges (thicker). It's interesting, garlicky, but I don't like burnt (blackened) crust at all, so not to my favor. The tortelloni (corbezzolo honey,almond and castelmagno cheese) was fantastic - 7 pieces, though, so not a lot. The strozzapreti w/ octopus sugo was ok (pasta good, a little spicy), but the octopus was a little on the mushy side, fell apart a little too easily and lacked the slightly chewy texture that I prefer from my octopus. They have half bottles and full, and they were efficient with replacing plates and serving - not quite rushed but not quite relaxing, either. I am in love with the braised leeks! Texture is soft with a little crunch from the walnuts. The flavor is subtle and quite frankly sublime. We had two pizzas, one margarita which was um um good! Then the clam pizza which was expensive and you had to look hard to find clams. That was a drag. Why can't these restaurants figure out that being a little generous goes a long way. Clams at 25-50 cents a clam retail and of course you are buying at cost, maybe just maybe you could put a generous amount of clams on the pie? Darn, it wouldn't break the bank. At $30 for a smallish pie is not an unreasonable request. It's a lovely atmosphere to be sure and other than the servers are jumping at the bit to take your plate away, they am to please. Pasquale Jones has been on my list for some time, and I finally came here for dinner last week with a friend. We made a reservation on Resy a couple of days before, and the reservation was easy to get. They have a big outdoor dining section which is fully covered, with overhead heating. The staff are all in masks, and you scan a QR code to get the menu. The two of us weren't very hungry, so we got one appetizer, and one pizza to share. This amount of food was good for the both of us. The food was presented not long after we ordered. The warm braised leeks were served in butter and parmesan, and were warm, simple and comforting. We ordered the clam pizza as it is their signature pizza. It's a clam pizza without sauce, broccoli rabe and cream, garlic and lemon. It was delicious, and cooked well. Dough was great. We came for dinner on a Wednesday, and I was surprised by how packed the restaurant was. The restaurant showcases its two large stone pizza ovens. The tables were packed together (even during COVID)- I could not even be seated without intruding on the table adjacent to us. It was also difficult to hold a conversation while dining without being drowned out by the loud music and other noises. The restaurant is nicely decorated, but you should be prepared for packed seating and loud music. We ordered the Margherita pizza and the Casoncelli (with wood-roasted corn, oyster mushrooms, and ricotta). Both entrees were great: the quality of pasta was amazing and the dough used for their pizzas was chewy and nicely baked. However, I felt that the portion size of the pasta dishes was too small. Although it was meant to be a main dish, I felt the portion was more like an appetizer. Overall, I wasn't too impressed by Pasquale Jones. I thought the service was good and the food was good, but for the prices they have, I don't think I would come again. Good food, great wine. I came here on a Sunday and we able to get a table for indoor dining without a reservation. The manager/hostess was super nice and very attentive. Great service all around by the staff. They had a wine special for bubbles so we took advantage of it. For food, we got the 36-Month Prosciutto & Melon and Market Zucchini pizza as appetizers. KenScale: 8.5/10 Throughout my culinary experience in New York City, there are a few restaurants where I had a great experience but somehow I ended up not going in a while. Perhaps that is because of so many choices in the diverse dining scene in the city. Perhaps I'm becoming more forgetful as I age. In any event, it was only recently that I realized, when searching for a restaurant to have dinner with a foodie friend visiting from out of town (along with our mutual friend as well as my lovely wife Jun), that for some inexplicable reasons, I had only been to Pasquale Jones once back in 2016. As my friend, an avid food blogger who writes with a lot more flourish than mine, was on a semi-business trip to check out Italian restaurants around the city for a new restaurant project that she was consulting for, I thought Pasquale Jones would be a perfect place to show her the type of casual yet really good restaurant. And I'm glad that the restaurant is still hitting on all cylinders. Since the foodie friend had a very generous expense account budget, she ordered perhaps a bit too much food for a party of four, but we didn't complain (I had a very light lunch that day at work knowing that we'll probably get a bunch of dishes). The two giant wood-fire ovens and the pizzas that come out of them are still the highlights of the restaurant's menu, but don't sleep on their appetizers, such as the refreshing fluke crudo or the Montauk scallops with corn, butter bean and sweet pepper that I regretted were a bit too small (because they were quite delicious and I was in no mood for sharing one). The vegetables were also fantastic, such as the charred Romano beans with spring onion and pancetta that showed robust texture and the warm braised leeks with toasted walnut and Parmigiano. The two pasta dishes were also solid, especially the sweetcorn agnolotti with chanterelle mushroom and Parmigiano that Jun remarked could a fantasy for every pasta-loving girl for its sweet flavor and wonderfully al dente texture. It was really in the pizza department, however, that Pasquale Jones still shines, and I'm very close to declaring this might be one of the top five pizza destinations in Manhattan. The signature littleneck clam pie with garlic, lemon and broccoli rabe was fantastic as always, but the best one of the night probably belonged to the squash blossom pie with zucchini, basil and "little fish" that the server described as a type of anchovy. I was very impressed with the generous vegetable toppings that worked together beautifully for a semi-healthy flavor. The other two pizzas (as mentioned above, we ordered a lot!) were also very good; I loved the spicy kick coming from the hot pepper in diavola pie, and the burrata cheese in the other pie displayed a ton of freshness that Jun very much liked. As if the four pies weren't enough, the foodie friend wanted to order one secondi dish, and I remembered that the restaurant's pork shank (available as an off-menu item during our visit) was supposed to be one of its best dishes. It was indeed a wise decision to order this beautiful meat dish, with impeccable texture without overpowering flavor. If all four of us hadn't been stuffed from the massive carb intakes previously, I have no doubt we would've finished this in five minutes. Just like last time, there is only dessert available at Pasquale Jones on a given day, and I suggest never skipping one at the restaurant as the dessert usually involves roasted fruit. On our visit, roasted apricot accompanied by raspberry and vanilla gelato was available and everyone really enjoyed this delightful dish that wasn't overly sweet. Pasquale Jones is still a very popular restaurant where securing a table at prime time can be a challenge so plan ahead accordingly. On a weekday dinner, the restaurant certainly seems to have more younger crowds than the last time I had visited on a Sunday when I saw a couple of families with kids hanging out together. The wine list comes from various places around the world; ordering a glass or bottle of red Italian should be the way to go if you are inclined to have some alcohol to complement the food. I'm still not sure to this day how I never managed to revisit Pasquale Jones after a memorable first meal, but I have no doubt I will use this restaurant again for future occasions. read more

Adorable location in Nolita in Little Italy. Great corner for patio dining and people watching. The Unctuous handmade pastas are perfectly sauced. We had the bucatini carbonara with generous chunks of guanciale and the spaghetti Cacio e Pepe. Do not miss the perfect wood fired oven- charred thin pizza as only New York can make. The combination of crisp and chew with salumi and provolone is unbelievable. The wine pairing was genius as the wine steward suggested a light flavorful Beaujolais. The nose was amazing and did I say it was a Beaujolais? It held up to the Pizza Diavolo and had enough acidity for my Cacio e Pepe spaghetti. We started with braised leeks that had a enough tang to cut the richness of the braising sauce and a crunch from the toasted walnuts. The rich burrata was paired with the fragrant and tart Frog Hollow peaches from California. It was excellent with the toasted baguette slices generously buttered. The dessert was a light Fior di Latte gelato with shortbread and apricots. It was light and not too sweet. A perfect finish. The meal made me want to linger and just savor the experience. read more
