Peking is consistently good. We get fast delivery all the time. Some of our staples are MuShu Pork, cashew chicken, shanghi dumplings, sweet n sour chicken. We recently tried the chive pancake and it was delicious! This place is a way better version of americanized chinese food. It feels like it was made for the American Born Chinese person. You know like Tomato Beef and such. The only complaint I have is sometimes the green bell peppers that come in the dishes (like sweet n sour chicken/pork) taste like they are old and have been soaking in liquid for days. I love their selection on their lunch menu which includes a cup of hot & sour soup. I don't normally eat hot and sour soup but this place changed my mind. The pot stickers are pretty much some the best I've eaten. The garlic chicken was pretty good. The vegetables were also very fresh and crisp which complemented the meal nicely. On another trip to Peking my friend ordered the sweet & sour pork (I know it's a tourist food) so I decided to try it. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well made this dish was. They cook the pork and then add the sauce on top after the meat is done, unlike most places that let the sauce soak through the meat and make the entire dish soggy. Overall I would not hesitate to go back there for lunch or dinner just as long as you start off with the hot & sour soup followed by their pot stickers. read more

For Non-Bay Area people, this restaurant might not be bad, in fact, it might even come off as being delicious and authentic! The waitresses and waiters were quite nice, but the restaurant was poorly lit and the menus were pretty old and grimy. This is what we had: Shanghai Tofu Thizad Soup - The soup was probably my favorite part of the meal. The broth itself was quite tasty, but the presentation itself was horrible. Taste definitely outweighed appearance in this case. It was definitely not something you would order if you saw it; it looked like it was a bunch of leftover dishes thrown into a soup and served on the spot. Potstickers - Reading positive reviews on Yelp, I was a bit excited to try it, but my hopes were crushed as I had my first bite. Burnt. The insides weren't that bad, but the rest were soggy, not crispy at all! Bad move. Shanghai Dumplings (XLB) - in XLB, you're usually looking for a paper thin dumpling with luscious juicy meat inside. Here, the peel was CHEWY. Like gum. Not thin at all! And there was no "soup" in the dumpling either. Disappointed. Prawns with Green Soy Beans - Initially, these were quite good, but as time went on, the oiliness got to me. There was this awful shininess to them. It looked like someone had literally took this dish tossed it in oil. Shanghai Style Meatballs - These weren't that bad. The meat was quite tender, but mouth was wanting something more. It left me thinking about what it was missing rather than me enjoying it. Bean Curd Sheet with Greens - Tofu didn't seem edible. It was rock hard! No comment. Shredded Pork with Yellow Chives and Tofu - Took one bite and set it down. Too oily and fake. Enough said. Come here only if there is a world apocalypse and you happen to be craving Chinese food. And this just happens to be the LAST STANDING Chinese restaurant in SF. read more

My family has been coming to this restaurant since the early 90's. We've moved further and further away from the place over the years, but we travel just to enjoy our all-time favorites - the best ever szechuan prawns, super tasty wonton soup and the to-die-for combo fried rice. We came here to eat a light dumpling lunch...because of one of the newspaper reviews stating that this place cooks to order (meaning that the dumplings are hand made to order and not sitting in the freezer the night before. I really love the shanghai dumplings, the pot stickers were also quite good as well as the vegetable mini dumplings selection. The one thing we added to the set was beef, choy and sliced finger dough pieces dish which was a bit too savory for my company. It needed to lessen the soy a bit. There weren't many people in the restaurant and yet it was a bit difficult to get our check...this doesn't make sense if the staff were busy but they weren't. The bathroom is really small with the low flow toilets (please don't get me off on this other pet peeve of mine, I do know that these toilets help reduce water waste, but it has to be flushed twice for it to be useful negating the savings) Otherwise, it was an okay experience. read more

I actually really like it here. Been coming here since a child when they had Tien Fu next door. Now that was a great 1-2 punch of restaurants. But maybe their cuisines were too similar for them to survive next to each other and Tien Fu had another location so they moved on and concentrated on their other restaurant. In any case, this is a no-frills restaurant. It always seems dark and morbid in there. Service is simple and professional and the food is pretty good. It's never as packed as San Tung on Irving and is a decent alternative to that restaurant if you are craving some garlic chicken wings and other dishes that have a bit of spice. If i go to a chinese restaurant I haven't been to before I usually try the mongolian beef. It seems like every place makes it different, but it's one of my favorite dishes to order. At Peking theirs has more of a garlic flavor to it than extra spice, but still good nonetheless. The seafood chow mein was also good. I had a craving for some good ol' chinese food...and was so overwhelmed by all the results that came up on Yelp, that i just said screw it. i'm just gonna drive down to Noreiga (closest) and hopefully pop into something. I decided after looking down at my gas gauge that Peking Restaurant would have to do. I ordered the hot & sour soup (delicious! hearty, has lots of tofu, that black seaweed thingy, has a definite kick and prawns!), the beef chow fun (not too bad, a little bit on the bland side, needs some more seasoning or sauce) and the hunan style beef (the sauce tastes great...the beef itself didn't taste like beef at all, just very chewy fatness, and not the gooey good kind either). I'll start by saying this place looked dingier than the others on this small block, but we decided to come here. The primary reason was that I had brought a credit card and most of the places around took cash only or a different type of cc. The staff here was extremely nice. We had three different people waiting on us, which made everything very efficient and pleasing to my serving days of time past. The first dish we ordered was the Seaweed Egg Flower soup. When they brought it out, it looked amazing. The taste, however, was a little lacking. It really didn't set a good first impression as I noticed the peas had seemingly come from a frozen bag and the mushrooms were just slightly gritty, but overall it wasn't bad. The next dish, the Hong Kong style crispy noodles were really good. I actually enjoyed these a lot. It had plenty of meat and vegetables on top of the very crispy noodles. This certainly set a better tone with me. Peking beef came out next. I've never really noticed any adverse effects to eating MSG, but I'm sure it was in the food. Still, how can you give up a great dish just because of the umami components? The beef was perfectly light crisp-fried and had garlic, green onions, and ginger--all of which I'm a major fan! This really hit the spot with me. It certainly ended my dining experience well. All-in-all this isn't a bad little joint. I had such a fun time having dinner here last night! The guy who owns it (I think he owns it) with his wife (I think it's his wife), are the funniest people ever! His wife is so sweet, for example, she will say "thank you" to herself for doing something, then say "your welcome" to herself too, it was so cute I had such a hard time not giggling! Then the old man, was hilarious! He kept playing jokes on the tables and just made the whole dining experience lite and fun! The food was good too! Tried something new for delivery and this was top rated in the restaurants that were near me. I got Kung Pao Chicken, Pot Stickers, Chinese Chive Pancake, Boiled Meat Dumpling, and free pork chow fun. The pot stickers were delishous and the sauce that came with them were very yum. I loved the chow fun! But i think i could eat those noodles every day every meal. The Chinese chive pancakes are more like p'zone with stuffing. Better to eat this one fresh from the kitchen where it's still hot and crispy. The rest of the meal was just so so. The kung pao chicken i felt was bland. There was little flavor, but it's such a common dish. The boiled meat dumplings were the same bland flavor, but the dipping sauce for it made up for that. We've been ordering delivery from here for quiet a while now. Within 30 mins, dinner is on the table. For $25, 2 green chives pancakes with vermicelli, eggs and dry Shrimp.. the fillings are seasoned to PErfection BUT.. the skin are too crispy like the Crab Wonton, "Lion Head" Meatballs are a bit tough but they are HUGE literally the size of a peach... I still love this place, even though I do not get to come here often from, since I live in San Jose. Outstanding soup noodles Came back for a quiet lunch on Saturday and tried the soup noodles. The spicy beef noodles were extremely well prepared in tasty noodles with tender beef and tendons cooked to soft chewy consistency. Their Peking noodles were really packed with delicious ingredients like napa, fungus, shrimp, beef and pork. These were both very good, Hugh portioned dishes. Perfect for a cold day! Food itself is good. But one waitress-owner is just (an octave) way too loud and high pitched; I guess that is what one reviewer earlier described as "paranoid." When food arrived, my chow fun had a cigarette filter in it. When I was finally able to get the waiter's attention, he took the plate away and walked off with no comment. I had no idea what was going to happen at that point but he came back with a fresh plate of chow fun and said there would be no charge for the item. That's why I am giving them a second star. Peking is one of the best Chinese Restaurants not only for their great service but the food is yummie. We are a Vegetarian family and enjoy that they have some great selections. We placed an order online on their website which is pretty user friendly I must say. Then we received a call because she noticed we ordered a soup that wasn't vegetarian and wanted to make sure we meant to do that. Then she offered to make it without the meat. What amazing service!
