Came here for dinner for my birthday. Staff were very friendly and seated us earlier than our reservation. Even allowed us to store the cake in their fridge. Food was SALTY. I'm not sure if it was from all the chefs sweat and tears because they were extremely busy. Lots of takeout. Some of our orders almost got forgotten. When we let her know she asked us if we still wanted it which we did. We opted not to have the cake at the restaurant due to how busy they were and we felt like we were there forever. Over an hour. Came home to discover they had lost a candle. My guess is when they took the cake out to store in the fridge a candle somehow also left the bag and never made it back. Seating outside and inside but pretty limited. Parking can be challenging since it's only street parking. Would not come back. an unfortunate hot take from me, but pink onion was pretty underwhelming. obviously, the wednesday deal of getting an app, pasta, pizza, dessert, and bottle of wine for $60 is a GREAT deal, but the food was not as good as many people had told me it was. i could've also just ordered the wrong thing considering how extensive this menu is, though. service was quick and very friendly. my friend and i made a reservation for 5:30pm and we were very quickly seated, which i appreciate. the ambiance was nothing special; the restaurant was clean and well-lit, but small so the tables were super cramped together. getting in and out of your seat is a bit of a nightmare. foodwise, everything was fine but nothing too special. my favorite was definitely the parma e burrata, which was a prosciutto burrata salad with some fruits in it. this was absolutely delightful and had an incredible flavor and texture contrast. however, the rest of our meal left much to be desired. we got the truffle pasta, which had little to no truffle flavor (with the bit it did have likely coming from truffle oil, which isn't even real truffle usually) and was overly greasy. our pizza selection was the gotham pizza which has pepperoni, sausage, ricotta, and hot honey. the pizza was decent but nothing mind blowing, and there's definitely better pizza in sf/east bay. our pizza was also super greasy sadly. we got the tiramisu for dessert and this too left much to be desired. i felt the cake was too heavy and sweet, and i couldn't taste much rum or marsala wine. finally, the red wine we got for our wednesday deal was absolutely atrocious. it was overly dry and generally unpleasant. we later googled the bottle, which was a $17 wine. overall, pink onion offers a great wednesday deal especially in the expensive sf, but i think you can find better italian food elsewhere read more

Made a reservation and my group was sat down immediately which was awesome! Reservations are highly recommended since it is a popular spot! Pizzas were delicious and filling would highly recommend if you are a pizza lover. The restaurant is pretty busy. Our food did come out fast which was amazing but we did have to always get our waiters attention when something was needed/had questions. They never stopped by to ask if everything was okay or if anything was needed. Decided to give pink onion a try one Saturday night as I heard lots about it, and heard that getting a reservation was a must since they get busy very quick. Parking is pretty difficult as there's no dedicated parking spot for the restaurant so street parking is your best bet. The pasta was a truffle pasta and when I got it was very "truffley" to say the least, the flavors were not very strong and It felt pretty bland while eating it. The pizza was pretty good but felt like a regular pepperoni pizza with some red onions on it. I do believe the name was pink alert or pink something Overall this place and its ambiance was nice the people serving us and working there were pretty cool. Wow! Great food at a good price! A great price on Wednesdays! Remember if you want to do the Wednesday included bottle of wine to come early, or reserve months in advance. That being said this place is great for takeout or eat in any time and the Wednesday special doesn't make or break this place. I love their pizza and their muscle pasta. Steamed Mussels: The broth that was served with the mussels was so tasty! I can continuously eat these mussels for daysss, 10/10 recommend Pasta Tartufo: I love truffle so I really wanted to try this pasta. It was good, but didn't realize they used whole wheat pasta until I reread the menu, no wonder the pasta tasted a bit different. I'd try another pasta dish next time to compare. Gotham pizza: Loved the toppings on this pizza! The ricotta, sausages, and hot honey was so good! I wish the pizza had more sausage pieces. Tiramisu: Delicious. You can definitely taste the coffee. Light and creamy dessert! Their red wine was nothing too special, but can't complain on a free wine bottle. You can definitely take the wine bottle home if you can't finish the bottle since the bottle is a twist off. The restaurant is quite small, so I recommend making reservations if you plan to dine in on Wednesdays. I'd definitely would take advantage of their combo deal again and just order takeout. We were immediately greeted by the host at the door who checked us into our reservation, but since no seats were available yet he gave us a complimentary glass of wine. The inside is cute, but pretty small so make sure to make a reservation during busier hours! Once seated, we had the complimentary bread and it was sooo delicious! We ordered 4 pizzas and placed the order over the phone. They had a 30 minute wait on a Friday around 7pm, so you have to keep that in mind... We ordered 1 paisan, a magic mushroom, a Mexicano and 1 Gotham which was recommended to us as we ordered. Parking also required a bit of finesse but overall we really enjoyed the unique flavors. Note: the only two sizes that were offered were small and large. The pizza dough is made fresh and the small pizzas are approximately 6 slices. They don't do requests for 1/2 and 1/2 pizzas. If you have food allergies make sure to pay close attention to all of the ingredients on the menu because you will see some ingredients that you wouldn't typically see on a "traditional" pizza. I would highly recommend making a reservation if you can because the restaurant is pretty small and it gets packed especially on Wednesdays. You really can't beat their Wednesday combo deal - $60 for one app, one pasta, one pizza and one dessert ... PLUS a bottle of wine. We ordered two combos for four people and it was more than enough food. For starters we got the mussels (my favorite) and the prosciutto burrata, for pastas we got the tartufo (YES) and the vodka rigatoni (which was also delicious but a little too creamy for me), for pizzas we got the magic mushroom (YES YES YES) and the soppressata (good but loved the mushroom one). I mean where else can you find a deal like this in SF? So we started off with a ceaser salad, their truffle pasta, and the #6 pizza, and tiramisu. The pasta was INCREDIBLE.
