Lasagna special and Garlic and Oil !
    Elizabeth C.

Another amazing meal at Polpette 71 ! I had the Lasagna, special menu and my husband's favorite, spaghetti with garlic and oil . Of course we started with "meatballs ". The best in Manhattan!

Walked around Columbus Ave and realized THIS is the other Italy in NYC. Though I'm Italian I almost never eat Italian--but went to find something good. Polpette fit the bill! I really thank them for explaining every menu item--I'd be lost without it. As for service: my water never emptied, and I didn't wait long either. Got the pollo Pollo Milanese with pasta and was pleasantly happy! It all tasted great and lasted me two days. I'd say it didn't have as much flavor as I remember, but still pretty good!

Wonderful! Great food, exceptional service, friendly staff. They made our anniversary dinner special.

After we checked in to our hotel (La Quinta) on Christmas Eve, we went out in search for a restaurant that was open. It was freezing cold and we were starving, so when we came across Polpette 71 a few doors down from our hotel, we didn't hesitate to go in. My husband had the spaghetti and meatballs, and I had a chicken and pasta dish and the ginger carrot soup, which was on special, to start. We also shared a bottle of wine and the complimentary garlic bread. The food wasn't amazing (well, the soup was), but it was pretty solid and filling, and we did not regret our choice, even though it was $134 US (before tip). The restaurant was cozy and warm (which was very much needed that night), great service, and they also do gluten free options. [Yelp collections: NY Christmas 2022]

Delicious zucchini soup special with basil oil and croutons- yum!

Great ambiance and delicious food. In a sea of great italian restaurants, Poloette 71 is our favorite for ambiance and food. We always order a customized dish and the kitchen always splits the dish for us! The portion sizes are super large so a shared app and entree is usually plenty of food. We love the pillowy, homemade gnocchi and while it's usually served with marianara, we request pesto all the time !

Fish with tomatoes sauce, chicken Marsala, sautéed broccoli and tiramisu.

I had dinner here twice. On our first visit, my husband really enjoyed his veal Marsala but not the soggy side pasta. I had a fish dish with some tomato sauce and I wasn't a fan of that combination. On my second visit I had chicken Marsala; I liked it much better, especially the sauce which was delicious. The side order of sautéed broccoli was very good. The tiramisu was very heavy and came with only a few sprinkles of cocoa powder. I had to ask for more cocoa powder but was still not enough for my taste. The place was very quiet on my visits, maybe because we went after 8:30pm. The space was very comfortable and cozy. The service was good and friendly.

I was excited when I found out that they had the squid ink pasta. Unfortunately I was disappointed that the Black Linguini with salmon, mussels, shrimp, leeks, tomatoes, garlic and olive oil was bland. We also ordered the meatballs (their speciality) and Insalata arugula. The meatballs were light not too heavy which was good.

This place made me fall in love with New York and Italian food all over again. I've been to NYC many times, but this was my first time exploring the Upper West Side. There were five of us, on a mission to celebrate my daughter's birthday without her knowing, and we ended up at Polpette. It's a cozy and warm place. We were seated at a large wooden table without tablecloths at the back of the restaurant. We were soaked, cold, and hungry due to the rain, but LuAnn's warm, speedy, funny Italian attitude made all of us giggle. This place is famous for its award-winning meatballs, so if it's famous, you should definitely order them. The focaccia is simple but so good. I was initially going for the black linguini, but the Pappardelle special with grilled shrimp, salmon, and vodka sauce, along with wide homemade pasta, made me change my mind at the last minute. I loved the ribbon pasta, and the vodka sauce is rich but doesn't overpower the seafood. They grilled the shrimp to add an extra layer of flavor, and the salmon chunks were incredibly tender. At the end, the owner brought out the mini cakes that my friend had prepared for my daughter. My daughter was so surprised; the plan worked, thanks to LuAnn's vibrant personality. We shared a slice of the lemon cake with her. Turns out, we were sitting at the special table, which is the owner's family dining table! The food is excellent, and the prices are surprisingly affordable (considering it's New York with inflation and all). Btw, we also ordered a bottle of red wine. This place may not be those fancy 5-star place with modem deco and stuck up servers, but it's a family own, family run place. The pasta still taste good when it's cold (late night snack,

Italian restaurant in UWS that's apparently well known for it's meatballs so naturally, I had to get spaghetti with meatballs dish. Overall, I'd say they're pretty good, but they're a bit softer than I would normally prefer. Almost feels like the protein was overworked which loses some of the tenderness. Still a good dish and would recommend it if you're in the area

Everything was fantastic! The meatballs, the pasta, service and ambiance was all 10/10. We are now frequent customers

This was by far some of the best Italian food I've ever had. What truly made my experience here so magnificent was the customer service. My friend and I came here around 4pm on a weekday and the restaurant was just about empty. We sat outside at the cutest little table, multiple staff members ensured we had everything we needed at all times. We got their signature spritz to drink - it was quite refreshing, not too sweet. Then we split the eggplant sliders and their specialty gnocchi marinara. The chef was kind enough to split the gnocchi for us without even asking!! Both the gnocchi and sliders were absolutely scrumptious. The sliders were so tender and flavorful with a generous amount of sauce, it's without question that everything was made from scratch. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

The menu has plenty of variety across pastas, seafood, and cocktails, with some unique dishes that made the experience memorable. The drinks were a highlight, and the seafood options stood out the most for me. My Tipsy Tayke: The Fragola Fizz was juicy, fruity, and refreshing. The Forever Summer was another standout, with the smokiness of the mezcal blending really well with the fruit flavors without overpowering them. Both are easy recommendations depending on whether you want something fruity or a little more complex. My Taysty Tayke: Get Down & Dirty, Expeditiously: Seafood Ravioli Unique, flavorful, and packed with different seafood flavors. The ravioli itself was delicate and had a tendency to fall apart, but the flavor made up for it. Standout: Calamari Crispy, seasoned, and enjoyable. It had a slightly chewy texture, but I still found myself going back for more. The Carpaccio wasn't necessarily for me texture-wise, but I really enjoyed the greens and dressing that accompanied it. The garnish felt intentional and helped bring the dish together. The Pappardelle came with plenty of sauce but could have used more flavor overall. The complimentary bread was also tougher and chewier than I prefer. Desserts: The Lemon Sorbet was easily my favorite dessert. Bright, refreshing, and packed with real lemon flavor. The Mango Sorbet was another refreshing option with a smooth tropical sweetness. The Panna Cotta Cheesecake leaned closer to a mousse in texture and was definitely on the sweeter side. I especially enjoyed it with the cherry, which helped balance everything out. Service: Warm and attentive throughout the meal, fitting the inviting atmosphere. Plates From My Visit: Calamari Carpaccio Seafood Ravioli Pappardelle Lemon Sorbet Mango Sorbet Panna Cotta Cheesecake Fragola Fizz Forever Summer In Conclusion: A warm Chelsea Italian spot with strong cocktails, unique seafood dishes, and refreshing desserts. The Seafood Ravioli was the highlight of the savory side, but whatever you do, save room for that Lemon Sorbet. Stamped by Elajas

This was enough for both of us as we got a couple servings of the house bread. We then got to our main courses. While she got her seafood, I got the TORTINO DI MELANZANE. When we entered the restaurant and took the elevator up to the restaurant, we were delighted to find free wine provided for us to pour in the elevator. Admittedly, it was red wine, so not my favorite, and it did taste cheap, but still appreciated. To start off, we ordered the onion torta, focaccia, and smashed potatoes. The onion torta was surprisingly good and tasted like a form of french onion soup. As a focaccia enthusiast, the focaccia was fluffy and delicious. We also got the charred beans, carrots, ravioli, tagliatelle, ravioli, and trout to share. The charred beans were surprisingly the long beans and not the smaller ones we expected. However, they were very juicy and better than we thought they would be. The rigatoni resembled cacio e pepe with its pepperiness, the tagliatelle tasted like standard red sauce, but i did enjoy the ravioli and the ricotta inside. For dessert, we had the basque cheesecake which was alright, but I'm not the biggest fan of cheesecake. Overall, we had a great time at Ci Siamo and I would definitely recommend ordering the focaccia and onion torta and we could have skipped the carrots, beans, trout, and tagliatelle.

The interior was completely packed, and the noise level was high enough for my smart watch to complain. To sample a bit of everything, we shared two orders of focaccia, four pastas, and one dessert. HOUSE-MADE FOCACCIA - 10 Super bouncy with a bit of chew, this was probably the best focaccia I've ever eaten. It came generously drizzled with olive oil and alongside chopped peppers drenched in even more olive oil, which added a nice little kick. We highly recommend starting with this. TAGLIATELLE - 27 Out of the four pastas, this was my absolute favorite. I love the thin yet chewy texture of the tagliatelle, and the bolognese sauce was rich and hearty. Finished with just the right amount of Parmigiano, both the pasta texture and sauce were sheer perfection. PICI 'CACIO E PEPE' - 23 This was such a simple pasta, yet so delicious. It was incredibly creamy and cheesy, with hints of fresh black pepper flavor that blew standard at-home black pepper grinders out of the water. Despite it being the simplest pasta of the night, I enjoyed it immensely. RIGATONI - 32 This pasta was simple yet slightly innovative, featuring sausage paired with a broccoli-based pesto. There was a slight bitterness that was polarizing among our group. While this wasn't my favorite pasta, I appreciated the creativity. PERCIATELLI NERO - 35 This dish packed in more components than just pasta and sauce: plenty of crab, tomatoes, and crispy breadcrumbs on top. However, the combination wasn't very memorable. None of the flavors really stood out, and it was my least favorite pasta of the night. OLIVE OIL CAKE - 14 Served with a pile of golden raisins and fancy whipped cream, this ended up being a bit of a miss. The raisins were a bit too sweet, and the cake's texture was uneven -- some bites were soft and moist, while others felt dry. A couple of others in my group also felt the same way. Overall, I'd give L'Artusi a 4.5/5; it was mostly hits with a couple of misses. The pasta portions are quite small. Since each dish is primarily carbs and sauce, I'd imagine you'll likely need an appetizer or a pasta and a half to leave full. Still, I'd definitely come back for the focaccia, tagliatelle, and the cacio e pepe.

I called L'Artusi on Friday, August 21st just to check on a reservation, and the woman who answered…read morethe phone was immediately snotty. Instead of simply confirming it, she made a comment like "you should know if you've been here before," which was unnecessary and pretty rude for such a basic question. It wasn't a busy‑restaurant kind of tone--it was just attitude. Not exactly the first impression you expect from a place that tries to present itself as polished. A quick, polite confirmation would've gone a long way, but instead it felt dismissive and unwelcoming. For a restaurant with their reputation, having someone speak to guests like that over a simple call really doesn't help the image.
