Food was really good. The pies may be 5 inches in diameter but they are definitely enough for one person. The crust was flaky and the Aussie Pie was stuffed with great ingredients. I ordered online and it was quite simple. But like every place in San Diego, there is absolutely no place to park. Finally found a spot and when I got to Pop Pies the ambiance was really cool to not only see the pie shop, but it also houses a coffee shop and ice cream parlor. The service was great. They had my order and was waiting in a warming oven. Outside of the parking, I'd definitely come back for coffee and ice cream, too. Have been wanting to check out this place at their North Park location but haven't made it there. Now that they have a location in Point Loma, I have finally come since I was already in the vicinity! Since we had already eaten, we had come to get the salted caramel apple pie for dessert. This was yummy! Love a good pie! We also ordered some pies to go for lunch the next day! We got the chicken pie and the aussie meat pie. I got a combo with 1/2 mashed potatoes & 1/2 corn as the sides. The pies are quite filling on their own. I like how the pies are actually packed inside with the meats! Not skimpy on that! I also love their crust. It's not so heavy! Definitely way better than the frozen pot pies you get at the supermarket! Speaking of frozen pies, you can also get them here and cook them up at home if you like. Okay, I long awaited this place popping in only walking distance from my house. Since opening, I've definitely frequented this spot, and I recommend to my friends and family. The highlights of this place for me are the pies and the ice cream at the neighboring/ co-space sharer, Stella Jeans Ice Cream. With my known sweet tooth, I have been pleasantly surprised that the savory vegetarian pot pies have stole the show for me here time and time again. The only complaint I have about this place is that they are slow. I find myself one of two customers in line, and it takes 5 minutes or more for the workers to take my order. I'm not usually one to complain, but this has been consistent of my experience here. I just want to share. All that being said, perhaps they are understaffed? Cute shop and cool concept...no other customers there with us this Friday morning for breakfast. We ordered a Boss, chive quiche, lemon berry pastry, and 2 lattes. Service was not overly friendly but cordial. Each item came out individually as it was ready. The Boss was large and good WITH the syrup...but without it was quite dry. Okay so first things first, this is the cutest place with nice art and the perfect spot on the corner. This was our first time coming and super excited. We were greeted by several employees and asked if we needed anything to let them know. The green hog and cheese was underwhelming to say the least. It was missing the cheese listed, we didn't get any hint of peppers either nor potatoes. The only thing you really could taste was the pork itself and the tomatillos. The crust was nice but I would suggest adding the ingredients that were supposed to be in there and maybe some other fillers like corn, some cilantro, spinach etc. now onto the mashed potatoes, that was the star of the show sadly enough. They had so much flavor, the gravy was rich and delicious, absolutely wonderful. The lemon hand pie only had lemon on one side of the pie, I wish it was spread throughout with the berries or at least on both ends of the pie. The blueberry yuze slice was good but it was missing the nice balance of berries and apples. We dropped by recently to get frozen pies to go and were convinced to get one of each (5 pack for $40) - chicken, green hog and cheese, Aussie meat, roasted veggies and yellow curry, and veggie pot pie. We have slowly worked our way through them and honestly they were all delicious although our favorites were probably the green hog and cheese and veggie/curry. They come out of the oven flakey and with a good amount of filling. We found it was nice to defrost them in the fridge overnight before popping them in the oven for 50-55 min the day of. Love pot pies? Then this place is must! We saw this place a few times in passing but never got a chance to stop in. We finally made it a point to check them out and we are super glad that we did. We weren't too hungry when we came in so we opted for a light snack and drinks to hold us over so we ended up sharing the Boss Breakfast Pie and had Matcha Horchata and New Orleans Cold Brew. The Boss Breakfast Pie was delicous! It definitly hit that savory spot that we were craving! It came with some syrup on the side but honestly, it didn't even need it. We actually liked it better without it. But if you want that combination of sweet and savory, adding the syrup would be the best bet. Who would have thought that a pot pie for breakfast would be this awesome! It's too bad we had only ordered one as there were other pies that we wanted to try as well- the more reason for us to come back! And next time with an emptier stomach!! The drinks were just as good too. The New Orleans Cold Brew was perfect! Great taste that wasn't sweet and the coffee taste wasn't masked at all. Not sure if they have this bottled, but we'll be checking in case we want to stock our fridge! The iced Matcha Horchata was delicious, as well. Maybe even get some work done or study? Only thing bad I can say about this place is the parking. There are a few dedicated spots in the back behind the homes which can easily be missed. Visiting out of town with my husband and 2 dogs and pop pie was walking distance from our airbnb and I'm glad we walked here! They have a variety of pies to choose. Some are sweet and they even have savory pies along with ice cream! The pies were delicious and a nice crust. Service was very nice and attentive! When I let them know to pack it to go and I'll eat it outside since I had my dogs they actually let me take my 2 pups inside to enjoy the pies which was so sweet of them since that was when SD was going through a heat wave! The crust on my pot pie was perfectly flakey and the filling was nice and creamy. The curry flavor was mild and coconutty. If I didn't already know it was vegan, I wouldn't be able to guess. The size was also good for a single portion. I had the hand pies over the next couple of days and they still tasted fresh. The Pop Pie Co is my favorite spot in Point Loma to eat, their chicken pot pie is the best pot pie I have ever tasted! Their matcha tastes like it's fit for royalty, I have never tasted such a good matcha and I have had lots of it in my life. The lovely employees there always have a smile on their face and make nice conversation, I always love talking to them.
