This is not the same Pupatella I've tried in 2018 in Arlington! No, it's not! This brand has matured a lot! This isn't a restaurant ! This is another Stargate that takes you to Napoli from the DMV in 90 seconds! The moment I entered the restaurant , I smelled heaven!! Italian heaven, to be specific! I placed my order to go, a very nice girl under training ( they just opened this location ) , and she took my name and number as the system will text me once the order is ready! Then I left to take my photos and I came back inside to find them looking for me because the order is ready!! It was so fast! I was super impressed! I ordered Prosciutto arugula pizza on white sauce instead of red and a Calabrese pizza! Also, a Frittura sampler and Tiramisu The only item that didn't impress me was only the Tiramisu ! Come on! The place that made these great pizzas and arancini can definitely make a better authentic Tiramisu ;) but that's ok! The two pizzas were a tale !! Amazing ! Could take it or leave it...the pizza is just 'meh' IMHO since I'm used to REALLY AUTHENTIC TASTY THIN CRUST NYC pizza!!! This crust was just so SUPER chewy through and through. It did not have that authentic crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside texture I was looking for. The toppings were good but not great. We ordered the prosciutto, arugula, pizza, and the Frittura (which tasted frozen and reheated) sampler. Both were just OK and satisfied our hunger, but nothing to make us desiring to look forward returning to anytime soon or ever at all when there are MUCH more superior pizza restaurants closer to where I live. This place pizza reminds me the Neapolitan pizza we ate in Central Market in Florence!! The thinness of pizza dough, tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, and fresh basil are just perfect for me! I don't need to go to Italy to eat authentic pizza any more! Not only the delicious pizza, the appetizers and the dessert, all the staff served us were very friendly. We were so comfortable in this friendly atmosphere! We went there during the happy hour, Mon-Fri, 3-6pm. Just being a busybody, my concern was so many staff there. We have eaten at pupatella's twice, once for carry out. We've ordered the diavola, buffaletta, and onion pie. By far the onion pie (despite it not having their amazing red sauce) is my favorite. My husband loves the diavola which never is short of meat and toppings. Service is always fantastic...as a matter of fact, everyone working tonight welcomed us with open arms and with a toddler you never experience that! They gave us a shirt and let our little man practice being floor manager for the night while we enjoyed our beer and wine. I see many recommendations for Pupatella so decided to check it out. I recently ordered a pepperoni pizza and added sausage to the order. The pizza was $22.39 with tax and tip, for an 11" pie -- a bit pricier than other local joints, some of which offer 14" pepperoni pizzas for $9.99 lately. The pizza was very tasty and I appreciate that they: 1) use quality ingredients including in the dough and red sauce; 2) use enough red sauce that you can taste it, which makes a difference; and 3) use crumbled sausage and not big sausage chunks or slices, as doing it this way spreads the sausage all around the pie. The crust was not my favorite though: good dough, and good around the edges, but very floppy in the center to the point of feeling undercooked there. I liked what I ordered and some day might try a more "sophisticated" pie of theirs, they have good looking menu selections. But if the crust is consistently floppy in the middle, that will probably be it for me. I ordered carry out but the ambiance looked nice when I picked it up, and the order was ready on time which is increasingly uncommon so points for that. read more

Stopped in on a Saturday for lunch. It wasn't busy when we arrived but it picked up later. The menu has lots of options but we stick with the pizza. I had a Diet Coke and my wife got the unsweetened tea with a shot of mango. I got the margherita DOC and my wife got the capricciosa. Typically it has kalamata olives but theirs doesn't so we added it for an extra dollar. Both pizzas were delicious but did not come out piping hot as they should from the oven. They asked if we wanted Parmesan cheese which we do. We got cannolis for dessert and they were fresh. The total bill was $61 with tip. If the pizzas were hot we would have given a 5 star rating. My family ordered take out from Pupatella in Chantilly. We ordered, the brussel sprouts, panzarotti, garlic and cheese bread, caivano, chorizo, margarita and a pepperoni. The crust was on the thinner size, but flavorful, the ingredients were very fresh, the sauce was sweet and savory at the same time. The appetizers were well prepared. We had leftover pizza the next day that I put on a pizza pan at 450 for 10 minutes and my husband claimed it was even better the next day. Next time, I would go in person. read more

This place has one of the best pizzas I've had probably ever. It may be blasphemous to add that after I took a piece home and reheated it with oil the bottom of the crust developed a nice crackeryness to it that was the ONLY thing I found lacking in the restaurant. I'm typically really critical of the food I eat especially with the company I had today. We almost immediately get into the details, but during my first piece I forgot to even think about what the toppings were. It was the onion tart. I'm not even going to look it up to finish this review. The sweet onion and the perfect bacon were a great pairing with whatever cheese and white base they used. I also tried a piece of the mushroom pizza. Their mushrooms are actually properly cooked and there is enough truffle on it to help but not to take over. If you like mushrooms on your pizza from any of the standard pizza places this might ruin it. Deserts were good. Even though 2 of the three of us thought that the standard tiramisu would have been the better choice, neither of us was disappointed in our decisions to try other deserts. The strawberry tiramisu is like a hybrid between a strawberry shortcake and a cheesecake. It's good, but their tiramisu was better. The dining room is a square box with window walls. The place is an echo chamber. When we first got in, they were still busy and the kid across from us wearing the earmuffs had the right idea. Aside from that, which they can't control, the servers were awesome. They paid attention, asked questions, and seemed actually happy to be there. I asked about their flour and the manager was excited to brag about the authenticity of their flour, their ovens, and the strict rules they have to follow to maintain their certification.
