The dishes weren't trying too hard to be "just like" their non-vegan counterparts--they stood on their own, full of bold flavors and thoughtful ingredients. The decor was a nice touch--modern, warm, and inviting without feeling overly trendy. It was the kind of place that felt just right for a casual dinner but also special enough for a date. And speaking of dates, I was there with someone, and the cozy ambiance definitely helped set the mood. Service was another highlight. The staff was fast and friendly, making great recommendations and checking in just enough without hovering. You could tell they actually cared about making sure guests had a good experience. We had a truly good meal at Rad Radish today. We had to pop-in to SF City Hall this afternoon, and as vegetarians I had to scope out a suitable lunch place in the vicinity....and Rad Radish came up. The reviews were pretty decent and we stopped by..and for the amount of food, taste, and selection we weren't disappointed. My companion had The Impossible Burger with a sizable mound of fries and a side salad, and a fresh lemonade; and I had the "Chicken" Caesar Wrap. I requested a bit of hot sauce (habanero possibly?) as I think it needed that extra kick in the pants..and well, cuz everything benefits from hot sauce me thinks. :) But, even then it was one of the best tasting, reasonably priced eateries in the area for vegetarian/vegan food. Our meal for two came to about $55...which ain't too shabby for that 'hood. I'll have to make an excuse to go back down to Civic Center just so I can make another trip to Rad Radish. read more

I'm excited this restaurant is here in Hayes Valley. Great to have a variety of food options especially one that serves vegetarian/vegan fare. I'm not a vegetarian or vegan, but I like options. The inside is lovely, love the pop of colors throughout balanced by neutral color lamps and wicker chairs. For those of you who want a balance of self service and staff service, you can find both options here. Self service with kiosks in the front, staff service ordering in the back. Once you paid, you pick a seat and staff will deliver the food to your table. Let's talk about the food. I love the Greek salad with the option of adding in falafel. Absolutely delicious and feels pretty healthy after noshing. The falafel is just the right amount of texture and green that I'm looking for. If you are looking for a pizza, they offer different flatbreads here. I tried their carbonara flatbread with truffle vegan béchamel, tempeh bacon, peas, and Parmesan. The flatbread is delicious. I usually never write reviews, but this place absolutely blew my mind, so I had to. I went here 6 times this last weekend because I couldn't get enough! I'm so shocked that it's vegan, and I am so proud of this restaurant for absolutely killing it and redefining any stupid stereotype that vegan food can't be as good. My favorite dish had to be the Macha Libre Smash. Usually, people grill the vegan patty to the max, but they grilled this patty to a medium rare/well style, holy crap, it was so good and so juicy. The flavors were also so incredible and came together perfectly. This was my favorite sandwich (as a meat eater), but my vegetarian friends liked the spicy chicken sandwich better. I am also obsessed with the avocado chocolate ganache, spicy arabiatta, and chia pudding. The kale Caesar wrap was also PERFECT and so nicely tangy. The only misses were the neatball masala bowl, and the blueberry muffin was a bit dry (although the pineapple banana muffin one was good). However, everything else was so perfect that I don't even care. This restaurant is absolutely a 10/10 and is one of my favorite restaurants of all time! read more

After living in Portland, I started to realize that SF isn't as veg friendly as I once thought. I was so happy to have found this place that once housed the beloved Grove. We went there for breakfast. The interior is adorable. We didn't get to interact with the staff much, as you order at a kiosk and then bring the food to you. We had the chilaliquis, which had a kick to it, but was more filling than I expected. The real shining star was my lavender latte. Ever since my trip to NOLA in 2020 I have been on a quest to find a lavender latte that could even remotely hold a candle to the one I had there. I still think the one in NOLA was better, but this was a close second. Tl;dr great food/range, great atmosphere, fast service - definitely coming back! Rad Radish was open on New Year's Day, so I stopped by with another friend for #Veganuary. The restaurant interior and decor is one of my favorite parts; desert color tones, lanterns, crocheted plant containers, and different kinds of seating. It makes the sit-down/eating experience that much more lively. You can either order at the counter or use a QR code at your table, and they brought the food within 10 minutes of us being seated. I ordered The Vird (their crispy chicken sandwich) kimchi style (sub kimchi for the slaw) and spicy, and my friend ordered the Curry Bowl. Overall, the Vird was some of the best cooked plant based chicken I had. It was so crispy and well fried, but it definitely could've use more kimchi (or a combo of that and the apple slaw) to cut through the grease. The spicy sauce did have a good kick!! It looked like a smaller portion, but I was pretty full at the end. The curry bowl was actually really well spiced (milder but yummy), and the rice / veggies were cooked nicely. Rad Radish is super! rad! and I would vouch for it being the spot to be at or after work for Happy Hour as they offer drinks for $5 M-F from 4-6PM! While we weren't here specifically for HH, we ordered their: Autumn Flatbread Neatball Masala The Vird aka their Crispy Chicken With the evening, the lights were dimmed, food was ordered via a QR code, and wifi was complimentary and used as I saw some customers were on their laptop-sounds like the perfect date night spot that has everything within fingertips reach. The Neatball Masala was so good to the point that if I came back, which I plan to, I'd probably order this without wanting to try anything else on the menu; the ingredients and two sauces went so well together! While the Autumn Flatbread was delicious with kale, what made it better were the addition of carrots from the Neatball Masala and a lemon squeeze provided from the hot water. There was nothing particular or out of the ordinary about the Vird, so I'd pass on this however I found it odd that their online menu vs. Toast ordering menu have different names for this item; the former stating the Vird and the latter stating Crispy Chicken. Didn't have to wait too long but had to clean our own table and get our own plates/cutlery. Ordering we choose to do the QR code for ease. Drinks: Pino Noir Carafe - decent table wine, no complaints. Food: Smoked Bean Hummus - this was ultra creamy, served with a few vegetables on the side, would recommend adding a pita to have more stuff to dip into the hummus. Friend thought it was on the salty side. Green Falafel - comes with 3, they were light crispy and not oily, served with a yogurt sauce, tasty appetizer to start the meal. Oh my goodness, the Neatball Masala was one of the best things I've ever eaten. Flavorful "neatballs" (i.e. not meatballs), covered in a flavorful but not spicy coconut masala sauce, over crunchy supergrains, alongside kale, pickled carrots, and tzatziki. I savored every single bite. I also got their Wildseed Fries that ca me with Chipotle aioli, herb aioli and curry ketchup - all three of which were delicious and I honestly don't know if I can pick a favorite. The fries themselves were a tad soggy not long after they were brought to my table, but I could forgive that. I like the concept of being able to order at kiosks, but still be able to ask questions to one of the many staff going back and forth between the kitchen and tables (the one guy I talked to seemed happy to stop to answer my question), and then choosing your own table and having the food brought to you by the servers once your food is ready. (Not sure what their system is for knowing which table to bring stuff to, because during my time dining there, the servers kept bringing food to the wrong tables. I like how there's so much space and it's quick serve/casual so it's a nice spot for hanging out by yourself and reading or getting some work done, or meeting up with a friend. I ordered one of the alcohol cocktails; on the menu it says something about how the cocktails are low ABV. I really liked my drink a lot but it still tasted on the strong side so it definitely wasn't weak to me, FYI. I also ordered marinated cucumbers which were a nice crunchy, savory/vinegary snack. Here is my glowing 5-star review from Rad Radish's FIRST customer!! Woohoo!! That's right folks, I was the 1st person! I read about Rad Radish's anticipated opening through various food blogs and knew that they are the sister restaurant to Wildseed and under the same family as Super Duper Burger and a few other well-known SF restaurants. This made me excited because I love Wildseed, but it's inconvenient to get to as it's in the Marina and I live on the opposite side of the City. Hayes Valley is much closer and more convenient for me to get to. Plus, Hayes Valley is in sore need of more vegan restaurants (or restaurants that provide more plant-based options in general), and fast-casual eateries that don't require reservations, long waits, or full-service. The sign on their door said that they'd be open at 3pm on Monday 8/15. I arrived right at 3pm only to see that they pushed back their opening time to 4pm. Boo, I was starving but I waited and that's why I was customer #1! Walking in, you see a bright, airy, and colorful restaurant! 2-tops lined the left side of the restaurant with long windows that let in plenty of natural light. More seating and communal/large tables took up the right side. There's even outdoor seating with their cute built-in tables and chairs. You walk right into the center to order at the POS stations. Tucked behind is a cozy nook with couches and lounge chairs that are perfect to have a meal by yourself and read a book or people-watch. Kitchen is on the back right side. Scrolling through the menu, there are plenty of healthy options that are modern and not boring at all! Choose from appetizers, salads, grain bowls, sandwiches/burgers, or flatbreads. Beer, wine, and a few cocktails are available on top of a full list of non-alcoholic refreshing, and healthy drinks. My friend and I decided to share The Vird Sandwich & Spicy Sausage Flatbread. The Vird: Crispy chicken patty with housemade apple slaw, pickles, and her aoli. Simple, yet full of flavor! Chicken is crispy on the outside but warm and moist on the inside. The sauces and slaw added a nice contrast of texture and flavor that is balanced and not too overpowering. We added a side of fries, perfectly fried to a crisp and served with a side of organic ketchup that doesn't taste like the usual high fructose-loaded stuff you get elsewhere. Spicy Sausage Flatbread: LOVED this one! Spicy vegan sausage and colorful Calabrian & sweet chilies speckled this generously sized flatbread with vegan mozzarella, mushroom, and basil. Essentially all my favorite pizza toppings! It has a nice kick from the sausage and chilies, and the sauce is flavorful. I would definitely get this one again and again. I love that there are plenty of options for those that want whole fully plant-based meals, but there are also options with faux meat, such as Tindle Chicken and BlackSheep Lamb. Not all vegans eat the same diet! For drinks, my friend got the Faction Pilsner and I tried their Beets Me cocktail, which is a blend of Rouge Vermouth, Torino, beet, and bitters. Light, refreshing, and perfect for the summer! They only had 3 cocktails on their menu to begin with, so I look forward to seeing them grow their spirits offerings and seasonal cocktails. They even have vegan SOFT SERVE. AHHH! Alas, too stuffed from my meal, I shall just have to return to try it. Overall, had a lovely time and enjoyed the atmosphere and food. With vegan food as good as this, I don't need meat at all. All dishes have been great but I'm particularly partial to the spicy "sausage" pasta. After our Cross Country meet in the morning (and then more running), we were ready for brunch! We were a party of four + baby- three vegans, one vegetarian-preferring. We ordered the following via Kiosk to share: -Wildseed Fries: I know these are just fries but this place does them right. Small to medium length fries, fried to the perfect doneness. None overdone or burnt, none limp and undercooked. These come with a trio of dips: herb aioli, chipotle aioli, curry ketchup. I think the most unique-tasting would be the ketchup but all the dips were really good! -The Vird: don't ask questions, just order it! The "chikn" battered and fried to perfection and had great texture, the tang of the slaw went well with the herby sauciness of the herb aioli, and the pickles were super good too!! -BLAT: Bread perfectly grilled, fillings fresh, and I don't know what kind of tomato they used, but the slices were huge and matched the surface area of the bread. I'm not a fan of tomato, but my friends are. They definitely enjoyed the perfection of this sandwich assembly as well as the magnificent tomato. -Meatballs: *note* sauce has a teeny bit of kick. If you have 0 tolerance for spice, you might want to skip this. For everyone else, this is a must try if you have space! Tasty umami meatless meatballs, rich savory arrabiata red sauce with fresh basil + crusty grilled bread. SO GOOD!! -Al Pastor Bowl: I think we probably could have skipped this one. It was good but not something we couldn't throw together at home. Not my favorite preparation of tofu but it's still a good dish. There are just more interesting ones on the Rad Radish menu that are worth trying before ordering this one. -Neatball Masala: Sorry, this was overshadowed by everything else. I think if we came on a different day and only ordered this, we probably would have had gotten a better taste of it. This was pretty good, savory and spiced. In my experience from Wildseed visits, the Neatball although tasty is either gummy or crumbly. On this day, we got the crumbly edition. All the elements of the bowl were fresh and tasty. I really liked the tsaziki. The texture was perfect (vs being too watery or too goopy). All the ingredients tied together nicely. This wasn't my favorite dish but it was good. -French Toast: I'm still thinking about this dish... vegan French toast is such a treat. Rad Radish does such a great job with their huge slabs of French toast. With its crispy edges and spongy center, topped with whipped cream and fresh berries. It's everything you need to perfect your brunch. Almost. GET THE SOFT SERVE! -Oat Milk Soft Serve: Vegan soft serve that isn't a sorbet is pretty rare too. This was indeed a nice treat topped with cacao nibs, chocolate fudge, and candied almond slivers. I wish this came in sizes. We would have super sized this one to share! The ordering process was quick and easy. You get to even pick your buzzer number to assign to your order. So, if you're a numbers person, you can pick your favorite number for this purpose. There is a table where you can grab cutlery, napkins and water. Everything looked stocked, clean and ready to go. The space is nice and open with simple decor. It was the perfect chill place to have brunch. There isn't table service so you're on your own in keeping your table tidy etc. It's nice being left alone to pig out imo. I can't wait to be back. Adriano Paganini owns Rad Radish through his Back House restaurant group and is responsible for other popular San Francisco dining establishments. The food is seasonal by nature and peak-season. They opt for local farmers and the best vegan purveyors. This restaurant provides a fresh and healthier alternative to guests while being conscientious about the community and the planet. The interior is very bright and contemporary with with macrame-style plant hangings, minimal yet carefully sought out pop decorations, artsy lounge seating section, and more plants. It is reminiscent of work-from-home-office vibes. It feels really casual, clean, and cozy as if I were back in my room. You can eat here with a friend, get work done here, have meetings too, basically you get it all in one space. There is a kiosk to order from, or you can get served at the counter. I would describe the food here as quintessentially American comfort food, but vegan and "clean." I like the thought put into it all. My favorite is the neatball masala, it is something I haven't had before. It tastes like a clean version of masala-meats-Sweetgreen. I came here with my family for a late lunch, and we had a great food experience. We have been vegan for over a decade and have visited many places. The place looks great and beautiful. This is essentially a fast food place with healthy options. The service was quick, and it was clear that they actually wanted to be as quick as possible. We had salads, burgers and dessert. i come here weekly to have a chicken caesar salad wrap and an arnold palmer. the wrap is INCREDIBLE and i love the open, light, peaceful atmosphere. there is background music, people chatting, and general restaurant noise, which is totally expected, but what isn't is a man playing videos at top volume on his phone. yesterday i came in to enjoy a lunch and a book, and don't think it's a large ask to have a person use headphones when using their device in a public space ! i asked an employee to ask the guy to put in headphones, and when she hesitated, i told her i would do it myself if she felt uncomfortable. ultimately she got another employee (perhaps a manager) to go over and do it, as another restaurant patron expressed how much the noise bothered her as well. not only did this person NOT put in headphones, he came over to my table before leaving to call me a fucking bitch who should go to a library if i expected quiet. he cussed at me some more, calling me a bitch and an asshole, then left. the initial employee i spoke with did say sorry when i walked past her on my way out, but that's not enough. i'm curious what your policy is on a) excessive noise in your restaurant and b) people harassing your customers. i don't think it's an unreasonable request to not have a phone playing. for 30 minutes. at top volume. in a restaurant. i come here on a regular basis, but no longer feel comfortable dining in a restaurant that seemingly has no policy in place for noise and/or harassment. read more

Love this spot. Nice atmosphere and a great menu make this place hard not to love. We tried the spicy chicken sandwich and Caesar wrap and both were as fresh as could be and super tasty. Just writing this is making me crave them both again. The fries were also delicious , you can tell they are fresh cut and had the best crispy bits. The drinks were delicious too, low ABV style. Walked by this place and saw how cute the decor was and wanted to try it out! I'm not vegan or vegetarian but my friend is so we decided to check it out. You order at the electronic stations and seat yourself. They give you a buzzer and will bring you the food to the table later. We decided to share the BLAT with tempeh bacon, adding fries and also the carbonara flatbread. Both were amazing and not what I was expecting at all. Again, not a vegan but I found these both so filling and savory! I really liked both dishes. It has a lot of unique spices and toppings, making it very savory and not oily at all.
