Drink was pretty good. First time trying truffle fries but I was sold after the first bite! Kudos to jojo, she knows her stuff and for sure knows how to sell anything! Attended a birthday dinner here. The food was as bland as something out of a senior living facility. The service was great - Jamon was awesome and handsome as well . Although, the proteins were cooked to perfection, they lacked flavor and just plain seasoning. The fries were cold by the time they arrived to the table. I'll preface this review with, I frequent saltgrass locations at least once a week. Sat down at 6:03pm on a Saturday. There was no wait. It was slightly less busy than you'd expect on a Saturday night during a dinner rush. I received my drinks at 6:23, after a different server came by and grabbed my drink order. Placed my full order upon first seeing the server, who I have no complaints with. I was sat near the kitchen, so I could see them preparing the food, with no gloves or hairnets. As I watched my appetizer order be made incorrectly, the server corrected the line cook telling him that I ordered "no pico". He took the appetizer back scrapped off the pico and I was brought a half full appetizer with bits of pico remaining in the dish. I dealt with it and thought, whatever no big deal. The salads followed, which were the best part of the meal. The filet mignon came out next, I order it medium. Typically I order medium rare, but I know Saltgrass is always slightly under temperature so it should come out medium rare. The outside had a nice char so I cut into the middle of it to check temp. I'd bet a really good vet could have got that thing to start mooing again. (Not to mention they forgot the plate and the other sauce ordered with the side). Of course I asked for it to be re-fired since it was rare. They obliged. When the steak came back out it was not medium-well. If you disregard the servers buttoning up their tops in front of everyone, and want to get an appetizer voucher for the issues then this is your place. Certainly the worst SG location I've been to. The worst steak I've ever had in my life. I ordered the usual pats ribeye 12 oz medium, and received a dry, well done shriveled up, at best 8 oz steak. So tasteless, didn't even taste like steak nor look like a Ribeye. I politely sent my steak back for being overcooked, to which the waiter confirmed my order, he came back to tell me that the cook agreed on the overcooked part and they would re fire another one within 7 minutes but it took about 10 to 12 minutes (and I know that because my daughter and Dad were done eating. When I finally got my steak, at that point not only were my fries cold (which they cost $4.50 but the sparragus (3.39 extra charge) were so overcooked (the steak was better but not much improved in terms of the taste. My tab was $45 plus tip and I always pay gladly as long as my food is prepared correctly. I only ate half the steak because at that point I wasn't hungry anymore and the manager never showed up to apologize. Here's a picture of half of the steak that proves that my steak was not 12 ounces and this truly was what broke the camels back. I will never come back to this restaurant because this isn't the first time one of us had a disappointing experience! With economy, inflation, and everything else I feel like we've been paying more, but the quality has gone down significantly and that is so disappointing not to mention wrong on so many levels! read more

Glad we came back to this location at the Dallas Parkway in Plano. Dinner was excellent. Pat's ribeye w/Oscar topping and center cut filet with mushroom/onion were both very good. Portions were generous. There was a warm loaf of bread fresh from the oven, and the Caesar salad was truly exceptional - the dressing tasted homemade and with shaved parmesan. Nice choice of 6 oz or 9 oz wine at happy hour pricing. JoJo was a great server, and we will definitely be back. We also enjoyed the atmosphere, quiet enough for conversation. I almost just wanted to eat the steak by itself, because it was so good. Juicy, tender, savory, and decadent. We The sweet tea was perfectly refreshing. We were also served warm bread and butter. We felt safe enough in the venue and we were able to enjoy our meal in this new normal. Hand sanitizer station up front. No sweeteners, or salt & pepper shakers on the table... but they will bring out whatever you need. The manager wore a mask as he walked around to check on us. My family eats here once a week and we enjoy the variety and quality of the menu offerings. The salads are nice and cold, steaks are well prepared, and wait staff are well trained. It can be a little noisy due to the open design that became popular a few decades ago, but that's true of any restaurant created during that time period. read more

August 15th we went to the Salt Grass Restaurant in Plano. JoJo was our server and she was Amazing!!!!! Very tentative and actually introduced herself when coming to our table. This is a great restaurant. I have not been here in years. The service was excellent even though it was Plano west homecoming night. We had a 10 min considering. They offer free WiFi just ask for the password, the waiter said it's kinda slow but works tho. We had the vip card so we got a free appetizer of which I recommend. We ended up doing the fried mushrooms and a few others. Highly recommend this place if you're in the area or just want a nice experience at a steakhouse but not high end tho. read more

I had no expectation of Saltgrass Steak House when I went there. My sister in law really likes the place and we gave her free rein to select the restaurant - so in we went! It was crowded but not packed. For a Friday night, the amount of noise and activity was expected. We were seated in a weird place - kind of in the middle of an entry/traffic pattern to the main grouping of tables and booths. Ok, I did not love that but you don't always get the best seat in the house. There were plenty of tables available in the main dining room (which we could see from our table) so I did not understand their choice for us. There were a fair number of people who came in after us so we did have a lot of people watching available! Our server was friendly and attentive. She had only worked there around 3 weeks so was just learning the menu herself. But she focused attention on us and that was good. It took too much time to get anyone to greet us and get our drinks going - but not too much to complain about. So let's get to the meat of my 2 star review - the food sucked. Maybe I should not have ordered salmon stuffed with crab in a steak house in the middle of North Texas; maybe that is on me for choosing badly BUT MY FOOD SURE WAS BAD. The crab had clearly been frozen and the texture showed it. There was no flavor to it either. I could have skipped the crab stuffing altogether. In fact, about halfway through, I scraped it off and just ate the salmon. The salmon was ok, definitely did not reach the good level. My spouse got a New York Strip and he reports the same quality as my salmon. The meat was not high quality; it was tough and chewy. We ordered brussel sprouts to share and those were the best part of our meal. Bottom line - there is no reason to go to this restaurant. Really. If you want a good steak, then go somewhere else. And if you want good seafood, then definitely skip Saltgrass Steak House. read more

Wow... I was expecting a typical chain steakhouse, but was so impressed with the amazing night we had a saltgrass. I ordered the 9oz filet (Med rare), my husband ordered the strip steak (medium), and my toddlers split the kids meal ribs. Everything was cooked perfectly, the steaks were so tender and even the kids meal ribs were excellent. The only minor feedback I'd give is, the steaks could have used more seasoning (salt). But once we salted our steaks, they were perfect. Our server Consuela was very nice, and gave some good recommendations on the menu. She was attentive without hovering. Even the manager, Danielle, was making the rounds to ensure everyone was having a great meal. We will 100% be going back regularly. read more
