I didn't know about this food hall attached to the new Ikea until a friend who lives nearby recommended it. I thought there would only be the typical Ikea deli and cafeteria. Saluhall is a great addition to the area. The interior is modern and well designed. There are quite a few options for food and drinks and a good amount of seating. Nice ambiance where grabbing a bite with friends is enjoyable and relaxed. I tried both Momo Noodle and Kayma. The Momo Spicy noodle was fairly priced for the portion, and was pretty good. It wasn't as spicy as I would have wanted out of spicy dry stir fried noodles. Flavor otherwise was pretty good, but overall it's toned down ever so slightly to cater to the preferences of everyone. From Kayma, I had the Paradise Bowl. Portion was quite good and the ingredients were nice and balanced. Flavor could also be a little more, but overall, a very filling and solid bowl to get. Great for lunch with nutrients and depth in ingredients. Overall, pretty happy with my experience here. Portions and prices are very reasonable, making it a great option for people in the area to grab a meal. Location is also pretty central as it is just a block or two from Union Square. Hoping it continues to get foot traffic as the area gets revitalized. read more

Stopped by yesterday to shop at IKEAS AND spotted the new Saluhall food court. IKEAs SALUHALL FOOD COURT It's beautiful and maintained absolutely impeccably clean . lots of places to eat , vegan , Mexican , Asian noodles and most importantly there's Casa borinqueña a puerto Rican takeout or eat in spot! Wow. The food is delicious. The prices are incredibly reasonable. I tried the sampler platter but so much more to choose from . if it's your first time experiencing Puerto Rican Caribbean cuisine, the fried tostones (plantain) are my favorite. The arroz con gandules is delicious and the rotisserie chicken on a skewer is the bomb! you gotta stop in everybody. This is a good spot. I'll be back real soon. read more

Went to this new food hall for the first time and they've done a good job transforming the place! Mostly vegetarian options that are healthy and fresh. A bit on the pricey side for a food hall... But what's not pricey nowadays? It's a good option if you're catching a show downtown and don't wanna make a reservation somewhere. I would come back to try more stalls if I'm in the area. read more

What a great and cute lil place! I had seen posts about this but didn't know it was in the same building as the IKEA, until my mom and I finished a bit of shopping. FYI, you do have to finalize your purchases before entering this area. There's multiple floors as others have noted, each with different cuisine options. Momo noodle was calling my name, so I ordered the spicy noods to try and wow it was quite mouth numbing. There's available water in glass pitchers for free, on that floor at the corner of the bar. Plenty of seating and there is staff walking around to clear plates. Strangely enough, it was hard to spot any trash cans or bins, to clear your own. Saluhall is a food court connected to IKEA in downtown SF. Met a couple of friends there for lunch because of its convenience to public transportation for all of us and we plan to meet there again! There were *so* many different offerings, mostly vegetarian/vegan places, but definitely places that serve dishes with meat, too, for those of us who crave it. I ended up with a BLT chicken wrap from the IKEA kiosk and it was pretty good for the price. The only thing that would've made it tastier would be an inclusion of some kind of sauce because, without it, it was a bit on the dry side. My friend ordered the same thing, but she received a packet of ranch dressing with hers. She shared her dressing and it did improve the wrap. This place is great for anyone who wants to gather a group for lunch and is on a limited budget; lots and lots of options as far as food goes and the dining area is huge and clean. Amazing selection. Every place is great and the big open space in the middle is such a great community area. The service is unreal they had a lot of table bus people and people offering water to those sitting down. There was a minor mistake in their 6th day of opening and they comped a desert. Really wide open space and impressive food variety for IKEA Food Hall. Grand opening weekend is very lively and the social media marketing has good reach. There is plenty of seating and even wifi! There are two stories of options. Staff around keeps an eye on the place and it is very well maintained and clean. read more

Saluhall is a fun and centrally located place to gather at all times of the day - from cafe and bakery in the morning to bar in the evening. Food options are multi cultural and plant forward, with meat options to accommodate all diets. It's connected to ikea and their restaurant for a cheaper option. There's even a cooking school in the back. I like coming here to beat the heat or rain. I could come here by myself, with friends, a date, or family. Hope more places in the city will adopt a space like this. read more

The food is expensive and the experience is unpleasant. Theres not many options at all. At counter culture coffee on the first floor the cashier was on his phone texting so when I asked for something he was very put out to get me another cup. Its a ghost town in the mornings and you have to get security to unlock the bathrooms because they don't trust people with a code. I don't see how they can sustain this. There's a real disconnect going on between their corporate food hall fantasy and their true customers. Just go to Smish Smash if you happen to find yourself at Saul Hall. read more

Absolutely awesome addition to a neighborhood that previously didn't have many fast casual options open late (it closes at 10 p.m., woohoo!). This food hall has an amazing mix of vendors with all sorts of cuisines. Order burgers, soups, salads or ice cream. Or, try the various cuisines that include Mexican, Sichuan, Algerian, Indian fusion and Puerto Rican. The atmosphere is bright, lively and well-designed. There's a good mix of seating, including long tables for groups, or bar seating for couples. It's busy without being too crowded. Everything was super clean and well-maintained. Okay, updating my review: they serve the coffee in porcelain now, so you can get the proper FIKA experience. So glad Saluhall is on Market Street - really helping to reactivate Downtown SF. Smörgåsland has become our go-to when we're downtown and it's approaching coffee-o-clock (aka fika time). read more

Yes AND... I visited Smörgasland when it first opened and was impressed--the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. Maybe the opening team was present, but a month later, I came back on a Sunday evening, and the experience didn't measure up. The merguez flatbread was bland, the crust burnt, and the overall quality felt off. Eight months later, the food had improved, but I still noticed an excessive amount of oil on the plate. (Yes, merguez is oily, but this seemed over the top.) My main issue, though, is the service. On a quiet Monday afternoon (3 PM), my order sat ready while the cashier chatted with a manager, oblivious to the bell. If I hadn't been watching the kitchen, who knows how long it would've taken? When I asked for silverware, the cashier simply pointed across the counter for me to grab it myself. For an $18 entrée, this felt dismissive. If self-service is the norm, it should be communicated clearly, or better yet, train staff to offer silverware without prompting. The cashier was friendly, but friendliness doesn't make up for lackluster service at this price point. I suggest revisiting the standards your opening team set--they nailed it the first time. read more

So many options to choose from with two floors of food, drinks, and culture! Easy access to get in either from the street or inside of IKEA. I recommend the spicy noodles with pork and the ice cream on the first floor. WiFi is free and fast with lots of seating on both floors. Security is on point and friendly! I love going to Saluhall! There's 2 floors. I believe there's 2 or 3 bars and local eateries upstairs. A lot of the food they offer is vegan focused BUT there are also meat options. It's super clean inside and noticed that there's a security guard to let people in and out of the bathrooms which I think is a great and smart thing for them to do. There's also a security guard outside or by the entrance. The inside is super modern, clean, and overall nice. It connects to the IKEA as well. It's a great space for people to hang out after work for happy hour or even just a coworking space. I see a bunch of people doing work on their laptops. I've been here several times and so far tried one of the bars, Momo Noodle, and the bakery downstairs. I'll definitely be back more to try out the other places and happy hour. ($5 beers 4-6pm on weekdays). Overall an amazing addition to the Mid-Market area to promote foot traffic. read more

Dude and I ate at Saluhall for the third time tonight, we've tried something different every time. Tonight we both opted for the combo meal from Burgare Bar, located on the first floor. $15 got me a cheezeburger, fries or slaw, and a lemonade or iced tea (there was a third choose but I can't recall what it was.) Service was friendly, and the food was obviously made to order, as it came out toasty! I chose slaw, dude chose fries - both were solid. We were both really blown away by the cheezeburger, neither of us are vegan and it was honestly a solid fast food burger. Finished our visit with vegan ice cream at Snöberg. I had strawberry w/ Oreos, and dude had chocolate with sprinkles. The strawberry had a nice tartness to it, and it was a great end to a lovely meal. I really like Saluhall. It's stylish and big, nice layout. People are friendly, and it just feels comfortable. Anyone complaining about a lack of meat options is delulu, there are so many delicious things to eat that it doesn't even matter. (Previously I enjoyed the "Earthly Eats" bowl from Kayma, which was so good I had a hard time ordering something else this time around. First visit I enjoyed the Momo Spicy Noodles from MoMo Noodles. Great spice/heat and very generous portion.) read more

food hall attached to ikea. sketchy surroundings down the alleyways, be careful. we ended up finding street parking but was a bit difficult. modern, cute interior with variety of food selections, vegan friendly! meat selections were limited - kayma: dajaj paradise bowl, really fresh and had good flavor, just pricey for what you're getting. their baklava was also pretty good - casa borinquena: bori fries: very filling, the yucca fries were very hefty. imitation beef was hard to stay on the fries but nice flavor there as well, may enjoy the imitation chicken more? read more

Popped in for a snack and loved everything I ordered. The oatmilk-based soft serve was delicious and the side of tostones was perfectly snack-sized. The biggest selling point for me was not only was everything clearly labeled for allergens, but they had a wide variety of plant-based, gluten-free, and nut-free options. That is not always the case to find that Venn diagram of food sensitivities! The staff were kind and friendly, too. I will be back every time I come to town. read more

Stopped by IKEA again for the initially surprisingly and now confirmed consistently excellent kale pesto* flatbread, in a surprisingly nice atmosphere. Very civilized service at every counter I've stopped at. *The flatbreads are cheaper than all but the IKEA-branded counter food, and the kale pesto one is even better than the sausage-topped one. read more

SaluHall has laughably bad marketing and I not sure they'll survive, especially since there's no parking. There's no noticeable outdoor signage. I first found it by looking for the IKEA signage. IKEA doesn't promote it. SaluHall's logo is a confusing abstract of an eye, ear, nose and mouth, which has ZERO to show what the business is about i.e. a place to EAT! There are no large photo posters showing people eating. I've been there 3 times and it was at about 1/6 capacity every time. SALUHALL START MARKETING EFFECTIVELY IF YOU WANT YOUR RESTAURANTS TO SURVIVE! read more

Very impressed with Saluhall...so many great vegan options in a 2 level spacious & welcoming food hall. I opted for the incredible vegan Puerto Rican food at Casa Borinqueña (on the second floor). I tried the sampler plate with chikn skewers & a pastelillo...so good & very filling. I can't wait to get a chance to try everything on the menu! This place is such a gem! I was surprised it was so empty on a Friday at lunchtime. The options are plentiful - Algerian, Asian noodles, Puerto Rican, burgers, Mexican, Indian, and more. A pleasant surprise is that most of the food is vegetarian/vegan! I tried the vegan mofongo which was super yummy, and the "chicken" sandwich which tasted just like chicken. Ended the meal with soft serve from downstairs - note the portions for ice cream are pretty big so you might want to share. The seating area is very nicely designed and aesthetic to look at, and staff are very friendly. I can't wait to come back with friends and try the rest of the options! read more

So I checked this place out with a friend to help support businesses with revitalizing downtown SF. I was impressed with the overall chilled, yet fun vibe. The food is primarily vegetarian but was surprisingly yummy and satisfying (no judgement I am just an omnivore who tends to be still hungry after a veggie meal). What I will rave about is the drinks. The beer on tap is Four Point which fun to try the different types. And the cocktails are delicious (seriously). And last but not least are the staff service who are so nice and welcoming. I went back twice in one week. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Absolutely loved the food hall! This two floor food hall is "80%" plant based and 100% delicious. Also it's beautiful inside. Came on a Tuesday and it was pretty slow, but one of the workers said it's busy Wednesday-Sunday. Fortunately we were able to try a bunch of things from different restaurants! Got the Al Pastor Tostada from La Veganza - I recommend all their mushroom based meats the texture is unreal! The best thing we had was the momo raindrop rosé from Momo noodle - it's a clear jelly and I've never had anything like it but wow! So yummy! Also make sure you try the soft serve on the first floor! They give you free toppings! And have a vegan and non Vegan option. The one issue is parking - I recommend taking public transportation to get there. read more

This is regarding my most recent experience. The security here are doing the most. I came with an outside drink and was told by security I couldn't enter. This was annoying but I complied and drank my beverage outside before coming back. Afterwards, my friends met me and we ordered coffee drinks downstairs and brought it upstairs as they ordered food upstairs. A separate security person approached us regarding our drinks like we were criminals and asked if those were outside beverages. We responded that we purchased them downstairs and they walked away. Later, my friend put her leftover food from Curry Up Now in her own tupperware and this same security person said no outside food to her. Okay this is borderline harassment when we all purchased items in Saluhall. I would say be mindful next time you go here cause this seems to be a thing now where you can't just relax without being sweated where all your food and drink items are from. What if someone has a medical condition or needs to drink/eat an outside item for like their low blood sugar or feed their baby. Are they going to kick out a mother for an outside bottle? The hell with this place. I went to go and buy udon and they told me they don't accept cash! this is a city ordinance violation not to mention very lacking for a company.
