How this place has a 3 star overall is strange. We had a large party here. They were accommodating and helpful. We started with pizzas, the margherita as well as the truffle pizzas. Both were excellent, neoploitan style. We also had fried calamari. Perfect. Lightly battered, fresh and delicious. Bruschetta was good. Pinot grigio and some Chardonnay for the table were a hit. For mains we had the spaghetti alla vongole. Very good. Baby clams, very fresh. Pasta was perfectly al dente. Loved it. Rigatoni with meat ragu was great. Polpettes as a side were also very tasty. As someone who used to work in the service industry I try not to overjudge, but besides the receptionist the service was really disappointing. It took us way too long to get water, a drink, order, and the check. When greeted by our server it was just "what do you want". Not accommodating at all. Then, I left my card to pay the bill and when I walked away they had my date pay the bill w my card instead of just waiting. Really just bizarre stuff. The food was actually really good. Not bad for a chain restaurant - would give 3.5 stars. The ambience upstairs is far nicer and the layout makes the restaurant feel more spacious. The apps were ok - the buffalo mozzarella was good, however the tomatoes were lackluster and would have liked more basil. The calamari was just ok & the sauce made the dish. The eggplant "noodle" seafood lasagna was good, however, the two of us who ate it were nauseous the next day. The tagliolini al tartufo was pretty good. I stumbled on this place and was greatly helped by Leticia, who had the restaurant create for me the softest crust Margherita pizza so I could eat it even after having had oral surgery. Delicious. The lobster ravioli is yummy, crave-able. I prefer it without the crispy chopped carrots, just naked lobster ravioli with that extraordinary sauce. It's truly amazing. I also loved their tuna crudo. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, there are two levels to the restaurant and all kinds of nooks where you could have a party. I think the thing that got me going back over and over again was Leticia combined with the good food. Leticia makes every guest feel important. She's a gift to this establishment. When you feel cared about at a restaurant, when you feel remembered, when you feel someone gets your situation and wants to help out, that's where you want to go and Serafina's is all that because of Leticia. This is not like the regular Serafinas. I'm not entirely sure the difference, but Serafina Always gives odd a much more casual vibe. I went on Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and had a less-than-pleasant experience. There were children running all around; staff was congregated so close to our table and talking/gossiping that it was beyond distracting; the wine was sour to where we had to decline our bottle; and the food was average. We wanted to split the meatballs, brussel sprouts salad, and penne vodka. The waiter had clearly forgotten the two starters because they came with our pasta and we asked to begin with our appetizers (duh). The waiter came over and "confirmed" what we had gotten. The meatballs were incredibly over cooked, but the penne and brussel sprouts salad were very good. I gave them two stars because of the countless server errors and the fact that the ambiance was not pleasant. The tables are so close together that you can whisper and the people next to you can hear you. And the staff congregating in a large huddle a few feet away from us and were so loud that we couldn't even hear the music was more than annoying. Went here with my family to celebrate my sisters birthday. It wasn't crazy busy, but it seemed to take a long long time for anyone to come over and ask us if we wanted any drinks, and an equally long time for us to order our food. The food itself was rather yummy. However, the evening was marred by how long it was taking. I understand that there are labor shortages right now, so I try to be patient. In this circumstance though, we saw a group of waitstaff huddled around and talking, it didn't seem to be urgent or anything. Finally, after we asked for our check (skipped dessert because we didn't have all night), they realized that we had mentioned birthday on our reservation, so they did bring over a little tiramisu and a candle, which was nice. If you love pasta, look no further! It's a nice Italian restaurant just a short walk from Central Park. My go to dish here is Tris of Sofia that has 3 kinds of pasta; fettuccini, ravioli and gnocchi. The one downside here is you need to have a minimum order of 2 plates of this for them to make it. So if you're dining alone, you have some convincing to do. It is most definitely worth it though. Let's talk about the different elements of this dish now: - Al dente fettuccini with a rich cheese and tomato bisque. It's a quarter serving of pure joy. - The spinach gnocchi are little soft and fluffy puffs. - The butter sage raviolis are soft pillows with a delicious filling. The butter sage sauce around it will have you reaching for bread to wipe off the rest of the plate. All in all, you can't go wrong here. Around 12pm on a Friday, Serafina Always was starting to fill up with the lunchtime corporate crowd so it was lively and nice inside, just as I expected. I had been looking forward to ordering my favorite Serafina Chicken Salad. Last time I had it was two years ago at the White Plains location and it was huge, filling, and delicious. Here, I got a plate of leaves and a few measly pieces of chicken on a plate. Where was the big salad?! Where was the meat?! You could barely even taste the pesto dressing! SAD SAD SAD! I went here for some drinks and appetizers the other day and I really had a great time. This place has an interesting layout and designed really nicely. I found this place very comfortable plus they have a great mix of people. We went there earlier in the week and it was pretty busy. Everyone from the hostess to the wait staff were great. We were seated right away we opted for a seat at the bar. They have a full bar, Marta was our bartender and she was great. I was not sure what I wanted to drink. I really wanted a ginger martini, but it wasn't on the menu so I asked her to recommend something for me. She was really knowledgeable and went through the questioning of do I want sweet, sour etc. After I told her what I wanted she recommended the Naked Martini and it was quite unique it was tangy, not to sweet, but it really hit the spot taste wise, something I have never had before. I started with their Crostini Di Sofia which comes 3 in an order and its fresh melted buffalo mozzarella cheese with prosciutto over crunchy sliced grilled Italian bread topped off with some olive oil. For the next item we ordered a pizza which was almost the same as what we had as an appetizer, fresh buffalo mozzarella cheese pizza topped with prosciutto with capers on the side. It was all really delicious and I would do that again but they really have a great menu and there are so many other dishes I want to try. When we tried to give the manager feedback he responded immediately with a level of aggression I have not experienced in decades of living in NYC, or frankly anywhere. The attitude started the moment we walked in the door when he told the hostess not to give our party of 5 the appropriate size table (with reservation and first diners there upon opening) and snapped when she offered us water while we waited to be seated due to a delay. Not My Serafina. So long old friend. I have been dining here for nine years since my son started preschool. We used to love a post school lunch with the great kids menu and crayons coupled with good adult food to create a perfect balance. On this occasion, made an Open Table reservation and was treated with disdain by the hostess. Told outdoor tables were first come, first serve. Since we had young kids we decided to wait as a table of one seated at a table for four was finishing (we were told by waiter). The hostess told us we would be next to be seated outside. We turned to say hi to friends passing by on the street and turned back to see the table had been given to three women who were not there waiting before us. We approached the hostess who proceeded to tell us they had "reserved it". I told her that she had said outside was first come, first serve. And she had the audacity to say "they were allowed to reserve". We were then tired and the kids were starving so we said we'd go indoors. She proceeded to bypass an empty table by the window telling us the only availability was upstairs. She then sat us upstairs where no one was seated. We sat for 10 mins with no menus, waters or anything. The kids ask if they could go downstairs to inquire for menus and drinks. Instead of a waiter, the hostess returned saying "What do you need now?" We responded menus, drinks, and a waiter. She said "Oh." Ten more minutes we ordered drinks. Definitely becoming a Serafina Don't! Serafina should go back to old and friendly ways or locals will start going elsewhere!
