Stop referring to this place as "the old blue bamboo". Please. Even my waiter did it, very awkward. The food is better, and the service is pretty good. Don't really want to hear your loud ass talk at full volume in the dining room, but that's my only complaint. (Banter is a very necessary part of foodservice, but shutup if customers can hear you). Everything was fresh, the place stays busy *always*, and never once have they screwed up my order. The pho with seafood, bun thit nuong, and the Tom yum soup are really good, I need to try more stuff, but I can only eat so much. (The older bad reviews are for a previous owner.) I LOVE this place!!!! Large portions, great wait staff, they have board games for the kiddos too. My favorite dish is the Green Curry Soup, it is SO spicy and sweet with coconut milk. My other favorites are Orange chicken, General Tso chicken, and the cream cheese wontons. All 4 of my children love the children lo mein noodles with shrimp or chicken. It has a bar, but we do not use it. It has sports on huge flat screens, but they are not bothersome. I ordered take out lunch today for a co-worker and myself. We were both craving Vietnamese and its the closest spot in the area. Went to pick it up and paid separately for each order. I overpaid for one order by $10 which is completely my fault BUT it wasn't brought to my attention. It wasn't until the guy helping me said "I'm going to have to run to the back to run your credit card" that I had time to realize what had happened. When he returned I told him that I had given him more money than needed and he said "Oh yes" and pulled out HIS WALLET and gave me the rest of my money back. THEN, he charged my credit card right in front of me. What did he go to the back for? Seemed a little shady to me and I'll be keeping an eye on my bank account. Did he think that I was giving him a $10 tip? Makes me wonder if everyone who works there is as dishonest as he is? After all that, I brought the food back to the office...and it was the wrong order! I tried to call but since the line was busy, I just went back over. To top it off, the food wasn't good at all. The vermicelli bowl had very little meat and I wouldn't call those noodles vermicelli. Very good Thai food - easily best in Lakeway catchment area. Good service, reasonable prices and very consistent. Good vegetarian options. Salt and pepper tofu starter excellent. You can even play ukulele at your table. read more

Placed a to go order at 1:08pm and was told it would be ready in 20 minutes. Showed up to pick up and the service was all over the place. Took another 30 minutes of waiting before my food was ready. In the mean time, multiple people had shown up, ordered and eaten, then left before I got my food. I have eaten in this restaurant. It looks nice and clean. Service is slow. You will have to wait for few minutes if you run out of your drinks to get a refill. I ordered Beef fried rice which was really dry. The portion of the meals are small yet little pricey. Spoke to the waitress but not even an apology. Will try other restaurants. read more

The food is legit. Great taste, portions, and selection. They consistently struggle with service - always very slow. They have a sign up for help wanted so I think they know they need to bus, seat, and take orders faster. The food always tastes great but sometimes you get a surprise dish that is great but slightly different from what you want. read more

We were talking today saying how we wished there was a great Chinese restaurant in Bee Cave. Then, it dawned on us we hadn't tried Simply Pho House yet. Wow! The food was delicious! We started with Chicken Spring Rolls. Loved those with the yummy peanut sauce. Our family shared the Spicy Chicken Vermicelli, the Wok On Fire Lo Mein and Chicken Pho Soup Bowl. Everything was incredibly fresh and flavorful. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and the food came out lickety split. As for the atmosphere, it's very family friendly. Bright lights and TVs, but what we were expecting. The prices were excellent. Our only recommendation to the restaurant would be to put a few other wines on the menu but that won't stop us from returning VERY soon. read more

One of my favorite restaurants in Beecave. Every time I go in I am instantly greeted and seated always give me my choice of booth or table. The staff is very welcoming and friendly. The owner takes time to go around to tables to see if everything is perfect and if not will gladly accommodate to what you need. Pho is phenomenal comes out very warm and tastes amazing. Love that this place is a restaurant and tea bar in case you just want a tea but don't want to actually sit down and have a meal but I must say The boba tea is great and the only place to find in Beecave. Simply pho has a great eating environment and great service , the pho soup combination soup was one of the worst soups I've had in my life and you could easily tell that the meatballs are frozen . I would not recommend that soup . Other then that I've eaten there serval other occasions and have a zero problems with the food. read more

12/23/16 second terrible experience. walked in trying to place a to go order, pregnant waitress did not feel like serving me. she was too busy arguing with a busboy to get another customers order. i stood at the doorway for several minutes before being spoken to by staff. (place was not busy) after placing order, had to beg same employee for silverware and napkins and condiments. stay away, spend your money elsewhere. terrible customer service awaiting a "bs" fluff response from the owner below....i wish there was another pho place in town so this one could go out of business. read more

Today I went there with my family, they had clearly mentioned vegetarian in the menu, there were 4 items, we asked 3 items out of the four, the waiter took the order and then the waiter came back and told us that all the vegetarian items have we asked had meat or seafood based. I am not sure why they put vegetarian when they don't know what it means, on top of this they told us that they have used shell and oysters in the preparation. This is the last time I will visit and also let my friends know know not to be deceived by the word vegetarian in the menu. Overall very bad experience... I wish we can have black stars and gold stars to indicate how bad they are these guys take 5 black stars as they don't understand by being this dishonest in publishing about what they make, they may be playing with people's life if they are allergic to any of their ingredients. read more

The Chicken Vermicelli is excellent! And we can't leave there without a couple of orders of the Shrimp Spring Rolls. My only qualm is that the shrimp is cut vertically and placed in the wraps. So instead of the two shrimp you think you're getting, it's really only one. But for the price I'll let it slide. I've never tried anything there that I didn't like. Is there a half star cause this place deserves it big time. We show up all excited to try this food. We waited for 30 minutes and never even got a drink. We asked for a drink to have someone say "hold on please I am busy." The phone rang non stop with the same person calling and they just stared at it and did nothing. There where angry people waiting to be severed. This place was also very poorly decorated. I think I would rather go over to HEB and buy some soup. We ended up leaving and going to Maudie's. Never ate. Walked in, was greeted and seated. Waited five minutes in 68 degree temperature. Waiter, a tall foul mouthed blonde guy came over to the table finally. My wife asked if he could warm it up and he went into a spill on how hot he was. I stated it was all about him then which he obviously took exception to. He took my wife's drink order and told me I took to long to answer so nothing for me. I voted with my feet on this one and we left which is probably what he wanted anyway. I will never set foot in that place again. Just horrible an owner can actually hire someone like that and turn them loose on customers. Was driving around the bee caves shopping area and had a sudden craving for Pho. We were greeted and seated at a table, and that's where the story basically ends. We were not offered water, menu, or acknowledged after walking into the establishment. We saw other guest walking in and getting their menus with a ice cold glass of water. Maybe we died that day and walked in as ghosts and that's why no one saw us. We got up and walked out and I'm glad the establishment did not get any of my business. I didn't get to taste the food so I can't say it's the worst, but hospitality is horrible . read more

OK...let me first preface that we have been regular patrons of Pho for several years now and know the owner (Sunny), and the manager (Nick) and we enjoy the food and the fact that they always modify all our dishes how we want them and most of the servers even know what our modifcations are; however if your hours are 11:00am to 9:00PM--that's 9:00PM!!! You should be able to walk in at 8:59PM and be served! My wife and I both work very hard and usually do not eat until late unfortunately...we have frequented the restaurant many times rushing to get there by 8:45PM so we are not too late. We went the other night and arrived at 8:40PM, and was told we need to order to go!!! Really! Hours again are 11:00AM to 9:00PM...in my world that says you should be able to walk in at 8:59PM and be seated and be served...again we "were" regulars, but no longer! We are now boycotting because of that lack of loyalty to regular well paying customers to be treated like we were first timers! Really! Does this piss anybody else off?? read more

We came for the Pho a few times and have a hard time returning because of the poor service - which has been pretty consistent. Even tonight we ordered to go... first they lost the order and said wait another 30 minutes.... 30 minutes and no food, and they have no idea where it is. So disappointed because we are big Pho fans.... I hope at some point this place can get it together. read more

Wife and I decided to stop in there on Valentines Day because we were both dying for some good Pho and it had been a couple years since we'd been here. Got there at about 7:30. The meager sampling of bean sprouts were turning brown and the basil and cilantro were wilted and limp. We did start off with spring rolls. I ordered one pork and one shrimp. I thought they were OK, especially the pork roll. My wife thought the rolls were packed with way to many noodles and too little other stuff. The pho broth was actually pretty good. Overall, I liked the food but look for a good crisp pile of sprouts and basil with my pho. This was a little disappointing but not terrible. There are better rated pho restaurants in the area, we chose this one because only 2 miles from home in Bee Cave. Will try for stellar pho next time. read more

To start, the makeover IS nice, however, that is about all that I have to say that is positive. The staff appears to be young and inexperienced, but they are very polite.'The food and the incomplete item descriptions on the menu were the biggest problems. My children and I are vegetarians. We also avoid ANY fish. After asking the server many questions about the menu (which he didn't know the answers to) we finally placed an order. We were initially told that they still carried some of the same items as Blue Bamboo, but that the new chef had "upgraded" the recipes. Those "upgrades" apparently include OYSTER sauce in ALL of the vegetarian (veggie section on the menu) dishes. We were told by the "chef" that they didn't actually have any sauces that were truly vegetarian, and that maybe in a month or so they would have some. The fried tofu is soaked in CHICKEN broth (not listed on the menu) before it is fried. It would have been nice to know that BEFORE my daughter tossed a piece in her mouth. I am sure that someone without dietary restrictions will be able to have a decent meal here, however, if you are a vegetarian or have food allergies, I would really be careful. The menu is misleading and leaves out key details. The waitstaff is young and inexperienced and really doesn't seem to know what is actually in the food, and the kitchen staff doesn't seem able to figure out why it's a problem for oyster sauce and chicken broth to not be listed as ingredients on the menu. They were polite when we explained we would be leaving. They seem willing to change some things, but I don't think we will be back. Good Luck! read more
