An India-focused grocery store with excellent pantry items and a budget-friendly cooked foods section. The decor is sparse, and the value is in your face, wonderful. You can find almost every spice you need for Indian Cuisine. From whole spices to packaged, portioned ground spices, the selection is excellent. The space is crowded, and it feels authentic. The hidden gem is the cooked foods counter. Spaced and set like a cafeteria, the hot foods under the sneeze guards and hot lamps keep all the foods ready to serve and eat. It is no-nonsense. The variety and selection are ample. Best of all, the value is reasonable. The small parking lot is located on the west side of the building. Otherwise, street parking is metered.

I was happy with combo #2. It was just enough food and a good variety with 2 curries, rice, samosa, bread, and I like that they also threw in some fresh salad to balance everything out. And all for $9 at the time of writing this so definitely a good value! I got paneer with green peas, and the veggie balls - both were great. One thing to note though, all their choices are vegetarian. The store is also nice, but some items are priced higher than elsewhere. They do, obviously, cary a lot of items you can't find in a non Indian store. One thing I really don't like about the store is that many items have no price tags so it's a guessing game - you want to pick up something, could be $2 or $12, you just never know.

We decided to try this spot out after a tiktok about it came across our fyp. We heard they had a great deal on hot food and with an Indian grocery attached we knew it was a place we had to check out. The restaurant side is straightforward, the hot food on display, steaming and ready to be served. Next to it a bakery case full of sweets of various shapes, colors and textures. Surrounding us were various religious figures from India and some canned coconut milk on sale, buy one get one free. We ordered a #2 Combo with Chana Masala and Dal. Plus two small chai. A heads up, this spot is all vegetarian and vegan, which I didn't mind but don't come here expecting Chicken Tikka or Lamb Vindaloo. It came with basmati rice, salad, yogurt sauce, pickle, samosa and warm roti. The Chana and the Dal had lovely spice without being overwhelming in heat. Nothing spectacular but an overall solid meal. The salad was a mix of cabbage and red onion, crisp and cool to balance the dish. The samosa was room temperature and I wish it was served hot like the rest of the food. The sauces served with it were flavorsome, a sweet tamarind and a tangy green sauce. The chai had a nice slight spiciness to it. A good way to take off the chill of this cool LA evening. After eating, we explored the grocery. Aisle after aisle was a discovery of spices, incense and pantry goods. They offered an interesting selection of hard to find specialty beverages and produce. The store was packed with items but still managed to be clean and organized. I took the opportunity to snag some Cadbury bars you don't see in the US that often. Finally, we swung back by the sweets counter on our way out and got a mix. Everything was quite pleasing and the different textures was a joy to experience. This spot is one of a few locations, but it feels like a hidden gem in the neighborhood. Bright murals paint the sides to draw attention as you walk by. Humble interior, good food, good portions and good people. Would definitely come back if I lived nearby.

    Great price for lunch!

I had a lot of fun here with the family today. We are trying out making more Indian food at home and wanted to come here for the expansive choices of spices. We went aisle by aisle and looked at all the different brands and foods they offered. There was even an aisle for flour and we are big on baking and got a new pasta maker, so we were exited to see various brands of rice flour and multi grain flour. We ended up getting spices, flour, curry paste, tomato paste, cheese and frozen food. The key ingredients we needed that is not readily available at a regular grocery store. On the way out we did want to try some food. We just wanted samosas, but we ended up also getting a combo #1 curry that includes two curries and rice. My 14th month old is a very picky eater, but he ate a whole samosa for the first time! The chutnies that came with the samosas were the highlight for me. Very flavorful. Nice kick. For the combo we got the Dal and the Peas and Cheese curry. The price for the combos are very reasonable for a complete meal. Good to mention that the food is vegetarian. Parking: they have their own parking lot and there is ample meter parking on the street

I don't know about you, but this is by far the worst South Indian food I've ever eaten. That's not how coconut chutney should look, and the sambar was like drinking tomato soup--complete miss. The masala dosa shouldn't look like that; it should be filled with mashed potatoes sautéed with onions, curry leaves, mustard seeds, turmeric powder, chili powder garam masala and the list goes on. The idli--if you threw them on the floor, it would probably hurt someone. Idli should be soft and pillowy.. sigh. And lastly, the vadai... it's like you're cutting corners on the actual ingredients to save money. It's a hard NO for me. Again, as a Tamil South Indian, we do not cook food this way. That lady that prepared the mean was nice. Place looks like a typical Indian food stall will not come back for the food but for the sweets only.

I felt like a vegetarian meal, so I ended up at India Sweets & Spices: it's half grocery market and food stall cafe (cafeteria like). The pre-made food is mainly ALL VEGETARIAN/VEGAN items. Lots to choose from; a combo meal is a good option to start with or ask for recommendations. The menu is broken down by Northern/Southern Indian regional specialties: offered as Combos, Snacks, and Desserts/Drinks. You order at the counter then find a seat. No frills type place. Friendly environment. There's parking on the premises; however, it's a little tight during peak lunch/dinner rush. You can park on the side streets. Credit Cards are accepted.

India Sweets & Spices is really a special type of Indian grocery store. While you will find typical spices, vegetables and prepared food, there's so much more. Located on Los Feliz, look for the Folk Art depiction of the many-armed goddess, Lady Durga. Inside, as said, you have a grocery store for nearly all your South Asian cooking needs. But then, if you take a right, you find a large cafeteria. Now, at first glance, the cafeteria doesn't look particularly special. This is definitely NOT an Indian restaurant. The tables are very simple and the walls are pretty plain. And there's no waitstaff. The food, however...now that's a different story. For under ten dollars you can get a HUGE tray of Indian vegetarian food. You can get one or two curries, rice, bread (like naan or chapati), sauces, pickle and dessert. And the food is very tasty. I've never been able to finish everything on my tray, even when I was famished. I suggest checking out both the store and the cafeteria during the same visit as its fun to check out the ingredients, but also the housewares, religious paraphernalia, henna and beauty supplies used by the local South Asian community. Definitely recommend.

Out server Emily was a delight. So friendly and accommodating (and thanks again for the Baklava!) We had the lamb shwarma plate and the fried chicken plate, both with hummus. Also a side of the Za'atar/sumac fries. Fries came out first PIPING hot, crispy, seasoned perfectly nom nom. The entrees quickly followed. The lamb was so tender and juicy and bursting with flavor. And the fried chicken was AMAZING. Shwarma that is breaded with an amazing mixture and fried. Genius! The plates also came with hummus topped with whole chickpeas (YUM), dilled rice, a cabbage salad and other greens, grilled pita bread, olives and my personal favorite, pickled radishes. Many reviews describe them as beets (which I also love) but these are radishes and they pair so well with the rich meat. An umami bomb! Portions HUGE (we have a full meal waiting in the fridge) and prices very reasonable. Patio is a very fun hang with pretty lights. My only knock is on the chairs which are not exactly "comfy." But that's a trivial issue. Service was attentive and staff so friendly and helpful. I can't remember Emily's colleague's name but shout out to her and her Rasputin's shirt (yay Berkeley vibes.) She was great. We will definitely be back at Dune soon!

Could be because it was Sunday and there was a Farmers Market nearby, but still something to consider. We ordered the Lamb Plate ($26). Portion was solid and the plate is actually pretty interesting -- lots of different sides (flatbread, greens, olives, pickled turnips, etc.), so it doesn't feel boring. That said, the lamb itself was just a few small pieces and it was ground. I would've preferred more actual meat Tried the rosemary lemonade too, but didn't really taste any rosemary. Just a regular lemonade, slightly sweet and sour. Also you pay upfront right after ordering. We sat outside on a small patio facing Glendale Blvd. It's a tight space, and at one point someone from the street was walking around nearby talking to themselves, which made the experience a bit less comfortable. Staff was friendly and service was quick though, no issues there. Also, no public restroom, so keep that in mind. Overall, not bad. I was hungry, so I finished everything pretty fast, but it didn't really stand out enough for me to make a special trip again.

The wings were good, the pineapple fried rice. They have a Thai, Alfredo pasta dish which was different but my family really like it, especially the kids. Nice regular drink and beer and wine, good deal on the drinks. Overall a good experience, i think a little overpriced for the portion size, but still tasty food. I have been to Momed a few times; this is my first review for the location. We came on a Sunday for brunch; our hostess sat us quickly in the surprisingly bare restaurant with several families filling the airy patio. The restaurant is remarkably open, family, and dog-friendly, with lots of space to wander. Welcoming us at the entrance was the chef's dog, Marshmallow, who sported a fluffy white coat and welcomed many pets and ear scratches. 5/5 service, Marshmallow! On seating we received a delicious appetizer gratis - a layered, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside bread with soft herbed butter and a raspberry sauce - which was delicious. Following was the Whipped Feta ($22) - a light, airy spreadable cheese elevated with sweet honey and cut by tart, blistered cherry tomatoes, served alongside home baked pita bread with a eminently fluffy interior. The curious patron can see the bread being freshly baked in a large open oven by the entrance. Following I had the Shakshuka ($25), a delectable dish of tart tomatoes and herbaceous red peppers, moderated by creamy feta and two rich, poached eggs, fresh from the oven in a cast iron skillet. As a typical carnivore who normally shies away from dishes featuring vegetables, I was surprised by how much I loved this; as a uniquely Maghrebi dish that's hard to find, I highly recommend anyone visiting Momed try the Shakshuka. My spouse got the Cleopatra salad ($23) which she is still raving about many hours later. Perfectly selected pieces of crisp butterleaf lettuce, sweet dates, creamy feta, crossed with crispy dukkah and a tarte sherry vinaigrette, all taste buds were engaged for a perfect salad. We concluded by sharing a chocolate mousse with whipped cream and vanilla ice cream ($14) which was as good as it sounds. The service was friendly and warm, with our waiter stopping by frequently to refill our waters on the blisteringly hot day, and accommodating our group's thirsty dog. Special credit should be given to Momed for maximizing the space they were working with. While situated in a flat neighborhood adjacent to light industry, complete with railroad tracks behind the restaurant, the interior is more Riad - a courtyard garden - with countless plants, lots of shade, and wicker furniture reminiscent of tropical plants and palms. Prices, above, are a little elevated but reasonable for the quality of the food provided. The Moroccan word for Paradise is "Al-Janna", which directly translates as "the Garden". By elevating the most modest parts of the garden - tomatoes, pepper, cheese, and bread - Momed offers unique, delectable food worthy of a garden paradise, and has my highest recommendation. As 2 vegetarians and 1 vegan, we had never seen such an extensive plant based option with not only vegan cheeses but meat substitutes with protein! No wonder they have been ranked #1 for multiple years. The starter bread came in a brown bag and was soft and delicious, especially with the house pesto. You could really taste the basil but it didnt feel too oily. We got the calamari because none of us have ever seen a vegan one on a menu! It was breaded and fried and had a squishy center made of pea protein that I guess simulates the real one? It came with a marinara dipping sauce. I could obly have a few because they were fried and I felt like they were a bit too salty Next the pastas came out - the Pistachio pesto and the fusili with sausage. Both were delicious. The pesto sauce was the same one we had with the bread but the pasta had Pistachio chunks in it as well and generous amounts of pesto. The sausage was chewy and the sauce must've had either the same seasoning or chunks of it blended in because you could taste the same flavor in that as well! We had hopes of trying dessert but these 3 dishes were a perfect size for our party and we had been starving ourselves for most of the day for this (probably due to all the protein included in a usually carb only meal). The service was prompt, dishes came out quickly, and water was always filled. I am looking forward to returning to try all the other dishes!

A meal with intention, respect to tradition, warmth and refinement and nothing unnecessary or…read moreextraneous!!! I am in love with this restaurant and I can't wait to go back. S/O and I shared the vegan combo and dereq tibs, a pitcher of their infused water, an Ethiopian cream coffee, and a glass of palm tree (their arnold palmer). The food was fantastic. I loved every bite we had, especially the gomen (braised greens), cabbage and carrot, and the kik alicha. The dereq tibs, though? That was AMAZING. Tender beef, sweet stewed onion, the perfect amount of spice from the serranos. I loved that the dish is accompanied by senafich (a spicy, horseradish-y mustard) and mitmita (a DELICIOUS chili powder that I want to put on everything lol). The beverages were delicious, I love an arnold palmer and this one is probably the best i've ever had with their spiced tea. Their coffee was decadent and strong and perfectly balanced. And the banana split! I am not usually one for dessert but I knew I needed to try this and I'm SO glad I did. A symphony of textures and complex flavors. We may or may not have used our fingers to get the last bits from the dish. The place itself is like a little oasis from the hustle and bustle of the strip mall outside. Vibey music, beautiful furniture and decor, and all attention paid to the little details. Can't wait for them to reopen so we can come back!! Parking - strip mall was crowded, but street parking wasn't too bad to find.

My first time having Ethiopian food, and it was fantastic!…read more We ordered the vegan combo, doro wat, and beef awaze tibs. The vegan combo came with a bunch of flavorful things like stewed red lentils, stewed yellow split peas, Ethiopian salad, et cetera. I'm not vegan, but I would have been more than satisfied with just the vegan combo as it was delicious and filling. The doro wat - spicy braised chicken with a hard-boiled egg - was tender and tasty. I thought the beef dish was even better. The beef pieces practically melted in my mouth. And everything went great with the injera, which had a spongy texture that I found absolutely pleasing. The service was also wonderful. Before our meal, our server performed a hand-washing ceremony with rose water. And after we finished eating, we were presented with wet towels to clean our hands. Throughout lunch, our server kept our glasses of water filled. This place is a small intimate spot with very few tables, so reservations are strongly recommended.

Spacious/clean, easy parking, individual pots, fresh meat/ingredients, and a wonderful staff all make this worth coming back to again and again. Slightly different costs/portion sizes between lunch and dinner- what is 'large' for lunch is 'regular' for dinner (5.5oz) and works out to about 11 large slices. You get your choice of two dipping sauces (it's nice to see two other offerings besides standard ponzu and goma) and you can make the broth to your tasting with two squeeze bottles at each station (staff was also kind to help me the first time). Purple rice here is a nice, different touch. And both beef choices are great ($5 difference between prime chuck roll and the more premium prime rib eye) So tasty. I can see myself becoming a regular here for sure.

Which was actually perfect and I'm a pretty small girl, I can't imagine having any less than that. It comes with a plate of vegetables and your choice of udon or ramen. You get to choose two sauces and the sauces are refillable. So if you're going with someone else and you want more dips. Then you can both get four different ones to share. They offer a sampler when you first sit down of all the sauces so you can try them. You make your own soup and they give you different bases to make your soup to your liking. The seating area is pretty cool as it feels like a giant bar and everyone gets their individual pot. Service was good, everyone was very friendly and attentive.
