My friends live close to Naples so we headed over here for a quick lunch before moving on with our day. Sushi on Fire is your typical sushi bar with bar seating and table dining. The soft drink cups are extra large so you probably won't need a refill. We both ordered rolls not realizing how big they were. I think it would have been safe to have shared one but we had ordered two and tried in vain to finish them. It was so much food. It's a good thing we skipped the miso soup. The food was good and for the two of us, lunch was about $34 total. Not too shabby. We sat at the bar and service was great. We arrived shortly after 12:30 pm and there was no wait. They have a huge menu and would satisfy any picky eater. They take credit cards. read more

I've been to the Belmont Shores and Huntington Beach locations and although the HB location is a bit more spacious, I prefer the Belmont shores location. I'm so jealous of people who live in Belmont Shores and get to call Sushi On Fire their "local" sushi place and they get to pick up their take out from here. The menu always trips me up because they have pictures of some items and so I feel like we favor the items we can see pictures of. We try and order 2-3 rolls we haven't tried each time and no matter what we try everything is delicious. I think my favorite roll is the refreshing roll. I've tried maybe a quarter of their menu and everything is awesome! read more

This spot is our fsvorite sushi joint. We came here looking for a spicy salmon with avocado / chili oil roll and we were not disappointed. The 911 roll comes with spicy tuna - but I always request spicy salmon instead and this is my go to roll! We start with some spicy edamame, then have our miso soup. When our rolls arrive we order another because we take it down so fast. The chefs always recognize is when we come in and they probably hate that we order the same stuff but who cares. The best! When I crave sushi this is my go to place! I've tried most everything on the menu and all of them were delicious and staff are super friendly. They also have the best fried rice I've ever had (I eat fried rice a lot) I get the shrimp fried rice and it's freaking amazing seriously and the green spicy sauce (I think it's cilantro don't quote me) is everything!! Tried sushi on fire for the first time and we were happy w our choices. Tasted yummy and hit the spot. We got the #3 bento and the Ken's special roll ( I wanted to lick the plate it was that yummy!) and so I did but w my finger lol. We loved it all. Even my 3 yo loved the salmon and asked for more. We were in town a day early for our cruise and wanted something not touristy. We walked right in and was seating right away. I liked that we filled in our order on a sheet. Since I've stalked your Yelp pictures I knew we had to get the Four Corner. Omg it was good! Our 10 year old wouldn't share the tuna and hopes to find a place locally that sells it. Everything we had was good. I can't remember each roll we had but they were good. The rolls were a good size with great price points. As I was waiting to pay for my order I watched an unmasked employee touch his face and then continue to pack sushi into to-go containers. What I asked the woman taking my order why he wasn't wearing a mask, she halfheartedly shouted at him to cover his face, but he only covered his mouth and not his nose. When I went back to pick up my food he wasn't wearing it again. Pretty alarming, considering Long Beach currently has 10,000 cases of Covid-19. I know everyone is tired of this but this could be a serious health issue, and they could infect someone vulnerable. On top of this the woman who took my order was short with me. I was there last Thursday and it was ok. Kind of disappointed since I've been to the one in HB. What made it worse was that I noticed this bug flying around and didn't know what it was. When I looked on the ground there was soooo many termites. It really made me uncomfortable and I lost my appetite. I wish I would of taken a pic of it. One of the termites landed on my friends shoulder from the ceiling. I will definitely not go back there again. The service was not that good either. read more

Tuesday evening Casually strolling 2nd street after work with a Buddy and we both agreed on sushi for dinner. Fast seating which was great and wow! Do they have an extensive menu. However our waitress was very over bearing from the moment we sat down. After being seated for less than 3 minutes she asked if we were ready to order. We politely stated that we would need a few more minutes. About 30 seconds later another waitress approached our table to ask us again, if we were ready to order. Then about two minutes later a third waitress (not our original waitress) approaches us to ask if we were ready to order. Growing slightly annoyed we finally pick our items. Presentation was great and the rolls were amazing! Unfortunately, during our meal the same two waitresses would continue to hover over our table and continually asking us if we were all set. Now I understand wanted to present excellent customer service but not at the expense of the comfortability of the patron. Although the food was great, it'll probably be a while before I done here again due to not feeling comfortable or welcomed. read more

Go to the location in HB. The service was awful. The waitress walked back and forth the entire time we ate and did not ask if we needed anything. She also didn't tell us that they don't have oysters until the weekend after we ordered it. Everything about this place is right. I've been here 3 times and every time I leave I leave super satisfied! The fish is very fresh so the sashimi is excellent!!! I've had the 4 Corners which is 4 kinds of seared fish, each layed on a different kind of salad, and it is one of my favorite items on the menu. The menu is very extensive so I can't remember everything I've tried, but I've tried a variety of things including sashimi, different cut rolls, the shrimp fried rice, soup and dessert; all have been amazing. Today, I tried the 3 company roll and it was one of the best rolls I've ever had: great tasteand texture, well rolled and excellent presentation. The place itself is clean, the staff is attentive and courteous, and the place is comfortable. This has become one of my favorite places to eat on 2nd street/Naples area. read more

This place is so nice they started us off with complementary meso soup wich in it self was very good ,It was a cold day. pleas order your appetizers quickly because it takes 20min for the yellowtail collar and the jaw special. Full of flavor and is spicy with Just the right amount of salt) SASHIMI SALAD* $17.95 (one of my all time favorite salads. This place is great. The atmosphere is very friendly and cozy. One of my friends has gluten sensitivity and the staff was very attentive about the situation. Had the chirachi. Well, I was a little bit upset when this place took the location of Apengo, but this place was very good in and of its own right... We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and were seated immediately. Next came a nice hot bowl of meso soup... We got some drinks (beers and sake). We ordered the Halloween roll and the Hercules roll... both very well plated, seasoned and tasting (photos attached). No desert and we got the check... 41$ NOT INCLUDING tip... I must say, that's a bit on the steep side for two 8 piece rolls, 2 small beers and a sake... If we could have got a happy hour this place may have been 5 stars... But with a price like that, we will probably go down the street to Izakaya Sato... Holy sashimi. This is my second time at a Sushi On Fire, my first being at the HB location, and it left a delectable lingering taste in my mouth and my senses. This location is no different, although the feel is not as "fun" as HB's location the food is still up to par and no less memorable. As others have mentioned, there was free saki and miso soup to start us off. Large Asahi split for two. Tuna Tataki - Seared tuna accompanied with garlic and spinach. Wow. Would get this again, and recommend you do too. Refreshing Roll - jalapeño and sliced lemon garnish to top off the roll. MIND BLOWING. There's a serious kick to your mouth. One of my all time favorite rolls here. Yuttsu Roll - 3 different fish (salmon, yellowtail, albacore) and avocado wrapped with cucumber. No rice whatsoever. Felt like this roll was more refreshing than the refreshing roll! We also had mochi ice cream for dessert. I recommend the strawberry over the green tea. It was 4 cut up pieces with a scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle and strawberry glaze decorating the plate. Service was outstanding. There seemed to be two servers helping us, perhaps one was just the runner but they were both awesome, and one of the girls was very genuine. I wish I remembered her name. Always smiling and making eye contact. Seriously, no place I've eaten at along the same price compares to Sushi On Fire. Other places have no flare or creativity to their rolls, but this place is creative to the core. Worth every penny. read more

I LOVE THIS PLACE!! BEST SUSHI EVER!! I'm so happy to have stumbled across this on yelp during my late night search for food. Gave this place a try and It was love at first sight/taste/smell. I've pretty much dropped all other sushi place for this. My favorite is the "sushi on fire" roll. Every time I take a bite into each roll, it's like an orgasm in my mouth. Total foodgasm!! There is sriracha in their sauce. Who doesn't love that? By the way, this is a cooked roll. My other favorite is the DK roll. The rolls are sitting in this amazing mango salsa. There are mango salsa on top of each roll too. The tuna was fresh. Each bite was soooo damn flavorful. My must have every time I come here is their spicy edamame. It is A-MAZING!! It's cooked in spicy salt and chili. I could eat multiple orders of this! For dessert, try their fried green tea ice cream. Sooo yummy. Tempera green tea ice cream for dessert is a perfect way to end the meal. It was like biting into a sweet thin layer of donut with green tea ice cream. The service is great. The employees are friendly. Every now and then, you might be one of the lucky ones and receive a Sake on the house. Off all the times I've have been there, I have received a free Sake 80% of the time. It's slightly pricey, but absolutely worth it for the quality of food that you are getting. Delicious!!! When you look at the restaurant from the outside, it doesn't look like much. But holy moly this place had some of the best sushi I've ever had, and I've had some good sushi! So that's saying something. The menu is the size of a novel, so be prepared to come here on a few occasions to try everything. Come early because this place gets packed. We started off with some hot sake and some tuna sashimi. The hot sake was velvety smooth. The sashimi was beyond delicious!! The cuts were nice and thick so you don't feel like you've been cheated. They had that buttery texture when biting into it. What I liked was that the tuna had a nice, rich, red color. So we knew that it was fresh. I don't remember the names of all our rolls. I think we had something called The Pink Lady, I think one was called Beef roll even though there was no beef on it, White Roll, and one of their other recommended rolls. All four rolls were mind blowing!!! My favorite was the White Roll. I will post pictures so you can see. Definitely recommend this place! Oh and they have happy hour! read more

This place was very good. I cant speak to the noise or anything like that because We went at kind of an off hour. The place was not real busy so we had great service. The sushi was awesome. It ranks right up there with Sushi Studio (Which is my favorite) The fish was fresh. Prices...not so much. $15 dollars for a roll in my opinion is really bad. This is why I suggest coming here for the happy hour. For happy hour they have 20% off the entire menu which makes things a little better in terms of price. I was walking on 2nd St looking for a late light lunch, so I decided to go to Sushi on Fire. It was about 3 PM and there was not a single customer other than me, so service was definitely on point. Lol. I sat at the sushi bar and the hostess even asked me what channel I wanted to watch on the TV (I chose the Food Network, of course. Ha!). Since it was still early afternoon, the lunch specials were still being offered. I got the chicken teriyaki bento with gyoza and California roll, which was very light. The teriyaki chicken is actually chicken breast, so it definitely was very lean. It was a very small portion of protein. The chicken breast was cut very thin, to my disappointment. The gyoza and was my favorite part of the bento box - very crispy yet not greasy. Yum! I've had much better bento boxes before, so I really just come here for the convenience since I live in Belmont Shore. The service is good and everyone is friendly, so that is definitely a plus. The bento box was around $12, I think, which I think is fairly overpriced for a bento box since the meal was so dainty, but it is Belmont Shore, so I always expect to pay a few extra dollars for location. All in all, I'd come back for another light lunch or if I'm craving some Japanese food yet don't want to drive out of Belmont Shore. read more

So one mediocre sushi place closes and another one opens in its place. I'm thinking that this is some sort of marketing ploy to get more people to come into their restaurant. I was proved wrong and the experience here was pretty good. It was a cold night when we came in and we were immediately served hot Miso Soup. It was just the right touch. We then ordered our beers, saki, albacore and yellow tail sushi, a salmon skin hand roll and a 911 sushi roll. The menu options were heavy on the tempura rolls, but still had a good selection. Food came out fast, maybe a little too fast. I do want to enjoy my dining experience and not feel rushed. The sushi was fresh and the service was exceptional, even when it got really busy later in the evening. As if two saki's (one hot, one cold) wasn't enough, the manager gave us another hot sake and stated it was on the house. No other explanation and we were perplexed on why they were handing out free saki. Anyway, no complaints here, but were pretty wasted by the end of our dinner. Favorite sushi place by far! When I'm over getting mediocre rolls elsewhere- this is my place. I would literally drives hours for the S&J appetizer! Some other favorites are the Halloween rolls and the White Dragon rolls. The dressings for their salads are always really delicious also. I would give 4 1/2 stars if I could but I can't. I only knocked it down because half the time the mango isn't ripe in the Sexy roll. And if it were ripe- it would be my favorite. I really need the sweetness of the mango as relief from all the jalapeño and cilantro. With that being said- it's still the best place sushi in Long Beach! read more
