It's been awhile since I last visited Tapsilog Bistro. A nice festive place with mostly inside seating. The service was friendly, informative, and helpful. He also told me of their other location in Santa Clara called Tapsilog Cantina. Pork Inihaw Na Liempo: Griddled european pork belly with skin marinated pinoy style (3/5). I ordered it with garlic rice. The rice had some hard inedible things in it. Also the pork belly was a bit chewy and saltier than expected. The pickled julienned cucumbers were delicious! Pork Tocilog: Marinated sweetened pork, aka Filipino sweet bacon (no pic). We also had the pork skewers, chicken skewers which we thought were delicious and done well! Also, we tried the and bistek and sizzling pork sisig but felt both was overly salty.

Sisig, thick hard pieces of pork. Not tender at all.

How could Chicken Adobo (all dark meat) be sooooo dry? No sauce or gravy and served over spinach leaves??? The sisig also was dry and over cooked. Not tender and no soy/vinegar sauce. If someone is experiencing Filipino food for the first time and ordered these 2 items, they would not return. So sad. Adobo and sisig is slowly cooked and the juices meld into the sauce creating a savory dish. For shame!

I've been wanting to swing by Tapsilog and today I finally did. We went around 9:45-10am. I ordered a 3 meat bilao. I chose longanisa, sisig and pancit as my 3 "meats". I think for the price the portion size is super generous and I left with leftovers. You can never go wrong with longanisa. The pork sisig was nicely cooked and super flavorful. The pancit was super light but I kept wanting to eat more! Overall, it hit the spot. I've been craving Filipino food for awhile now and I'm so happy my craving is finally satisfied! The service was wonderful and I love all the decor! Highly recommend!

The 3 kids and I were out and about in the South Bay and everyone started to get hungry, D1 wanted Filipino food and none of us had been here before so it was worth a check out. In a random strip mall with nothing much in it, however plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating. We opted for indoors. Cute setup inside, tables with sungka boards and shells. Banana leaves. Cute. Menu was pretty extensive but we opted for silogs, and the girls shared. The girls had the bistek and sisig, SonShine had the sisig and lechon kawali, and I had the bangus and inihaw na liempo. Everything was YUM to the max. Flavored well, not too salty or oily. We wish it wasn't so far for us, but we have plenty of yummy places here where we are too. If you're in that area definitely check it out.

A hole in the wall spot in a small plaza with lots of parking. Picked up an order to go but the restaurant had such a comforting ambiance that I would want to come back to dine in. Our order was ready sooner than the expected time and the staff was very friendly when picking up the order. Items Ordered: - Lumpia Shanghai: Comes with 20 pieces of lumpia and spicy sweet and sour sauce or vinegar garlic dipping sauce. Can share between 2-4 people and always goes well with the spicy sweet and sour sauce. - Grand Silog 3 meats 1 egg: Picked the sisilog, longsilog, pork lechon kawali silog for the meats. I liked the flavor of the sisilog which wasn't too salty. Came with 3 pieces of longsilog which were very tasty. Pork lechon kawali was very dry and came with 3-4 pieces. - Pansit Guisado noodles: HUGE portion of pansit noodles and came with 4 slices of lime. Flavor was good overall, maybe just a tad more flavor would make the dish great.

Despite the dishes looking small it was actually quite filling but I'm quite disappointed with the flavors. Not worth the price for the off flavors imo. The garlic rice barely had any garlic flavor and it was dry. Just tasted like plain white rice with the tiiiiinnniiiest hint of garlic. Chicken adobo was too salty despite it being fall off the bone tender. Longanisa was good though. Also got a halo halo but thought it tasted like watered down milk :( and was majority just ice

Delicious food, generous servings, great service! So many other dishes that we wanna try so we'll have to come back soon!!

Returned for a few times already! Food is so good here. I love lumpia the best. I like that their plate option allows you to try out multiple items the same time. Can't wait to go back and try more other stuff. Service was great. Staff were friendly and attentive. Ambiance: great for hanging out with friends and casual setting. Plenty of parking outside

tapsilog bistro in the south Bay is my new favorite go to Filipino place in San Jose Their ambience had a lot of Filipino culture inside along the wall. The service was pretty good, fast, as good as the food. Can't wait to visit with friends again

Came here on a whim honestly. I was at Marvel to pick up a cake order, but it wasn't ready. I then ended up coming here, well 1, I was hungry, and 2 I've been craving Filipino food for the longest. Originally, I was looking to dine outside because I had my pup with me. But the young lady who was serving was so kind and made accommodations since it was so hot outside, seating us inside while the pup was in his stroller. *Yes, I'm that dog mom* While I wanted to order sago gullaman, they ran out of tapioca pearls. it's okay though because she served it with jelly instead which sufficed my cravings. I ordered the Kare-Kare which was super good. Made miss my mom's cooking so much. To be honest I may even think of doing a boodle fight catering because I haven't tried yet, so that would be a new experience. Especially, with the service. I do plan to come back.

Came here with family and it truly feels like a homey hole in the wall spot. The location has so much personality and I love it. There was a big party the day we went so it was loud inside there but we didn't mind. The food was amazing, very flavorful and many different options. It truly tasted authentic. The service was good, they were busy because of the party because so things took some time and some things were sold out but overall they were very accommodating. We would come back again for the food!

Parking is amazing and staffs are friendly. Restaurant is a bit old and outdated, but the food is decent, the garlic rice is phenomenal, but the meat was extremely oily and overburden the entire dish. The pork egg is not crispy enough, but rather really oily and just crunchy.

2nd time coming here. Love the Philippines vibe and decor and it definitely makes it feel like home - the food especially! Beef tapsilog: 9/10. The beef was so tender and not overcooked/chewy like some tapsilog at other places. Paired this with the salted egg and the flavors complement each other so well! Kare Kare: 10/10. I had a random Kare Kare craving and didn't want to cook it at home. Always will go to this place to fix my Filipino food cravings. The singing is also a go to dish that tastes sooo good when they cook it fresh.

Is this a decent sit down experience or more fast food/casual with only disposable plates and cutlery? From the picture it seems more fast food/casual on paper plates but wanted to confirm.

This eatery is more of a casual dining with disposable plates.

Are you planning to open later on evenings and Sundays? I was there at 2:45 last Sunday and was told the restaurant was closed; used to come here regularly but since you're not open very many hours, I haven't been able to eat there.

Just never got around to working a review before. Went early on a Saturday evening recently and was surprised to not have to wait. We split a Bibb lettuce salad that was simple, refreshing and perfect. A tiny pea fritter was the very definition of a small bite, and while it wasn't what I expected, it was crisp and tender. Grilled artichoke was one of the best I have ever had. (Just wish they had been explicit on the menu that it was a half a grilled artichoke). Cocktails were up to their usual high standard -- rye Manhattan for the BF and clarified milk punch for me. I don't get out much these days and I rarely drink alcohol, but is $20 a lot for a cocktail? Or is that normal now? They were great though. BF got the ribeye with morels, which was perfectly cooked and unbelievably tender. I had the burger, which was more exciting than it sounds, dressed with a wild combo of veggies, cheese and bacon while still managing to be harmonious and fresh tasting. Side of fries were crisp and tasty, though not as perfectly hot as I would ideally wish. Because the burger was late coming out, or server (Bernardo I think?) comped us an amazing little dish of vanilla soft serve ice cream with olive oil and sea salt, along with the butterscotch pudding that we ordered. The pudding didn't have the strong butterscotch flavor that I hoped for, but the vanilla ice cream stole the dessert show. OCK isn't a place I can afford often, but I still really like it. I appreciate the creativity of the dishes, the quality ingredients, and the bar. And the old-school shopping center vibe of the Pruneyard is low key festive and garden-like. The interior of the restaurant is kind of standard-industrial modern, but nicely so. Oh, and their glassware is super nice.

She was attentive but not overbearing and gave great recommendations. Even if the food was not good, we would still come back because she made it such a pleasant experience. Thankfully the food is also amazing. I have always been addicted to the triple B and the KFC so I was nervous when I tried the new versions recently. I enjoyed them both more than I had previously. The triple B was smaller but the biscuit had much more flavor, depth and was more pillowy. The KFC had always been my favorite and the new version did not change that at all. The chicken was much juicier, and it had a lot more substance. The chicken pieces were thicker and the sauce was delicious. It's reminiscent of a chicken and waffle dish because I believe the sauce has some sort of maple syrup. The dishes have changed but I'm a huge fan of the change. I will continue to come here and I am glad to see that this place doesn't seem to want to stop getting better.

We hit the Brunch hour and the place was rocking. We were able to sit right down amazingly. There is a fabulous patio to people watch and enjoy the California weather. Our server Charles was really great. He walked us through the menu giving us the 911 on watch to order. Most of the plates were perfect shareable bites. Making it easy to try multiple plates and really get your inner Foodie on. We started with the Seasonal Banana Pancakes with crushed walnuts and cinnamon maple syrup. Inside the pancakes were fresh bananas and the walnuts were crushed very small but added a great texture. Moving on to the Chicago Steak sandwich don't get confused but in Chicago they refer to Roast Beef as steak. The Au Jus dip was very flavorful without being a salt bomb. Loved the potato roll they used all round a killer sandwich. Going a little outside the box we tried the Jerk Chicken Sandwich. The pineapple slaw with this amazing peppery chutney type sauce played so well with the acid of the pineapple. Another must have sandwich. I ask you how can you go to a new restaurant and not have some dessert. With everything else being so good our expectations were pretty high and we were not disappointed. The Giant Profiterole is exactly that GIANT and stuffed with White Chocolate Gelato and Hot Chocolate Sauce that you can drizzle over the top. To fricken die for good. I'm not sure why this cut of chicken was used. The fries were alright, but they did not come with the sandwich and cost an additional $5. Our total came to almost $90 for three entrees with no beverages. I was especially frustrated because my sandwich was inedible.
