The food here, Thai-Viet cuisine, is actually pretty solid with generous serving. Pork belly and lime -crispy and a bit sour. Grilled chicken - tender and delicious. Crab fried rice - heavy because it mostly tastes like fish sauce and hot pepper. Being half Thai myself, I enjoy their heavy taste. However, the asian guy stationed at the pick up window was incredibly rude. Had an attitude towards everyone and was SO rude. I asked for a plastic bag for my 2 orders and he handed me one with my to-go boxes... I asked him if he can just bag them for me.... that's his job, he's working at the PICK UP window... and he told me he could only open the bag for me and did just that and walked away.... like dude, smh, that's part of your service dude. Felt like a steal to get a crab dish for $12. Pretty hearty too, because rice. Vietnamese Sticky Wings: Not as crispy as twice-fried Korean wings. But crispier than mediocre pub buffalo wings. The sauce was a little spicy and a little sweet and a little fishy. Definitely sticky, so make sure you get ample napkins. A really good pairing for the crab fried rice so to up your protein dosage. Passion Fruit Limeade: One of the most refreshing non-alcoholic drinks I've ever had. I love passion fruit and I love limeade, so the combination is perfect. Being close to UCSF, SF Spark Social is a great place to grab a drink or bite to eat. We have ordered the grilled chicken twice and the crab fried rice once. The crab fried rice was ok, but overly fishy tasting which lead me to think it wasn't that fresh. The Fire Grilled Chicken (which we've ordered 3x) is DELICIOUS!!! The only downside on a yummy dish is the salad which was always overdressed with an unappetizing mayo based dressing. read more

ATMOSPHERE The Wicked Star food truck moves pretty quickly, despite there being a line when I ordered I got my food in less than 15 minutes. The person taking my order and handing me the food was kind and attentive, something that I always appreciate at food trucks that are in high demand. FOOD The pork belly and lime bowl was pretty good, with strong flavors of lime and and fish sauce. Unfortunately, I had expected a lot more kick from the Thai chili and ultimately the flavors fell short. While each ingredient was good, especially the pork belly, it wasn't as dynamic a dish as I had hoped and good use a little more complexity. I would say though that perhaps this slight disappointment was due to my expectations, that there was more than just the description on the menu, more so than any false advertisement on my end. The service is fine, food trucks you expect to wait, and wait. But once you waited, you expect good food, especially if your lunch is $18 plus tips, just for the food, not including drink. So today I got the crab fried rice, simply put, false advertisement. I found a tooth pick tip, not a whole tooth pick but just the tip, size piece of crab meat. That was it, no more. All the rest was rice and some egg. I had this same dish, maybe 5-7 times before and it was always delicious. The umami was palatable even without opening the box, but today was very disappointing. The smell was the same, but visually it was not. There was too much black pepper and tasted very bland, much more of just fish sauce and rice but I ate it all because I wasn't going to waste food. It didn't have the cilantro or fried scallions that would have MAYBE helped to offset the fact that this rice tasted like the fishy leftover rice from the day before. I love the sauce that the rice comes in. Plus the lime is just a nice touch. I used to love coming here because they have a tasty Thai Chicken Salad. However, the service is SO TERRIBLE that I will not be coming back. I came about a month ago and ordered the salad which CLEARLY indicates that the salad comes with avocado on their menu blasted on their truck! To my surprise there was no avocado and I didn't want to go back so I sucked it up and ate the salad. Then, I went back again yesterday and when I got my salad it had no avocado AGAIN! I'm a cook and I really really have to bow down to to Wicked star... I love love their food.. Their pork belly and lime is my top my favorite dish from them. You can't find this special Thai dish anywhere in the Bay Area. It's a fine balance of sweet and sour. The light fish sauce mix with lime, cilantro, and Thai chili really create a unique taste for this dish. Their pork belly is super tender, moist and crispy outside. It'll take you right back to Thailand after your first bite. I have to say that they have the best Vietnamese chicken wings ever. The crab fried rice is so on point. You have to try their white lotus, it's a vegan dish which is fried oyster mushroom. Its texture and the dipping sauce is a whole new level of vegan dish. PHO LOVERS; You must must must try their Pho. It's so delicious. To me it's the best pho in the Bayarea. Pho in SJ can't even compare to their Pho. Sadly that their soft launched ended.
