I've been here twice. Once about a week after they opened and another today (a month or two after opening?). Literally the worst food truck in Spark Social. It took 25 mins to get my chicken bowl and when I opened the box (5mins after getting it) the chicken was already cold. Rice hard. Salad no dressing, no nothing, straight out of the mixed salad bag. This was a food truck at Spark Social, conveniently located about two blocks from Chase Center. I got the crab fried rice, which was very flavorful (although a lot of pepper in case you're sensitive) and came with a refreshing side of green salad with a light citrus dressing which helped take out the density of the rice. Price was reasonable relative to the other food trucks and considering it included fresh crab / seafood. Service was ok and food prep was fast -- my order turned around in about a minute (and rest assured it tasted fresh). Would definitely come back if in the area. read more

Tried Wicked Star for the first time during my first visit to Spark Social! We ordered the Pork Belly & Lime Bowl, White Lotus Bowl, and Vietnamese Sea Salt Coffee to share. I did order a white mimosa on the side from the Sparc Social cart though. Pork Belly & Lime Bowl - Delicious flavors, very filling. I thought the pork belly could have been crispier though, the soft texture made it a bit chewy and less appealing to eat. White Lotus Bowl - I wasn't sure what to expect, but this was delicious. Great textures and flavors, very umami. Very 'meaty' in it's own way, in spite of being vegetarian. Had a great fry! Loved this the best, would get again. Vietnamese Sea Salt Coffee - Good, but way more creamy and sweet than coffee. I would pass on this only because it's too heavy for me. Overall, good experience! Went to spark social on Saturday and decided to try the crab fried rice. The order was very small. Definitely not worth the $15. Rice was mushy and flavor was not good at all. I wouldn't recommend this dish. The employees that day we went just didn't seem happy. Very poor customer service.. save your money eat somewhere else. read more

I was expecting to eat a full on box of fried rice but it's half crab fried rice with half a salad. Solid choice in SPARK Social. The crab fried rice was definitely 5/5, really tasty and plenty of crab. The pork belly and lime was more of a 3.5/5, not bad but a bit dry and I've definitely had better pork belly. Each meal comes with a side salad. My one complaint overall is that their portions could be a bit bigger for $13. read more

Wow wow wow. Dinosaur bone broth pho! Lol. Just kidding. The meat was so tender and the meatballs were amazing. Very unique! You can just tell by the texture that it was mostly meat and not dough like most pho meatballs. You can tell the broth was cooked for hours by the beefy and potent flavors. The aroma filled my whole kitchen when I was reheating it on the stove. Everyone knows pho has to be served on the spot, straight off the stove so it was a bummer I couldn't devour it the minute I got back to my car (not like it's chow mein). My photos do not nearly do it justice. I was just so excited to dig in! If it weren't for shelter in place, I would have dined in and been able to take a photo of the dish the way it was meant to be served/displayed. Honestly, one of my favorite places to get pho! I'm sad they stopped it, but it makes sense why they would during hard times like this. I've come so many times and tried most of their main dishes. My go-to is the Fire Grilled Chicken Salad. It's perfect for when I want to eat healthy, LOL. When I'm craving Vietnamese food, this is my go to spot! Highly recommend their pho, sticky wings, and Vietnamese mint coffee. The pho has fresh made noodles and homemade meatballs. Yes, I said HOMEMADE- how does it get any better than that? Well, on Sundays, they sell bun bo hue which is my absolute favorite and the best BBH in SF. It's super authentic and aromatic with lemongrass flavors served with a large beef rib! You finally don't have to drive to all the way to San Jose to get authentic bbh anymore cuz it's finally here in the city ;). They were pretty slow to take orders. There was only like three people in line put it took more than 10 minutes just to order. Granted, I later realized I could just order online and that probably would have been faster. My biggest issue was that they forgot the avocado on my Thai Chicken Salad. I got this to go and only realized it was missing the avocado when I got home, which was a huge bummer. Avocado is usually pretty expensive and is probably the reason for the high price point on this item, so overall I feel ripped off of like $1.50 +. We typically order food at the SPRO coffee truck (amazing umami avocado toast, by the way) but decided to give Wicked Star a try recently. We shared the crab fried rice and the pork belly and lime bowl. Both were delicious but the pork belly and lime was the standout! I was underwhelmed by my lunch, so I walked over to Spark Social to find something else to make up for it. I'm usually indecisive when I'm there b/c of the variety and tasty options, but when I saw the new truck Wicked Star, my interest was piqued. It bills itself as Thai/Vietnamese, both winners in my book. I zeroed in pretty quickly on the sticky chicken wings, and I don't regret it. The wings are sizeable, crispy, well-seasoned, and not the least bit overly sweet or drowning in sodium as a lot of Vietnamese wings tend to do. There was the perfect amount of black pepper, juiciness, and perfect balance of sweet and savory. The modest garnish of green onions on top was a nice finish. I really hope Spark Social continues to host this truck, because these wings are probably the best ones I've had on the West Coast. read more

This place has the best grilled chicken in all of SF. The chicken has Just the right mix of juiciness and tenderness. Not a single piece was dry, yet had they all had the nice chargrilled taste. I remember Wicked Star being a decent option a few years ago but quality seems to have gone down since then. The crab rice was extremely unappetizing and I couldn't finish it. We ordered their Crab Fried Rice, Vietnamese Sticky Wings, Passion Fruit Limeade, and Vietnamese Sea Salt Coffee. The fried rice had good flavor, but was dry and did not have much crabmeat in it. The wings were sweet and tasty, but I wish the batter was more crispy. I am a sucker for passion fruit, and this limeade had actual passion fruit seeds in it! So refreshing and satisfying... definitely will get it again. The coffee was strong and enjoyable. Prices are on the higher end for food trucks. read more

My family frequents the food trucks in Mission Bay, so we were excited to try something new. The Thai Chicken Salad was pretty good. The chicken was tender and flavorful, but the side salad was bland. I think they forgot the dressing. We used the excess dressing from the next dish, Pork Belly & Lime, to flavor it. Pork belly and pork pieces were dry and thick fat, needed salt. It would have been better to have cooked the pork belly a little more to make it lighter and crispy, which is what I did when I got home. Usually Wicked Star is my go-to here at Spark SF but for whatever reason, the guy working the register today 10/5 was super rude. There was a long line because obviously the food is good, but no acknowledgement of their customers so letting them know they'd be with them shortly. I was standing in line with my dog and that guy with the black hoodie almost trampled on my dog. I almost left but I was so hungry and when I got to the register, there was no hello just a super grumpy face like someone spilled his coffee on purpose this morning. Getting my food once it was ready was also just as unpleasant. I get everyone has their bad days but when you're working a food truck, part of your business is customer service and today's experience turned me off from future purchases. Ordered Crab Fried Rice which was way too Spicy and not warmed. Ordered the Sticky Wings as well and Taste wise was good but wing were not looking as shown on the photo. Not seemed be Fried for too much sauce made the Chicken like slimy and soft. I reheated wings in the oven made them better.
