When the weather is good, ideal place to sit outside in the porch, and have a brunch or late lunch! We had the Chicken & Roasted Peppers pizza! The thin crust pizza with the tender chicken was delicious! The linguine with clam sauce and lobster was awesome! More so we liked the part that we could customize the dish with the way we liked! Great place to visit if you happen to go to Central Park or Lincoln Center for a concert. Apparently this place is supposed to be one of the oldest of the restaurants around Central Park! My family has come here for the lasagna and chocolate mousse on a few occasions and has always had good service and enjoyed the atmosphere and wonderful food. The prices here seemed high until we found out that each meal can feed a small family of 12 (seriously at least two). Our most recent visit was on Saturday, 10/5/2019. I haven't written reviews before but signed up for yelp after Saturday to relay the extra customer service that was received that night. Having been in the service industry for years, you notice truly excellent attention to customer details when you see it, most time, more so than the average patron. We arrived during prime eating on a Saturday night knowing it would be tough to get a table in a reasonable amount of time. We had a guest from out of town with us that were sold on the pictures and our descriptions of the amazing food. We arrived to find a long wait after being greeted by Liz, the hostess. She was attentive to our wait, apologetic to the line and gave us updates periodically as we were told 40 minute wait initially. Most places we eat at in NYC as initially ask if you have a reservation and when you reply no, they give you that look like "good luck getting a table without one" and an upturned nose. Liz did quite the opposite. She smiled and reassured us that even without one, she would seat us in 40 minutes or less! The spin on the time and positive attitude go a long way when you are hungry. After about 5 minutes our first update was, "looks like about 20 minutes now", which was a bright outlook that our long projected wait was already cut in half. After about three more minutes, Liz approached us to let us know a table was already ready for us, to "walk this way". Not only was our wait shorter than expected, but getting the updates along the way that were consistently exceeded, made our time in queue fly by. Our friend from out of town loved the food and experience. She will definitely be joining us again on her next visit. With the amazing customer service provided by Liz, we will not only be coming with our friend, but more often on Saturdays knowing that Liz will get us a table with a smile and prompt updates. You can't ask for more. I say "Job well done Café Fiorello" and to hats off to your choice of staff. The waiter and bus staff were good as well, but they can't all be Liz, she is only one person after all and a great asset to the dining experience you provide. read more

Great restraunt super close to Lincoln Center! Indoor and outdoor seating is available, both is very nice. I got the margarita pizza: thin crust, very tasty, great to share. The artichoke salad is a great choice too. It's under their appetizers section but it's a descent meal size for an entrée. It's a little over priced but what else can you expect from a nicely decorated place right by The Met. If you are craving Italian food this is a great spot. Judging from the pizza alone that i ordered take out from. I would say a solid 4 stars. Ordered the supreme pizza that was good for 3 meals. and costs almost 40 dollars. Yes the ingredients were high quality, and yes the pizza was very good. But i think the price point was a little high. However given the location it wasnt a huge surprise. I would return for the pizza, and maybe try some of their pasta dishes. The place is by no means cramped and the decor is classy old school. A solid option in the Lincoln center area. read more

I love this place. The antipasto selection is beautiful and delicious. The tagliatelle alla Bolognese and pizza are among my favorites. It is is just so expensive that I don't know if it is worth it anymore. I spent $33 for a plate of pasta with nothing else ($25 before tax and tip). A perfect spot to eat in a great area. The food is fantastic, no matter what you order. The antipasto bar is out of this world. The seafood is always fresh. The atmosphere is great and a true symbol of the New York City hustle and bustle. It's perfect for the Lincoln Center area (although it can get rather crowded with all the tourists). It's great people watching (have seen a few celebs in here) and just overall great ambiance. I have visited this cafe twice, about two years apart. Both were memorable in the best ways. The waitstaff was friendly and accommodating. The food is amazing. The open-faced lasagna (listed as a specialty on the menu under pasta) could have fed three people (or maybe 6 as an appetizer). I should have taken a picture. Visualize a plate that you could serve an entire Thanksgiving turkey on, then pave it with giant lasagna noodles so that it almost looks like a pizza, then add sauce and cheese (and maybe repeat a noodle layer in the center. It was ENORMOUS. More than half of it was left over and we had it packaged for take home. Then again, it was also more than $30, which is a lot for a lasagna. Very few (if any) of the entrees were less than $30, although portions were generous. The side order of vegetables were either $13 or $15, I can't quite recall. So bottom line -- if you are REALLY hungry for good Italian food and your wallet has money to spare, this is the place to go in the Lincoln Center area. read more

This may have been one of the most disappointing and disturbing experiences in a NYC restaurant. I arrived ( with s 6:30 reservation)with my sister in law, nieces and my daughter for a girls night out. We were seated after a short wait and immediately informed the server that we would be going to the 8 o'clock performance across the street. The server assured us it was no problem as we had close to 1 1/2 hrs. Our drinks arrived rather quickly, and then the wait began. We questioned the server several times reminding him that we needed to leave for a show. As we waited , several tables around our table turned over, and all of them , men seated at those tables had been served their meals as we sat and waited. Finally, we canceled our order and had to leave. No apologies from the restaurant staff, just an attitude because the food was ready to come out 12 minutes before curtain time! Although a convenient spot, this mediocre restaurant with its pretentious , indifferent staff is one to AVOID!! read more

This place is still excellent! The margarita pizza is still mandatory, your entree should be the tuna steak (it's huge!!), the anti pastas are excellent (but take up room that otherwise could be allocated for more pizza or tuna). Went for Sunday brunch. I wasn't very hungry, but when I saw all the wonderful vegetable antipasti, I decided to indulge. The carciofi alla giudea (Roman Jewish-style fried artichokes) were almost as good as at da Giggetto in Rome, and I can't remember seeing them on a menu before in the States. Braised fennel was scrumptious, as were the zucchini parmigiani. My daughter had pizza margherita with a lovely thin crispy crust. Very good simple Italian trattoria food at "fancy restaurant" prices. I guess it's the real estate, across from Lincoln Center. It wasn't too crowded when we went -- around 11:30. read more

What used to be a go-to Italian has now become a tired but still expensive mainstay. The food is predictable and the service as well - it's all fine, but not inspired, it's wine list follows that pattern too. Part of a group, which include Trattoria del Arte, Brooklyn Diner and the Red Eye Grill, all within less than a ten block radius, I sometimes think there is a main kitchen somewhere between all of them that sends the food out to its various restaurants... Easy enough to go to when you have a Lincoln Center show performance to attend across the street, there are now enough far more exciting venues around the corner and down the block. read more

What a disappointment. Went here with my wife, two daughters and mother in law as it was close to Lincoln center and we were going to a play. We ordered several appetizers and entrees. The waiter got our appetizer order wrong twice. On the good side he was very nice about correcting the order. The salads were overdressed and seemed to be missing ingredients listed in the menu. The open faced lasagna was huge but not very good. My wife sent her soup back as it was mushy and tasteless. My mussels were okay but too salty for my taste. For the money there are definitely better places to go. The service was very friendly and they did get us out in time to get to the theater. read more

This restaurant is amazing! The best Italian food I have ever eaten. While in NYC for a week we went back to eat 4 other times. My husband ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara it was so creamy..the Margherita Pizza was excellent ordered a large and it was huge. The Lasagna OMG it was the best. I am a very picky eater every time I have ever ordered Lasagna its just been okay but the Lasagna at Fiorello's is out of the ball park!! Its huge also. Lobster Seafood Risotto is also a great one. it was cooked perfect. Crab Cakes, delicious, a lot of crab. Fravioli Grandi another winner lots of cheese and I love cheese.The Antipasti Bar is huge a lot of different choices. As for the drinks I cant remember the name of it but it was rum and muddled grapes. wow..what a drink. the limoncello..lets just say yummy! Another good one is the Caiproska ..pretty strong for me..I ask for more limes. The wait staff is very attentive no complaints here. The bar staff at night is terrific! One bartender (male) has been working there for 5 or 6 years. I've seen him every year we visit NYC..Fiorello's is a MUST when we visit. Excellent excellent place!! The atmosphere is very romantic. i live nearby to Fiorello's (in the neighborhood) and although the food is good, I cant believe they charge $28.00 for the thin pizza. Yes its delicious, but it tasted much better when it was $14.99, i even stomached it for $19.99, but $28.99??cmon did the rent go up that much. I love this place, always go there after Lincoln center shows. However, early dinner yesterday was a bit of a disaster. Our appetizers were fine, but the main course was just inedible. I ordered my favorite spaghetti carbonara, and what I got was carbonara ingredients (poached egg and a strip of bacon) on top of a small portion of spaghetti. And it was really salty. My wife's seafood risotto was just ok, nothing special and also too salty. On the plus side, the bread was very tasty and the drinks/wine also excellent. Service was ok, they are very busy and the place is very hectic. Our waitress was very nice and friendly. I will obviously go there again, I hope someone there reads the reviews and fix the carbonara. read more

Not an overall wonderfull experience. Arriving separately, they misidentified me or my guest, which resulted in us being seated in different areas of the restaurant.. we found each other by cell phone. Water and wine took 10 minutes to arrive, which on a hot night was way too long. My biggest gripe is that one of the special dishes of the evening, Osso Bucco, was a serious rip off. Instead of sliced veal shank, with the great bone marrow, I received a braised lamb shank. I cook these myself at home and am perfectly aware of what they look and taste like. One of the managers just happened to be passing as I stared at it and I signalled him over .. he was aware of the table mix-up and thus probably had us marked as potential problem diners. I pointed out to him that I had not received what I ordered and he told me that that WAS osso bucco .. I pointed out the size and asked where the bone marrow would be found and he pointed to the miniscule opening at the end of the long shank. No bone marrow there for sure. He shrugged his shoulders as I was the one who did not know what I was talking about. It did not leave a great impression and proffered extra wine did not really cover up the price difference between a high quality veal shank and a lamb shank. So be warned diners.... Tables are close enough together so that you can eat off your neighbor's plates and listen to their conversation with ease. read more

I make a point to stop into Cafe Fiorello a few times a year. After my experience this weekend, I am not sure if I will be as frequent a visitor. My partner and I were greeted warmly by an extremely friendly, female maitre d'. We were then led to a cramped table. This seems to be the norm here, and I am still surprised they haven't put a table in the bathroom. Our server attended to us immediately, and was efficient and knowledgable. I ordered the risotto special, which was seafood. This is where the evening took a strange turn. I requested olive oil and salt for the bread. The server promptly returned and poured olive oil. He then walked away and returned shortly after with a block of salt. I asked for a salt shaker. He told me that they were not supplying salt shakers anymore, and this is the new way they are serving salt. After dinner, I ordered a coffee with milk. He returned with skim milk. I politely asked for regular milk. The server told me that they were no longer supplying regular milk. What kind of restaurant that prides itself in "hospitality" can not supply their guests with simple essentials like milk and salt? Especially when we're spending over $100. I have seen this restaurant cut a lot of corners throughout the years, but this is embarrassing. I don't know if we'll be returning anytime soon, which is a shame, because this place used to be so wonderful. read more

I was very disappointed by this restaurant. After reading the reviews, I was looking forward to a delicious meal with great service. All I got were mediocre entrees and terrible service. I ordered the Burrata and Stuffed Artichokes Oreganata... but they ran out of the Stuffed Artichokes so we settled for the Zucchini Parmesan instead. The Burrata didn't compare to what I experienced in the past at some of finer Italian restaurants, like Uva, and the Zucchini Parmesan was disappointing. Next we had the Pappardelle with Fresh Vegetables, which was a little less disappointing, but I could have made the same meal at home and saved myself the $25. Note the Pappardelle with Fresh Vegetables is not on the menu -- the chef was kind enough to specially make a vegetarian entree, but this was after 10 min of going back and forth with our rude waiter about vegetarian options at an Italian restaurant. All in all, the only thing this place had going for it was the ambiance -- the patio near Lincoln Center was great for people watching and lucky for us, the weather was amazing. I have been going to Cafe Fiorello since Thanksgiving Day 1992, when I took my Columbia University Japanese Graduate student Mentee there for Dinner. This year, it has been 8 times including yesterday. Love everything - convenience, food, staff, etc. Yesterday's visit (8/6/14) was noteworthy. I was greeted like a "Royal" by Ashley (the beautiful Hostess. Our Waitress was Maritsa. She was sooooo resourceful. I explained that I had not seen my favorite Pasta on the menu there in 3 years. Maritsa went to the Chef and he agreed to prepare my favorite--Tagliatelle Pasta with Bolognese sauce for me, though it was not on the menu. It was the best. Yummy. I love this place still, after going there regularly for more than 20 years. read more

Oh Fiorello, how we used to love you so! And we still do come regularly to eat at the counter and have some wine but I really wish management would stop changing things to make an extra buck here and there. The food at the counter used to be exceptional and now looks sad and tired. In fact we no longer order from the counter and just order off the menu. A year or two ago I would have given a 4 and it was a place I was always excited to bring friends. Now it's a 3 and not a place I would bring friends. Please bring all the best bits back at the counter (fava beans and pecorino, quinoa salad, the 1lb burrata, the shrimp and corona bean salad, the octopus salad). read more
