Art of a Lama I'm guessing by a local artist
    Pedro G.

Yesterday my wife and I decided to stop by this Peruvian restaurant. We drive by it regularly, and it always catches my eye because of the artistic character outside the building--not to mention we really like pollo inka. When we walked inside, we were amazed by everything they had displayed: little gems in frames, art, ceramic sculptures, and other unique pieces. The food had great flavor, although it was a little pricier than we expected. Still, we wouldn't mind visiting this place again. It was clean, the service was great, and the atmosphere really inspired me to want to visit Peru one day. I love little places like this, and I wish more restaurants would take pride in their culture the way this one does.

Parking is very accessible. They have a parking lot located in the back that has a good amount of parking. The inside only has a few tables and the patio is a bit bigger. I do wish we sat outside because it was so hot inside and there were 5 huge flies that were flying around which was absolutely annoying and gross. The decor was very nice though. I took about ten minutes to get our server to us so that we could order. My husband went looking for him because we didn't know if we were supposed to order upfront or wait. We ordered and then it took about 45 minutes to get our food which I'm usually fine with but there were only three other tables there and they already had their food. Honestly everything we asked for took forever. My husband wasn't happy about the lomo saltado. They burned the fries and meat and it was lacking flavor. The shrimp wasn't cleaned either so it was pretty disappointing and gross. We told them about it and offered a 10 percent discount. My husband had ate some already so I'm hoping he doesn't get sick from it. Pretty upset about that. The worst part is the price. $25 dollars for lomo saltado! Definitely not worth the price. Probably won't be back again.

The Mrs said everything about the decor of Casa Chaskis reminded her of home. A short drive from our workplace and we were transported into an authentic Peruvian eatery. We were hungry and ready to celebrate Peru's Independence Day with the classics. Lomo saltado and arroz con mariscos. Such a beautiful group of ladies were there patronizing as well. Not one diner was disappointed by the flavors nor the ambience. I'll have to take more of the family back soon as we were treated well!

Casa Chaskis on the westside is one of our favorite Peruvian restaurants. Fresh ingredients, and flavorful dishes. I love that they have the community garden for fresh ingredients for their dishes, but they also share with the community. It's such a vibe there from their cute patio to the Peruvian decor inside. Service staff are attractive. The lomo saltado is delicious, and the chaufa rice is enough to have leftovers.

Server brought us a fly swatter to make sure our food wasn't touched.

I love coming here. It always feels like you're coming to eat at a Tia's house. I'm not Peruvian but everything always tastes so fresh, authentic and delicious. The service is phenomenal. Our server made sure we were well taken care of and even made sure the bugs weren't bothering us. One of my most favorite things about coming here are the aguas. My favorite is the guyaba but today I had the maracuya and that was also amazing.

tallarin saltado de Mariano's: shrimp, fish, calamari, clams, and mussels stir fried with noodles, onions + tomatoes = $19.00

Friends recommended Casa Chaskis which is how I found myself ordering take out from here on a lazy Sunday night. The menu includes all sorts of Peruvian favorites ~ all versions of saltados and chaufas. I shared the following: -pollo saltado ($13.99): chicken stir fry with onions, tomatoes + French fries with rice -tallarin saltado de mariscos ($19.00): shrimp, fish, calamari, clams, + mussels stir fried with noodles, onions, and tomatoes As a matter fact preference, I like a pollo saltado over a regular lomo saltado. I found the chicken in my dish to be really dry. The pollo saltado tasted a little rough and lacked the saltado flavoring. I also found the tallarin saltado de mariscos to be lackluster. There wasn't a ton of flavor coming from the seafood. I felt like both the saltado and tallarin to be really bland. They resembled their respective dishes, but beyond that, lacked any flavor. I don't know whether it's because I ordered take out on a Sunday night our food tasted so haphazard? In any case, I'll have to give Chaskis another go. And maybe I'll have to dine in and order the greatest hits the next time around.

By far, some of the best Peruvian if not the best food I've had in Long Neacj for some time. Save a handful of restaurants, much of LBs food has been hype without the hurrah. This spot is nowhere near the big DT players but it should be one of them. Food was insanely good, presented beautifully but not presumptively. Service was attentive but not overly so. Prep and service was fast. Decor, in and out, was in a similar vein to the food. Securely with a trek to the Wilmington side of Long Beach.

Excellent service and communication. The restaurant had a great home style vibe to it. The food was amazing. You could taste the love they put into it.

    Excited to try this place

Came here on a Sunday evening, and I was super glad it wasn't packed! The place was super cute and has nice outside seating, which I loved! I came here mainly to try their Tallarín Saltado de Pollo, and I enjoyed it a lot! RATE: 10/10 My dad ordered Lomo Saltado and said it was okay, but I didn't get a chance to try it and say if it was good. We also ordered the chicken empanadas, which were a little burned on top, but the inside was good. The only thing I wish they had was a sauce that came with them. Overall, I loved the food! I do see myself coming back for sure in the future!

Been coming here for years. It was my favorite. Unfortunately they raised their prices way too high, I understand inflation but they went from $15 to $25 on their most popular dish out of nowhere. I was so shocked to see the bill cause I only ordered two dishes and a drink. Won't be returning cause the prices are insane now, they do have good food but not worth the price.

    We enjoyed our new friend.

This is fantastic Peruvian food. Best chicken Aguadita soup I've ever had. I could drink the aji sauce. My daughter and I enjoyed the vegan items on the menu. Very flavorful and beautifully presented. And the service was perfect. We were well taken care of. I highly recommend this wonderful place and we'll be back very soon.

We tried their lomito saltado and arrocito norteno. They didn't provide any aji sauce for the lomito (surprising) but were quick to bring some when we requested it. The beef was very tender! So although definitely more expensive than more casual Peruvian spots, we could taste the quality. I also loved the arrocito norteno, as I love seafood paella, and this was basically that. The scallops and octopus were so good! This place is a bit more luxe than the other Peruvian places I've tried before, which is reflected in their price. Although we were there in the day, I could imagine this place being a cute date spot at night. Glad to try this main stay in Long Beach and would recommend for a bit more upscale meal (although no pressure to dress nice at all, just seems like that vibe).

Aji on 4th Streets Retro Row delivered the goods as my Wife & I had journeyed down to Peru in 2024 and from Lima, Cusco and Puno. The flavours encompassed in the dishes we'd ordered which were the Lomito Saltado and the Aji De Gallina were as authentic here as what we dined on back in 2024 which certifies them as premier purveyors of Peruvian cuisine. Drinks wise, they had Maracuya juice which is their local version of passionfruit in that region as well as Chicha Morada which is their Purple Corn beverage composed of cinnamon, cloves, fresh lime juice and when in Peru, they'll utilize pineapple husks for flavouring. It apparently is more popular in Peru than Coca-Cola and after a few sips you'll inevitably see why. Next up when I return will be the Causa trio, in the meanwhile this establishment comes heavily recommended from someone who has traveled to Peru as they hit the nail on the head with their offerings.

My boyfriend's brother did the ordering since he's been here a lot. He ordered: Peruvian Cebiche: which was the catch of the day, tiger milk, ahi Amarillo, concha, and sweet potato. It was so delicious! I believe the catch of the day was either scallop or white fish which was in the tiger milk and ahi Amarillo sauce which was a sour like sauce which pairs well with the fish. It was also a great dipping sauce for the other sushi we got. If I could, I would have slurped the whole thing (the sauce) lol. Blue Fin Sashimi: with kizami wasabi and special soy sauce. If you have tried blue fin you are missing out. The sashimi just melts in your mouth and has such an easy chew to it. Sushi Nikkei Tasting (8 pc sushi): consists of 2 pcs of sweet salmon (parrillera sauce), tuna power (parrillera sauce, aji Amarillo, and chalaquita), Parmesan scallops, and Asian shiromi (white fish, Asian sauce, quinoa pop, and lemon). My boyfriend and I had 1 pc each. The salmon and Parmesan scallops were my favorite. My boyfriend's favorite was the Asian shiromi and tuna power. All the toppings complimented each other so well. Who knew?! Acebichado: which was a specialty roll with crispy shrimp, avocado topped with tuna, acebicado sauce, togarashi, and green onion Dusty roll: which was another specialty roll with crispy shrimp, avocado topped with octopus in ninja sauce, Parmesan, and tare OBA roll: which was another specialty roll that had crispy salmon, avocado topped with salmon , parrillera, jalapeno sauce, and chalaquita All the rolls were good and the different sauces complimented each other and the fish. We got there when it was lunch time so it wasn't too busy or too loud. The service was great as the servers always checked up on us. Sounded like an interesting twist. Both kinds of food are respectfully delicious in their own ways. For starters, we shared most of the appetizers, so we did the hamachi tostada. Super fresh and a nice flavorful bite. We also shared the jalapeño yellowtail and octopus fire. Both were really good but just a bit too much sauce. That's the only thing that separated the finish, aside from that, the fish was fresh. For sushi we did, salmon belly, blue fin tuna, and yellow tail belly. Def enjoyed these three pieces. Wife and I ordered blue crab hand roll, delicious. We were still hungry and ordered a couple of rolls. Nothing too spectacular, again a bit too much sauce in my opinion. Service was kinda slow here, ordered our foods, dropped off our foods, didn't really come back to check in. No refill on waters or drinks. Other than that, solid place. Would I come back? Maybe!

For the rest of the restaurant (which opens at 11am and offers a more extensive menu) I defer to other reviews. My family and I stayed in the hotel over the weekend and on an early Sunday morning (around 10am) I brought the kids here to give mom some much needed rest. I was immediately struck by the beautiful view - overlooking the Queensway Bay and the Long Beach waterfront. The restaurant is breezy, clean, and open, resembling a Mexican / Central American beach resort that the hotel themes itself around. I was quite surprised, however, to see a very abbreviated, expensive menu even at 10am, and the hardworking, amicable staff pulling small items from the refrigerator and heating them in a toaster oven. The overall picture was highly reminiscent of Starbucks, but with marginally higher quality and three times the price. I asked if anything was available that was made fresh, and the staff pointed out the main restaurant wouldn't open until 11am. We ordered the croissant sandwich ($18) and country toast ($13), and after 15 minutes for the sandwich and 25 minutes for the toast they arrived. While good, the croissant sandwich was definitely reheated, likely assembled from a number of components from a Sodexho catalog, the sausage patty definitely not homemade, and the egg a pre-made disc. No shells were cracked in the making of this one. The toast was attractive enough, but was not really toast at all - just bread with cheese and jam on top. It was good, but nothing extraordinary. While I'm deducting a point for the very long wait time for such simple, assembled food to reach us, the staff was excellent. They enjoyed greeting and playing with the children, helped with the stroller, and offered us a chocolate milk gratis after noting how long we were waiting for our simple order (with my children complaining about how famished they were). It's likely the lack of any competition in the area that keeps prices high and food quality low, but I can't help but think that some simple managerial decisions on hours and prices would make things much better. Despite fantastic staff I can't recommend Fuego's cafe. Perhaps the main restaurant would be better for a proper breakfast, but on a Sunday morning I'd expect it to open sooner. While the view is excellent, with middling food analogous to Starbucks and markedly elevated prices, if you're at the Maya I recommend you sleep in, or, better, hop across the Bay for superior options.
