~cash only~ Bring back old school diners -- this is a gem. Just what you'd expect from a classic diner spot with counter top seating and booths along the windows all while being able to see the kitchen do its thing. The food isn't amazing but it's comforting. This is truly a place for the locals where elders & regulars come frequently. Quick and easy service. Depending on the day it can get really busy and parking can be tough. But you get a sick view of the ocean from here. Sausage Scramble -- Green & red bell peppers, mushrooms, jack cheese, eggs of your choice over fries. & I substituted the onions for tomatoes. Would come back to eat this. adding a little bit of salt and this was hella tasty. Coffee -- a little bitter on the aftertaste but if you're okay with classic diner coffee then it's fine Caramelized Banana Nut Pancakes -- what every pancake should have sweet, fruits and whipped cream. Yummy!

This is such a cool little coffee shop. It's nostalgic like an old timey place. They only accept cash too, I LOVED IT! Food was fresh and good sized. You get a nice ocean breeze and view.

the "weasel": 3 scrambled eggs topped with homemade chili topped with cheese, onions with toast + potatoes = $15.95

Chuck's Coffee Shop is the bees knees. The booths at Chuck's are a blue sea blue color. To make it an even more quintessential beachside diner, the windows open up like they would in a home to let the cool breeze filter through. They really nail the beach vibe. The menu at Chuck's is pretty unfussy - breakfast, sandwiches, some Mexican fare. First off, I need to talk about the "Weasel" ($15.95) which comes with 3 scrambled eggs topped with the homemade chili served with potatoes and toast. Cheese and onions are optional. I took the option and I suggest that you do too. It's served with potato disks which are essentially flattened fries (?). So what I was in fact eating was chili (with beans), over eggs, with fries in disguise. It was breakfast, but not, and I liked it very much. I liked that the homemade chili was hearty with beans otherwise I feel like the egg + chili situation would have tasted trashy. Not for everyone, but yes for me. The turkey melt ($14.95) was also quite good. It comes with avocado, tomato + Swiss cheese on sourdough. They griddle the thick slices of turkey before it goes into the sandwich. The griddling gives the turkey nice, crispy edges which I really appreciated. I would 100% order this again. If you like a good diner, Chuck's is a good one.

Been here several times do the last several years. Great old local breakfast joint, cash only and they do have ATM inside in case. Parking are street, meters or parking lot w/ pay. Overlook the water abs nearby the pier. Friendly and cheerful staff and menu is quite big for small place. Great vibe and the foods are quite good with reasonable prices. Nice to sit and enjoys a cup of joe inside or outside with ocean breeze in the morning.

The food wasn't even that good. The hollandaise tasted like heavy cream and mayonnaise. But oddly, thats not the point. The vibes were amazing. I felt like I was transported back in time. It felt like pure nostalgia "Back To The Future" type of environment. I couldn't help but notice all the lives of each diner and the interior design. The servers and staff were extremely friendly through and through. It was MY fault that I ordered an eggs benedict at a diner, but hey I did. I'll be coming back to try their chili and egg breakfast dish.

We stumbled upon this fun little diner during our Long Beach and were pleasantly surprised! It has that classic, no-frills charm that immediately makes you feel like a local. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with friendly staff and fast service that keeps everything moving smoothly--even when it's busy. Just a heads-up: it's cash only, so make sure to bring cash. I ordered the Sunshine Special, which was the perfect way to start the day--generous portions, perfectly cooked eggs, and crispy hash browns that hit the spot. My husband went with the Country Fried Steak with Gravy, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Location wise it's just steps from the beach! Whether you're a local or just visiting, this diner is a hidden gem that captures the laid-back coastal vibe perfectly.

#3 Omelette: Beef and Ortega Green Chile

Cash only! I was down in Long Beach in the morning and have been to all the other diners and coffee shops in the area, but for some reason had never been to Chuck's. It has a great location right next to the water and there is a lot of free parking surrounding the restaurant, which is extremely convenient. It's quite small on the inside, but they have a lot of tables inside and out and they seem to turn quickly, so you most likely won't have to wait very long. The menu is pretty small but has a lot of good classic items on it. Our server was not the most polite and took about 15 minutes or more to stop by after we sat down to get our drink order and then took another long time before she came back for our food order. Everything arrived a lot slower than I am used to for the diner or coffee shop so that was a bit of a surprise. For my breakfast I chose the #3 Omelette, which is Beef and Ortega Green Chile and thought it was pretty good, although not nearly as good as other versions that I've had recently. The chile didn't have as much punch as I'm used to and it was honestly a smaller portion than I usually get at other places. I also felt that the beef wasn't seasoned at all. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't memorable and I would not suggest ordering it. I also was not a huge fan of the coffee. It tasted a little bit bitter to me so overall, I don't feel that I will be back but would encourage anyone who is in the area to give it a try.

I happened to be close to this diner and I was hungry, so I decided to come to this place for a late breakfast. The diner: The place is a small restaurant, very quaint and very clean. The waitstaff: Staff were welcoming and very attentive. The drinks: I had the brewed coffee and it was amazing! The main course: I had the omelette with veggies with a side of fruit and sourdough toast. It was delicious! The conclusion: I enjoyed every bit of breakfast. Will I be back? Absolutely! By the way, it's CASH ONLY. There's an ATM inside the diner for your convenience.

    Evan K.

PS: Bring CASH, they have an ATM too though Been living in Belmont Shore for over a year now and always saw Chuck's Coffee shop on the corner and never pulled the trigger. Finally stopped by and I'm glad I did. Love the old school diner type of feel, I haven't ate a place like this in a while. It seems like this is THE local spot and their are a bunch of regulars dining in to catch up with their friends. They have plenty of inside and outside seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the ocean views and cold breeze! The food here is pretty decent and it's exactly what I expected= SIMPLE! This place isn't spectacular but gets the job done. They have scrambles, skillets, omelettes and more. I got the Fisherman's Breakfast which came with 3 Eggs, 4 strips of bacon and sausage ( I did two bacon, two sausage), 1 toast and potatoes. I would totally get this again, especially ordering potatoes because they were almost like chips. They were thin and were sorda crispy.

For starters, we got the Parker House Rolls, which comes with truffle butter, local citrus honey, and grana padano cheese. These rolls were so fluffy and flavorful. We also ordered the hummus, which was so rich and creamy, and the oysters from the raw bar. For the main, we ordered the Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop, Fish & Chips, and the Wedge salad to share. And let me tell you, that everything was so good. The Smoked & Glazed Pork Chop came with a whole show, where staff would bring out the dish in a smoke-infused glass dome and open the dome when presented on the table so we can smell and see all the smoke. Not only was it beautiful to look at, but it tasted just as beautifully. The meat was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and the rainbow swiss chard, cheddar grits, candied pecans, and avocado honey helped balance out all the juiciness from the meat. They use haddock fillet for the Fish & Chips, which was fried to perfection. The Wedge Salad is what actually knocked my socks off! This was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. It had your key ingredients: iceberg, buttermilk dressing, red onion, crumbled egg, tomato, bacon gastrique, blue cheese, dill, chives - but something about this salad was different! It was so refreshing, flavorful--just everything you want in a dish. We ended the dining experience with their Peach Cobbler Hand Pie, which came with streusel, pistachio crumble, salted caramel, and vanilla ice cream. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the area!

She then said you and your party can get out or I can call the cops. When I asked the clear manager in his outfit, requesting who the fake GM was, he along with the Bartender on shift played stupid as to supply her name. Cool, they can make it. what I got was a cup of coffee in a to go cup (even though I was dining in) with milk and a foam, so really what I got was a flat white. the other coffee ordered was a latte which was pretty standard I ordered the chicken sandwich ($12) which comes on a biscuit and a side of fruit, to round it out I also ordered the yogurt bowl which is yogurt and granola. When the sandwich came out it looked rather disappointing. The biscuit itself is small, probably the size of a Pillsbury dough biscuit, and the chicken wasn't much bigger. nothing else on it like a green, coleslaw, sauce, etc. just these two items. However, it did come with a side of a honey butter. the side of fruit was about 8 pieces split between pineapple, melon, and grapes. the whole sandwich was dry, which can be expected from a biscuit, but this was just too dry for me. the yogurt bowl($8) came in a small bowl that had a large flaring, basically the entire dish was large but the bowl portion was small. I eat yogurt everyday and the amount you get is probably half the size of a standard serving of yogurt (170g) and it was sparsely sprinkled with granola. my partner ordered a chorizo burrito ($15) and while she raved about the flavor the size of it was laughable, especially considering there are plenty of spots in LB that serve double or even triple the size of this burrito at or near the same price lastly, and the most disappointing of all, was the cinnamon roll($8). they were on display at the register and figured yeah I want one of those and instead of giving it to me right then and there it was brought with the rest of the food but it was not warmed up, which made me question why I waited for it. It was rool temp, burnt, and hard. I do want to try other items but the price you pay for what you get, especially considering this experience I had, is off putting.

The pastries are okay, but nothing unique and often dry. What I DO love from here that I've come back for a couple times are the Biscuits and Gravy. It's one of my favorite dishes so I try it at any breakfast place that serves them, and I must say, Steel Cup's take on B&G is one of my favorites. Their side of fruit has always been fresh as well. As far as atmosphere, it's a very pleasant cafe to eat at! Very open and airy layout with a decent amount of seating. The service has been moderately friendly. Maybe we'll try their drinks and pastries again simply because we live so close, but it's certainly not our favorite local spot for those items.

I came for the pink... I stayed for the FOOD!…read more I've driven past Mother's Kitchen countless times on my way to and from the grocery store, and as a gay man, I have to admit--the outside decor absolutely caught my attention. But honestly, whether you're gay, straight, or just someone who loves the color pink and wonderfully over-the-top decorations, this place is MADE for photos and special moments. At first, I thought this might be one of those places that was perfect for a photo op but maybe not much beyond that. Boy, was I wrong. We were seated by the window, which gave us the perfect opportunity to take in all the fabulous decorations while enjoying the details on our table. Then the food arrived, and we were genuinely surprised. The Mexican food was DELICIOUS. I ordered what I believe was the Mexican Steak a la Mexicana, and my bestie had the ribeye steak. My dish tasted like something my grandmother would have made. I mean that as the highest compliment possible. SO much flavor! Even the breakfast potatoes had flavor--which, honestly, you don't see nearly enough anymore. Everything tasted homemade, like someone was actually cooking from scratch in the kitchen. My eggs were perfectly scrambled, and every bite of my breakfast was just comforting and delicious. My bestie absolutely loved the ribeye as well. We enjoyed every single thing we ordered. And the service? Wonderful. Our waiter was attentive, kind, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. But what really made this visit special was the timing. We came here after a major life event, and being able to sit down with my best friend, eat an amazing meal, laugh, take in all the fabulous surroundings, and create a new memory together felt genuinely magical. Mother's Kitchen turned out to be so much more than a cute, Instagram-worthy restaurant. It was a wonderful experience from beginning to end. And the prices weren't outrageous either, especially considering the quality of the food and the entire atmosphere. Bring your friends. Bring your family. Bring your mother, your daughter, your grandmother--or bring someone special on a date. There's something about this place that makes you want to celebrate the people you love. I came for the pink. I stayed for the food. And I left with a new memory I'll cherish. We will definitely be back.
