Poor management . Showed up on a Sunday night . The place was 1/2 empty . We were told we needed to wait an hour since they were short staffed . They couldn't serve 2 people ??? This failure falls on the management . This hasn't been the first time I've had trouble getting served . I've been going to Daisy Mae's for over 20 years and have referred thousands of my vacation rental Guests to them . We headed over to rusty''s and were immediately served . Daisy Mae is an authentic gem! It's an authentic western steakhouse. Love the simplicity of their menu. I consider myself well traveled domestically and had my share of good steaks. Daisy Mae really injects the steak with a lot of flavor. Giving a steak a smoke flavor isn't easy. The ribs fell off the bone and the dessert was amazing. We had excellent service with Avery tonight! Prompt and soooo courteous! Our porterhouse, top sirloin and rib eye was grilled to perfection to medium. Great taste and a perfectly baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives. Our side salad was cold and crisp with blue cheese dressing. I've been wandering into Daisy Mae's since I moved to the Starr Pass area 10 years ago! I love this place. It reminds me of a western bar and steakhouse you'd see in a movie. The steaks are amazing and flavorful. You get Texas toast, baked beans, and a fresh salad with your meal. The Cadillac Margaritas are absolutely to die for. The baked potato is a bit too small but seriously it's my only negative. Actually, it's the smallest baked potato I've ever seen in a restaurant setting! lol! The price for a full dinner is about average for a Tucson area steakhouse. I'm an east coast girl and steakhouse prices, in New England, tend to be somewhat lower. The service is good and you receive your meal timely and hot. My family ordered Daisy Mae's during the pandemic because it was the right thing to do to keep our local restaurants open. We'd order the T-bone steak dinner for 4 and Cadillac Margaritas to go. The Margaritas would be served in a large mason jar! You got to love that! Go the Daisy Mae's and you'll go back. The food is phenomenal. The only reason I don't give it five stars it's because of poor planning by the management. This place is less than 2 miles from one of the busiest resorts in Tucson. That resort has conferences there year-round. So, why is it that this restaurant is always understaffed and claims they are "caught off guard" by the number of people who show up there to eat each evening? We waited an hour to get our food even though they were only four cars in the parking lot. This is unacceptable. We won't be back until they get the management figured out. read more

This place is pretty cool. The food is good, but it's not fine dining. I arrived with a large party, about twenty folks, on short notice. They were very accommodating and the service was good once they had a plan together, they held off on cooking our food because they assumed we were waiting for the rest of our party to arrive, which was not the case. The food was a good value. I had the meat lover's special, which was a few grilled wings, ribs, and an 8 oz ribeye. The food was good, but ribs should have been plated convex side up. We get the meat lovers platter chicken wings (the only ones I like) are not breaded or fried but grilled and full of flavor, fall off the bone ribs and a small steak cooked to order, (we spilt this, for 2 people) all dinners come with a salad (iceberg a cherry tomato 1 slice of cucumber and onion) beans, texas garlic bread. At the Tuscon Gem and Mineral show and looked this lil place up and tried it. Sis ordered filet steak and it was flavorful and tender ... cooked to perfection! I had bbq ribs, fall off the bone tender! Delicious! Drinks were terrific. The menu is not huge but since it's a steak house they do know what they are doing. Everything on menu looks great. The bbq area is right outside the bldg and huge windows let you observe your food being cooked. Kudos to that chef out there! Our meal was superb and customer service was friendly and wonderful. First time here. Meal was good, just not great. Ribeyes were cooked well, toast/salsa, beans and salad were all good. Nothing was bad, I've just had better elsewhere. There was plenty of food and service was very good. The one thing that was exceptional were the wings. I would return for them. Great flavor, slightly spicy, mesquite grilled. Best wings in Tucson. This is a hole in the wall place off the beaten path with great food. We had the ribeye which was super flavorful served with a baked potato, garlic toast and beans. We also tried the ribs which were equally delicious. For dessert, we had a warm slice of apple pie with a flaky crust and two scoops of vanilla ice cream. We took friends here for our first-time visit for they love steaks. I first heard about it on "TUCSON TREASURES." The meal began with a nice garden salad of iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. The toast was thick white bread with liquid butter on it. (I think it would add a lot to the meal if they served ciabatta bread with garlic-butter.) All our dishes came with a baked potato with chives, butter, and sour cream. Our friends said the ribeye was delicious. I had the salmon and it was perfectly done with that smokey mesquite taste. 5 stars for that. The decor is western and the seating is nothing fancy. You can watch the chef grilling up the food through a big window in the dining area. I was somewhat surprised by the small menu selection. If you're a veggie person, you can get halibut or salmon and that's about it. If you're a steak person, you'll be in heaven. Prices were high compared to other places we eat at around town. They offer a way to split your meal with someone for only $4.95 extra. That's a good deal. Our friends said they would come back but I think given the small veggie choices, it'll be a while before we return....with more friends who love steaks. read more

I'm sorry...but this was a disappointment on all levels. We went yesterday for my wife's bday and this place fell short on all levels. The service was horrible (our waitress at one point didn't come over once for 30 minutes), the atmosphere was bland, and worst of all the food was not only very expensive but TOTALLY mediocre. Our ribs came out room temp, our ribeyes were too rare, the baked potatoes came out still wrapped in tin foil, and to make matters worse the way it was served made us all feel like we were at a high school cafeteria...and our meals were all over $30. Do not let the word 'steakhouse' fool you. This is not a date night location, its an overpriced dive. We were seated in an addition with popcorn ceilings and a leaking roof, served stale tostitos chips and the most mediocre steak I've ever had. Everything about this place was cheap including the morton salt on my margarita rim. Our server forgot about us several times, didn't put in the appetizer we requested, didn't offer more drinks and held us hostage while we waited for the check. Daisy Mae's was on my must try list for years and ironically I finally made it in for a takeout order during the Covid lock down. You can smell the grill from a mile away! We ordered the 14 oz ribeye dinner. It is served with a baked potato, side salad, pinto beans and garlic butter toast. My husband and I split the meal and it was actually the perfect amount of food! The highlights were actually all the sides. The ribeye unfortunately was very tough. But the pinto beans were delicious! Smokey and bacony with a hint of spice. Perfectly seasoned. The baked potato was served with all the fixings- butter, green onion and sour cream. The salad greens were nice and fresh and we indulged in ranch dressing. The food is simple. I can't remember the last time I ate white toast with garlic butter. It was all worth it. Just wish the steak was better quality. It really was tough. But... Went for ribs the other night an hour before closing and ordered ribs. It took so long to get them, I figured they would be burnt and dried out. BUT, they were the best ribs I've had in Tucson! They literally fell off the bone the minute I touched them! They were perfectly done and piping hot! They even bought us dessert because of the delay in getting our order.
