Checked out based on recommendation from a local family member, after visiting Daisy his opinion still matters as the food was delicious. We arrived right at opening (4pm), seated right away. The staff was friendly enough, checked on us regularly, we only ordered water for drinks and they took awhile (had to ask 2x), but other than that good service. Love the outdoor set-up where u can see the meats being grilled, watching the fire & smoke just gets the mouth juices going. Went with the $40 Meat sampler, chicken wings, 1/2 Rack of Baby Backs, and Steak. I loved it all, meat was tender and cooked just right. The taste was different than your typical chain steak houses. The sides complemented the meat, the beans were a little flat, but edible. Texas Toast, Salad and Baked Potatoe were good, loved the sour cream/butter/chive mix and enjoyed piling it on my tater. Not much to look at inside and out but don't let that stop you from having some delicious bbq. If you wanna do one thing right, it's gotta be the best. The portions may be a little small but I also don't eat like I used to and it was perfectly fine for me. 4/5 only bc the price doesn't match the portion, it's just chicken! Wow, what a gem hidden right here in the valley of Tucson. On our last night at Star Pass Resort we wanted some steak and we were not disappointed at all. Great service, super clean, spaced out tables, employees wearing masks, and hand sanitizer. The steaks were cooked a little over medium but still tasted great. First time here last Saturday (9-8) for dinner. You go in and have the option of sitting in the dining area or the bar area, we chose dining area. We ordered ribs and chicken which came with a salads, hot baked potatoes (soft butter, sour cream & green onions included), Texas toast and ranch style beans. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, you don't even need the bbq sauce they give you on the side because the meat is seasoned beautifully. For me these are the best ribs I've ever had in Tucson, the meat just fell right off the bone. What I liked about this place was that a lot of people were eating with their hands, just grubbing away, it was awesome (my kind of peeps). Paul was our server and he did a superb job. Let me tell you a little something about what we do know. Daisy Mae's isn't a corporate chain of luxury steakhouses. It isn't for people who can't afford those. And it isn't an imitation of the real thing it IS: a classic western steakhouse. By analogy, I get the disappointment many people feel when they get lost in New Jersey and end up at a real Italian American red sauce joint untouched by the "improvements" toward post 1980s "authentic Italian" food. Had reservations for a party of 8 at 6: 45. Ordered food by 7, food had not arrived by 8: 30, server blamed it on the cook. Manager blamed it on the volume of diners and that they were short-handed. Steaks were good. No refills of bread or drinks. My daughters fish "fell apart on the grill". The server brought another piece of undercooked fish. Part of our dinner order didn't show up. Long time West side customers that have always supported and loved Daisy Mae's, but after this last visit was super disappointed to not only see the prices raised significantly at this West side staple, but more importantly the *quality* of their food having gone down. The wings are our personal favorite, and when we opened our $60+ to-go order, they were smaller than a finger! Side beans were missing, and the baked potatoe was comically so small. Walking in - there are two sides, lounge with tv's and a quieter restaurant side. Meats are listed on the chalkboard menu in the entry way. We went with the rib-eye and were as happy as can be. The small salads were fresh with more dressing choices than I can remember in forever. The Texas style toast is garlicky good, and the baked potato was ample. We skipped the beans and dessert - too full but maybe next time. Service was excellent. All in all, a terrific dinner that was homey in decor but as good or better than any fancy high end steakhouse. I was craving a steak and my boyfriend said he had the perfect spot. When you walk in it has a laid back vibe, kinda feels like an old country saloon. We sat by the front window and I was impressed that they cook all the steaks over a wood grill. I got the petite steak and my boyfriend got the porterhouse. The steaks melted in your mouth and were so tender. They don't need anything and I loved the smoke flavor. Do not skip the charro beans! I don't usually like beans, but these were so good! I'm a huge fan of the cowboy steakhouse genre. I'm just not sure Daisy Mae's won me over completely. On the plus side, the mesquite- grilled steak had great flavor. My husband and I split a T-bone and it was cooked to order (medium) and well-seasoned. What at first seems to be a drag of a $5 split charge is actually fair, because you both get a salad, baked potato, and unlimited beans and garlic Texas toast. Now for the downside- the salad is pretty horrible. As basic as they come, and drowning in dressing. (Definitely order the dressing on the side.) The beans were bland and the Texas toast was very cheap tasting, if that makes sense. The steak itself probably deserves more of a four star rating but then the sides and kind of cheap looking decor bring the score back to three stars. Last note: you might think at first that service is somewhat inattentive. I noticed though, that our server was slammed with tables and was running around the restaurant dealing with everyone. So try to take that into account when you don't always get tended to as much as you'd like. read more

It was Valentine's Day and we were in Tucson showing our relatives around, and looking for a good steak. Fortunately we came in early, before the crowd, because they filled up fast! First, I love a restaurant that puts their grills outside, in front of windows for all to see! These guys know what they are doing. The relatives split a steak, and they make it easy to share. They have options to just bring a second plate (no extra charge) or for each person to split the entree and each get their own salad and side dishes (small charge). I opted for the pork chop- very flavorful. The beans were great. Potato cooked nicely, and the ranch dressing on the salad was made fresh. My husband got the combo - ribs, chicken wings and steak. I think he was a little disappointed with the thin cut of his steak, it cooled off too fast. He was very happy with the rest. We had plenty of food to take home. The servers were all personable, fast, but friendly- taking time to explain the history of the place, menu options, etc. Although there are no real views from the restaurant, we enjoyed driving around the desert hills. read more

I ordered from their online menu and there was so much food it fed all 4 of us well. We ordered the porterhouse and the full slab of ribs. Every meal comes with salad, beans, baked potatoes and bread. It was a feast. For good measure we also ordered the cheesecake and Khalua mousse cake. After a couple years we decided to go here for dinner last night. FOOD WAS AMAZING!! Food quality was AMAZING as it ALWAYS ALWAYS is! We had the Grilled Buffalo Wings, Pork Chop, and Filet Mignon. Amazing entree's with Baked Potato, salad, beans. I did not take photos of the food because we were so hungry we ate everything. 5 starts for the FOOD. 2 stars for the atmosphere. Allow me to explain, first and for most I am sorry for exposing our server but she just did not do a good job. The name on the receipt said Claudia so I am assuming that's who she was. Maybe she is new to the industry and is still weak. But being attentive is very important. It should not take us 7 minutes to get a lemonade and coke. We got checked on at most twice, however she was too slow. As I analyzed the section she was serving, maybe she had about 4 tables max? Dinner service was slow as shown. However her attentiveness really could have been better. And just a respectful advice is to smile and look happy when serving.... The energy she brought to our table we felt like she was just mad the entire shift which rubbed off on us as we wanted to enjoy our food. Next, the bathrooms are beyond dirty and it's disturbing to go inside of the bathroom given this world we live in now where cleanliness is key. Photos indicated will show paper towels and toilet paper on the floor, there was not any toilet paper inside the stall, and that is not how paper towels should be on a sink where you wash your hands. Ants were everywhere inside the bathroom. And it smelled terrible. I KNOW Daisy maes is a traditional old fashioned steakhouse. But that does not mean that the bathrooms need to look and smell that dirty and disturbing. I also ask for the POS system to price match what is on the menu. Lemonade on the menu indicates $2.75, the POS charged us $3.00... I am not intentionally being stingy over the 25 cents. But it's something that should be consistent for others as well. At the end of the day we are all guests who want to be happy in the environment in which we eat at. As I stated, the food was so beautiful and amazing and can NEVER disappoint. However these are key reasons that I stated in which I believe can be improved in Daisy Mae's environment. I will gladly return for amazing grilled Buffalo wings and pork chop any day! But maybe I will do Take Out moving forward as the inside of the store needs to be cleaner, and the server needs to work on her character a little better as well. Thank you. read more

Horrible service, waited 40mins after being seated before our waiter brought our salads, then was served two unequal bowls of iceberg lettuce and ranch dressing, no veggies, no croutons, and was told this was the best he could do....15 minutes later, the table next to us received full, regular lookin salads... never got our drinks refilled through the whole hour and 45 minute meal, had to get our own extra napkins from the bar area....the meal cost over $150 dollars, the steaks were ok, but the service left a bad taste, that I just couldn't kick, never going here again, never recommending to anyone read more

This was my 2nd time here. First was last year, during the gem shows. It was good. Sat at the bar and food and service were prompt. This last time, though, also during gem show week, near everything was awful! We started out by ordering a bottle of red, which twice, we learned was sold out. We finally got wine on our 3rd attempt (for 5 ppl), but we got it served in water glasses, since they were out of wine glasses. Tacky, but I get the waiter wanting to at least get us something!!? I will say, I don't think things were the waiter's fault, but seriously, things in the kitchen were so backed up, it made him look bad. We waited over an hour for food (just the stater salads), and when it was eventually brought out, we didn't have silverware for 15+ min. I ended up eating my salad with my hands. When we finally got silverware, the meal itself was brought out. Steaks were warm and tasted fine, but my first baked potato was a brick, literally; the knife wouldn't go through. I got another, but come on! AND one in our party didn't get his filet for another 15 min after the rest of us!! (We were done by the time he got his steak) The waiter gracious offered us dessert, as a peace offering, so at the end of the meal when we ordered one, we thought it was a dessert per person but no, it was one for the table. Seriously... one for 5 ppl!!?? I mean, 3 of us ordered the $39 filet, and we got a guilt trip for thinking we each got a dessert per person...especially after the fiasco that we dealt with from the start!? Disgraceful. The waiter finally said we could get two (that he would pay for the second one), but seriously man, save the drama for the stage. Didn't help his cause. Then, we asked for new silverware for the desserts....gosh, don't get me started. We didn't wait AS long, but we had to wait many minutes. I don't live in the area, but I will say that next year for the gem show, I will go to another steakhouse in the area. The entire experience was disappointing, from start to finish. As a business owner, you should know that this week (with the gem shows) starts probably your busiest time of year. Plan accordingly. Just a personal opinion , but the lack of forethought reflects management. Sad, bc they're sitting on a real gold mine as a business. read more

Great service, and delicious simple food cooked perfectly as you ask. (Great job grill master). You can watch them cooking from the big glass window and inside we were sat near the fireplace which was nice. We started with grilled chicken wings the ranch is great with real buttermilk, chips n salsa then for entrees we had ribeyes comes with salad and baked potato with chives butter sourcream on side and basket full of garlic toast and beans. Staff is friendly and quick to help eachother taking care of all tables together. The menu is small and not extensive and what they serve tastes really good. I cannot wait to come back and try the bbq ribs next time. The grilled chicken wings were so phenomenal warm juicy and full of flavor a great change from the breaded heavy fried style. We brought our family to this old-time Cowboy style steakhouse and bar for a quality steak and Daisy Mae's delivered. The filet mignon was larger than the stated 9 oz, perfectly cooked, tender and complimented rather than overpowered by mesquite. The ribs fell off the bone with a tasty sauce and the signature steak was large and flavorful. We took advantage of the shared plate feature which meant that for $5.00 we were able to share the steak and each of us got a salad, baked potato, family style beans and toast. The service was very friendly, but as others have stated, it took quite some time for our order to be taken and our meals to be served. My suggestion would be to for the rolls/toast be served right away as this is the kind of place where customers arrive hungry. The atmosphere is old-time chuckwagon casual, from decor to place settings. You are paying for quality meat here, not ritzy ambience. We will definitely be back. read more

So the parking lot looked mostly empty, we thought 'great! Must be before busy hours.' We were wrong. We're in town just for the weekend and this place was recommended by multiple people at the hotel. Wish we'd have skipped it. We arrived around 6, waited about five minutes to be greeted/ seated even though we were the only ones at the door. Our waitress was friendly, took our drink orders right away. Iced tea and a coke. Didn't take too long to get that. I asked about the combo plates "whatever two meats you want! Add the two plates and subtract $5" Husband ordered the 14oz ribeye for $32 and I got the meat lovers for $40. Took about 20 minutes for our salad (the ranch was decent! Tasted like they use buttermilk.) and then we proceeded to wait 45 minutes for our food. Waitress came by twice in that time. "Food should be out shortly, we're just really backed up." Fine. Let it be known there were plenty of empty tables. We seriously contemplated leaving at this point. At 7:15 the waitress came by and said our food would be out in 2 minutes. At 7:20, our food came out. Yay! Everything was extremely hot and my hopes went right back up. My steak wasn't bad, nothing to write home about. Wings were hot but pretty much flavorless. Ribs weren't bad, fell right off the bone, but were a bit dry. Then we tried our potatoes and instantly knew why our food took an hour to come out. They had to have run out of potatoes because ours were undercooked. We ate maybe half of our food and were just ready to leave. $85 later we left mad and unsatisfied. We definitely looked forward to dinner, but unfortunately we were disappointed. We won't be back or recommending Daisy Mae's.
