I don't want to give anymore time or energy into this place even my time to write this out but this will be the last of it. I've probably come to this location 8 times since they have opened in a span of about 5 months and always joked with my partner how this place is so unorganized and we need to make sure we have everything. I mean whatever, people make mistakes but it's always someone knew at the window so who am I going to blame? Anyway today was the last straw. I order a vitamin water with a double chicken bowl no sour cream. Shrimp taco with 3 green avocado salsas and corn tortillas on the side. I quickly glance at my order and to my surprise they have the whole order!!! Believe me when I say this is a big deal. I drive off and I'm on my way home and decide to take a swig of my vitamin water, it takes just like water no vitamin (that's a joke) it was pretty diluted. I get over it and let it go. I get home to sit and eat and there is sour cream in the chicken bowl. Whatever, I take it out no big deal. I continue to eat and I go for my tortillas and the edges are hard. I'm on a roll. I go to pour my salsas. I wish I took a picture to show y'all what was in there. I should have ordered 10 to equal what I wanted. Nothing was in there! I can honestly say I will NEVER be going back to this location until there is a sign that says new management or new staff. This place needs to step their game up. This is not okay for anyone to have to continually "get over it". But you know what? I won't be putting myself in this situation again l. I don't have the bluntness to sit at the drive through window after receiving my order to make sure everything is edible. Don't order online, they don't pay attention to what you order. I ordered a bowl that was supposed to have corn and there was none. I ordered salsa since I use that for my salad as dressing and my husband likes it in his bowl. No salsa at all. I called and talked to Jose and he didn't give a damn. He said you can come here and I will fix it. I had ordered online for delivery since my car is in the shop. I told him I can't go there I don't have a car. He said well if you come here I can fix it. The most disorganized El Pollo Loco ever. Check your order closely every time. Last time chicken was missing. This time it was tortillas. After having to wait over 40 minutes to get some chicken cooked, they still could not get it right, or muster up a thank you for your patience. I will add that the manager is focused and bit overwhelmed by a very slow employee..They do have a very focused other worker that when i came back for my tortilla was very apologetic. This review is only based on the employees after my wife and I made 3 visits to the new location. First off, the food has been excellent. This chain really does a fantastic job of producing quality food, quickly and at a great value. The problem with this location is that they always seem to mess up 1 part of your order or seem to have the need to unnecessarily review your order 3 times, only to still get the order wrong. Double check your food everytime and make sure you have what you've paid for. They aren't doing it for you. We have decided to go to the Anaheim location from now on. I've ordered food from this location through the El Pollo Loco APP on several occasions. There is always something missing in my order, but I usually don't bother reporting it. Today 1/2 my order was missing. I was surprised to realize that this restaurant does not take any responsibility for missing orders. Although I did file a complaint with the delivery service I think it's fair that this restaurant also take some responsibility as food has consistently not been delivered, and that is not always true about this 3rd party delivery service. If part of the service (this restaurant) is able to not take any responsibility even if the order is through their APP, then that explains why their quality of service is consistently poor. First, this loyal 26-year customer is now an ex-customer and sincerely apologizes for yelling at the drive through window attendant last night by the time I got back to that window. To him, I must have been a man gone loco because they didn't give me my coleslaw. But there's more to this, and it's right out of every customer service training program available that El Pollo Loco has clearly never provided its front-line staff. With such an amazing and genius business model and brand as El Pollo is, one wonders what genius hires these people and then puts them in front of customers without supporting them with qualified and accurate prep crews - or leadership. Management? Non-existent, just like the coleslaw. Apology? As absent as the replacement coleslaw. This isn't all about the food's quality or lack of quality - it's about customer service delivery - it's beguiling that you guys can't get this right. When prepared correctly and consumed at the right time, the food quality is good. When the chicken has been on the grill too long, it's horrible - it shouldn't be served, your people know that, but they serve it anyway. There is no evidence of management or leadership presence, unsupervised and uncaring customer service staff - there is no training or supervision. This review isn't about the chicken - it's about a container of coleslaw (and previously, about a missing side of corn, before that the wrong selection of chicken, before that the wrong tortillas, before than two missing sides of corn - and this is all at one location. This review doesn't mention the experience in Downey where the store actually ran out of chicken - can you imagine that? What kind of brand error is that?). This message is one of CAUTION. Don't believe the person at the window who hands you your food. Check it and confirm. These people lie. In these days of pandemic drive through and take out only, with businesses and employees teetering on the edge of ruin, you'd think that a restaurant with drive through since day one, would get it right. Well, these guys don't. I asked the person if they were sure everything was in the bag. (Hmm, why would I have to ask that?). He said it was all there. Well, it wasn't. The "side" of coleslaw, one of the promises of something that comes with an order, wasn't there. Shame on me for believing him. We realized it wasn't all there when we opened the bag - at home. This sent a shiver of distrust of everything else that was actually in there. I dialed the number on the receipt. Twice. Each time the phone rang and rang and then dropped our call into an automatic disconnect. I decided this was the last time - ever - that we would spend our time or money at El Pollo Loco. I drove back and had to go through the drive-through again. When the person finally did respond to the order microphone, I said I wanted the side of coleslaw that wasn't in the bag. The response? "Sure." At the window, the kid walked back in forth of the closed window a couple of times without acknowledging the dissatisfied customer, then opened the window, and without a word, handed me a bag with something in it. Not a word. Not a greeting, no acknowledgement of error, no apology. I asked if that was the right size coleslaw and the kid asked to see my receipt and then read to me, "large coleslaw." I asked for the manager - no response. The bag seemed light and I asked again if that was the large coleslaw and the kid said yes. I asked for the manger again and he said there was no manager. (training tip - the customer doesn't want a "manager" just someone "in charge"). I grabbed my receipt uttered a four-letter profanity that wasn't "loco" and drove away. No apology, no regret, no manager, and when I got back home - the replacement container wasn't full. The correction to the problem was incorrect as well. It didn't look right so we didn't eat it. We threw it out. I'd be loco to ever trust these people or this brand again. read more

Ordered $80 of chicken. Paid with $100 bill. Manager said bill was counterfeit. I said "It is not." Manager said "Yes it is counterfeit." So I took bill to bank which verified the $100 bill was 100% real. Bottom line: I had to drive a half hour to get a credit card to pay for my food, which was now cold. Does the restaurant not have a reliable means to verify whether or not a bill is real or not?! El Pollo Loco has permanently lost a long time customer. read more

We drove through and they didn't have the burrito we ordered, but we only noticed as we pulled out. We did not get a receipt or get asked for a receipt. We literally drove back not 5 minutes later and tried to speak to someone. I get that you cant honor every person that comes back but I know mistakes can be made and it wasn't busy or rush hour at all. It was 9:15 at night. Instead of even apologizing, they kept telling us "no cerrada" in Spanish, after they tried to take our order the second time, because they don't close until 10. We paid cash, and the only thing I can think of is someone is pocketing the cash. read more

I am constantly amazed at how they get the orders wrong in drive through. Always missing something from the order. No pride in the product they produce. Avocado salad came with brown avocado and missing the pico de gallo. This is a very poor representation of El Pollo Loco. Honestly this place staffs the rudest girls ever. Whenever I come in here, I always am polite to the workers and I understand how it is in the service industry. I orders two chicken avocado tacos today . They gave me chicken crumbs with lettuce im ashamed to go back and ask for a refund its not even worth it . Its horrible other than the fact that when I entered they were all sitting in the front looking out the window . I saw they wore gloves I dont recall them washing there from the front sitting down straight to kitchen station without washing there hads I dont think they were all on break ... so disappointing. I like the show kitchen. Reminds me of the old el pollo loco stores. Staff was very nice and friendly too. I think they're still going through some growing pains, understandably. One bite in I pull out a long coarse dark black hair entwined why I'm the avocado slices. I have bright blonde hair. I called and they offered to replace my meal and refused to give me a refund.
