The overall reviews are mostly because it is a ghost kitchen with only two menu items priced at $18 each. Parking can be limiting as there's only a few spots in front with a parking lot in the back (depending on time of arrival it could be full). I ordered the Salted Butter Corn Cheese Shokupan and was not impressed. The top layer is crunchy and nicely seasoned, however the corn may be a bit off putting for those that are not used to the small pieces within the filling. You definitely need to warm them up for a better taste. Based on pricing and limited options, I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it from here. Per a ghost kitchen, it seemed empty with a somewhat fast service from order time to "delivery" (time to put in locker). I would find an alternative Japanese bakery that gives a more authentic atmosphere with more selection.

I had this ordered a week in advance for pick up in the Bay Area and it probably changed my life. It was so good. Texture, saltiness, butter, everything was perfect. What I really enjoyed is the instructions on how to perfectly warm it up. I will be back for you salted butter shokupan!!! Btw u can trust me bc I'm a self proclaimed bread connoisseur :)

I stopped by Ginza Nishikawa to try their shokupan. At first, I was a bit thrown off and I didn't realize it was located inside a ghost kitchen, so it took me a minute to find the place since it's kind of tucked away. Once we got our order, we dug into the bread right away. It was super soft, light, and chewy, just like you'd hope from a good shokupan. We also tried the honey toast. The bread on that one was firmer, but still pretty good. The loaf was $18, so definitely on the pricier side, but overall it was worth trying!

This is NOT a bakery you can just pop by to order. I got here and found a ghost kitchen. Tried to contact someone to order and was unsuccessful. Online system wasn't working either. Wasted time waiting here. I'll just go to cream pan

    Pathetic locker system.

Good quality of bread. But high in calories. My kids love it. However they don't come often to west LA

Let's just say, it's #approved for sweet tooth lovers, but not balanced for my palette. Starting off, there is a bit of a wait, maybe around 30 minutes before entering. The service made up for it though, very sweet and attentive workers. They even offered samples of the rosemary sourdough focaccia bread & their panettone bread, which my boyfriend and I enjoyed thoroughly. There's fair seating outside and some in the front, so it's good for families and large groups of friends to sit down & relax to enjoy pastries together. I just wish the hours were more extended! The matcha drinks were nice, definitely ceremonial grade and just the right amount of matcha richness and sweetener (custom syrups available, but it comes unsweetened). Overall, 4/5 rating. this is a SOLID bakery and we would love to come back again to try the other pastries! It lost points for me bc I'm not too big on sweets. The pain au chocolate was my favorite though! :) my boyfriend's favorite was the tomato & cheese pastry, 5/5 for him!! Also, I think it's pretty sick to see a bakery offer an extensive amount of butter options to eat with their sourdough. I'll have to come back and try their cinnamon roll! Also, be mindful that around 12:00 pm, there are items that get sold out first, so it's best to come early.

One can still imagine the affection imbued into their baked goods as you enjoy them. Unlike many of the others nearby who have crossed into "it's just a business" mentality. Run don't walk to this hidden gem! I will definitely be a repeat visitor.

Usually parking here isn't too bad if you're staying for less than an hour and easy to walk over to the dessert shop. Baked Banhs is located in the 4th street food market, one of the first shops you'll see if you're coming from the parking lot. Note the hours before you come (for instance, they're closed on Sundays and Mondays). And note that they seem to usually sell out of certain items by the days end. We've tried a number of different items here now including four of their canelés and their basque cheesecake. The cheesecake was solid. But we really loved their canelés. They are soft/moist on the inside with a nice crunch. And the different flavors really come through. Our favorite is the black sesame - not only is there black sesame peppered on the top but also in the center with a nice black sesame cream. It's so good and delicious. Four canelés cost $16 and thought they were well worth the price. Again, it's so sad to hear that Baked Banhs is closing soon so if you're a fan of canelés or other desserts, recommended to come sooner than later to try this out! We really hope they reopen again elsewhere or do a lot of pop-ups soon.

Their claim to fame, the strawberry croissants, taste as spectacular, light, crispy, airy, and deliciously subtle and fruity as much as the original location. The main problem is they definitely seem to have way less stock on hand, and things can sell out fast. I had to come back another day for my favorite item of theirs, the rusk - extremely light and crunchy bites of buttery sugared mini toast. I buy a bunch of these to take home as souvenirs, as the strawberry croissants obviously need to be eaten ASAP. Their employees were pretty friendly and helpful. I love that they carry bulk platters of their strawberry croissant and have them displayed right as you enter. They also have various other desserts and pastries, even some savory sandwiches and sushi, packaged goods, and coffee. I'm here pretty much just for their strawberry croissants and rusk, though their other items seem nice if you want goods for a convenient picnic.
