We stopped by here to grab some sushi for late night. They were so nice we walked in and they sat us down and provided us with menu and waters. We had some sake and some sushi and some hand rolls. We were probably one of their last customers for the day and i honestly couldn't even tell that they were closing they didn't kick us out or anything matter a fact i lost track of time could have been the sake but the sushi was delicious i really appreciate them. I would definitely come back.

My friend and I were craving dressed up oysters and this place looked promising. We were mostly there for the oysters, but the sushi totally blew us away, too! It was a pretty traditional looking restaurant with tables and a sushi bar. We opted with the sushi bar and it was super nice that the sushi chef just presented his food directly to us. He was so nice and it was fun to see how proud he was of his work. I got some nigiri a la carte: hamachi toro, chu-toro, sea bream, and jumbo scallops. They were all huge and super fresh! The chu-toro practically melted in my mouth so I can't even imagine how amazing their o-toro would be. The scallops were apparently directly from Japan and were also incredible. We also got a dozen oysters and they were so good we ended up ordering another dozen. They were fat and juicy and a bit creamy with the perfect ratio of brine and sauce. Overall it was a great experience and is a great place for a high end meal!

This place is great for a variety of special rolls and good service. We had the spicy edamame and it was quite spicy rather than the mild kick! The lollipop roll was meh and hard to maintain its integrity. The sunshine roll was really good along with the rainbow roll. The sensual pleasure roll with scallop was decent. The service was great and the staff was very attentive. The shop was very lively and had good dinner vibes of loud but enjoyable. The parking is a bit tough if you can't find any on their lot.

STEPH JUDGEMENT: Solid value in downtown Long Beach. The hubby and I tried this place for lunch on a Saturday a few months ago. It seemed like it'd be better than the previous sushi place that used be there (which I don't think I ever tried), and we were pleasantly surprised by how much we liked it. We ordered; - Spicy edamame - freshly fried with good garlic--great flavors - sushi and sashimi combo (pretty presentation, came with soup and salad--a good value) - pan fried veggie noodles with tofu (very good, with generous portions--appreciated this veggie option) It's not super-fancy, but the food was good to great and reasonably priced. Service was good also. Would definitely check out again.

Wonderful date vibe! We came here as a party of two on a Friday night and were seated with menus right away. The menu is easy to follow and has a lot of the classic appetizers, hand rolls, nigiri options, and special rolls! Here, the prices are fair! We ordered the fatty tuna nigiri, Long Beach roll, sunshine roll, and spicy tuna crunch roll. The food all came out quickly and beautifully presented. The Long Beach roll had a great crunch from the asparagus and the yuzu really added to the flavor. The fatty tuna nigiri had fresh wasabi on top, which is a must!! I also appreciate that this restaurant has its own parking lot. It's easy to get to and you don't have to worry about your car while you eat.

The food is incredible here. And you know how I know that. I did not even need soy sauce. The fish is so fresh and deliciously flavored. The amberjack and uni were my favorite by far. The rolls are also so delicious. The salmon was on point and the service was great. Definitely coming back!

Hubby & I were craving sushi & randomly found this place on Yelp. We came here for lunch couple of weekends ago. I was surprised how slow the business was for a Saturday. Ambiance was on the smaller side & isn't anything fancy but it was clean & cozy. There was only 1 server. She wasn't the friendliest but did her job well. She was attentive & did come by to check on us. As for the food, the menu is extensive with many different variety of nigiri, sushi rolls, sashimi plates, appetizers, À la carte, etc to choose from. We had the yellowtail carpaccio to start with & 9 pieces of nigiri each. Their fish was super fresh & the rice to fish ratio was perfect. Price point was fair to good. We don't live nearby but would come back again for sure if we're in the area. Would love to try their other items on the menu.

Visited: 11/8/25 Baked Lobster Roll: 9/10 ($16.95) Baked Scallop Roll: 10/10 ($16.95) Deep Fried Matcha Cake: 9/10 ($5.95) The interior is definitely on the smaller side, and because it's such a popular spot, we had to wait a bit before finding seats. Parking is also very limited! Make sure you're in the correct designated spaces since the lot is shared with another restaurant - Roscoe's House of Chicken & Waffles. (I got a warning as I had made this mistake.) That said, the food absolutely made everything worth it. The décor is cozy with dim lighting, and the presentation was such a fun surprise. Our rolls were brought out on fire, which made for an incredible photo moment. The flame went out quickly, so it didn't feel unsafe at all, just super cool. Flavor-wise, everything was amazing. The rolls were warm, creamy, and so satisfying. The deep-fried matcha cake was the perfect sweet finish (lightly crisp on the outside, soft inside, and a great way to end the meal after all the savory dishes.)

Wow, what an incredible disappointment This is the McDonald's of Long Beach sushi If you like loud sports TVs If you like loud rap, music blaring in the background with a sushi chef's singing along to the rap, If you like rolls that are very heavy on the fake crab and very heavy on the Americanized sweet drizzle You'll love this place . I grew up in Anchorage, where the Japanese restaurants are owned and run by the Japanese and their wives and children who created and served. Complex ingredient forward bites. My spider roll had virtually of no spider crab in it whatsoever. It was 80% fake crab. I'm used to a spider rill having a whole crab in there. Not a skinny leg hidden behind a scoop of fake crab. In my experience, a five star sushi restaurant makes this name by the artistic creation of balanced flavors that create an explosion of complexity in your mouth There's nothing complex whatsoever and any mouthful that I had. All the rolls were served in front of my face so I had a Service waitstaff armpit in my face every five minutes while I ate. How distasteful. Seriously. Classless. The house salad lacked the earthy flavors of most sushi restaurants. Once again, if you're an American, who loves sports TVs loud rap music rolls whose flavors are hidden in sweet syrup that are fake ingredient Forward, you'll love this place. Personally, I shall never return . Yelp steered me wrong. Sushi tempers here in Long Beach haven't had a real master spoil them. This is the McDonald's of Long Beach sushi

If craving sushi in Long Beach, stop here. The sushi bar was so cool. They styled it like a street side restaurant in Japan, complete with a roof overhang. Loved that vibe! April, our hostess and server hustled and was the sweetest. She was very attentive, friendly and fast! The sushi was great. ClassicLA style with that distinct flavor and great fish. We loved this meal and would no doubt eat here again if in the area.

My boyfriend and I were craving sushi and having just moved to down town we decided to go somewhere local and check out our new community! We came in with zero expectations as avid sushi eaters you can't always judge a restaurant by the cover but immediately upon sitting down we were impressed, the beautiful engraved wooden menus and beautiful decor inside. We got the soft shell crab and the calamari tempura and both were immediately our favorites! So crunchy and warm and the side sauces were a perfect addition! For our main rolls we got the crazy awesome roll, the California roll, the hell roll, the Long Beach roll and the so sexy roll. The crazy awesome roll came to the table flaming, I was not expecting such an experience to come with the roll, but it was so fun, and so delicious! By far the most delicious thing we ate. I also saw they served Nigiri Uni, and decided to try, would try again it was fabulous! If you are looking for a delicious fun sushi spot this is it! Definitely a new staple for us! read more

Hands down top of my list for Sushi in Long Beach and will now be my go to. We were quickly seated for our reserved table and greeted with such wonderful waitresses. Amazing! I've dined at a lot Of sushi restaurants over the years and this place ROCKS! My baked mussels were the BEST I HAVE EVER HAD! Something in their secret sauce instead of a clump of mayonnaise.... I'm a sashimi lover and the yellowtail was soo yummy- fresh, sliced perfectly and then presented so beautifully! The staff worked so efficiently as they handled a busy evening crowd. Beautiful setting in restaurant area but I always sit at the Sushi bar so I can watch all of their creations. I would order some of their recommended traditional rolls but the portions are too large for me so I go with a hand roll instead. I'm their newest fan since I just moved to LB! Thank you! read more

Love this place! I think the coolest thing about this place is how it is a little oasis from the kind of rough area. It's pretty small but they have a yelp waitlist so use that! Service is attentive and everyone is so sweet. The sashimi dinners are great but not a good of a deal as their rolls. I loved every single roll that I've had here! All of them were very generous portions. I've had the sensual pleasure, stinky roll, kimu roll, baked scallop roll (it comes on fire!). Presentation is great as well. The sushi down in long beach isn't great so I would go here if you're looking for good sushi when you're in the area! read more

Very clean and well decorated interior. Staff were friendly and attentive. We had miso soup, carpaccio, nigiri, 3 specialty rolls, and 2 hand rolls. The scallop hand roll was the show stopper of the night...delicious!! You can tell the fish is fresh and good quality. Presentation of every dish is beautiful and crafted with care. Sushi is off the charts delicious! Another top notch local spot we'll be frequenting. We sat at the sushi bar and watching each dish being prepared you can see the love that goes into each an every one. I was in shock of the detail and perfection of the Itamea...it was truly an artpiece on every plate. Then our food is delivered and it's presentation was on point. Best part the flavor, fresh fish and portion size were also perfection. And the service....fantastic!!! From the moment we walked in (we didn't have a reservation, but highly recommend as it's a small place) to the time we left, we were well taken care of. Drinks refilled, order taken timely with food delivered pretty quick, plates cleared frequently, constantly checked on...all, much appreciated!! A great vibe at this restaurant! It was small but well decorated and very artfully designed. The staff were so friendly and kept checking up on us. I can't remember the rolls we got- I think it was cucumber roll (not pictured), soft shell crab roll, another roll. I felt like the rolls had a thick layer of rice which isn't my preference. We found a great new sushi spot in South Bay! Friendly for those with gluten allergy. All rolls were great and you can't go wrong with what you pick. Service/ambience: cozy and friendly. Great vibes for a family/friend dinner or date. I wouldn't suggest for groups above 6-8. Parking: there is a lot but it can be right and busy. Some street parking nearby. read more

First time and chose this placed on the previous Yelp reviews and pictures of the various dishes. New ownership took over about a year ago. From the outside this place does not look like much and their neutral gender restroom is outside in the back of the restaurant. I was warmly greeted and sat at the sushi bar where I ordered the Dragon Roll and initially a salmon combo dinner only to be told quite some time after that they were out of salmon. Not an issue so I ended up with the sashimi combo which was very good. Sushi was very fresh and will definitely come back for the salmon collar which I saw was two pieces of salmon collar compared to one hamachi collar which most everyone is used to if they ordered that dish. read more

Loved this place. We started with edamame (and beer and sake), then got 4 rolls---the spicy tuna, salmon skin, salmon + avocado, and 911 special roll. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. Service was fast and friendly. It's small, so I'd suggest reservations if you can get them. The parking lot is a bit of a mess but we were able to get a spot. read more

Kimu Sushi makes a strong first impression with a clean, elevated interior. The wood slats on the walls make the space look refined, with touches of florals and foliage. Do note that the space is relatively small with few tables and gets filled quickly on busy nights. The fish here is incredibly fresh, especially the salmon and tuna sashimi, which were buttery-soft and served in cuts thicker than I've ever seen. The hamachi nigiri, while fresh, was a bit tougher in texture than expected. The shishito peppers came in a light soy/dashi broth, topped with bonito flakes that danced in the steam--a small, fun detail that always adds whimsy. While I enjoyed the flavor, I tend to prefer these peppers dry-roasted with just salt for more punch. The oyster shooters were packed with bold, layered flavors and beautifully served in sake boxes with the shell attached--but unfortunately, they came with bits of shell in the mix, which took away from the otherwise thoughtful dish. My sashimi arrived over a bed of ice, which looks stunning, though the cold temperature made the fish a bit too chilled to fully appreciate the flavor. It's a minor tradeoff between form and function, but worth noting if you're particular about temperature. Service was polite and attentive throughout. Dishes came out a little slow, but staff were quick to answer questions or check in. It wasn't overly chatty service, but it hit the right notes--helpful, professional, and respectful of the pace of the meal. read more

My friend suggested this new spot across from Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles, and I'm so glad I listened! First things first: I took advantage of their free sake (just check in on yelp) and you get hot sake that's enough for two people, and it's so good. For the main course, I went with the lunch sashimi combo. Now, it might seem a bit pricey on the menu, but you get a ton of food, the sashimi platter with 9 pieces of sashimi (chef's choice), Miso soup (just broth, no extras), a salad with a delicious sesame miso dressing, and a side order. I got the shrimp tempura, which was amazing, but my friend had the spicy salmon rolls, and they were also super tasty. If I had to choose, I'd probably go with the spicy tuna rolls next time because they seem to be a bit more filling. Overall, the sashimi was fresh and delicious, the service was friendly. I'm definitely going back to try more of their menu. read more

Best sushi place in Long Beach! Really fresh fish, beautiful presentation, consistently so good. Our favorite rolls are the salmon blossom (no rice roll) and crazy awesome roll (comes with a show!) service is always friendly. Outstanding! I would consider myself to be a bit of a sushi connoisseur, so I'm fairly critical of this category. I looked this place up here as we're not that familiar with restaurants in downtown Long Beach and their reviews were great so we drove over. To start, the building is so so looking, it doesn't really look like it's going to be stellar food but we've learned to trust yelp so we proceeded. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by everyone there and they were all genuinely happy to see us. The inside is nicely decorated and definitely has a Japanese vibe. We were seated immediately and had waters right away. I ordered two rolls and my wife one. They came out fast and boy were they tasty. Great mix of flavors and super fresh. Prices were fair. Great service, great sushi, great atmosphere. Cozy restaurant with parking and decent amount of seating. Lots of good options for rolls, hand rolls, sashimi, nigiri, and other Japanese options. We basically ordered half the menu at Kimu Sushi--and not a single bite disappointed. Every roll, every dish, every "let's just try one more thing" moment was chef-level perfection. The ambiance is super cozy, like the kind of place you want to settle into and just let the sushi magic happen. We came in as a big group (read: probably louder than we should've been), but the staff handled us like pros. Service was genuinely amazing--super attentive, friendly, and somehow didn't seem even a little bit annoyed by our chaos. Respect. THE FISH HERE IS FRESH and the SERVICE is PHENOMENAL! I highly recommend this sushi spot in Long Beach. I live walking distance so parking is not a big deal, however, the few times I wanted to stop by for a quick bite we had to kindly ask the Roscoe's security guard if we can park in their lot. Minus 1 star for parking. I highly recommend making reservations too. Without a reservation, especially on a weekend night, you're looking at 1 hr on the waitlist. read more

Food was pretty tasty. The timing wasn't great though. My dates food came out 10 minutes before mine did. He didn't want to start eating without me, so it wasn't the best temperature. I enjoyed the sushi rolls and the shrimp tempura appetizer. It's perfect for a date spot. I saw families here having dinner as well. the restaurant was popping! Every seat was taken when I arrived. The nigiri and philli roll were fine; standard and nothing to write home about. The sensual pleasure roll was so good I think I'd order two next time and it makes me excited to try out their other original rolls. The fish was fresh and rice was good and I'll be back. Like I had to ask for them again. Next we got our ramen and it came with a regular tablespoon. Which I didn't want to make a huge deal out of, but honestly that spoon is only given upon request so to get it out right is weird, especially at a ramen restaurant. I noticed every table around us automatically got the renge. I had to ask for the renge. On top of that I had to ask a random server cause our visited our table once to deliver the water and that it's. We had to ask for our check and for a box and for the renge. Quite ridiculous enough for me to complain about it in a review. Literally go somewhere else it's not worth the 70$ when it tastes like water.

We saw some very good looking chicken wings being served to other tables and plan to try those next time. Parking in this area can be tough at times however it's worth the effort believe me.

The manager, Bond, and the chef curated an off-menu meal especially for our family. The experience began with a comforting bowl of miso soup, followed by the exquisite taste of sashimi sweet prawn. The tender calamari, made with Japanese squid, was a delightful start. We then enjoyed very fresh raw oysters and mussels, each bite bursting with oceanic freshness. One of the highlights was the Kimu roll, a masterpiece filled with tuna and a variety of other fish, offering a complex yet harmonious flavor profile. The meal culminated with the main dish: a beautifully presented Omakase selection and uni sushi, each piece meticulously prepared to perfection. The presentation was a visual feast, with vibrant and expertly arranged sashimi. Our selection included king salmon, tuna, otoro, snapper, scallops, uni, sashimi sweet prawn, ikura (salmon roe), mackerel, kohada, and Hamachi toro. Pairing these fish with the Hakutsuru sake was quite a treat! Special thanks to our waiter and the manager, Bond, who went above and beyond to make our dining experience exceptional. Their knowledge of the menu and attention to detail to our needs made the evening even more special. They ensured that every detail was perfect and that we felt truly taken care of throughout the meal. We are immensely grateful to the chef for his incredible skills and for specially crafting this off-menu Omakase just for us. I want to address a deeply concerning experience I had at your restaurant, as I believe it warrants immediate attention. Despite having a reservation, we were not given reserved seating upon arrival. The service was extremely slow, which might have been understandable if the restaurant were busy, but this was not the case. When our udon was finally served, we were not provided with spoons, even after multiple requests, which made it cold by the time they brought them, which they did offer to heat up. The situation escalated when we received our bill and noticed two mochi ice creams had been added--items we neither ordered nor consumed. After pointing this out, the server returned with a corrected check but did so in an alarmingly aggressive manner, slamming it on the table so forcefully that it bounced. This behavior left my friend and I feeling extremely unsafe, prompting us to take the check directly to the register to expedite our departure. While I commend the chef for the excellent quality of the rainbow roll and nigiri, the overall service we experienced was unprofessional, unsettling, and completely unacceptable. The location aside.. the sushi here is amazing and it is one of my favorite places to go in Long Beach.
