This review is specifically directed towards the young lady managing the counter for dinner time on 5/7. To be blunt your service was lackluster and very unfriendly. If our family encounters you again, we will be turning away. We have eaten here several times and love this place. We arrived here for dinner after my niece's ballet recital. When we got there we walked in to ask if we could be seated inside. The waitress said to just sit outside. No follow up on how long the wait would be for inside. She was very short and lacked zero consideration. There were a lot of spider and cob webs on the outside tables. So we decided instead to order for take out although we preferred to eat at the restaurant. The waitress again showed any consideration that we preferred to eat inside. After taking our order we waited over 40 minutes before getting our food. During that entire time the waitress gave us no update on our order. In addition there was a couple who came after us. They got their food and were asking for the check before we even got our food! Absolutely absurd! We still love this place but if we see this waitress again, we are turning around. Came for a family dinner on a weekend night. It's in this long plaza near the freeway. There was plenty of parking that stretched around. The restaurant isn't too big but had comfortable seating for our party of 6. This is a Thai fusion restaurant known for their hainan chicken. I got the beef pad see ew and mighty combo which includes regular hainan and crispy hainan chicken. The combo was great for sharing for two. They even provide a set of four condiments which are labeled. 2 of them are best with the regular chicken and the other 2 are best for the crispy. But honestly I kind of mixed it up haha. It comes with fragrant rice with like crispy garlic oil. It was quite oily towards the bottom but was really good. Also comes with a cup of a seaweed chicken broth and cucumber salad. While I have had better Hainan chicken, this is definitely a more modern take on it. The pad see ew was also cooked really well. It's a bit on the sweeter side. There were many other options like Thai curry, soups, and appetizers so there's something for everyone's tastes. What an amazing little gem of a place Luck Gai is. We've been in a hospital room with our child being sick and needed some food (sick of eating hospital cafeteria food). I found this place from Yelp and stopped by for dinner. From the moment we stepped inside, to the time we left, we felt nothing but great hospitality. The food was also very tasty! We got a large combo plate of chicken rice which comes with 3 accompanying dipping sauces. As well as a vegetable stir fry (Going Green) with chicken. The owner ('s husband) saw me taking photos and asked what I was going to do with them. I replied "put them on my social media". He was so friendly and such a delight! My husband was disappointed since he thought there would be some crab legs in it which he saw from another picture posted on Yelp. They were also frugal with the squid and only put in one mussel. The good: I got the wonton noodle soup and the poached Hainan chicken in a size small for both. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is casual and trendy. They had a plethora of sauce options and spice/heat options (pickled jalapenos, Thai chilis, satay sauce, etc). The servers and waiters were friendly and quick. There's plenty of parking. I liked the small bok choy in the noodle soup. The presentation was nice. The bad: I thought the ginger sauce could've been tastier (more ginger flavor and less salty). This wasn't my favorite Hainan chicken spot. The interesting: They put the sauce jar directly onto my plate which I thought was weird because the sauce containers are communal and are used for other people before and after me. The wonton noodle soup had mushrooms in it and had a very mushroom/umami flavor. I expected it to be more like traditional Chinese wonton noodle soup but it was definitely different. It comes in two sizes. I'd say the size small is sufficient if you aren't too hungry. Otherwise, the size large is more of an average size. read more

It has been awhile since I ate in the restaurant. Two under two make it challenging to eat out. We typically order our favorite mighty combo to go, but I'm glad we stopped in. The current menu is much bigger than before and there's so many new items to try now. This time we added the Foxy Kiss and Going Golden. Both were great, but I think most of the Going Golden. It's not a dish I had prior familiarity with so I had no expectations. Both flavor and texture were exceptional. I enjoy crab in most forms, but I loved the sauce on top of light crispy fried crab. The Mighty Combos were great as always. The food itself is always a treat, but they also have fantastic customer service. The owners are always so friendly and attentive. Food - The hainan chicken is probably one of the best I've had in a long time. The texture is perfect. Usually with hainan chicken there's an issue where it's typically a little too slimey for my liking but this place does it perfectly. The breading as well on the fried version is very light and crispy, and has an airy texture to it. It also comes with 4 different sauces so you can try different flavor profiles with the chicken which is fun. I personally liked the sweet and sour (which in my opinion is the "right" answer") but the garlic and ginger meshed well with the dish as well. The munchy platter was overall very good but there were too many things for me to individually review each one of them, but it was definitely worth trying. The platter also comes with 3 sauces: a thousand island type sauce, sweet and sour, and a peanut sauce. The consistency of each of the sauces were extremely well done, specifically the sweet and sour sauce had a gelatinous type texture which was really good at coating the egg rolls when dipped. (Not depicted) we also ordered the kow moo dang which is a cha shu dish with rice. This dish wasn't that good as the cha shu was kind of tough and the sauce used on it overpowered the dish too much. I probably wouldn't order it again. Overall the food was great besides that dish. Service - the owner of the restaurant was extremely kind to us and the food came relatively quickly. Not necessarily a downside but just a forewarning to people with low social batteries, the owner is a bit chatty so just keep that in mind when coming in. Ambiance - the space is well decorated and even has an outside dining area but the ambiance overall is extremely inviting and is very cute. Overall a solid 5/5, obviously there's always improvements to be made but the recommended dishes were fantastic and the atmosphere and service were excellent. read more

We were shocked at how badly it tasted compared to previous times we've ordered this same dish. We also ordered the fried chicken mighty plate, pad thai, papaya salad, and panang curry, and noticed the portions for all of those had gone down, while the prices had gone up by a dollar or so. My husband and I used to come here often, for both dine in and takeout, and recommended this place to others.
