Service was terrible tonight as waiter was MIA most of our visit. He refilled out drinks once after 90 minutes. I had to walk up to the kitchen to ask for a sauce that the dish used to come with and for a side of lime. Male (seemingly the manager) told me to go sit down and ask my waiter for the limes. When I said he hadn't been in the dining room for 20 minutes since dropping off our food, he told me that well, he was the only one who could serve me limes. What a confusing and disappointing dining experience. Madam Maams isn't what it used to be in either service or quality of food. Okay so Madam Mam's has good Thai food in my opinion! I love their pad Thai, pad se ewe, spring rolls, and coconut sticky rice dessert. That said, I don't think I can continue to order from them! The amount of styrofoam used is crazy. It's really disappointing that they don't at the very least use a paper product slightly better for the environment than styrofoam. I don't wanna rain on the parade, but... I ordered the chicken wings with the garlic treatment, and the 'gyoza': the chicken wings were overcooked, dry, not juicy, but the main flavor was of out-of-date chicken. Maybe the oil it was cooked in was overused, but it did not taste at all fresh or even 'chickeny'--just tired. There was no flavor of garlic on the dish at all; I'm not sure how they achieved this. The 'gyoza' were fried; the wrappers were tough and rubbery: no Chinese or Japanese place I've ever been to would serve dumplings in this condition. The accompanying sauce was very sweet. I don't for the life of me understand how food like this could draw four stars on Yelp. Makes you wonder. read more

Madam mams is the place to go for Thai food! The pad kee mao is amazing and well spiced and seasoned. The chicken is also very juicy and amazing. The p46 was also one of my favorite dishes for beef. P46 has a sweet yet savory taste but nothing too overpowering. Personally I tend to avoid the sweet/savory combo however, this is something that I would order again! The wonton chips are to die for! I really love this location in South Austin! It's a big restaurant, very clean, and well decorated. Madam Mam's is definitely one of my favorite casual Thai eats. The food is always good and the portion sizes large. The favorites here are F11, the papya salad, P22 and P50. Honestly, you can't go wrong with the food here. I don't think I've ever gotten something that I don't like! The service can be hit or miss. This location can get kind of busy at times and there have been times where I ordered take out ahead of time and still had to wait an additional 10-15 minutes after I got there. Luckily they have a bar there that you can wait at. I would definitely say how attentive your service is depends on how busy they are. This place seems to have a lot of hiccups when they first opened like many new openings so we decided to wait awhile to try it out. Located in The shopping plaza at the corner of Slaughter and Brodie. We came in on a Sunday right around lunch time and were seated right away. Our waitress was attentive and although there was a mistake on my initial order they did correct it. We tried a stir fry noodle dish as well as a spicy noodle soup. Ohhhhh so good. Very authentic Thai food. I did the first step of spice and it was too much for me. So if you can't handle spice, go low. My favorite is the mango sticky rice. When you get your food to go, it's package so well. I got the papaya salad. They put the lettuce in a separate box to prevent the juices from wilting the lettuce. With the mango sticky rice, the coconut nut milk is on the side. It's nice cause you can set it aside and eat it later. If you order from their website, you can order sake and different beers. You can also leave the staff a tip on their website. I usually use a delivery service, but couldn't get the sake. Give the wings a try too. They are cooked to perfection, with many flavor options. I cannot handle too much spice, so I was afraid that it had 2 next to it. The sweet waitress assured me she doesn't like too much spice and I'd be OK. While it has some heat, it isn't a painful heat. The sauce was cloyingly sweet from too much tamarind, tiny bit of egg, a few overcooked strands of mung bean and that was it. Nothing fresh. This was my first Thai food experience and I was not disappointed! We started with the Madam Rolls just because we were super hungry and wanted a quick appetizer, super simple but tasty! My friend suggested the pad thai (F1) which I believe is a common dish, and it was so savory and full of flavor! She got the prik pao (P24) which I snagged a bite of - also tasted incredible, especially the veggies. Also, we went to lunch on a Sunday and were seated immediately; it was surprisingly not very crowded or loud. Additionally, the portion size was spot on with the price. This might be my favorite madam mams/saps location, and I don't say that lightly. There items unique to this place that is delicious, ie the devil wings which are these amazingly fried (very crispy and delicious) wings covered with a red curry like sauce, highly recommend. Their portions are massive and prices reasonable. Don't leave without getting their sticky rice. I'm not a huge fan of sticky rice in general but the one here blew me away, super warm, sweet, and soft. Lastly, the staff here is so friendly, nice, and helpful. Will be a regular here for sure. Wow, I really, really enjoyed Madam Mam's today! I came by for a late lunch around 2:30pm, and was seated immediately (as us expected). The service was fairly quick, I ordered a Thai tea with no ice (still cold, but it doesn't get diluted- I love that they have this option!). The tea came quickly, and some water as well. I ordered green curry with tofu and added some Chinese broccoli at an additional cost of $2. I really wish there had been some vegetables in the curry already- if you're expecting some, make sure to ask them to add it. My friend ordered yellow curry with chicken. Both meals came with rice! We also had the sticky rice with egg custard for dessert, which was a hit as well. Overall, the entire meal was extremely pleasant. Seems to me that they care more about quantity over quality. My food was heavy about 4-5 pounds of food for like $15. Worries me on how much low quality cheap items they put in these flat noodles and then fed to me. Thanks but no thanks. The lady up front had me wait because she was flirting with a customer who was tatted up and then when it got to my turn she was short with me. Madam Mam's holds nostalgic place in my heart from college. Ever since moving down to South Austin, this location has been a regular spot. My go to order is always Chicken Pad See Ew, Pad Thai, or the Amazing Green Beans! The amazing green beans are really spicy but also so delicious you can't stop. They also have a really great lunch deal for select entrees served with 2 egg rolls and a soup for only $9.50! The noodle entrees are large as is, so the lunch special is more than enough food for someone who is really hungry. Fast service and very large portions. First time having roasted Brussels sprouts and now I am a fan. The Pad See Eww was very good too and the portion was enough for 2-3 people. Unorganized, and lack of what I call security when it comes to modern processing of credit card orders... We wanted to try the new location but we were sorely disappointed with the service.. We were seated but our wait person never came by while other tables around us were at least been attended. Also I noticed that the patrons who paid with credit cards were given old credit card papers, where they took N impression of your card vs using a secure point of sale system.. Basically you are giving them your card numbers, while still a means of transactions, in a day with point of days system and even Square type of transactions, this was not a good impression. This place is down the street from us and I have been wanting to come here to try it. This is now our next go-to for Thai cuisine because of how delicious the food was and how reasonably priced it was !! And the service was great ! My hubby got a curry noodle dish, I got the pad Thai and we ordered the kids a fried rice and everyone was happy with how the meal tasted !!! We paid about $30 to feed our little family of 4! Ordered pick up during COVID. Between the two of us we ordered green curry, chicken pad see yu, and spring rolls. Overall the highlight for both of us was the green curry. We loved the spice level and the taste. It goes wonderfully with rice. The Pad See Yu and spring rolls left us lacking. The Pad See Yu the noodles are thinner than other places and also the flavor seemed very light. Spring rolls were solid but not memorable.
