We were able to catch sunset at the bar and grab some drinks before we all got seated to our tables. Complimentary bread with its kimchi sauce was extremely unique and delicious! Prime New York steak- best bone marrow I've had that was included with the dish. It was rich with a lot of good buttery fat. Steak cooked perfectly medium taste and paired really well with the sauce Australian wagyu filet- good simple filet fingerling potatoes were so good with it too Prime Beef Skewers with Spicy Miso- this beats the other delicious steak entrees . Juicy tender beef with a great complementary sauce . Adding wasabi to it was a nice touch Crispy Blue Fin Tuna- a good appetizer but a bit soggy. Came here thinking we had made a reservation for happy hour but ended up sitting in the restaurant area and ended up eating there.   The ambiance was 10/10. Dark moody lightning with a wonderful view.   Service was also really great. Our waiter was friendly, made good recommendations and reassured us that the choices we made were great! I love when they do that because a lot of time I am so indecisive and always wonder if I made the right choice.   The food no complaints here! 4 STARS Crab Fried Rice - 5 STARS - came with small pieces of duck and wrapped in an omelet. This was a super unique dish, and it was really good. It was a pretty big portion and was able to share with my husband.   Kung Pao Cauliflower - 5 STARS - we were on the fence about ordering this one but I am so happy we did. The sauce was incredible, and the cauliflower was perfectly crisp and fried.   Singapore Ribs - 3 STARS- These were good. A little on the harder side I'm more used to tender ribs. The glaze on it was really good though. I wouldn't get them again though. Hamachi Tostada - 4 STARS  - Delicious & fresh! Ube Cheesecake - 5 STARS - THIS STOLE THE SHOW. My wife surprised me for my birthday by telling me to be ready by 7p, we are getting a chauffeur so we can drink and we are going to have a good time. That's pretty much all she relayed to me. We got dressed, pregamed, and hopped in the black suv. When we arrive, the chauffeur tells us he'll wait downstairs and to just text him when we are ready. He lets us out in front of the sunrise hotel in West Hollywood. I walk into a pretty busy bar area that doesn't look anything fancy but they tell us to head up stairs...Yo all I can say is, It was like I was transported somewhere else. This place is beautiful. The hostess and service was top notch and the views were amazing! My wife told them it was a special occasion so they gave us a great seat which overlooked the city. We ordered a few drinks and of course I ordered crispy rice and Shanghai Lobster with a beef wagyu skewer. The drinks, the food and the view were all perfect capping off an amazing birthday evening. I went on a Saturday night to celebrate my brother's bday and oh boy is this restaurant beautiful! It was so empty around 5:30 until there were a few more tables filled up 2 hours later - but still nowhere near full capacity. The view is drop dead gorgeous, and the service was amazing. We even had service on the broccolini side and a birthday cake. My favorite has to be tempura branzino, which is off the menu. So crispy and so flavorful. But every single dish here is really a hit for me. I'd order everything again honestly. It's 100% worth it for any occasion as long as y'all can afford the great view & great food! My parents were staying at the sun rose last week and we got together for an early Thursday night dinner with views. Dinner was called for 6 but my brother was running late, so I had a glass of Chablis at the bar and caught some of the Eagles game (go birds). Once our full party arrived - mom, dad, brother, & grandma, we went to sit in the back. Desmond was an awesome waiter and made sure to take note of all my allergies. Not easy eating at Asian fusion when you can't have; soy, sesame, or shellfish but the food did not disappoint. My parents loved the ribs & I shared the duck with garlic fried rice (substitute for allergies) with my dad. Tomato salad pictured below was great to share and so was the tostada. My son and I had an amazing evening. It started with the kind maître d who seated us at the comfy beautiful bar while our table was being prepared. My son picked the beef dumplings that were simply a delight for the palate. I had the incredible shrimp and duck rice and he had the lobster spring rolls. Next time we will order 2:). *Delayed post from Jan '25. WOW! What an incredible experience at Merois. One of the best meals in LA to date. The staff was extremely attentive, refilling water, clearing plates, and providing new silverware before we even noticed. They took pictures of our group in multiple spots as well. The views are spectacular and I highly recommend coming here for special occasions, even if it's just to check out their bar and dessert menu in the smaller area next to the dining room. The passion fruit sauce that accompanied the Spring Garlic Brioche was mouth-puckeringly delicious and unexpectedly spicy, but not overpowering. It paired well with the Creme Fraiche and Caviar, which cooled down the spice and added saltiness, but the biscuits we received were on the smaller side. Not sure we really needed them at all. The Brussel Sprouts were well coated in a creamy sauce, yet retained their crispy texture. I thoroughly enjoyed the aromatic spice from the Mustard, similar to the effect of Wasabi or Horseradish, but not as intense. The Blue Fina Tuna Rice Cakes were very crispy and contrasted the delicate fish on top well. I enjoyed the balance of acidity and sweetness of the Ponzu. We ordered the Wagyu cooked at medium. It was extremely tender and featured just the right amount of charcoal flavor. Thankfully the Chimichurri wasn't too oily, though it was very acidic from the amount of lime used. It punches you in the face in a good way! The accompanying potatoes were crispy on the outside and buttery soft in the middle. Cauliflower was properly battered, giving it a satisfying bite. It balanced sweet and spicy well, but was too salty. Mixing it with the Crab Fried Rice helped so the saltiness was spread out amongst the egg and duck. The Red Tai Curry had a nice lingering spice similar to a Habanero, but the coconut milk was nice to reign in the heat.The texture of the mushrooms in this dish were so satisfying! Not mushy at all. The Shrimp was well cooked, juicy without becoming rubbery. Once again this dish exemplified their ability to balance sweetness from the pineapple and spice from the curry. The Peking Duck was extremely well done. They rendered the fat properly and slightly undercooked the meat to allow for the best texture and flavor without too much grease. I started with the Kurobuta Pork Skewers with chili paste marinade and pineapple sambal, and they were phenomenal. The pork was incredibly tender, with that perfect caramelization on the outside, and the pineapple sambal added a sweet-spicy kick that kept me coming back for more. The Kung Pao Cauliflower was a revelation. Sichuan pepper gave it that tingly heat, and the peanuts added the perfect crunch. Even as someone who usually gravitates toward meat dishes, this was impressive. For the main, I went with the Crab Fried Rice with Peking duck, dashi omelet, and garlic chives. I requested charred rice and a soft omelet, and the kitchen nailed it. The smoky, crispy rice bits contrasted perfectly with the creamy omelet, and the crab was generous and sweet. This dish alone is worth the visit. The crispy spinach was a simple but addictive side--light, crunchy, and well-seasoned. What really elevated the experience was the service. We didn't realize this was part of Wolfgang Puck restaurants until the day of. I've been to Spago and was not a fan, and was scared that this place would also be the same. I was pleasantly surprised and would absolutely recommend Merois. Restaurant is located at the rooftop of the Pendry hotel. The hotel has parking and the restaurant validates. It's $25 for the first 2 hours with validation and $5 for each 30min after. The view inside is amazing, overlooking g the city. Service was also top notch, welcoming and friendly. Food was also great quality, seasoned perfectly and a fusion of Japanese and American. I would recommend the lobster spring rolls. It comes with 2 rolls each cut in half. The cauliflower was also really good. The meatballs were good but probably my least favorite out of all the appetizers we tried. Hands down the crab fried rice was the best. Big portion size and a combo of crab and duck. I usually don't eat duck because I feel it's gamy but I couldn't even taste it, that's how well it was seasoned. I've eaten my way through half the menu and haven't met a single dish I didn't love: the chicken meatballs, crab fried rice, and dumplings are my personal faves. Cocktails? Dangerously well made. Located at the top of the Pendry West Hollywood Hotel, it was the perfect intimate vibe. The hotel is located at the corner of a street around the corner for entrance and has valet parking that can be validated at the restaurant and costs $20. Margarete was our waitress and such a joy! Super friendly, very accommodating, and gave great recommendations! The food was amazing and I was not expecting to get as much variety and quantity for the price. The highlight for me was definitely the Oysters which were super delicious and had great accoutrements! This year for my birthday we tried their dinner! Everything was delicious but the most memorable: Medium Rare Wagyu Filet Peking Duck Medium Rare NY steak Brussel sprouts Spikey Lemon Calamansi Cake Ube Basque Cheese Cake I was really impressed that they rolled out the whole duck and carved the white meat to serve at our table. I was raving about the skin perfectly lightly crisped and fatty and around tender meat complimented by a familiar duck sauce without overpowering the duck's flavor. BTW It can definitely feed more than two especially if you're ordering other items. Both the wagyu and NY strip was absolutely best served medium rare. I was very surprised at how wasabi vinaigrette complimented the Wagyu so well without it being overly spicy. Also, the New York strip was a very thick cut and the accompanying bone marrow and greens really added to the special flavor experience of the steak. The mustard and bacon bits sauce on that brussel sprouts was incredible. Also the sear created a flaky crisp on the outer layers of the veg. It was just right! Also, I really liked their White Pearl Drink. Watch out for that spicy kick. And of course we already knew we were gonna enjoy the Spikey Lemon and Ube Cheese cake! They are consistently rich, distinctly flavorful highlighting their ingredients very specifically. You can recognize the calamansi and ube flovors really well. Really glad that the crab fried rice went well with everything. And surprisingly, we found that the curry was overshadowed by the other items. Notable: The service was very friendly and they love to talk. The new general manager was extra attentive. I especially loved our server Kheani (forgive my guess at the spelling), K had great best friend energy, kept great pace in checking in with us, and bonus she did an above and beyond effort taking group photos of us that included the city background. Unfortunately, our drinks however came slower than we liked, especially when our coffee came way after we were done with our dessert. The ambience of course is impeccable. Although, the lighting can feel too dim and the table too small for 4-5 guests when the orders starts coming in. It's quite clear - and pretty absurd - that the kitchen and management doesn't uphold the qualities once instilled by their founder, Wolfgang Puck. Then again, maybe the Chef's focus has shifted and he's more concerned about frozen pizza and airport food courts than his "high end" restaurants. We came by Saturday for lunch and one of the absolutely undeniable positives about Merois is the space. It's gorgeous with amazing views of the city. Although it's connected to the hotel pool, it wasn't loud to interfere with our meal. However, on a Saturday at noon, up until we left at 1:30, there were at most 4 tables occupied between the main dining and the bar areas. A bit intriguing if you ask me. I started off with the 'doctor's orders' cocktails. The seaweed was a bit strong and threw off the flavor but once I took it out, the cocktail itself was smooth and had great flavor. We started off with the ora king salmon which seemed to imitate - but not quite meet - Nobu's tiradito or new style sashimi. It was good but nothing great, the flavors were mild and it just didn't have that "wow" factor. We shared a few main dishes including the crab fried rice, Singaporean ribs, New York steak, and chinois salad. The crab fried rice was so bland and dry. The crab chunks had no flavor. The rice was no better than what any average cook can make at home or what any average Chinese take out has to offer. The chinois salad was the most underwhelming. Bland on bland. Hardly any dressing, and not that we want our salad drenched in it, but enough to taste what the salad is supposedly famous for. The ribs actually had amazing flavor but they were charred beyond belief and it seems like they were day(s) old with how dry they were. And the steak actually had a good sear but half of it was rare and the other half was medium. It's like they only put half on the heat more to continue cooking. The bone marrow with it was good and the miso sauce was decent but tasted too diluted. Why didn't we mention this at the time we ate? Quite frankly we were so disappointed that we had no hope of any revival or fixture the kitchen could offer, considering how poorly the initial execution was. We did reach out directly to the restaurant after and received this tired old, corporate emotionless response: "On behalf of the entire Merois team, we'd like to apologize for the experience you had during your recent visit. Our highest priority is to ensure that we meet the standards of our valued guests; we are sorry to hear that we fell short of your expectations. The feedback you have shared is important to us, and we will use it to continue to improve our service. If need any further assistance please feel free to reply directly to this email." Absolutely the best service from Amadeus. He single-handedly made our dining experience at Merois one of the best we've ever had at any restaurant. He went above and beyond and was just so knowledgeable about all of the offerings that the restaurant had to offer. The week that we stayed at the Pendry for my daughter's birthday was made extra special with the special treatment that we were showered at Merois and because of this, In fact we dined there everyday. Our favorite entree was the Huevos Rancheros. It was just so well plated and very tasty. Because we like extra spice, Amadeus made sure to bring us sriracha and aioli for my daughter and hot sauce for me. He anticipated our every need. The view of LA from the rooftop was just fantastic. I loved the food and experience initially but my second time there was a bartender who was mean to some German guests that didn't understand and she intentionally ostracized them from the pool. I defended them and she had me escorted out because I said that she was being mean for no reason. The food and drinks are nice but that one bartender made it so traumatic for me an I don't want anybody to experience her ever. She has tattoos and her hair in a ponytail. To be completely honest, the 4 stars is for the ambience, our waitress, and the Australian wagyu filet. The rooftop is a gorgeous setting for a nice dinner, but the food was not impressive. Located inside the stunning Pendry hotel, your only parking option is to valet for $20 with validation or somehow find street parking. We shared all of the dishes we ordered including the bluefin crispy rice, hamachi tostada, kung pao cauliflower, crab fried rice, and wagyu filet. The bluefin was super fresh but not the most flavorful crispy rice I've had. The hamachi tostada was a refreshing light dish. Kung pao cauliflower had mild flavor. Crab fried rice was presented beautifully and there were generous chunks of crab, but kinda mid otherwise. The wagyu filet was cooked to perfection and was incredibly tender. It was a special night at Wolfgang Puck's Merois restaurant situated on the rooftop of the Pendry hotel in the heart of Weho's Sunset Strip. The various penthouse views afforded a panoramic sight of all of Los Angeles South as well as seeing houses clinging on the hillsides of the Santa Monica Mountains.  Marqués de Murrieta Estates & Wines presented a Rioja Wine Dinner with associated multicourse Spanish influenced cuisine. International Director Arthur Lencquesais was there to edify us into the characteristics & history of his premier wines.  Naureen Lyon, L.A. District Manager of Maisons Marqués et Domaine presented her Ramos Pinto White Port that pairs well with many desserts.  1) Petits Fours: a. Lamb Polpette/meatballs covered Membrillo/quince glaze & sweetened Sauce Demi-Glace garnished with Granada/pomegranate, mint leaves.  b. Lox, Caviar, egg yolk on toasted Brioche  c. Lobster Éclair dressed with Estragon/tarragon Aïoli.  d. Fromage Blanc, Truffled Honey, Sea Salt, Walnuts, Ruccola/Arrugula microgreen on toasted Brioche.   All paired with Pazo Barrantes Albariño 2021. Lamb could have paired better with a Rioja red. 2) Tuna Tataki: Not really a Japanese Tataki since the tuna was not surface seared. It was more like in a marinade. Tuna was resting in 28 month oak barrel aged soy sauce which then should be called Zukè. Arbequina olive oil added a slick of sweet-bitter butteriness.  Perhaps adding a touch of sea salt would have added minerality to enliven the flat tasting tuna.  Paired with Marqués de Murrieta Rioja Reserva 2018.  3)) Crowning glory by Executive Chef Matt Dahlkemper:  Cochinillo Ibérico de Bellota is a special breed of northern Spain. During fall when acorns fall from tall oaks, the pigs are allowed free range to pig out on the nuts to create a luscious, fatty, meatiness. In this case, the little piggy was born too early or too late to ingest the acorns. But his parents may have hogged out on the acorns.  Perhaps a Thai sweet chile sauce would have enhanced the sweet, fatty pork, but this was Spanish themed. However, the vinegar fermented Giardiniera added a good, clean contrasting gastrique to cut the fattiness. A whole suckling pig was slow baked so the skin is crisp. Layer of smooth melt in your mouth, porky fat. Then a sweet, porcine meatiness. Some parts had a slight gamy, barnyard funk that went well with Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2011.  a. Roasted Asparagus, whipped Spanish Manchego Crema  b. Gem Salad Greens, Spanish Marcona Almonds, Jerez Vinaigrette    4) Basque style Cheese Cake Verrine/served in a tall glass cup by Executive Patissier Sylvain Piffeteau.  Vanilla scented pudding with strawberry & basil confit. Paired with Ramos Pinto White Port that is reminiscent of Haut-Sauternes. Our sommelier, Allan Camarena, that night was amiable, informative, congenial. Staff was on point. Sitting above the Sunset Strip and seeing the city of L.A. at our feet in the pleasing coolness of a June night made four hours seem too soon to be over.  5 stars just for this special Spanish wine dinner occasion. read more

Great view and vibes for a date night spot or special occasion. It's a pretty good view of WeHo and even Culver City with a slight view of DTLA from afar on the rooftop. The Hamachi Tostada is super refreshing and the crab fried rice is so good, like a omurice with plenty of crab. All the dishes are pretty shareable in terms of portion and big which I wasn't expecting. For the value, I think this definitely hits the spot in terms of quality and location. This restaurant has some delicious food and some that is ok at best. Let's start with the ambiance. The hostess was Amazing and she gave us advice on what to order. Our server was also great. It is on the rooftop of a trendy hotel. But it felt kind of empty. The restaurant has a pool and the patrons were dressed all very casual. It doesn't come off like some of the more trendy spots across the street at the Mondrian. We went for one of our anniversary dinners and although images make it seem trendy cool, it's not. Now the food. The rolls they bring to the table I would eat 6 dozens of for breakfast lunch and dinner. They are stuffed with some kind of kimchi cream cheese and some spectacular dipping sauce. Then we had the beef dumplings. The flavors were deep, nuanced and we wanted another order. That was followed by an item on all sushi menus these days, spicy tuna and fried rice. The tuna was fresh and the rice was not deep fried but crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. There was not one miss until the main course. The crab fried rice was not good. It had a vegetable medley that tasted out of the frozen aisle and wrapped in an egg crepe that tasted and felt like plastic in your tongue. Then we ordered the whole fried fish. It was rock cod (which is not in the cod family) tempura style. It was deboned that was really awesome but the fish was overall bland even with the sauce. We ordered soy sauce, chili sauce and more pineapple glaze which helped the flavor that needed balance and more seasoning.
