My wife surprised me for my birthday by telling me to be ready by 7p, we are getting a chauffeur so we can drink and we are going to have a good time. That's pretty much all she relayed to me. We got dressed, pregamed, and hopped in the black suv. When we arrive, the chauffeur tells us he'll wait downstairs and to just text him when we are ready. He lets us out in front of the sunrise hotel in West Hollywood. I walk into a pretty busy bar area that doesn't look anything fancy but they tell us to head up stairs...Yo all I can say is, It was like I was transported somewhere else. This place is beautiful. The hostess and service was top notch and the views were amazing! My wife told them it was a special occasion so they gave us a great seat which overlooked the city. We ordered a few drinks and of course I ordered crispy rice and Shanghai Lobster with a beef wagyu skewer. The drinks, the food and the view were all perfect capping off an amazing birthday evening. I will 100% be back again! OOOOO 5 out of 5 Afros

I went on a Saturday night to celebrate my brother's bday and oh boy is this restaurant beautiful! It was so empty around 5:30 until there were a few more tables filled up 2 hours later - but still nowhere near full capacity. The view is drop dead gorgeous, and the service was amazing. We even had service on the broccolini side and a birthday cake. My favorite has to be tempura branzino, which is off the menu. So crispy and so flavorful. But every single dish here is really a hit for me. I'd order everything again honestly. It's 100% worth it for any occasion as long as y'all can afford the great view & great food! Hopefully they get more traction as I would hate to see this place close down :(

My parents were staying at the sun rose last week and we got together for an early Thursday night dinner with views. Dinner was called for 6 but my brother was running late, so I had a glass of Chablis at the bar and caught some of the Eagles game (go birds). Once our full party arrived - mom, dad, brother, & grandma, we went to sit in the back. Desmond was an awesome waiter and made sure to take note of all my allergies. Not easy eating at Asian fusion when you can't have; soy, sesame, or shellfish but the food did not disappoint. My parents loved the ribs & I shared the duck with garlic fried rice (substitute for allergies) with my dad. Tomato salad pictured below was great to share and so was the tostada. Wolfgang restaurants never disappoint and I'll definitely be back.

My son and I had an amazing evening. It started with the kind maître d who seated us at the comfy beautiful bar while our table was being prepared. My son picked the beef dumplings that were simply a delight for the palate. I had the incredible shrimp and duck rice and he had the lobster spring rolls. Next time we will order 2:). Please give our compliments to all the staff that smiled at us. Which was Everyone! Hospitality here is genuine and seeps into every cell. In closing, our awesome, kind, attentive and well informed Marguerite remembered what I had the last time I had been there and.... She is a diamond that brings a layer of care and love that mirrors the beauty of the floor to ceiling glass that immerses everyone into a heavenly dining experience. She spreads genuine love, happiness and care to all the staff that are an integral part of the total experience. I cherished every detail and moment and the ube cheesecake and the calamansi lemon spiked cake are the closers for a meal artfully inspired, delivered and devoured. Looking forward to my next Memorable Merois experience:). Thank you again and again!

This was a fantastic evening! Our handsome waiter Desmond was awesome. He answered questions about the extensive menu, offering descriptions of each dish to help us choose. My friend ordered a glass of rosé champagne which she loved. I had a non alcoholic Peroni. I ordered the lobster spring roll to start, she had the hamachi tostada. Both excellent. Large portions. We followed with the crab fried rice and crispy rice crab salad. We love seafood. Wow. It was epic. Slightly spicy and very delicious. Desmond brought us a slice of decadent chocolate cake to celebrate our birthday dinner. Did I mention the views? An experience not to be missed. We will be back.

Brenda provided an incredible service from start to finish. She was extremely kind, always smiling, and very attentive to every detail. She made sure we felt comfortable and well taken care of throughout our visit. The restaurant was very calm, creating a very relaxing atmosphere. The food was also absolutely delicious, and everything exceeded our expectations. The view of Downtown Los Angeles was stunning and made the experience even more special. Thank you, Brenda, for such excellent service!"

*Delayed post from Jan '25. WOW! What an incredible experience at Merois. One of the best meals in LA to date. The staff was extremely attentive, refilling water, clearing plates, and providing new silverware before we even noticed. They took pictures of our group in multiple spots as well. The views are spectacular and I highly recommend coming here for special occasions, even if it's just to check out their bar and dessert menu in the smaller area next to the dining room. The passion fruit sauce that accompanied the Spring Garlic Brioche was mouth-puckeringly delicious and unexpectedly spicy, but not overpowering. It paired well with the Creme Fraiche and Caviar, which cooled down the spice and added saltiness, but the biscuits we received were on the smaller side. Not sure we really needed them at all. The Brussel Sprouts were well coated in a creamy sauce, yet retained their crispy texture. I thoroughly enjoyed the aromatic spice from the Mustard, similar to the effect of Wasabi or Horseradish, but not as intense. The Blue Fina Tuna Rice Cakes were very crispy and contrasted the delicate fish on top well. I enjoyed the balance of acidity and sweetness of the Ponzu. We ordered the Wagyu cooked at medium. It was extremely tender and featured just the right amount of charcoal flavor. Thankfully the Chimichurri wasn't too oily, though it was very acidic from the amount of lime used. It punches you in the face in a good way! The accompanying potatoes were crispy on the outside and buttery soft in the middle. Cauliflower was properly battered, giving it a satisfying bite. It balanced sweet and spicy well, but was too salty. Mixing it with the Crab Fried Rice helped so the saltiness was spread out amongst the egg and duck. The Red Tai Curry had a nice lingering spice similar to a Habanero, but the coconut milk was nice to reign in the heat. The texture of the mushrooms in this dish were so satisfying! Not mushy at all. The Shrimp was well cooked, juicy without becoming rubbery. Once again this dish exemplified their ability to balance sweetness from the pineapple and spice from the curry. The Peking Duck was extremely well done. They rendered the fat properly and slightly undercooked the meat to allow for the best texture and flavor without too much grease. I enjoyed that they carved the duck next to our table as well!

It's one of those peaceful- quiet spots on Sunset that IYk-YK. It has a great video of the city, amazing service, and delicious drinks. Their oysters are so fresh and yummy. The servers are so nice and attentive. Highly suggest it if you want to actually sit, enjoy your drinks and have a great convo without so much noise and extra music.

Perched atop a five-star hotel, Merois is the kind of elevated dining experience that reminds you why LA's rooftop scene is unmatched. This isn't just a pretty view with mediocre food--the French-Japanese-Asian fusion cuisine here is thoughtful, flavorful, and executed beautifully. I started with the Kurobuta Pork Skewers with chili paste marinade and pineapple sambal, and they were phenomenal. The pork was incredibly tender, with that perfect caramelization on the outside, and the pineapple sambal added a sweet-spicy kick that kept me coming back for more. The Kung Pao Cauliflower was a revelation. Sichuan pepper gave it that tingly heat, and the peanuts added the perfect crunch. Even as someone who usually gravitates toward meat dishes, this was impressive. For the main, I went with the Crab Fried Rice with Peking duck, dashi omelet, and garlic chives. I requested charred rice and a soft omelet, and the kitchen nailed it. The smoky, crispy rice bits contrasted perfectly with the creamy omelet, and the crab was generous and sweet. This dish alone is worth the visit. The crispy spinach was a simple but addictive side--light, crunchy, and well-seasoned. What really elevated the experience was the service. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive, refilling my water without me having to ask. The atmosphere was surprisingly relaxed too--not overly crowded, which made for a peaceful, intimate dinner with that spectacular LA skyline as a backdrop.

We didn't realize this was part of Wolfgang Puck restaurants until the day of. I've been to Spago and was not a fan, and was scared that this place would also be the same. I was pleasantly surprised and would absolutely recommend Merois. Restaurant is located at the rooftop of the Pendry hotel. The hotel has parking and the restaurant validates. It's $25 for the first 2 hours with validation and $5 for each 30min after. The view inside is amazing, overlooking g the city. Service was also top notch, welcoming and friendly. Food was also great quality, seasoned perfectly and a fusion of Japanese and American. I would recommend the lobster spring rolls. It comes with 2 rolls each cut in half. The cauliflower was also really good. The meatballs were good but probably my least favorite out of all the appetizers we tried. Hands down the crab fried rice was the best. Big portion size and a combo of crab and duck. I usually don't eat duck because I feel it's gamy but I couldn't even taste it, that's how well it was seasoned. Overall great experience and would absolutely come back again!

This Chinese chicken salad was amazing. I ate it almost everyday for lunch during my week stay. The blue crab crunchy salad was also good but the dressing was a little overpowering.I wish they had more egg free lunch options!

The front of house staff was extremely patient with my party as LA traffic made 80% of my party super late. The views are stunning from the dining room. The food is excellent, starting with the bread. The cauliflower was a crowd favorite, essentially it was like orange cauliflower with an incredible fry and sauce. The beef skewers were also quite tasty. I opted to get the crab crispy rice salad which was delightful. Would definitely go back for a special occasion.

Loved loved loved this spot for Valentines Day dinner with my love. Booked if a month or so in advance for the rooftop romantic vibe for Valentine's Day and wasn't disappointed. Located at the top of the Pendry West Hollywood Hotel, it was the perfect intimate vibe. The hotel is located at the corner of a street around the corner for entrance and has valet parking that can be validated at the restaurant and costs $20. Margarete was our waitress and such a joy! Super friendly, very accommodating, and gave great recommendations! The food was amazing and I was not expecting to get as much variety and quantity for the price. The highlight for me was definitely the Oysters which were super delicious and had great accoutrements! Everything was delicious overall though, and I'd definitely opt in for the caviar, which was another highlight. The menu was perfectly curated and we were left super satisfied and the view was to die for.

Is it crowded on a Monday night or empty/ dead?

Somewhere in between, when I went all tables eventually filled up but it didn't feel crowded. I'd still make a reservation to secure a table but you could be lucky a find a table available if you go early.

    Are there gluten free options?

Yes, they're great with food allergies including gluten/dairy. I've eaten here dozens of times and never had a problem.

What are the dining menu prices. The website doesn't offer any prices that I saw?

Expect to pay Spago prices. With drinks, it's around $100 per person to have a really lovely Meal with shared dishes.

    Where do we park?

We dined at Merois in November 2021, and at the time, parking was available on N Olive (off from Sunset Blvd). The parking rate was $10 with validation. If you don't see the sign, pull into their valet station and ask.… Read more

    Hi! Is there outdoor seating?

Not complete outdoors, but table seating right at the very open entrance of the bar/restaurant. (Nestled right next to the hotel pool-amazing scenery all around!!)

Got seated on the patio on a beautiful day, so we were perfectly happy. After a quick glance at the menu, our recommendations from our server, we decided to order. We started with the escargot, as one does at a French restaurant, and the French onion soup. The escargot cube bathed in butter, garlic and parsley and were very tasty. I mean, how can they not be when bathed in garlic and butter? The French onion soup was also delicious with ample gruyere cheese overflowing. Pure indulgence! For entrees, we all tried something different. The steak frites were.... steak frites. If you've tried one, you've tried most, so not very memorable. The duck confit was cooked well and not overly fatty, which was nice. The omelette, let me say, is beautiful to look at. You almost don't want to touch it because it is very picrure-esque, and absolutely cooked perfectly. A, dare I say, perfect omelette. Finally was the Big Mec. Now, there are a lot of good burgers in Los Angeles, but the Big Mec is one of the greats. So much flavor with the double wagyu patties, cheese, special sauce all while sitting in a Bordelaise sauce. It isn't something you would eat every day, as it is heavy, but it is phenomenal when you do. I'd say one of the top five burgers in Los Angeles, in my humble opinion. Overall, delicious French restaurant in Hollywood, a little above Hancock Park, serving delicious food. Get the escargot and French onion soup to start, and definitely get the omelette and the Big Mec, you will not be disappointed.

Ended up eating most of the wagyu and burger separately as I am a messy eater. Fries were delicious as they were last year during our first visit. Wagyu was buttery and soft though, which lets me know I need to make haste and come back to try the steak frites. :) Banana cream pie had a lot of flavors - some sourness from the banana ice cream, toasted coconut praline dust, and coconut caramel - some chunks of banana were more ripe than others. Would opt for the creme brulee next time! Service was good, water constantly refilled during this very rich meal. The bathroom, however, did get clogged towards the end of our meal so I did not get to wash my grubby hands post meal. I think we need to limit the amount of toilet paper available in the bathroom because there is an insane amount of tp in the bathroom.

An Absolute Masterpiece of a Lunch!…read more My friend was visiting from New York, and I wanted to take her somewhere truly special for lunch. Since it was our first time at République, we didn't quite know what to expect, but we were completely blown away! From the atmosphere to the service and, of course, the food--everything was flawless. The Main Event Blueberry Pancake: My friend ordered this, and it was huge and incredibly delicious. A total crowd-pleaser. Filipino Pork Belly Adobo: I ordered this and was so impressed by how rich and deeply flavorful it was. Absolutely delicious. World-Class Service & Hospitality The service here is incredibly efficient, but what really made our day was the staff. Rambo took care of us and he was fantastic--so pleasant, attentive, and proactive with everything we needed. We also had the absolute pleasure of meeting the owner! It was so impressive to see her on the floor working just as hard as the rest of the team. She was incredibly nice and you can tell she truly cares; we watched her personally ensure the quality of the dishes was on point before they ever left the kitchen. That level of dedication explains why this place is so successful. Do Not Skip Dessert! Before you leave, you must hit the pastry counter. We grabbed a few things to try, and they were sinfully good: Kouign-Amann: Flaky, caramelized perfection. Basque Cheesecake: Rich, creamy, and beautifully baked. Chewy Chocolate Cookie: Perfectly textured and decadent. We had such a beautiful experience here. I had my rehearsal dinner here last week and all in all it was a WONDERFUL experience…read more We reserved the kitchen area for 32 guests with a set menu served family style. The food was INCREDIBLE and I was SO pleasantly surprised by how much food there was! We ended up with soooooo many leftovers! Family style meals always make me a little nervous, but the portions were plentiful and all of our guests left completely stuffed. The bread and butter was a standout, as well as the corn puff pastry appetizer (I can't remember exactly what it was called!). The steak and chicken main courses were to die for and the strawberry tiramasu was incredible. I could go on and on about the food. It really exceeded our expectations. Jared, our server was WONDERFUL. He was so attentive and on top of things. He communicated with my husband and I whenever he needed to and made our entire dinner so seamless and fun. The only downside to the experience was in planning the evening. I struggled a bit when it came to communicating with Sandra in the days/weeks leading up to our dinner. I didn't feel like we were a priority and often had to call or email multiple times to get a response. I found that to be very frustrating, especially because it was such an important part of our wedding and in the days leading up to getting married, the last thing I wanted to be doing was waiting on an email from the restaurant or hunting down a response about our beverage menu. I was also really bummed to see that when we got to the restaurant, our dinner menu had the wrong date printed on it. I wanted to bring one of the menus home as a keepsake, but it felt pointless when I saw the typo. There were also drinks on the beverage menu that we had never discussed, which was another disappointment. It ultimately didn't ruin our overall experience, but I think it's worth noting for other people planning larger dinner parties at Republique because I do wish a little more care had been taken on the restaurant's end while planning our dinner.

The structure itself has not changed, but the surface details of various rooms have now transformed into a fantasy world of chic French interior design details from the 17th to 19th century such as touches of Baroque, Empire, Beaux Arts, l'Art Nouveau. It feels like a Hollywood movie set. I sat at the tiny bar on the most substantial, leather upholstered, elaborate bar stool looking up at a gold framed, faux dome replete with puti flying in a hazy, cobalt blue sky. Bottle of effervescent Evian slaked the thirst on a hot August summer day. This meal could have been executed with more finesse. The kitchen may have been overwhelmed with guests at peak lunch hour. Perhaps Tuesday or Wednesday early dinner when it is less busy may be the better option. Tristin's due diligence and friendly service as well as the fun, theatrical, Gallic inspired décor pushes the 3+ food to the next 4 stars. Btw, just got word that Amour will close its doors at the end of August. Supposedly, it is rebranding to open at a later date. Bon Chance et À Dieu!

And then I came upon this place. A place that served French food, and would allow me to people see as I enjoyed Parisian fare. So the decision was made for I had found both the food I enjoyed, and the ambiance I enjoyed. I whispered where the Farmer's Market of the Grove responded, Monsieur Marcel Bistro, in a french accent that in my mind was just a wee coquette. I was dining solo and I was sat in the bar, perfectly fine with me. The server soon brought water. And the goblet had a paper straw. And I know this sounds super fragile, but I do not like drinking from paper straws cause the paper tastes throws my taste buds off. And it is not like I ask for a plastic straw cause my taste buds come first and the environment second. Nothing like that. I take the straw out and sip using my lips. I know it is barbaric, but I rather be an uncooth dolt then suffer the taste of paper on my tongue I loved the service of this place. It did not have charm, or charisma, but it was attentive, efficient and polite. Like the server brought me a chalkboard labeled plats de jour or plates of the day. I do not know French, but I trust Google translate enough to correctly translate this phrase. I appreciated the touches of gray blue and white throughout. I also appreciated the cursive, it all seem so Parisian-fancy, yet in the daylight. I ordered the whole Dorade, and did not order the Filet Mignon. That was my fatal flaw. My not ordering right. The Dorade is like a white fish, like a Branzino they explained it to me. And it came with a side of burblanc maybe it was a white sauce, creamy and thick. As my pictures show, when I first received the fish it came whole, like skin. I would not dare fileting myself. I know bad things happened when I filet fish by myself. The server took it back and it came as two clean filets. The first mouthfuls were a delight. And as destiny might write it, when the server asked me how I was enjoying the meal I was placing a big forkful in my mouth. And ugh! That is when i discovered the bones of the fish. I continued eating and the bones were many. The bones waiting for me in this great white fish, accompanied with lemon, and a white tick sauce, and nothing-tasting asparagus, had bones. Too many bones for me. In the past, I had almost nearly choked on one. To be clear, this did not happen on this outing, but still I struggled to enjoy the dish because of the bones. I need to remember that white fish served like this has bones. Should it have bones? Is there a way that one can eat this type of fish and enjoy it despite the bones? Like is there a way to use knife and fork to inspect if a mouthful has a fork? If there is I am afraid I never attended the charm school that imparted this skill unto folks. In short, this took down the place to only a 4 star experience. The people watching, the atmosphere the loveliness of its gray blue and accompanying cursive did not overshadow the finding of the bones. In complete contrast, the item that I cannot gush enough about is their chacuterrie board. I have never seen a restaurant offer a cheese board with one cheese. Like I would go back to this place just to have the cheese board and the french blue I had. But what made the board sing was their chutney, house-made so bravo to the house! Like the chutney was both sweet and savory and it was chunky, so that added to the authenthicity of the moment. To draw a shaky parallel, I imagined that chunky peanut butter made in house would taste way better than chunky peanut butter from the jar. When I combined the bread, the chutney, the bleu and a nut, it was a strong showing of flavor and pleasure. It was not until I wrote this that I noticed that plate had no meat. I cannot wait to go again and get the cheese board plate and this time I will make a point of adding some meat.

We were told they were all reserved, so we ended up at a small table. Surprisingly, by the time we left, none of those tables had been used. The service was attentive, and the restaurant is beautifully decorated, it really reminded me of a classic Parisian bistro. The food is on the pricey side. Our favorite dish was the steak frites. The burger was tasty, the escargots were just okay, and the cocktails were good overall.

Interior was very Parisian and quaint. Also, please note. This is a small restaurant and not stroller friendly. Let's talk about the food! Big Mec: 8.5 out of 10 I asked for well done and the meat was still a bit pink. But overall, i enjoyed it. I personally think this was meant to be shared lol this was so filling. The borderlaise was very rich and made the entire meal. Perfectly seasoned! I'd order this again Omelette petit trois 7 out of 10 I love how fluffy the egg was! This was a good simple dish which I thought was perfectly paired with the lettuce. It was a good balance of texture and flavor. Filet au poivres 8.5 out of 10 This wasn't my dish, but my friend really enjoyed it. She said the filet was very tender and the sauce wasn't overpowering, which allowed the steak flavor to shine through. She did mention it would've paired nicely with a roasted vegetable, but overall she really liked it. Napoleon 6.5 out of 10 The Napoleon was delicious. The Tahitian vanilla pastry cream was rich and smooth, layered between light, flaky puff pastry. The bruleed top added a perfect caramelized crunch that balanced the creaminess really well. Overall, it was too sweet for my liking, but not too heavy, and a must try.

The French…read more.. God Bless 'em! Setting trends in Fashion, Culture & of course the Culinary World. Yes, I know, we all wanna be skinny like those beautiful French girls... ;) But Sometimes.... You've gotta just ignore social norms and say F it! F is for French! lol Yeah, sometimes you've gotta just exclaim: "I'm gettin' the Burger and I'm most DEFINITELY getting the Fries!" And nobody and I mean Nobody is going to stop me! Yeah, that was me and my mindset when I was out at the Beverly Center back in August. Hey! It was lunch. I was hungry. & Nicolas Eatery was there to handle all my needs. And just like Napoleon Bonaparte would have done... I strolled in, I walked straight to the bar top, sat down, placed my napkin in my lap, ordered a burger, a side of fries and of course L.A's FINEST tap water. And just like that, instead of following trends... I was setting them! So what did I get you ask?? Le Beverly Burger of course!! This alongside their perfectly fried French fries which you know I dipped in Ketchup... Yes, I know, so American of me! =) Sadly, my only mistake I made on this day... I should have ordered my favorite French Beer, 1664 Kronenbourg.... Damn! But Lance, this Mall is so crazy, where the heck do I go?? Nicolas Eatery is located on Level 6, or "six" in French (Fun Fact: spelled the same, sounds totally different) and trust, my French is No Good! If you're able to snag a window seat, you will get a clear view of Los Angeles and the Hollywood Sign in the distance. Of course I went with the Burger, but trust, this place has more than just French Fries. -French Baguette with Butter -French Onion Soup -French Omelette But if want to drink like the French do... You know they've got a little vin (wine) or you can go with the classic French 75 cocktail. So, to this ai say: Be like the French. Eat like the French. Drink... Like the French and come start your own La Révolution! But instead of storming Bastille, storm Beverly Center and demand your freedom to order whatever the hell you choose from Nicolas Eatery! And after you're done, walk out proudly singing Viva La France!!!

The restaurant is billed as French-Vietnamese and previously offered pho and related fare but did not have these options on our visit. Our family came on a Saturday evening after an afternoon in the mall. I got the Ahi Tuna burger ($18), a substantial slab of Ahi Tuna steak on a bun with a wasabi mayo and paired with perfectly crispy, well salted frites ($5). We also got the French lobster roll ($26) a decent, but not groundbreaking, sandwich with a spicy sauce. One of our children got the tomato soup ($10) which was phenomenal - creamy and tomatoey - and paired well with grilled cheese. The cafe was clean and positioned with a great view; service was good too, with the waitress making suggestions and accommodating our children's special requests. Prices, as listed above, were excellent for the quality and quantity of food provided in an otherwise quite expensive area. More Parisien then Indochine, Nicholas deserves the unusually high rating it commands for the area. If you're in the Beverly Center and looking for a quality, high-value meal, Nicholas est la meilleur choix. Magnifique! Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 5/5

We went on a thursday night and other guests were mostly french (that's how you know it's locally approved)! The decor was modern chic on the outside and the inside decor was different on the inside- hipster cafe with quotes. The food itself was unbelievable! The pricing is on the higher side but worth it given the taste! We had bone marrow which had a nice buttery flavor; the Beef bourguignon was tender and well flavored; and their house special Black cod (available only for one week) was so flavorful and cooked delicately that it melted in our mouths! It was the best fish we ever tasted and we didn't even know fish could taste like that!!! We also recommend the mango passionfruit lemonade. Not too sweet and tasted very fresh. We also thought it was one of the best and freshest lemonade we ever tasted! Word of note though is that the food portion is on the smaller side for Americans (which is actually normal sized for Europeans). Overall fantastic food! My mouth is watering thinking about it! Definitely recommend for special occasions and if you want very food french food!
