I came on a Sunday night close to closing--though the hours listed 9pm as closing, by 8:30pm they weren't allowing anyone else in, just an FYI. They opened this branch in January and it pretty much has the regular restaurant's offerings except it's all in to go containers. No complaints here! I ordered the 蟹粉小笼包 and it was delicious! Even the 2 dumplings that were unbroken had little soup in them, which tracks with the very small amount of liquid in the dumpling container despite all that leakage. Tasted good, hence the 2 stars, but not the experience (dumplings with soup inside them) I was there for. If you're really craving soup dumplings, it will cure the crave. Although you're able to eat at the small window counter with four seats, but when they named it Express, they meant it. This location was definitely not meant for you to eat in. The counter is small and the seats are uncomfortable. I don't believe in taking soup dumplings to go because they never hold well. However, the food was packed very well, in nice containers along with well packed sauces. The soup dumplings were tasty, but very small with very little soup inside. The skin was average, it wasn't too thick, but it wasn't very thin either. The scallion pancake with beef was pretty good with a decent portion of meat and came with a delicious spicy dipping sauce. Overall, the soup dumplings are overrated and grossly overpriced for their size. I would need to eat three orders to be full. Would I go back? Absolutely not when there are so many other options around. However, if you live in the neighborhood and on your way home and craving soup dumplings, you should definitely give it a try. read more

Food was very good and it was great to find one in my neighborhood. However, as you enter, you see the kiosk and it was as if it is required to place the order there even though the lady at the front desk was available. While I placed my order, I learned it was my mistake as it would have been quicker to order with her. We had three types of the three available soup dumplings. All were fresh and delicious. One order of hot and sour soup which was really nice and not as silty as I knew it, which is a good thing, more tarty-citrusy and lots of substance. Another order of dumpling soup, which was delicious, light broth but delicious. Lastly, for an "express" joint, it wasn't so fast getting my order. Another lady who ordered before she came to pick up, said the same thing. No much room for sit it, hence the "express". It's made for pick up. We got home and devoured the dumplings. BUT one that made my stomach turn is the pork and vegetable dumpling with spicy peanut butter --the pork meat was RAW!!! It was a very disappointing experience, honestly. Nan Xiang Express, please inform the kitchen staff about this. I used to order from the Flushing location when I worked in that area but now I work in Forest hills and I was so excited to see this little place open up! It's perfect for take out and each time I've walked in and ordered and been out the door with my food in under 15 min. The menu is obviously more limited but it has all the greatest options from their original menu so for me it was perfect. I love some good soup dumplings and this place has some of the best. I ordered delivery. Arrived quickly and everything was still hot. Pork soup dumplings. Skin to filling ratio is perfect. The soup inside the dumpling has great flavor and is silky smooth. I could drink the dipping sauce by itself. The take out utensils comes with a soup dumpling spoon. I usually avoid ordering soup dumplings for delivery because a couple of them always arrive popped. Here, I've ordered this several times and the dumplings always arrive fully intact. Grade:A+ Pork wontons in spicy peanut sauce. My favorite dish because I usually decide to order from here when I find myself craving these. So flavorful. I always order extra because it reheats well. These wontons are the first thing to be completely gone when I order for a group. It's a heavy, saucy dish compared to soup dumplings, so I recommend eating it with something light, like a salad. Grade: A+ Pan fried crispy noodle. I've had this with both beef and pork. I think I like the beef better but both are excellent. It comes in a container with the sauce part separate from the crispy noodles. My only complaints are that it is slightly too salty for my taste and the portion is small compared to other places. A bigger portion size for the noodles would take care of this. I end up using only about 1/2 the sauce for the noodles. Grade: A Scallion pancake with sliced beef. My son loves this. I keep hoisin sauce in the fridge and add some whenever I order this. Grade: A Pan fried pork buns. Skin is dough-y and greasy, but it's fried so I can't complain about that. Pretty disappointed by my visit here and I don't think my issues were due to the place just opening. The signature soup dumplings were good but nothing special. Not any different (and definitely not $2 better) than you'd find at Grand Sichuan or several other places that serve soup dumplings + a more expansive menu. More disappointing were the pan fried pork buns. Zero fluffiness to the dough and not much filling. The crazy thing is, they aren't anything like the pork buns at the original Nan Xiang Xiao Long Bao, which are fluffy and great. Also tried the fried rice cake dish. I will say that I have never tried this dish before, so maybe it is supposed to taste like eating a bowl of bland glutinous rice, but the lack of flavor and seasoning was off-putting and I couldn't eat more than a few bites. This is another in a long line of "should have been a good addition to Forest Hills but is ultimately disappointing", like Tamashii Red, Rotisserie du Coin, the 2 restaurants in this space prior to Nan Xiang, etc. Holding out hope for the new ramen on QB! read more

This is a "fast" casual type of soup dumpling place, kinda like McDonalds or Burger King, but for soup dumplings. There is limited seating inside, just a row against the window with around 3 or 4 seats. The food is good, but not 5 star quality. It's not homemade, more like pre-prepared then cooked to order. The crabmeat pork soup dumpling had a harder shell than other places, but tastes good. Shrimp pork wontons had a thick shell, but there is real shrimp inside and the inside ingredient also tastes good. Ordered the ham and turnip pastry puff, but for some reason, they gave me a red bean one instead. Not sure how they got that mixed up. I would come back to try their other items on the menu, they also have dumplings (fried and steamed), soup noodles, fried udon and rice cake.
