Look, I know good steaks. I've had all the famous LA steaks like Morton's, Lawry's, Maestro's, Boa, etc. They are excellent steaks. But they are also really freaking expensive. Sometimes I just want a cheap slab of beef and I'm too lazy to cook it myself. And maybe I want a piece of fried chicken patty with cheese and ham to go with it. Sizzler is one of those places a family with young kids go to try to be upscale without the risk of something horrible happening, or where lovers go before a movie for a decently upscale meal. I guess the word "Decent" is the key here. They make a mean piece of cheese toast, and the free refills of soft drinks gain it a star. The Salad bar is above average simply because of the hot entrees you get access to when you order it. There are other, better salad bars around LA but how many can give you mac and cheese and chicken wings? Yeah, not many. So anyway I ordered the Steak and Malibu Chicken with rice pilaf. I had about 1000 options apparently (Do I want mushrooms or onions on the steak? Do I want to add-on shrimp? Do I want to add-on salad bar? Do I want to add-on dessert? Do I want to upgrade the steak to ribeye?) and although I denied them all, I appreciate that I have a lot of choices when I do order so it won't be the same thing if I don't want it to next time I come here. I was offered a cheese toast as an appetizer, about 10 minutes later my food arrived piping hot. the steak (medium-rare of course) was juicy and only a little bit rubbery - far within the tolerances of my palate. I've had worse in Vegas haha... The Malibu Chicken was also, quite good. even though it's easily something you can get the components for at any supermarket...to have it presented as a legitimate entrée is charming. The Rice Pilaf was kind of squishy but that helped with the steak actually. All in all, the combination works, and I had a fairly great lunch. It was enough to fill me up without feeling bloated, and I had my Dr pepper refills like a happy little child. Heeeeeelllllooooo! Heck ya I'm a fan! Ever since I can remember eating at Sizzler as a child up in the bay area, I was surprised to find one down here in LA that is just as good and tasty as I remembered it as a child! First off - This place IS one of the nicer Sizzlers and it's kept clean and so is the all you can eat food bar. Their texas toast & their chicken wings are still the BEST thing about Sizzler and it DOES taste the same as I was a kid growing up! Kudos to this management team and staff, as they have kept the bar up to keep Sizzler one of the best restaurants that I remember from my childhood. Especially since they have to compete with local restaurants and high ends, always popping up. The service - Excellent. Stephanie L was our waittress and she was always welcoming and attentive to both my sister and I, even though I noticed that she was manning like half the restaurant. This lady was doing a damn good job. Pleasant and always with a smile. Food - Just like you'd expect as a kid. We ordered the all you can eat salad bar and there were so many offerings at this Sizzler. The salads, the fruits, the soups, the tacos, chicken, etc... everything looked fresh and served hot! And the dessert, it's not just frozen treats anymore, they have a variety to choose from. A banana bread type pudding, an individual sized cheesecake, and some white cake. Way to Go guys! We also ordered a steak and shrimp skewers to share. The steak was cooked medium rare, and the shrimp was a-ok. For a chain, not bad. Not grade A choice but if you're craving steak, this place still has what it takes to cook a decent tasting steak. The veggies on this plate, obviously tasted like it was frozen, and the rice was typical too. I'd have to say I really enjoyed the salad bar and the steak. There's plenty of parking on either side of the restaurant, and the bathrooms are in decent shape. Also - the to go bags, are not given in a big box. They give foil and a bag - which I prefer, because I'll just be eating those leftovers at home and throwing the bag away anyway. I'm glad they do that, its less waste. read more

Ok this is gonna be a fun review because I'm a newbie to the Siz-z-z-z-ler world. Is it a steakhouse? Is it a salad bar? Is it a buffet? It's a bit schizophrenic. When you walk in there's a ginormous menu that is so incredibly busy I had no idea what to look at. Red meat, poultry, seafood, OH MY! I don't often eat red meat so my choice was their smallest ounce steak. My guy got the shrimp entree. The salad bar is not Souplantation worthy but it's got enough of what you want in an AYCE environment. There's a hot foods area as well - nachos, pasta, wings, fries, etc. They have soup but I'll get back to that in a second. And then there's the dessert area. What more could you ask for?! Well since the question was posed......Let me count the ways: 1. The soup is not even warm. It just is. Anything with the word chowder in it should be piping hot. The temp was as if you left a bowl of chowder on your kitchen counter for an hour. It's just there. 2. The wings are what you want in wings but again, not hot or even warm. Just there. 3. The other hot foods looks like they were scrapping the bottom of the barrel. There was no steam coming from the marinara sauce. 4. The salad bar looked like a regular salad bar. We didn't partake so I can't really speak to its quality. 5. The dessert bar exploded. I actually watched it explode......from two little boys who were too excited to attack an entire dessert buffet. Teeny tiny chocolate kisses were spilled everywhere and into other desserts. Ugh. My steak came out as requested - medium rare - but I was alarmed at the size of it. Smaller than my Samsung Note mobile phone. No kidding. My guy's plate of shrimp on the other hand was plentiful --- yay him!. I did not know of this cheese bread people speak of and we were really excited....buttery cheesy crispy bread - what's there not to love?!!! So here's the bottom line -- it's an inexpensive way to get a little of absolutely everything you want in fast American food. I didn't find the quality to be horrible; just keep the food hot damn it! That's all I ask for. Will we go back? We went in the 1st place because my guy remembers Sizzler back in the day when he was a kid. It was a luxury back in the day. Back in the day. Oh mommy...the Sizzler? Ok. Yes, the Sizzler is another one of those joints that I only go to b/c of my mother. She enjoys the salad bar (Senior Menu of course - she gets a "free" drink). I will admit this is one of the better Sizzlers still around. Its clean, for the most part. The staff is somewhat attentive and the salad bar is well maintained and the lettuce isn't all gross and brown. The chicken wings are on point and you can't beat the make your own ice cream sundae. The Sizzler is one of those places that has something for everyone: steak, seafood, chicken, salads or you can be like me and eat about 10 pieces of that itty bitty pound cake. Yum! My only request - don't let your kid touch EVERYTHING on the salad bar! read more

I don't recommend the endless shrimp (battered boiled shrimp probably) or the sliver of rib-eye (or steak, or whatever they market it as). I'm not surprised to give SIzzler 2 stars. It was a hit back in the 90s, but now the quality of food has gone down that you can get better salads and food elsewhere...far more cheaper, too. My mom and I went here, because we saw it at a a distance and said she hadn't been to sizzler in awhile and would like to go. There's a reason why it's been so long! My mom is over 65 so she got the salad bar with drink for $10.99. I got the regular adult salad bar minus the drink for $11.99. Kind of a weird "bargain," but whatever. It didn't include the drink, I guess that's why, but only 1 dollar less for a senior menu? The salad bar had the old favorites like the chicken wings and the taco/nacho bar. There was a soup bar as well. The salad section had a little more diversity in it, there was tuna salad, macaroni salad, even kale salad and a spinach berry salad. Then there was your typical 3 types lettuce and some more veggies to dress your salad. Meh. The ranch was disgusting by the way. For the quality of food, the price is kinda steep, I thought. At souplantation, you get more selections and more food for the same price, including a drink. I think they need to knock it down a few bucks. Besides the food, the restaurant was decent and the waitress was pleasant. I wouldn't necessarily make it a point to come to any sizzler, but it is what it is. read more

Out of a marriage of boredom and hunger a trip to Sizzler was born, 2 friends and I piled into a jeep and rolled out like the frickin Autobots, theme music and every thing. To say the least we were primed for something new, something different, an altogether unique experience. We were on the prowl for food and adventure. Why the Sizzler you might ask... because its the Sizzler! And, we were bored. I think we had coupons as well.. This particular Sizzler has an excellent parking lot with lots of access in and out. And, it is located conveniently next to an adult novelty store, Bonus! Of course we did the buffet style salad, I had the steak and unlimited shrimp and while the food was okay, it wasn't great. They didn't bring me my vegetables with the meal, so I had to ask for them again. Drink refills were tough to come by as well. It took forever to pay and I began to wonder if the waitress had run off with my card and then even more time passed by. Later, for some unknown reason, I didn't feel well and I was angry at something, but had no reason to be and it confused and further aggravated me. The only thing I can attribute this attitude to is having eaten at the Sizzler and that got my blood pumping. I don't want to test this theory, so I'll not be going back. read more

Minus 1 star because of salty taco meat and an inability to rebrand themselves in a way that could take over the ayce salad bar market in this economy. My husband might leave me for Sizzler, he enjoyed himself so much. He was in contant awe of the deals. Their value dinners are pretty great. Get this - for $9.99 you can order just the ayce salad bar. OR for 9.99, you can order the cheeseburger/fries off the value meal which comes with... the ayce salad bar. Huh? $13.99 buys you grilled shrimp skewers with ayce salad bar and so on and so on. It was nuts. I had been to Sizzler once since the '80s and it wasn't bad but this location just took the cake. They have artichoke hearts at the salad bar and bleu cheese crumbles and delicious veggies. I didn't try any of the mixed salads - I am not a fan - but there were huge chunks of crab in their seafood salad and the waldorf salad looked appley and yummy. Other highlights/ Spaghetti and meatballs. Yum! Cheese bread. Yum! Banana pudding with nilla wafers in it. Yum! Big old fried chicken wings. Yum! Taco bar. Kinda yum but mostly because of the big scoops of guac you could serve yourself. Simpsons on one tv, Clippers game on another. Yum! The man working the floor - the waiter without being the waiter - was so nice and helpful and great. He made it even better, and I had no idea it could get better! I am not the kind of girl who should like Sizzler but I really liked this Sizzler. It's been a LONG time since my wife and I have been to a Sizzler, but some of our friends insisted that it was worth checking out again. It's basically a bit like Souplantation for salad bars, but they offer some more meat options. Remember that this is all you can eat, so you can imagine that their quality isn't the highest, but if you're just wanting to eat some comfort food, you'll be happy here. This place is across the mall. BJ's was too crowded so this was my second choice. Food here is really cheap for the Marina del Rey area. $7-20 range. Their specialty lemonade drinks are amazing! I got Mango lemonade + strawberry lemonade mixed with my friend's drink and it was fantastic. Free refills on the lemonade too!!! It's worth the extra $4 for this drink. I don't remember the waitress's name, but she was really good. She constantly passed or table and offered refills on drinks and bread. She treated is like visiting family, calling us "mijo," so that was nice. I left a 30% tip, and my other friends left 30%, 20% 0% and 0%. So my generous tip was dragged down by my cheap friend. read more

Been many years since our last meal here. Tonight's was complete spur of the moment. We arrived and though there were a lot of people, there was ample seating and offerings on all of the bars. I noticed team members refilling items in the Salad Bar, Taco Bar, and Dessert area frequently. The only drawback being that many items seemed to be missing labels. As an example, in the taco bar, there were small cheesey poppers -- I only decided they were jalepeno poppers because there appeared to be green peeking out of some of the cheesy drip, and right next to it was nice, green, jalepenos. Another example was the soup bar - delicious looking chicken noodle, and very classic clam chowder, but there was a third soup -- even after eating it, I'm not 100% certain whether it was a corn chowder or a potato soup, as both tend to have corn and potato. It was very tasty, the temp was right, but a label to know for certain would have been helpful. Once you've selected your seat, the waiter will come by to put your order into the kitchen. When he/she does, they offer nice thick slices of yummy garlic bread! I assume if you want one of the tasty looking flavored lemonades, these would be the people who bring them. We were satisfied with do-it-yourself soda. Anyway, the prices were somewhat reasonable -- of course, it helps that my mom gets to enjoy the Senior Menu which includes a beverage that would otherwise be $2.50. I enjoyed the Malibu chicken from the Value Menu, which includes unlimited salad (taco/soup/dessert) bar. Admittedly, I had to take my chicken and baked po home, as I completely filled up on the bar! Mom ordered the bar in addition to her menu item, and did the same thing. My brother was the only one of us who selected an entree without the additional bar. He admitted that if he had realized the selection, he might have ordered the bar as well to take home his entree. As with any place, these days, it seems even "reasonable pricing" is not "inexpensive". Our dinner tab came to $51 for 3 adults, and we gave a cash tip to our server, Ricky, for his excellent service, however, the entirety of two of three entrees ended up being packaged to come home and will easily be 2-4 more meals, and the entree eaten on premises was only because my brother did not get the bar! I was actually satisfied enough to consider reaching out to this Sizzler location about potential banquet space I will be needing soon, and I think it is fair to believe we will be back for dinner soon. read more

The Food is not the highest quality haven't ordered from their menu usually I go to the salad bar they have guacamole that alone pays half the price of the salad bar you get a choice of soups you can get some fajitas salad and pasta salads. What puts it off the roof is the cheese bread. You also get to have dessert. Great option for lunch if you work close by. The second option is shakeys across the street. Recomended place. read more

Sizzlers does not seem to offer much in the way of ADA accommodations. I've had gastric bypass surgery, I can only eat, at maximum a child's size portion but Sizzler, at least the one at 5801 Sepulveda Blvd. In Carson City Does not allow an adult, even one with special dietary needs to order off of the children's menu, they force you to pay full price for a meal you won't even eat half of!. If you don't love local or are not going home to a refrigerator to put the leftovers in, then the majority of your meal just goes in the trash. I ended up not eating anything and watching my husband eat his 30.00 meal... FUN!!!!! NOT.. needless to say I won't be going back and I will be paying on ALL the gastric support sites I am on that Sizzler is not a friendly place for us! read more

Not sure how to start this because i am still in shock with how bad my visit was here. For starters my server was no where to be found. I ordered a sladed bar with my meal and never got a clean plate after i used my first one. after making serval attempts to wave a server down. i just ended up walking up to the front and asked for a new plate. next i ordered a 12oz steak medium rare, and got what looked like a burnt chicken strip( see pic). then when i finnaly got a hold of someone. all i got was an " ill look in to it" well about 45 min later i just put the dish aside. However, I have been to other locations that have upgraded and this location does not have the salad bar where you can get it tossed. Our waitress Azalia was nice and attentive. My family loved sizzlers and we always came for family dinners. But this sizzler? This one deserves no stars. I'm being nice by giving it one. My sister and parents had a horrible experience here. The cashier was extremely rude, telling us how to order and assumed we couldn't afford or were going to steal food? I don't get it but they destroyed our experience and my family ended up leaving and eating at BJ's. My parents and sister arrived and waited in line. My mom stepped aside because her stomach was upset and she was not going to eat. My sister ordered for herself and my father. The cashier asked about the third meal. And we were not in need of a third meal (my mother was standing aside waiting and keeping my dad company) so my sister, although confused, just repeated her order for herself and my father. This cashier replied with an attitude and kept insisting that our order did not make sense because she wanted us to order a third meal for our mom. She kept saying "you don't make sense, there is only two meals and three people in your party." My sister eventually got tired and upset and my dad stepped in. The cashier then talked over him and cut him off and demanded "look you have two meals two salads, you need a third salad for your third person." The assistant manager came out and had an awful attitude as well. The assistant manager and the cashier kept saying meals couldn't be shared. They literally said "she (your mom) can not share meals" And extra food is "extra money." We told them my mom was not going to eat. We were surprised by their attitude and confused and visibly stunned by how aggressive they were. Again, my mom was not going to eat because her stomach was upset but that's besides the point. #1 you do not tell customers how to order and/or how to eat their food. #2 you do not treat people with an angry attitude and/or cut them off. #3 you do not welcome customers with accusations. My family was so confused and angry. My family was offended. What was their problem? My family ordered politely, were looking forward to family time, were looking forward to enjoying their food. This completely destroyed their experience. They paid and sat down. After a few minutes once the waiter came, they decided to cancel their order and ended up leaving. They went to BJ's. Oh and they had a wonderful experience at BJ's. BJ's service was great and the food was delicious. read more

We were pleasantly surprised at the Sizzler last night. It was very crowded though, probably because they have a $9.99 special going on. Still, they never seem to quite have their act together. In my advertising history, when you have a special going on, you should ensure that you have enough workers on hand to handle the volume of customers. Still, it was a good value for the $$. We were hungry for Salad and couldn't think of anywhere to go that wouldn't set us back $15 or the time (BJ's). So, for $12.99 we decided to give Sizzler's salad bar a try. We will return. We haven't eaten at Sizzler in a decade. To our surprise the salad bar was simple but perfect. Veggies were fresh (the iceberg was tired but we don't eat iceberg anyway). This isn't miles of salad bar fixings like Souplantation but the basics are all here. The prepared salads are tasty. Clam chowder was better than serviceable (choice of 3-4 soups). Cheese toast was included. The hot bar was unexpected and good -- carnitas for the tacos and guacamole were surprisingly authentic (will try the linguine & meatball sauce the next time). Desert bar was meh-looking. (That's not why you're dining on salad bar anyway.) Fresh fruit was sweet; the lightly spiced fruta mix included jicama and cucumber was deelish. Restaurant is clean and tidy. Table server supplies fresh plates upon request. We're happy for the new option. read more

I have been to this sizzler for the first and last time. I chose this one specifically because it was closer to my home, usually I'll pass this one up and go to the one off Manchester near the airport. However, today I thought let's give them a try. We walk in after paying and grab our drinks and then find a table of course. Following that I go to the salad bar, where I realize the plate I grabbed was dirty, i then get a different plate and start to make a salad where I realize they don't have all the options for salad sides as the other sizzler but I continue, as I'm getting my lettuce these pieces of lettuce looked like they could go in a hamburger not only were they big but pretty much every piece was browning somewhere. Once I sit down I see that my cheese bread is burnt, like BLACK burnt. I start to eat my salad and immediately taste the staleness of the croutons, and I was just done. My husband grabbed chicken and potato wedges and the chicken was so dry you could take the skin off and see the meet itself dried up and the potato wedges were cold but had just "came out the oven". Overall I'm disappointed in this whole experience, $40 gone to waste, I left and went across the street to the mall for food. This location is absolutely too small to not have good service and the other location I have went too three times in the last week and a half was way better in presentation and being on top of caring for the customers needs and they actually have to get customer refills and things of that nature. This location doesn't even have to worry about that you get it yourself. So less work and even worse service? I'm six months pregnant and literally craved for this place today and got completely let down. The bathrooms alone need their own review, it's just bad in there and I truly can't believe it. I haven't been to a Sizzler in a long, long time. I finally decided to check this location out. I'm not sure which location I went to before, but l'm sure I've never been to this location. I went yesterday after 630p. I did a take-out order and got the 1/3 lb. Burger (well-done) with cheese and French Fries. They were both delicious and the french fries were perfectly-made (not too limp or burnt). I also got the Steak (well-done) and Malibu Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. At first I thought the chicken was better than the steak, but I think it's a 3-way tie - everything was equally delicious. I was not told how long it was going to take, but they did a great job working on it and got my order done in less than 20 minutes. When I got to this place, there were some customers in line and a couple of customers were picking up food to go. However, right before I was going to start to order, more and more customers started coming in. It really got busy around 645p. The parking lot can get full. The spots in the front were all taken (there are more spots if you keep going to the right but I think they were almost all taken), so I went around the block and parked on the street. The workers are very nice and helpful. I will definitely come back to this location and/or check out the other locations. read more
